We are incredibly grateful to Pampered Puppies for going above and beyond in caring for our corgi puppy, Hank. We had tried a couple other establishments for puppy daycare and training, but it wasn't until we arrived at Pampered Pups that we found a second home. First of all, William is the most incredible trainer there is. We signed up for a 5-pack of private lessons at our home, and they have transformed our relationship with our puppy. He taught us how to communicate with Hank and teach him in a way that is loving and patient. Now, Hank responds to "come!" whenever called - even if there is a bunny he's chasing! And William helped us get him fully potty trained, for which my rugs are eternally thankful. Plus sit, stay, and a whole slew of words that enable us to communicate effectively. It is so helpful to have someone come to your space, practice inside and outside, and give you the tips needed to continue to work on for 10-15 minutes a day. After two months, Hank is a whole new pup! And we all love each other more now that we can communicate and understand each other. Onto the puppy daycare, which we incorporated next. The whole space is so incredibly nice and looks (and smells!) refreshing. It's very spacious and designed with great care. Each daycare room (one for large dogs and one for smaller dogs) is bright and cheerful. The team is calm and manages all the energy very well. Hank is always stoked to go to daycare and happily exhausted when he comes home. You can tell that the owners, Michael and Kim, custom designed the space with care. Their office overlooks the small dog room and has giant windows all around. And they truly take time to know their dogs - who likes to play with whom, who prefers to chase or play ball. Their online platform for booking is also incredibly easy to use! And, saving the best for last, there is Alexis, who mans the front desk and seems to be everywhere at once. She is a font of wisdom about puppy nutrition and care. I've seen her leap into action when a bigger dog got too rambunctious. And, she went above and beyond by identifying a tooth problem that Hank was struggling with, unbeknownst to us. She even helped us capture a video to show his vet. We and Hank are incredibly grateful that she takes the time to know what's going on with each pup! Pampered Puppies is the whole package. I have been taking Peppercorn here for a few months and she gets such incredible care and the owners are always so wonderful and welcoming from the second we step in! They always welcome our questions and when we first brought Peppercorn in, their daughter helped me and guided me with getting all of her information in, and the system has been so easy to use since! There are so many treats to choose from and we even got Peppercorn a toy from there that she absolutely loves. Everything is well priced and they'll help you size your doggo if you find a piece of clothing you love. My dog Gronk is a big boy and after going through the retail route and to a well known chain, I was at my wits end as to where to go to get him bathed. I chose pampered pups because I love him. Well, I took the chance and we went through the doors and Gronk was busy sniffing everything! I met Michael at the front door and he met Gronk. The love in the greeting was so immense and the respect of Gronk's size (he is 140 pounds) and until you get to know him his presence will always be daunting and once the size factor is taken away he is a baby. He needed encouragement in getting into the bath, but once in he showed love and attention. (I brought his muzzle just in case he acted up) No need for the muzzle, he was happy and he loved the attention. The attention to detail was second to none, he smelled clean and looked great! Convenient - Yes Accommodating-No Facility location is great for the Wellesley resident, very clean and centrally located plus easy parking. However, the grooming is hit or miss and the online booking is so time consuming time as there is so much invested in picking which service and which add-Ins, then looking for availability - only to get an email later that it won't work out! After that they allow you to call in and book an appointment usually a month out. I have tried to give them my business for my pets- only mostly to be disappointed in the results- as like I stated earlier, the grooming and "services" are hit or miss and they have more than once given my dogs a "summer cut" (shave) out of season- but my dogs don't notice! read more

I have been bringing my little pup to Pampered Puppies since his first groom & cut. He's almost a year old now, and I know we'd never go anywhere else. Michael and Kim, the owners, have such big hearts and this is their dream and passion -- it shows in the care they put into this place. I was looking for a doggy daycare for my 3-year-old yellow lab, Mollie. A friend told me about Pampered Puppies, she brought her dog there for grooming and a couple of days in the large puppy playroom. She told me to check it out on their webcam to get a feel for the environment and if Mollie would seem to have fun there. I thought what a wonderful feeling to know you can watch your dog play with the other dogs! I loved the transparency offered by Pampered Puppies. I excitedly logged into the webcam - Then my heart absolutely sank.....I watched a guy, with about 14 dogs, who had no control or patience with them. He had 3 sets of dogs tied to each other!! They were actually leashed to each other! Pulling on each other's neck AND he was using a spray bottle on other dogs if they were barking, I am guessing because there is no sound. I was sick to my stomach watching this. I thought maybe I just caught a bad day - a very bad day. So, the next day I checked in again and saw a girl in with the big dogs. All I can say is these people should NOT be working with dogs. She had no patience and she was very aggressively handling them. At one point she had the sweetest white pup on a leash and was yanking him everywhere she went and shoving his bum down to sit and then yank again on the leash. The poor thing was cowering with his head down. I was sickened to see what almost looked like abuse. What kind of training do these people have??? They are on camera and this is how they treat the dogs in their care?? What happens when they are not on camera? They should NOT be working with dogs if they don't have the patience to care, love, teach them in a positive way. I'm sorry this is so long, but I have lost sleep over seeing this and feel people who love their dogs should know before leaving them in their hands. I showed up for a grooming in the window slot given to me. They charged me full price, said I was late, and would not take my dog in for another 2 weeks. The person was rude to me in the store, and offered no solution. I disputed the charge and the owner told me I was an "entitled child" and no longer welcome to come back. I have seen other reviews on Michael and it all matches up to what I experienced. He immediately got aggressive, condescending and would not apologize or listen to a customer or dog needs. Horrendous customer service. And thank you for confirming once again in writing how horrible your attitude is and business is by posting what you said through email due to your mistake. As pointed out in several other reviews "belligerent behavior" and "lazy teenager" wraps up this establishment. My puppy loves this place!! They offer daycare, grooming, training, and some very high-quality retail items. I am not kidding when I say William was able to train my untrainable rescue. I'm very happy this business opened in Wellesley. Michael and Kim are thoughtful and conscientious. I take my dog to get groomed here, and they are always fast (it's 2 hours or less here, but it always takes 3-4 hours everywhere else I've brought him). The lobby is spacious, clean, and welcoming. Everyone is warm and accommodating. I also really like the portal they have set up for making appointments and tracking vaccine records - it beats having to have printed copies of everything with me all the time and trying to remember what I've shared. It also means the business is doing a comprehensive job of tracking everyone's vaccines, which is a huge comfort. (pro tip: ask your vet for the vaccine record, don't just upload the receipt, you'll save a step!) read more

While my dog was getting his nails done, I spoke to one of the owners, a complete gentleman. Unfortunately, I didn't get his name. He told me how PP just opened and how they are committed to their employees, who are salaries and receive benefits. I took my 120-pound dog, Hartley, for his first visit at Pampered Puppies--a nail trim--several months ago. Had called to schedule and spoke with one of the owners, Michael, who said his daughter, Alexis, was the best one and to book with her. I did. When I arrived, the staff instantly warmed up to my gentle giant. My dog is pure calm love. He thrives on touch and snuggles and hugs. They embraced him. Alexis took Hartley into the grooming room and Hartley lay on the floor as she and an assistant cut his nails. It was perfect. My dog felt completely comfortable. I left pleasantly surprised. Recently, I called to book a second nail trim appointment. Alexis answered the phone at 8:30 am. She looked my dog up in their records, saw his photo and remembered him. I said it was not urgent but she asked if I could come at 10 am and we did. When we arrived, she was at the front desk. She quickly took my dog into the grooming room where two groomers were with other clients. She knelt down on the floor next to him and said, "Down." My dog has not been taught that command so he did not respond, though had she given him ten seconds he would have been on his side hoping for a belly rub. That is what he does naturally. She did not wait. I then heard her snap, "Well, if you're not going to lie down, you'll have to go up here." (Meaning up on the metal slab.) Not sure if those tables move up and down, but Alexis, who is quite small, did not lower the table but instead grabbed my dog's hind end and attempted to throw him up onto the table. Someone came to assist with the front end. It was awkward and rough. She then strapped Hartley to the contraption under the rear part of his belly and under his chest. He was petrified. Alexis proceeded alone to cut my dog's nails. His tail was curled so tightly under his body that it was pointing toward his head. I adopted this sweet dog 2-1/2 years ago. He had been abused. Since he has been with me, I had never seen him put his tail between his legs. I was horrified! The nail trimming seemed to take an eternity. Near the end, a woman who I believe to be the other owner, came by and said, "Oh, is that your dog with his tail between his legs?" Yes, and why didn't she go help my dog? When Alexis brought Hartley out to me, I asked her why she didn't cut his nails on the floor like last time when it worked so well that way. She retorted that it's only because she's not a groomer (which I didn't know and which explains why her father said she was the best for nail trims--don't take up the actual groomers' time with that lowly task) that she is why she is able to trim nails with dogs on the floor when the others could not. According to her, professional groomers are not allowed to cut nails with dogs on the floor. Really? That is not my experience in my twelve years of owning dogs. We left quickly. Hartley was so upset that he was nearly hyperventilating for more than a half hour. Even his mama's soothing voice could not take away his angst. I felt helpless. On the ride home, he buried his head in the corner of the back seat next to the window that he normally loves to stick his head out of. I was devastated that my dog that loves everyone and everything had been so traumatized--and at a place with "Pampered" in its name. The definition of pampered is "indulged with every attention, comfort, and kindness; spoiled." My dog got NO PAMPERING OR TLC WHATSOEVER! No calming voice steadying him through the nail cut as he had straps all over him and was high up on a cold metal platform for the first time ever. It was appalling and inexcusable. Hartley is so easy to engage with and a very peaceful spirit. He warms up to everybody in a heartbeat. He deserved to be treated with respect and kindness at a minimum. I could not intervene because of Covid and masks and the fact that other peoples' animals were in the same room being groomed and deserved quiet. When I got home, I called the owner that had recommended Alexis and told him how upset I was that my dog was so upset by how he was handled at Pampered Puppies. I was in tears. He told me he saw my dog walking out and he was wagging his tail. I replied that dogs wag their tails for many reasons and it doesn't always indicate happiness. (A tail wagging to the right indicates positive emotions, and a tail wagging to the left indicates negative emotions. Any person with dog experience knows this.) No doubt Hartley was glad to be leaving that horror show. I certainly was. And then Mr. Insensitivity and Lack of Ownership had the nerve to suggest that perhaps my dog doesn't like car rides! O.M.G. 100% not true! And how dismissive and insulting. Never going back to that awful place. I feel so guilty for having exposed my dog to this. Wish I could rewind the tape and start over. Still upset and just writing this review is bringing tears to my eyes. Sorry, Hartley. It won't happen again. read more

My dog, Bear, has always been a great people dog, but did not have much interaction with other dogs. So on the leash when he met some dogs, he would get so excited and the more I'd try to rein him in, the more aggressive he became. Meltdown ensured. It got that I didn't look forward to walking him because of the tension. I first tried a small class at Pampered Puppies with Kevin, but it became clear that Bear on a leash in a small room with other dogs was just too much for him. We decided to turn the fee for the class into private training sessions. So for six weeks, we met with Kevin for an hour. Kevin and I walked around Linden Street, working on Bear's ability to center, to stay and most of all be in contact with me. We worked on my skills to handle situations. We worked indoors on getting Bear to "leave it" and be redirected. Treats are the trick, but learning when to give them, is the key to the trick. I have to emphasize that for once in my life I actually did the homework, really applied the tips on my daily walks with Bear. On "graduation" day, we patrolled Linden Square, showing off our improved skills at greeting people and other dogs. Just coming into Pampered's lobby, Bear is pretty well-behaved, and even if a bit fluttered, he can compose himself again quickly. Our post-session training is to hang out at various pet stores, just to get Bear habituated to seeing other dogs, basically desensitized. When you're running a business, you want people to come to your establishment and have positive memories- not negative ones. If you work in customer service, you should always try to maintain a professional image of yourself instead of lashing out if people have reasonable questions. If someone is simply confused about something there isn't a need to be rude and call someone nasty names. This isn't middle school. I have taken my two labradoodles several groomers in the Needham and Wellesley area and Kim and her team are by far the best! Kim, Alexis, Michael, Jared and Kevin clearly care for my 4 year old and 1 year old fur balls and are unbelievably accommodating with their individual temperaments. Kevin trained my puppy and the results were amazing! She is very social and knows all her commands that I feel safe with her both on and off leash. Their pick up service, appointment booking online and Apple Pay invoices make it super easy and why I have been a loyal customer since before their BEAUTIFUL new space on Linden Street opened. The Pampered Puppies grooming service was very disappointing. This was the third time I took my Golden to PP for grooming, and each time I was increasingly disappointed with the customer service. On this occasion, I provided updated vaccine information for my dog, but the owner, Micheal, found the format of the vaccine record unacceptable (I provided a vaccination invoice that included the vaccines and the date of the vaccination instead of an official vaccine record, something that I have done for every groomer and boarding facility where I've taken my dog). His attitude was more confrontational than cooperative and he was quite belligerent in his attempt to explain what kind of paperwork he wanted to see. I pointed out that all of the vaccine information he needed was included in the paperwork I provided, even though it wasn't in the typical vaccine record format. I was confused by his unwillingness to accept the vaccine update. He misinterpreted my confusion as anger, and he responded with a rather brusque and seemingly sarcastic retort, "Well, I'm sorry if I pissed you off." I was offended by his foul language and told him so. I left a tip for the groomer and left the business stunned by his caustic treatment. I think it would have been reasonable to tell me that PP prefers a vaccine record instead of a vaccine invoice and ask me to bring an official vaccine record to my dog's next visit. I would have been happy to do so. Unfortunately, I do not feel comfortable returning to do business with PP in the future. Micheal's belligerent demeanor and lack of courtesy prompted me to return to my dog's former groomer (who, by the way, was very happy to see us and kindly accepted the vaccination paperwork I provided). read more

I started going to Pampered Puppies since they were grooming at their house primarily because they took pride on taking care of animals and not letting them wait long hours in cages. I took my dog so that they would give her a bath and a cut for her appointment at 2:30pm at their Wellesley, MA location. Two hours passed and we called to check on how much longer it would be and were told that she still had another hour left. On all of the other times she had been there, it took about an hour or two max. When we called to check on her status again, the owner who identified herself as Kim, told us that they were running late. I told her that it was close to closing time and that my youngest daughter was going off to college the next day and I needed to pick up my dog so that we could attend a family dinner I had planned. She then responded by disrespectfully saying "Am I supposed to feel sorry for you?" When I showed up to pick up my dog hours later near closing time, they asked for a tip. Beware of their lack of professionalism. All they needed to do was to apologize for the inconvenience and lack of communication. This shows how poorly they have handled their increase in demand. Brought my 2.5 lab in today for the first time for a scheduled grooming. I received the recommendation from neighbors. They did a great job--she looks great, smells great and was clearly happy to be there. The grooming service had add ons so it took about an hour to complete. They also called me about 10 mins before they were done so that when I came for pick up she would be ready to go. Jared, her groomer, was super sweet and she really looks great. She came in with the remnants of pine pitch in her fur (I'd tried to get most of it out) and he managed to get the sticky pitch and mineral oil I'd used completely out. Thanks Jared! I've never been one to write a bad review, but every time I drive by this place I get upset I didn't write this sooner. This is months and months after my incident. I took my dog for grooming here several times last summer and usually had a positive experience. Kim, the groomer, was so sweet and always took great care of my dog. Michael, the guy at the front desk and also owner, had the personality of an annoyed and lazy teenager. It typically took several hours for them to groom my dog, and they'd call or text or both when she was done. This particular time was different. It had been about 2 hours and I was starting to wonder why I hadn't received a call, but figured it was taking longer (because they do a good grooming job). Finally at the 3 hour mark I looked at my phone and realized I missed a call from a Wellesley number, but had no voicemail. I called PP to see if they were the ones who called, if my dog was ready and Michael said, "Yeah, she's been ready for a while." I asked why they didn't leave a voicemail and he said my box was full. I didn't know that. So I asked why he hadn't text me, since they've done that in the past. He said his phone was dead. I told him I was sorry for missing the call, but they should've tried to call a second time. He shrugged and acted like it was a hassle to try contacting me again and said, "well, your dog was just waiting longer in the kennel." So bc he didn't bother to see if another employee had a phone to text me on (like Kim's....) and was too lazy to try calling me again my dog suffered by having to sit an extended time in a kennel. He literally made me feel like it was my fault my dog was in the kennel. I've never experienced such unprofessionalism and lack of care from someone. This place does a great job of grooming and the location is perfect, but I seriously refuse to take my dog there bc of the attitude of Michael. Months later I'm so upset about this interaction. And seeing how another yelper reviewed them indicating issues with his behavior I don't think mine was just an off day for him. read more
