We chose to work with Dinyee when our lab Samson was a young pup. We can't say enough about what a great decision this was. Having had a rather rambunctious and hard to train pup in the past I didn't want that experience again. For safety sake, I needed to know that anyone could walk our dog and that our dog would come when called. This was my goal in training but the outcome was so much more than I could have hoped for. We have been bringing our 1.5 year old bernedoodle, Bernie to Brookside since she was a puppy. We started with puppy play and learn, moved on to more formal 6 week training program and then she has continued to attend adult daycare (1-3 days a week depending on our work schedules). We have also boarded at Dinyee's home multiple times and our dog definitely thinks of Brookside's staff as part of the family. There is no easy way to put this: Our puppy died while under the supervision and care of Brookside Walk+Train. We had been using Brookside for daycare services (PPL) since December 2021. In February 2022, we were traveling out of town for the weekend and signed up for boarding services with Brookside for the first time for that weekend. We made our request several weeks ahead of time. We were assigned a boarder that our puppy had regularly interacted with while at daycare and was familiar with. When we dropped off our puppy to be boarded for that weekend, Brookside informed us at the last minute that the pre-assigned boarder was no longer available, and our puppy was re-assigned to a different boarder, who we believe was someone our puppy was not familiar with. The last minute nature of the change gave us little option but to go with the new boarder since our flight was very early the next morning. A few hours after we dropped off our puppy, we received a call from Brookside informing us that our puppy got loose while being transported, ran into the street, and died after being hit by a car. Needless to say, we were devastated. After this incident, we have been disappointed by how Brookside has handled the situation. For example, even after we followed up specifically to ask Brookside to refund us the money for services we had pre-paid for, it took them over 2 months to do so. As a result, we felt like we were being treated with lower priority. read more

We came to Dinyee after going to 3 other trainers with no luck. Our adopted adult dog, Oliver, had extreme anxiety, was unable to control his flight instincts, and was afraid to be outside. It was nearly impossible to go on walks with him because he would always try to pull so hard to get home. Even going to the bathroom outside was a struggle, as he would always try to run back home. My husband and I were very overwhelmed and didn't know what to do. When we brought Oliver to Brookside, it was apparent that Dinyee knew how to handle him. Every day during pick-up, she would take the time to review how he did during the day, and give us advise on how to manage him at home. After the 8 weeks, we also had 3 private sessions with Dinyee where she taught us how to use the training tools correctly to ensure we are able to continue our training at home. While the 8-week program is expensive, it was definitely a worth-while investment for us. Oliver is not totally over his issues (we didn't expect he would be "fixed" after only 8 weeks given his severity), but it is clear that Dinyee has given him enough of a foundation so my husband and I can continue training him at home. We know we have a lot of hard work ahead of us, but we are grateful for the help Dinyee provided to get us on the right path. For those considering Brookside, know that success comes with a lot of hard work. You should be prepared to put in just as much or more work than your dog. We took our 1 year old pup for an evaluation at Brookside Walk & Train a couple of weeks ago. We were interested in daycare, and since it's so close to our house, we wanted to check it out. We showed up 5 min early, and the owner made it seem like we were an inconvenience/rude for showing up "early." She never shook our hands or introduced herself, and she didn't knowledge our dog until the very end when she gave her a treat (but still didn't pet her or interact with her). Even before she sat down to speak with us, we knew it wasn't the place for us. All of the dogs were in crates, except for her dogs, who were walking on treadmills the entire 45 min we were there. They are not allowed to play/interact with each other. She complained about a dog who was whining in his crate, saying, with an eye-roll, "we have 3 whiners." She also uses shock collars, and proceeded to shock him until he eventually quieted down. Basically, Brookside will only take your dog if they have trained him/her themselves. They are VERY strict, and wouldn't even let an owner picking up her dog knowledge him until he did as they asked. Some people support this kind of training, but it's not for us. This place turns your dog into a robot, and doesn't let your dog be a dog. Know what you're getting into with this place. read more

Dinyee and the Brookside team are great and they really know how to work with your pup and their behavioral needs. When Penelope (mini Bernedoodle) and I first came to Brookside, she was a crazed hyperactive dog, but now I have a much calmer pup. When Penny and I first walked into the Brookside facility I saw the other dogs sitting patiently and thought, "That will NEVER be Penny!" But a couple months later and Penny was one of those dogs, sitting patiently and calmly! I'm so proud of Penny and everything she has learned from Dinyee. Every time you pick up your pup at the end of the day Dinyee takes the time to talk you through what your pup worked on and where they are in their training. The final "human training" classes after were extremely helpful to drive home what Penny had learned. I moved back to Boston last April and searched for a walking co. to take care of my high energy, high maintenance, sometimes hard to handle (and very loveable) lab/pit mix Jaymo. I've had six dogs throughout my life. They were all well trained and obedient. So when I get Adopted my seventh dog I assumed it would be lucky #7. He's a sweetheart but is fearful and has terrible separation anxiety. After trying my best to be able to leave the house without him screaming the entire time. We tried behaviorist and a psychiatrist for dogs, who wanted to put him on Prozac. Our dog Ledley had been going to a great daycare place for almost three years. Everyone over there loved him and he loved them, but it wasn't doing much for his manners. When I changed jobs, the daycare place was no longer convenient, so we had to find an alternative. Enter Dinyee Boose. She came over to do an initial "meet and greet." We walked around the neighborhood with Ledley and another of her training dogs. Needless to say, the other dog was much more well behaved than Ledley, who couldn't stand walking beside a dog whose butt he hadn't yet sniffed. It has now been about four months since Dinyee started taking Ledley out on long walks in the woods with a pack of 8 or 9 other pooches. He hangs with them four days a week and is learning a lot of new etiquette. He no longer barks his brains out every time I have a ball in my hand, which is nice. He's also getting calmer across the board. He is crate trained and has developed a newfound love of the thing since learning that going in in the morning means eventually hanging out with Dinyee later. Dinyee does not mess around. She plays hardball with these pups, having trained several police dogs in her day. Ledley can't get away with half the stuff he pulls at home when he's with her. Which is good. Every Monday he acts like a tool because we've been spoiling him rotten all weekend. By the end of the week he's back on track. Dinyee must get so frustrated with us. But I promise, we are trying. As far as logistics are concerned, we've never had any problems whatsoever. Dinyee is totally dependable and always leaves a note about how the day went. I've been using Brookside Walk + Train for almost six months now, and I'm so happy that I decided to go with Dinyee and her crew. The first thing that appealed to me is that they don't take the dogs to dog parks. I agree with this completely! They make the extra effort to bring the dogs to wild areas where they can explore and not be forced into interactions with aggressive or unknown dogs. This shows me that they have the dogs' best interests in mind. The second thing that impressed me is that they really focus on the training aspect of dog handling. I have a 2 year old Jack Russell Terrier who is adorable but can be very assertive. With Dinyee and Dana as trainers, she gets consistent reinforcement of positive behaviors and has become much more comfortable with other dogs. Dinyee, the owner of the company, gave me a free hour consultation, and handled Polly for the first month of walking. This gave her a chance to see Polly in action and observe any undesirable behaviors first hand. After a month of intense training, she handed Polly off to Dana, who has been incredible as well. All the dog walkers are certified and go through an internship with Dinyee before being allowed to walk and train. It's a ton of extra value, for the same price as other dog walking companies. Finally, they just seem to really like Polly. I get nice notes and texts, and once when Polly had a seizure (not while she was walking!), Dinyee texted and emailed periodically just to see how she was doing. My with her experience was cold, distant, I got the impression that I was taking up her time even though I had a scheduled consultation. I used the dog home check-in/walking service and I came home from vacation to find poop on the floor that had obviously been there for more than a day during the time the pet checkers were scheduled to be there. I have used the training service and found it unorganized and not worth the very high price I paid. I have gotten more good out of YouTube videos than I did that training class. As a first time dog owner, I didn't know what I didn't know about dog behavior and being a good pack leader. Luckily, two friends recommended Brookside & Dinyee when I adopted my rescue. Within minutes of meeting my dog, Dinyee sized him up and we started training and walking with Brookside immediately. Dinyee invested time, effort and care both in my dog and me. We eventually used and ecollar as a training & communication method. My dog is sensitive and she trained me to use the ecollar on the very lowest setting to be both safe and effective. Most importantly, I know that she is on our side. When I'm frustrated with myself, she reminds me how far we've come and helps me refocus. After researching extensively for a professional dog walker, I came across Brookside Walk + Train (owned and operated by Dinyee Boose) and was impressed by the many options available to clients, including off leash romps through the woods, the option to have your dog trained on walks, and the option to integrate your dog into a pack. However, don't ask Dinyee to bring your dog to a dog park. Dinyee is extremely knowledgable about dog behavior and the pack mentality and does not believe in bringing dogs to dog parks because of the danger of already established packs and the allowance of dominant behaviors, such as humping, etc, by uneducated dog owners. I totally agree! This was one of the many things we discussed during our free consultation, which lasted almost 3 hours! Her philosophy and approach is really a breath of fresh air. She really is an expert in her field who truly cares about dogs and knows how to "speak their language", which makes her stand out from the other dog walkers in Jp, who often take 10 dogs to the Beecher street park and ignore them. We now have Dinyee do 40 minute walks 2x a week for our dog Rocco, a cute, but pushy black/lab beagle mix. He absolutely adores her and we have noticed a significant change in his behavior- just from the walks! He is less dog aggressive and spends much less time digging through the trash while my boyfriend and I are at work. Using Dinyee's tips, Rocco is also beginning to realize he is not the alpha in the family! Furthermore, we are comfortable knowing for sure that Rocco is in good hands during the day. When we met Dinyee, our dog Blue was a 1.5 year old Italian Mastiff. We have two young kids and we were becoming fearful that our dog was too big and too aggressive for them. Along came Dinyee, and 6 months later we have a model dog. That's not to say it took 6 months. The results were almost immediate. She gives you the tools to have a well-behaved dog that listens and interacts well with people and other dogs. When we first got our dog, we tried using a dog trainer, who was wonderful, but very unreliable. Then we tried doggie day care, which was convenient and great, but our pooch picked up some nasty habits! Then we found Dinyee. When I first called, Dinyee spent a good half hour on the phone with me explaining her methods, prices, options, etc. She then came to the house to meet our dog, Ozzie. Ozzie acted like quite a jerk, and Dinyee told us so. To be honest, I was pretty taken aback. How dare she say such things about our angel! However, the truth is, he WAS being a jerk, and we needed to hear it. We did basic dog training with Dinyee and a small group of other dogs with similar issues to Ozzie's. The difference was noticeable almost immediately. Oz learned to walk on a leash nicely, how to feel more secure in himself and in us, and how to be a much better doggie citizen. Dinyee has really done wonders for us. I (now) appreciate Dinyee's no BS attitude, and that she understands how dogs think. I also appreciate that she is open to questions. We've been with Brookside since our 5 year old dog Kevin was a puppy. Dinyee helped us train him as a puppy, and he's gone on multiple walks a week for the past 5 years. He adores Dinyee and all of her staff, we are thrilled knowing that when he's in their care he is happy and safe! Recently, after welcoming 2 new babies into the family, Kevin needed some refreshing on his training. He did a two week course at the (beautiful and new) facility, and Dinyee came to our house to teach us and show us how to use his new e-collar. He is doing wonderful since his training. He has always been an anxious dog who would loudly bark and growl at other dogs, and he'd run from us as well. Now he is calm, knows to go to his bed when we command him, and if he does get anxious and amped up, we can quickly and easily redirect him using his commands and the e-collar. My parents now frequently request for him to stay with them and they don't want to give him back because he's so calm now! We interviewed Dinyee to be our dog walker. Our dog barks at all people as they first walk in, but warms up after getting to know them. She has never bitten anyone and is more afraid of people than anything else. Dinyee immediately began criticizing us on how we raise our dog without even getting to know us. There was no handshake, no formal introduction, and nothing professional about her. She was downright rude. I am more than open to having someone teach us about things about our dog, but let's get to know people before you judge them and treat them poorly. I really cannot say enough good things about Brookside Walk and Train. My 1 year old energetic pit mix Ronnie has been going on walks with Dana for about a month now. I have tried other dog walking services in the past and I was not thrilled because the walker was either not competent at handling my unique pup, he was not tired after the walks, or he would be back to his old tricks pulling on the leash when I took him out myself. I have had just the opposite experience with Brookside, not only is Ronnie much more calm when I return home but his behavior has actually improved since starting his walks! Dana always leaves detailed notes of the walks and even has given me tips on handling problem behaviors. Dinyee has also been incredibly supportive and helpful in my training with Ronnie, she periodically checks in to ask how everything is going and came to my apartment before he started walks and stayed over an hour to talk about what we have been working on and give training suggestions.
