On Call Pet Services is run by Kelly Lapre, who works with a team of other people. We've only interacted with Kelly, and have found her to be very responsive (as in, nearly always responds within in 15 minutes of an email) and 100% available (she has never once said no to a gig). For cat sitting (2 cats, uncomplicated needs), her rate has been $16, which I find very reasonable. That said, we have been working with Kelly for about a year and a half, and recently decided to switch to another cat sitter. This was not because of anything overwhelmingly egregious on Kelly's part, but rather that we've had better services from other sitters in the past and would like to return to that. For instance, other sitters have always texted us pictures and updates about our cats. With Kelly, I found that she'll give me a brief update if I email to check in, but that's it. I would've preferred if she texted pics daily with every visit as a standard. (Note: When I emailed Kelly to share some concerns/feedback and ask for our keys to be returned, she stated that she is happy to do this for her clients upon request.) Another example is that over a longer gig (4 days) this summer, we returned home to an empty water bowl and two very thirsty cats. When I asked about it over email, Kelly wrote, "I gave them water every time I saw them just like I always do. I have been watching cats daily in the heat for ten years and two cats will empty a bowl of water in one day when it's hot. The water bowl is not big and now that I think of it it was empty each time I came so maybe when your [sic] home you fill it more often or there is another issue." I concur with Kelly that it's possible that a combination of heat, cats, time, etc may have led to the water bowl winding up empty by the time we got home (a day after her last visit), but what concerns me is that she noticed the bowl being continuously empty, and did not reach out to us. I would've been 100% okay with her putting down another water bowl (even without asking us). Also, increased drinking in cats can be a sign of something pretty serious, and I would like to have a pet sitter that has the awareness and expertise to alert me to something like this. Again, not canceling our service because of major issues, but rather some minor ones that overall just put us off. ETA: Kelly said that she mailed my key back to me. It was never received. read more

For the last year, Kelly Lapre of On Call Pet Service has taken care of my Jack Russell Terrier Theo, and there is NO ONE I trust more than her, PERIOD. Kelly's rates are very reasonable, and Kelly's very dependable. Kelly's also accommodating. Once when Theo was with Kelly, I ended up in the emergency room, and was unable to care for Theo for a couple of days. Kelly kept Theo until I could resume caring for him. Kelly loves animals, and animals love her. Kelly also took care of my first dog about 10 years ago, and he also loved Kelly. Kelly sends pictures to me frequently, to show how much fun Theo's having. When Kelly comes to pick him up in the morning to take him out for the day, Theo shoots down the stairs, to get into her car, because he knows he's going to have a blast. For cat owners, I have recommended Kelly to one of the most difficult people I know who needed someone to care for her cat who has cardiac issues. Kelly was responsible for feeding him, making sure his water bowl was filled, and checking on his well-being. When my neighbor came back she went out of her way to tell me how grateful she was that I recommended Kelly to her. I believe Kelly provides one of the most important qualities that all animal lovers want, peace of mind knowing your pet is going to feel loved and cared for while you're gone. read more

On Call Pet Service - Happy customer - Pet Boarding Near Me

My fiancé and I employed On Call Pet Services for about six months before we moved states. Kelly is so great and responsive and that made it really easy for us, especially since our schedules are erratic. Kelly was always kind and was relaxed about last minute cancellations or special requests. Equally important, our dog walker was awesome! He always took great care of our dog and we are so, so grateful. On Call Per Services are a great company for (relatively) affordable and comprehensive pet care. I recommend them highly! read more

On Call Pet Service - Pet Boarding Near Me

We've been using On Call Pets for over 2 years and they have NEVER let us down! We primarily work with Shelby and Cat but have also worked with the owner, Kelly. I knew our pups were in excellent hands, but that was confirmed when (due to surgery) I was home when Shelby or Cat came over a few times and our dogs were very excited to see them and were jumping with joy and giving kisses. Shelby has also dog-sat for us overnight and was wonderful about sending us pictures and updates, often sharing a picture of Marvin snuggling with her. I think what really sets On Call Pets apart is the excellent communication, their passion for the animals they work with, and also the very reasonable prices. I had used other services in the past before moving to Brookline that I thought were fine, but On Call Pets blows them all out of the water. read more

My first time hiring them to watch my cat and I couldn't be happier. Kelly is super responsive and kept sending pictures and updates. My cat Albus, seemed to be well taken care of and a good mood when I returned. read more

We had such a great first experience with Kelly! She was extremely attentive, really good about sending us photo/video updates everyday and was really thoughtful when it came to our little man. Simba seemed very chill when we came home and it's all because he was in Kelly's capable care. 5/5 stars-would highly reccomend! read more

Amazing service. Everyone is super friendly and my dog Ioves them. Super reliable, even was able to drop my dog off at the groomer for me one day after his walk read more

On Call Pet Service has been taking care of our dog Simon for 5+ years. They're absolutely amazing! We first met Kelly when our previous petsitter fell through while we were already on vacation. We frantically called around and Kelly was quick to reply back, step in, and help our dog when we were miles away. Kelly is quick and responsive to communication and scheduling. We've had several members of the On Call Pet Service take care of Simon and he loves them all. They play with him, make sure he has everything he needs, and leave us notes about how he did with each walk. When we've had concerns about Simon, they make sure to address them and keep us up to date on our dog's condition. Can't recommend them enough! read more

Kelly & her associate Jenna are absolute professionals and amazing with my 1-year-old Shorkie Giblet. Plus their rates are SO REASONABLE FOR SUCH A THOROUGH SERVICE! Jenna NEVER (seriously, not once) missed a walkie. And the best part - her daily, detailed, reports on which toy he played with, which dogs in the dog park he hung out with, and what bodily functions occurred. Kelly and Jenna have saved us on several occasions when we had late evenings and needed a 2nd walkie. And they do weekends -- and have come to check on the cat/scoop litter when we've taken the puppy with us for a few days too. Professional. Awesome. Giblet seriously looks a little disappointed when I walk through the door as if he's saying, "dang, I thought you were Jenna...". read more

On call pet service continues to be man (and dog's) best friend! While I was out of town, my dog Peppy had two seizures. Jo, my sitter/walker, took her straight to Angell (it was 2AM) and called the owner Kelly. The two of them stayed with her and called me frequently with updates. Jo checked in via text and calls the entire time Peppy was hospitalized and is so caring. Peppy loves her walkies with Jo and is always a happy, tired dog after. I love on call pet service and highly recommend them!! read more

First - I should clarify - I didn't actually use On Call Pet Service's services. I just contacted them as a possible pet sitter for my dog while I was out of town. I discovered that they don't stay overnight - which is what a pet-sitter does. They only do short visits and walks - so they are more like a dog-walking service, in my opinion. I was annoyed with this company's lack of communication and lack of basic information. After a couple of initial emails, I spent half an hour typing information about my pets and their needs - only to get a short, perfunctory explanation that they don't stay overnight. And these emails lacked capitalization and punctuation - always a bad sign. She did offer to refer me to some girl who does pet-boarding at her home - but that is not pet-sitting either. Not helpful. She seemed nice enough and may be great at pet care - just lacking a bit of basic professionalism. read more

I wouldn't leave my pet with anyone else. Kelly is caring, knowledgeable, and responsible. Her attentiveness to our pet was evident by our (usually stressed out) kitty's happy demeanor once we returned home. He usually shreds the couch and displays destructive behavior when left alone. What a pleasant surprise to come home to a happy cat and an in-tact house to boot! Moreover, Kelly was professional and quick to provide credentials and insurance information without even being asked. On-Call's prices are very reasonable. For $20, Kelly visited our little one twice a day! Not to mention the fact that she looked out for the overall well-being of our home -- brought in the mail, flipped on and off the A/C and heat for our pet, etc. However, Kelly's professionalism really shined through when she single-handedly thwarted a utility emergency in our home. This could have been a disaster -- especially given the fact that I was overseas and helpless to do anything -- but Kelly handled it and the issue was resolved before I got home or had much time to worry. I had contacted On-Call at the last minute because my usual sitter was busy. I can now say that Kelly will be replacing my regular sitter due to her exceptional service! read more

Kelly is absolutely wonderful. My husband and I have 3 cats, and they're quite a handful. Two of them take medication (one needs meds twice a day), one cat has to be separated at all times from the other two or a bloodbath ensues, and they all eat different prescription food. It is not an easy job, and Kelly handles them with ease. Plus, all of the cats absolutely adore her. Going away used to be a nightmare because they normally hate strangers, but they can't get enough of Kelly. Kelly really cares about animals, and treats our pets as if they were her own. Her prices are reasonable, and the service is unmatched. I wish I could give On Call Pet Service more than 5 stars! read more

Kelly did a great job taking care of our shy cat while we were gone for two and a half weeks. She even came during the Bomb Cyclone! We told her we could have a neighbor come then, but she said as long as travel wasn't banned, she would come. I consider that service above and beyond. She was excellent and our skittish cat didnt even hide when she came! read more

On Call Pet Service - Happy Kitty - Pet Boarding Near Me

On Call Pet Service is fantastic. Kelly is great about last minute walks and cancellations and very flexible in general. Unlike other walking services, I never need to worry that Gus will be forgotten about or not taken out - Kelly and her team (Gus gets walked by Susan) are super reliable. Kelly even boards Gus when I go out of town. When I was doing inital research on dog walkers after adopting Gus, I had made a few calls and sent some emails. Two of the walkers I reached out to weren't accepting new clients but BOTH recommended Kelly. If that's not a good sign, I'm not sure what is! read more

On Call Pet Service is amazing! Kelly allows me to give her my schedule Sunday for the week and is extremely flexible. At first I was hesitant to give my keys to anyone, but the staff here is extremely responsible and caring. Kelly's associate Kayla works with my dog Gabby the majority of the time. She is amazing! My dog is having anxiety at the dog park and she gives me daily feedback as well as text/calls to chat about it. She even went out of her way to meet me at the dog park with a one-on-one trainer. That is above and beyond! I have left her with Kayla for the weekend on several occasions and have no worries while I am gone. Gabby loves Kayla! I much prefer Kelly's dog walking services over doggy daycare. She gets much more one-on-one attention and I feel like they truly know my dog. read more

Kelly was great with our two cats. My gf and I went away for 9 days and left a senior cat who needed daily medication and a 6 month old kitten who needed daily play-time and all went well. We came home to clean litter boxes, clean and full water dishes, and both cats seemed to be in great spirits. Kelly gave us regular updates and even a couple pictures of the cats while we were away. Overall a great experience and EXCEPTIONAL customer service. We travel often and will definitely be using On Call Pet Service again. read more

I moved to Coolidge Corner on 9/1 of this year and I was worried I wouldn't find a reliable walker. However, I read the positive yelp reviews and decided to contact Kelly to see if she had any openings. She responded very quickly and set up a meet and greet with Shelby. The day after Shelby started walking my dog Scarlett! I was impressed with the quick turnaround. Additionally, Shelby and Kelly are very flexible with walk schedules. If I'm working from home or sick, they're both understanding if I need to cancel or change the time last-minute. Its also very clear how much Shelby loves dogs! Her and Scarlett get along so well! Scarlett always looks forward to her walks. Thank you Kelly and Shelby! OnCallPets is amazing! read more

Kelly and her team are great pet sitters! I was nervous about going out of town and leaving my kitty in someone else's care, but they do a lot of things really nicely: * All of my emails were promptly returned. * The rate is very reasonable. * I got an email every day with a picture of my cat and a status update. And I could just tell my cat was happy and comfortable in these photos. A mom knows. * Keys were returned promptly and easily. * When I got back, the litter box was clean and the food and water bowls were full. I would recommend this service to anyone looking for reliable pet care and peace of mind! read more

I'm kicking myself for not finding On Call Pets sooner! Kelly and Shelby have been tremendous. From my very first phone call, they made everything happen so seamlessly. Kelly is extremely responsive, always replying within minutes to my emails. Shelby showed so much care and kindness to our senior pup. If I could give them 10 stars, I would in a heartbeat. I love the updates I get after a visit - always good to know my dog is happy and taken care of when we are not at home. read more

I rescued a puppy this summer and met with three different dog walking companies. At the meet and greet with On Call Pets, I knew instantly that I was going to go with them. Shelby was so personable and effortlessly engaged with my dog. I also mention that we had a vet appointment and she was like, oh he's probably getting these shots as he is x months old. I was really impressed with her knowledge of dogs and her interaction with mine. My work schedule can be crazy with meetings and yet Kelly always somehow accommodates modifications or add ons. And my dog walker, Devin, is such a great human. He has shattered my expectations of a dog walker. He treats my pup as if he were his own and goes way above and beyond. After walks are completed he provides a full report on how my dog behaved and who he played with. He's also incredibly knowledgeable about dogs ~ always telling me about temperament, age, breeds. As a new dog mom it's nice to have this extra resource. And my dog loves Devin, which is the most important thing. He jumps like crazy when Devin comes in. I'm actually moving out of state for a career opportunity and Devin was definitely on the top of my list as to reasons not to accept/move. We will be lost without him. I am so comfortable with my dog being in his care and my dog will be waiting at the door around noon. read more

We've used On Call Pet Service for a few months now since my cat (Mimi, age 18) needed daily medication for her hyperthiroid. Kelly was great, responsive, responsible, had such compassion and care for Mimi and would always let us know if anything didn't go according to plan. In addition, Kelly's flexible schedule was a great help, especially for last minute situations. I felt complete at ease knowing that Kelly would go spend time with and give Mimi her medication. Also, the pricing was very reasonable ($16 a visit) and she made it easy to complete payments with a variety of options! Highly recommended! read more

We found Kelly by recommendation from another trusted pet parent and could not be happier with her. From my first interaction with her over the phone, she has always been so responsive and professional. We use Kelly's services when we go away to look after our two kitties and it is such a comfort to know that we don't have to worry about our little ones while we're away because they are in good hands with Kelly. She always sends us picture updates, which we look forward to and immediately responds with any questions we may have. We couldn't be happier to have found On Call Pet Service. read more

Have been using On Call Pet Service for over 2 years at this point for walking my dog Mon-Fri while I'm at work. Kelly is very flexible and understands cancellations and added walks (as we have requested some Saturday walks if we would be gone for a while). We've never had an issue and love the walkers who walk our dog. They are very consistent in writing notes every day in the notebook we leave out so we know what happened during the walk. We've mainly had two walkers, Kayla and Sarah (I believe it was Sarah as she hasn't walked my dog in over a year). Kayla is wonderful in writing in the notebook and she will occasionally post a picture of the walk on their Facebook page. I can always tell that my dog is having a great time with her! We've also had Kelly watch my dog for a weekend and everything went really well. She would update us with pictures and we could tell he was happy where he was. Couldn't recommend On Call Pet Service enough read more

I was very concerned because this was my first time looking for a pet sitter for my cat, Matilda. Kelly was amazing. My cat is kind of shy and she takes a while to warm up to strangers. However, when Kelly came home for the first time to meet Matilda, she came out almost right away to say hi, so I was very pleased. Kelly is an easy-going yet very professional pet sitter. Her experience with cats, her time flexibility and her responsiveness gave me confidence to hire On Call Pet Service for the first time. But her disposition and the fact that she sent pictures of my cat while I was gone (before I would even ask) gave me the assurance to reach out to her next time I need a pet sitter. read more

My kitty, and I, just love Kelly! She's always able to accommodate last minute requests... even on holiday weekends! Can you say lifesaver?!

On Call Pets is a trustworthy & affordable pet care company in the Boston area- which is super hard to find! Staff goes out of their way to make sure the needs of the animals are being met. This is, hands down, the best company I have ever hired - for anything. I have been with them since January when my puppy was 4 months old. Kelly (the owner) runs an extremely down-to-earth business making herself and her walkers flexible to client needs. Her accommodating service is truly a rare find- taking cancellations the night (or morning) before, calling last minute because the puppy can't be alone more than 5 hours, etc. It's also worth mentioning that of the 10+ companies I called when I was hunting for a dog walker, Kelly had the best prices of them all. Kelly's walkers are absolutely wonderful. Jo has been my walker since January and she is just as crazy about my puppy as I am. It's difficult to work full-time and have a puppy, and I always felt bad leaving her alone during the day when I went off to work. Not anymore! Jo comes and takes Ellie on adventures to the dog park, meets friends, gets some exercise, goes to the bathroom - everything a puppy could want! Jo always leaves a note to keep me up to speed - and a few times when Ellie hasn't been feeling well, she's also taken the time to call or text me to let me know everything is okay. I can't possibly say enough positive things about On Call Pet Service. If you're looking for a dog walker for every day, or even every once in a while, look no further. Your dog will appreciate it =) read more

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE On Call Pet Services! Kelly and her dog walkers have taken amazing care of our little hound. I read a ton of reviews and chatted with a lot of folks at the dog park before choosing to leave our dog in the capable hands of Kelly and her dog walker, Kayla -- I couldn't be happier. I almost feel guilty on the weekends when Daisy doesn't get to see Kayla for a walk. What I love: - They are super flexible. I text or email our unpredictable schedule on Sunday night. - Daisy is exhausted -- I can tell she is really getting attention. - Daisy is head over heals for Kayla (there is serious tail wagging), and Kayla adores our little hound - Kayla leaves daily notes about their adventures, and they are written with the sense of humor necessary for a note that details a pet's bathroom habits among other things. - There's no mess. Kayla always wipes off Daisy's paws when they get back. - Kayla was able to watch Daisy while we were out of town, and she kept us updated with photo texts and cute notes. I don't think Daisy missed us at all! We would be lost without these guys! read more

I can't even tell you how much our dog loves Shelby from On Call Pets! Ellie's a rescue and can be picky with people, and they really worked with us to find a dog walker that Ellie would be comfortable with. I used Kelly twice for cat sitting while I was on vacation. She was nice and I am sure she took care of our cat well. She seemed to like pets. I had some problems with her though, that made me stop using her service. - She cancelled picking up or bringing our key four times. The reasons were related to health issues (food poisoning twice), traffic, and once some attack on her car. She eventually had someone else bring the key. - On second vacation (2 weeks) she forgot to bring up the mail from mailbox. I was not happy with this, especially since we had gone through the tasks together and in addition I wrote instructions on paper. Our mailman was not happy with too full mailbox. I would understand if she forgot once but for two weeks... - Something else had also happened on the second visit as Kelly claimed that our cat had opened the freezer and taken pizza from there. I cannot understand how our cat would or could open the freezer (he doesn't open even doors). Also we did not have any pizza in the freezer or fridge or trash or anywhere. Something had happened with the freezer though, since all the food seemed to be melted and refrozen again. read more

Pros: Close to where I live Cheap - seriously the cheapest pet sitting I have personally found in the Boston area My pet and (most) plants were alive when I returned from vacation Cons: Not professional - this mirrors some of the other experiences mentioned in comments, there is not a professional tone to email or phone conversations whatsoever, nor is there a timeliness of communication. Never met in person - again, as some of the other comments have stated, Kelly did not meet my pet in person due to "food poisoning" and sent another employee to take her place. This resulted in me not getting to meet the actual person who cared for my pet nor to show them some of the nuances of my pet's care (he was recently in the ICU for kidney failure). Conclusion: Though the price is unbeatable, I will be going with another company in the future due to the unprofessionalism of Kelly and her employees. read more

VERY, unprofessional. The first time I was greeted on the phone was with a rude loud hello, sounding as if I was bothering them. I then had to ask if they were even 'On Call Pet Service'. After that point it just went down hill. Save yourself the hassle and dignity, there are many other sitters around that are much more professional. read more

Kelly is great. She has stepped in to cat sit for me on very short notice on three separate occasions due to family emergency and other cat sitters backing out at the last minute. I've used her on at least four different trips out of town, some as long as a week, and came home to happy cats each time. I don't plan to use any other cat sitters while I live in the Brookline area. I feel totally comfortable leaving my cats in her care. She clearly adores the one cat I've seen her interact with and that cat clearly adores her. The second time I called her up, she didn't remember my name but asked what my cats' names were so that she could remember, which she then did. Totally the right priorities for a cat sitter. read more
