Argos Dog Training has transformed our dog's behavior and our relationship with her. We 100% recommend Martin and Argos Dog Training. Training with Argos was the best decision we could have made!
We have just completed basic obedience training sessions with Martin. The success of the training exceeded our expectations in all ways. Martin is an amazing trainer and a great person who makes the process fun and efficient. Martin has an expert team - Jonathan and Chris - who are both expert dog trainers; they assisted in each training session. We recommend the Argos team in the highest way possible. We are going to sign up for advanced, off-leash training, and our dog participates in the new Argos structured daycare.
One year ago, we adopted a rescue pitbull who is now three years old. She is 60 pounds and quite strong. We tried hard to train her on our own, but did not have much success. Walks with her were something my fiancé and I did not look forward to. Our dog would pull on the leash/harness endlessly (so much that my fiancé threw out her back), would sniff everything making walks incredibly slow, and was reactive to other dogs.
We contacted Martin for training, and he met with us to tell us about his philosophy. He emphasized communication between us and our dog. At the time, we understood his point but did not fully understand how bad we were at communicating with our dog. After training, our dog now knows that we are speaking to her, and we are trying to tell her something. As a result, she behaves and does what we ask. Also, we can train her to do new tricks and follow new commands in little time because the communication has improved so much. Martin's training approach relies on repetition, consistency, and positive reinforcement. We are very supportive of Martin's philosophy and have seen how effective it is.
We did six private (individual) lessons followed by six group lessons with Martin, Jonathan, and Chris. All three members of Argos were present at each session, so we had three trainers helping us simultaneously. The private sessions taught us the basics of how to communicate with our dog and how to teach and perfect all the basic obedience commands (sit, down, place, come, heel, watch me, and so on). Each week Martin gave us specific homework to work on before the next session. We emailed him every night to update him on our progress, and he responded with suggestions and encouragement to every single email. We then did six group sessions in which the basic obedience was reinforced with other dogs present. These sessions helped us progress with basic training, but even more so, our dog has become more comfortable around other dogs and distractions.
With the training, there are many things that come for free once you are part of the Argos family. There are pack walks on Sunday mornings to practice proper walking and obedience as a team. Martin is available at all times to help with any problems or questions that come up. Martin knows so much and we have learned so much just by emailing Martin whenever we had a question or by telling him all the things that happened during our homework training sessions.
Our dog is now a part of the Argos Structured Daycare where she learns how to properly interact with other dogs. We have seen a major improvement in this area. She is much less reactive to other dogs because she now feels more comfortable from the guidance she received during structured daycare, group sessions, and pack walks.
We now enjoy and look forward to walks with our dog. Our bond with her has grown because we communicate with her more effectively. We are indebted to Martin and his team for their help. We feel lucky to have Martin working with our dog. He is a talented trainer, but beyond that, he is a great person who is very giving of his time at all moments. We highly recommend the training programs and structured daycare. We plan to be a part of the Argos family for a long time! read more
