This past week my dog Macy got into some trash and ended up eating 2 cobs of corn. We took her to VEG around 2:00 am and despite how late it was, every single person was cheery and beyond kind to us. The open concept allowed us to stay with our dog as they evaluated her and it made my dogs anxiety much more manageable. They suggested we come back for a second visit to make sure she was okay and I'm so glad we did because my pup ended up needing surgery to remove the corn cobs due to a blockage. Dr. Mader and every single staff person we encountered was so professional. They even offered to set up an air mattress for us and let us order food since we had such a long stay. I really haven't experienced customer service like this before and I couldn't recommend them more. I'm so attached to my dog and had so many nerves when she got sick. You can 100% trust that your pet will be taken care of! Macy is now a week post op and feeling great. Thank you all so much for taking care of her!!

Sadly my kitten was beyond help. We ended up having to euthanize him here due to FIP. We were heartbroken I went to an ER before going here that was horrible and were told he was fine but I guess it was a blessing in disguise so we could be treated with kindness at this location with our kittens final hours. Everyone was so kind and helpful and most importantly sympathetic to us. It was also a clean facility, we have a private room, and we were able to take our time and grieve. I will forever be grateful to this facility for making one of the worst days of my life a little more bearable. Hopefully I will never need to go to them again but if I do I know myself and my pet will be treated well.

My new puppy, Harper, picked up the butt of a discarded joint while on a walk, and unfortunately got messed up. When I was a hysterical, crying mess, everyone at VEG was kind, caring, professional, and didn't make me feel weird or embarrassed for being panicked and hysterical. They took in Harper instantly, and within 30 minutes had given her an IV and medicine. We were in and out quickly, with exceptional advice about how to get her better. She slept it off and was back to her regular puppy self the next morning. I wish they did regular check ups because we would be first in line! Thank you VEG for everything!

Could not be happier with my visit here. My son Chatty was having urinary issues for the past couple of weeks and I was already feeling a bit burned by my experience at Blue Pearl when I decided to come here for his second emergency visit within 2 weeks. Whoever answered the phone was already much more professional and helpful with triaging the situation than the other emergency rooms I had called that evening. When I got Chatty in, the team was efficient, compassionate, and I never got the feeling that they were trying to upsell me on unnecessary services. They laid out their recommendations and worked with me to create a treatment plan we were all on board with. I even received a message from the evening vet when she signed out to the late night team with updates on Chatty's condition and an additional test she ordered that was at no cost to me. I also think the prices are better than Blue Pearl. Finally, the layout of the clinical area is that pet owners can be very close to the "action" of the treatment. I understand this may not be for everyone but I appreciated being able to see how my pet was being treated by the team (they were very gentle and professional). I also work in healthcare so am not squeamish around needles or blood. Street parking was easy in the evening and morning hours. Attached picture of my baby when he was serving Handmaid's Tale :(

From the moment we called ahead to say we were on our way, the staff were incredibly responsive and ready for us when we arrived. They quickly assessed the situation, diagnosed the issue, and carried out the necessary procedures. The clinic itself was very clean, welcoming, and well equipped. Dr. Estes explained everything clearly--what was happening, the prognosis, and what we should do next. The techs / nurses--Kim Nguyen, Kendra Baker, and Jennifer Ducharme--were also wonderful: professional, patient, and very caring. They were attentive throughout the entire process while our Pomeranian was undergoing sedation, and you could tell they genuinely cared. I'm sure they see situations like this every day, but they still treated our dog with the attention and care he needed. Small things like that matter. These are clearly very capable people who could work in many different fields--including human medicine--but they choose to care for pets, and it shows. I would absolutely recommend this clinic and would return again if needed. My one tip: call ahead so they can prepare for your arrival.

She needed immediate care, and many places were closed by that time. It was about 9pm, luckily VEG ER was open, we called and brought our hamster 15 minutes later. They immediately jumped into action checking her symptoms and seeing whatever they could do to help her. Eventually, we were told that she had Urinary Tract Infection, we were offered a few solutions, but one of the main veterinarians who was helping, gently told us the likely outcome. We were able to say goodbye to the hamster, and my daughter got to hold her up to almost the end. They led us into a room so that my daughter and I could discuss next steps, they gave us time and they were very understanding. When we received our pet in her urn, we also received a handwritten card with the signatures of all the VEG ER employees who were telling us that they were sorry for our loss. It was a very sentimental time, and we appreciate everything that VEG ER did for us. If anything every happens to your pet, I recommend VEG ER because of their kindness, also, they are open 24/7 so there is always someone there to help you and your beloved companion.

She was cold, condescending, and completely dismissive, presenting every decision as if it were hers alone and speaking down to us rather than guiding or consulting us as the pet's family. There was no compassion, no kindness, and no sense of understanding during one of the most terrifying moments of our lives with a very sick dog. Her explanations were nonstop, filled with complex medical jargon, as if she's reading from a clinical textbook and offered no pause for questions or clarification. We were left so frustrated and distrusting that we had to use ChatGPT on-site just to research possible causes and try to understand what might be happening -- something no pet owner should ever have to do while in an emergency veterinary clinic. Adding insult to injury, the prices were outrageously high, completely disproportionate to the level of care, communication, or thoughtful evaluation we received. The interaction felt rushed, transactional, and almost robotic, prioritizing speed and cost over empathy or genuine concern for our pet's wellbeing. Additionally, it looks like she recently graduated from vet school yet she was the only vet on staff when she was there. Worse, reading other reviews on both Yelp and Google Reviews revealed a clear pattern: multiple pet owners describe the same condescending, intimidating, and confusing behavior from this particular veterinarian, with alarming recommendations delivered abruptly, leaving families feeling pressured, unheard, and unsupported. This is not an isolated incident -- it is a repeated pattern of behavior. Pet owners deserve honesty, clear explanations, and true compassion when their pets' lives are on the line. Dr. Schwartz fails on all counts, treating owners like they have no voice and prioritizing her own authority over guidance, empathy, or care. Warning to all pet owners: avoid this practice if you value compassion, trust, 2 way communication, and the wellbeing of your pet.

He saved my life many times over, I adopted him when I was still active duty in the Marine Corps. The last few months were tough, I'd equate it to hospice for a dog. I dreaded making the decision, and I came close at least 6 times but every time I said give it one more day he would bounce back, go for a walk, do his business, eat, drink, ask for treats. This morning I woke up and I felt something was different. He wasn't moving well, he didn't finish his food, and then his head was stuck turning to the left at almost a 90 degree angle and he fell on the floor like that. I picked him up and laid him down on his other side on my lap hoping he just had a bad cramp, but after an hour I tried putting him down in front of his water and he collapsed. I held him for another 30 minutes and then he had an intense seizure for at least a minute, his whole body was tensed and stretched out, and his mouth was wide open gasping for air. He came through the seizure but he had no strength in any of his legs - even at his worst in the months prior when he bounced back he could at least support himself on his front legs, but he had no strength and his breaths were long and slow. I dreaded making this decision, but I couldn't allow him to suffer. I called a few vets in the area and no one could take us. One of the last vets I called recommended I reach out to VEG. I called them, they said they could help. I walked in and was immediately brought into a private room with my dog. The receptionist, the nurses, and the doctor were so comforting during one of the hardest times of my life. I'm going to bed tonight without my best friend for the first time in 16 years, but the compassion that the staff shared with me knowing it had to happen was above and beyond. I don't know if I'll ever have another dog, but if I do this would be my go to veterinarian for any issues. And I hope no one has to make the decision for your animal, but if you do, I give the VEG staff the highest recommendation I possibly could. You ever had one of those weeks, sorry, years, where you had the opposite effect of the Midas touch--where everything you touched turned to total crap instead of gold? Well, after a really financially depleting week due to some unforeseen circumstances, I came in during the afternoon with my cat who had started showing symptoms of having an ear issue earlier that morning. My cat was examined and I was given the estimate. Upon reading that big beautiful bill, my heart sank right down into my butt. I told the male tech I didn't have that kind of money and asked if VCA had a payment plan option. He informed me that while they didn't have a payment plan option, they did accept CareCredit. I was able to apply and qualify immediately. Thank goodness. When he left the exam room, I could hear him talking on the other side of the door telling his coworkers how I had remarked that I couldn't afford the procedure. I heard a snippet of "she was saying she can't' pay . . . " and then he said to his coworkers, verbatim, "Maybe you shouldn't have a cat then." I don't know many people who have $2k just sitting in their bank account. I'm sure it must be nice for those that do. I'm a hard working, single parent who has a lot of expenses to cover and I, or anyone else, shouldn't be judged or made to feel ashamed of their financial situations--or feel the need to explain it to random vet staff or the internet when resources like CareCredit exist for these exact situations. I care about my cat; if I didn't, I wouldn't have brought him in. This wasn't my first rodeo with an emergency pet visit or having to utilize CareCredit. But it was the first time I ever heard a staff member judge me, loudly, on the other side of an exam room door to his coworkers. I knocked on the door and loudly said, "Uh, hey, I can hear you." Another vet tech came in the room and he surprisingly confirmed what I had heard. He stated that he had heard a staff member make that comment though he claimed that he "didn't know who it was." I was at this point, admittedly, sobbing, and feeling like complete garbage not just as a pet owner, but as a human being trying to exist in this expensive, capitalist hellscape. It was just the crap covered cherry on top of the chocolatey crap sundae I'd been served recently. After I pulled it together, I left the exam room and I made a complaint to the kind woman at the desk as I set up the CareCredit payment with her and left to cool off as my cat was taken in to be treated. The vet called to fill me in on how my cat was doing, and honestly, I was kind of glad to hear that he had been a bit difficult and given them some hell after how terrible I felt overhearing the staff talking about me. My cat did well under sedation and his medical issue was taken care of. For that I am grateful. I will mention that the vet apologized for the staff member's behavior, as did the woman I spoke with checking out, and another staff member over the phone. The emergency exam fee was also waived from my final bill, which I appreciated, but it doesn't change the fact that best practices need to be taught and implemented among staff. I don't anticipate or expect an apology from the judgmental and unprofessional tech who spoke poorly about me behind closed doors, but I hope that man gets an education in professionalism. A bigger hope for him is that he can maybe tap into, and discover his own tiny personal pool of empathy, so that he can begin to consider what he thinks before he speaks. Especially when paying clients, regardless of how they pay, who care about their pets, and are already stressed and worried, are behind the exam room door, listening to every, single, cruel, and judgmental word.
