If you really love your pet, don't bring it here, I made the mistake of taking care of my pet here because it had a lump on its skin and pain. Here, they are only interested in money, even though I explained what happened in detail, since my puppy had a wound, they took a fancy that I needed a biopsy in case it was cancer, but besides that, they never called to give me the result, even though they assured me that they would contact me after I called after 6 hours of waiting, they told me that my dog did not. He has no treatment despite the fact that the pain he feels is notable. Please, if you love your pets and I think we all do, please do not take them to this place. read more

We were visiting my daughter from California for the Christmas holiday when my fur baby Gucci had an emergency. It was Christmas Eve and I was in a panic worrying that he wouldn't get the care and attention he needed. My daughter recommended calling VEG because she had such a great experience previously when her fur baby had an emergency. From the moment I called reception I knew Gucci would be in good hands. They answered my question over the phone & said to come on in. They saw us almost immediately and we were able to observe his care every step of the way. Dr. Sotiropoulos and the entire VEG staff were top notch! Everyone was in such good spirits and made sure we were comfortable and informed the entire time. I'm happy to report Gucci is feeling much better and back to doing zoomies. Thank you so much VEG! read more

No body likes going to the emergency veterinarians office neither human nor animal, but this experience was stellar. From the 1st phone call to see how long an emergency visit wait would take, to the final receipt every portion was done with kindness, both for myself and my new rehoused/rehomed dog. read more

I called this group and spoke with someone immediately. No waiting and put on hold for 10 minutes or more. I spoke to vet to get a second opinion and advice. They took the time to answer my questions and showed compassion without ever seeing my pet. I highly recommend. read more

I can't thank this wonderful group of people enough for the kind care they gave to my dog. They were efficient, thorough, beyond compassionate, and knowledgeable: they made a terrible situation a lot less scary. Highly recommend! read more

They were amazingly helpful with my fur baby and giving me lots of options for his care. In his final days they were very emotionally competent and supportive. They even received his remains and graciously called me to pick them up. Everyone was very kind when I received them. I especially liked how they let me be with his the entire time, unlike other places where you have to hand your fur baby off and only get a phone call. If I was in need of ER vet services, I'd definitely go here again. read more

Such a great experience during a not so fun trip to the emergency vet. Check in was super simple and easy. I called to let them know we would be coming in soon and was able to check in before getting there. We arrived about 20 mins later and walked right back to see the vet. The receptionist was VERY SWEET and offered us coffee or water a couple of times. The techs were also very nice! My dog can get pretty nervous in those settings and they took their time to warm up to her while examining her. They were very informative when letting us know what was going on. The invoice and visit summary were also sent via text link so we were able to check out right in the room. The emergency visit and meds were all reasonably priced. Highly recommend if having a pet emergency and your vet isn't available. read more

I am SO grateful for the Veterinary Emergency Group! As a dog mom who's had pups for almost all of my life, I've been to my fair share of ER vets over the years for everything ranging from an anti-histamine shot for a bee sting reaction to major surgery for a cryptorchid testicle, and my experience at VEG was *hands down* the best experience I've had at an ER vet. The difference here is that they let you stay with your pet for as long as you want and allow you to be there for everything (excluding surgery, I imagine...) and that really makes all the difference in the quality of care, in my opinion. For this visit, I came in because my dog had a terrible non-stop cough that was causing her to regurgitate bile and my primary vet was booked for the day and couldn't get us in, so off to the ER we went. All of the Dr's that we saw here over the 30 hours my dog was admitted were awesome; from Dr. Nelson who was amazing with examining my pup and really advocating for her when she was initially concerned that she had an esophageal obstruction, to Dr. Pannone who took over my pup's care when Dr. Nelson's shift ended, to Dr. Meyer who was on my pup's overnight rotation and finally figured out with a 2nd set of radiographs that there was a bit of pneumonia in her lungs; they all went the extra mile with making sure that my pup received the very best care. All of the other staff were amazingly delightful and sweet as well with check-ins to see if I needed any blankets to sit on while I hung out with my pup (I was there for 8 of the 30 hours) or coffee/snacks to make sure I was comfortable, too. I hope I don't need an ER vet again in the near future, but I know that the next time I have an emergency situation pop up, this will be the only place I take my pup. Thanks so much for everything, VEG!! I'm so incredibly grateful that my baby Clementine is feeling better! read more

I don't know where to begin. My baby was having difficulty voiding, so we brought him to Veg. I have never met such a group of compassionate people that loved my Marve as much as we did. They took such great care of him that we didn't even think twice about leaving him over the weekend. They kept us informed and even sent us picture updates of our baby. Sadly, he passed after surgery but even after his passing I had texted them informing them of his passing and they responded with love. I cannot say anything but good things about this place. They gave us more time with our baby, and I couldn't have asked for more. read more

I took my 12 year old cat into VEG on Halloween in respiratory distress. The vet quickly assessed her and based on the quick ultrasound, she said that she likely had heart failure. I was told that the inital workup would cost over $1000 - for labs and the Xray. I asked if we could start with the Xray, and see what needed to be done from there. It was apparent from her Xray that she was in heart failure. the next invoice estimated that she would need to be in the hospital for 2-3 days, for a cost of near $5000 for the oxygen therapy and diuretics needed. After some back and forth, they said maybe she only needed 24 hours, and the total for that care would come to just over $2500. This was for the initial ultrasound, her time in the oxygen box, a couple of doses of diuretics, minimal bloodwork (kidney function), and meds to go home (they charged more than three times what our primary vet did for these meds). I am deeply disappointed that never in that conversation was the issue of her prognosis discussed. When I asked about the longer term prognosis, I was told I'd need to see a cardiologist. She was stable enough to leave after 24 hours, and we followed up with our primary vet the next week. The vet was not only flabbergasted at the price tag of our visit, but that there were no alternatives discussed. The life expectancy of a kitty in heart failure with evidence of cardiomyopathy on the Xray, he said, was about six months. Our kitty was OK at discharge, but quickly and steadily declined over the next two weeks. She passed less than three weeks after her stay. They saved my cat's life. But they need to work on communicating disease severity and prognosis into their care, and provide reasonable alternative options (palliative, hospice). This would have helped us leave this situation in less financial distress, and to limit our kitty's suffering. read more

My cat was a Havana Brown and he was born with a condition where he had a hole in his diaphragm. This vet hospital were the ones to catch it and diagnose him. He did pass May 1st, and I brought him to them. They were so patient and helpful. They allowed me to stay for a few hours to grieve and build the strength to leave my cat with them. By far the most genuine group of humans. Thank you guys for everything you did for my baby. He will be missed but you definitely helped my grieving process to be a bit lighter. I spent several years as an emergency vet tech at an amazing full-service facility in Phoenix, so when I moved to Denver last year, finding a good emergency hospital for my fur kids' urgent needs was a huge priority for me -- and my standards are HIGH. I am so glad to have found VEG! Both of my dogs have now had encounters that ended them in the ER, and both times, I was absolutely blown away by the speed of service, the professionalism, the honest-to-goodness kindness and the great knowledge of everyone who works at VEG, from the front desk staff to the treatment techs to the doctors. The doctors are great about reviewing the treatment plan, explaining what each line item is, and doing only what is necessary. Yes -- emergency veterinary medicine is expensive, but it's only because they use human-grade equipment that (human) health insurance usually covers. If you don't have pet insurance, of course you should expect to have to pay for top-notch care, just like you'd have to do for your own healthcare without insurance. Considering this, at VEG I've found the estimates to be entirely reasonable for the level of quality care they provide. COVID has been super stressful on the veterinary industry. A word of advice: be KIND to these beautiful humans who have given their lives in service of your pets. They aren't making enough money to justify having to to deal with nasty client attitudes (even though the folks at this place rise to the occasion BEAUTIFULLY when they have to). Treat them with kindness and respect, and never forget they are doing what they do because they love animals. At VEG, that shows in every person I've interacted with. I could not recommend this ER more highly! read more

My dog died here tonight. She was 11 years old and started having seizures, likely due to brain cancer. After talking through my options with the amazing vet, I decided to say goodbye. Nala's two biggest loves in life were people and food. They gave her so many yummy snacks and a lifetime's worth of snuggles. They cried with me as I said goodbye. I am so grateful. Putting down a beloved pet is always so challenging, and VEG supported my sweet girl and me throughout the entire process. I am incredibly grateful. Considering that an emergency vet is the last place I'd want to be at 1am on a Thursday night, I was extremely satisfied with my visit to this clinic. Dr. Beth was amazing and attentive despite how crazy busy it was when we visited, and also considering how minor my dogs issue was compared to those around us. One thing I would mention is if you're squeamish, the treatment area is an open room so you will see all of the animals receiving treatment in open air. Otherwise, it was a 3 hour turnaround (much quicker than i expected) and days following, the quickest my dog has ever bounced back from one of her GI episodes. Thanks again VEG! read more

My story doesn't have a happy ending but while my sweet girl and I were there they did everything they possibly could to keep her alive and as comfortable as possible. They took care of me as attentively as they did my dog, always asking if I was okay and what they could do to make anything better. They worked around the clock as a team to try to help my girl. It ultimately got to the point where there was nothing else they could do and when she was gone I saw at least 3 of them with tears in their eyes. They witness the most suffering in both animals and the humans who love them on a daily basis, and these people have a level of understanding and compassion I didn't expect. I will never forget how well both of us were cared for during the worst moments of our lives. read more

We had an extremely stressful night with our fur baby getting attacked by another dog and getting part of her lip torn up- after being turned down by two other emergency vets we landed here and I'm so happy we did. From start to finish- the staff at VEG went above and beyond for us. Our dog was obviously stressed and not wanting to be around other dogs, so they immediately helped us by offering us their empty patio to wait- they saw us quick and let us in the back with them to be there for our fur baby as she went under to get stitched up. They took the time to answer all our questions, help us out and made us smile and laugh during a very difficult night. Dr.Jones was easily one of the most amazing vets we've been to and took amazing care of us and our dog. I cannot say enough good things and thank every single person working on the evening of April 25, 2022 who saw Honey and helped us. If you find yourself needing emergency services for your pet, this is seriously the place to bring them. I cannot thank them enough and amazing job. read more

I have brought both our dog and one of our kitties to VEG at this point and can honestly say that they are a genuinely great vet for emergency situations. The open concept can be a little overwhelming, but I also greatly appreciated being able to stay with my pets to help calm them down. The care and attention I saw the staff give each pet AND their people during a non-stop stream of new patients today was heartwarming. My past visits with our dog were fairly pricey (but it IS an emergency vet-- they always are), but I was absolutely floored when they didn't charge me for replacing my cat's splint after she chewed off the one my primary vet put on her the day before. Truly, thank you, VEG, for all your help and compassion! read more

The VEG team at the Colfax location in Denver is absolutely AMAZING! The staff was so kind, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. I could tell they all truly cared for our cat, Scrambles. In the end we needed to make the hard decision to euthanize our senior cat, but the staff was sensitive and caring through the process. The VEG team truly cares and it shows! read more

I'm near tears writing this, I am just so very grateful to this hospital. My dog Gilly was not acting like herself and I started to panic because she had gotten into some old turkey earlier in the day and started basically WebMD potential issues. I brought her in close to midnight and they were obviously pretty busy with not as fortunate families. This was the last thing I could afford, but they set me up with a care credit while they checked over my dog. It wasn't the turkey, her bladder was full due to two giant bladder stones. I was an absolute mess, between no sleep, no money and no options. I was so stressed about what the cost would be to remove them they did everything to empty her bladder as much as possible and printed a list of low cost Vets that would be open because it was a Saturday. They made sure that I knew it was imperative to take her in. They also continued communication when I got to Guardian Angel Veterinary Care so that the vet didn't rerun any tests that would cause more cost to me. This team was absolutely amazing and still provided a warm smile and kind care as though every thing would be ok. There is a reason why Vets are Vets. But they had such a hopeful and professionally up beat attitude while also being empathetic. All I am saying is nothing would be able to get done if everyone was crying..! Long story short thank you, thank you, thank you... for everyone who was there and took just absolutely amazing care of my little one. Gilly is doing great and is her normal cheery and eccentric self again. read more

Highly recommend. Visiting from out of town and had to find an emergency vet because my pup was vomiting blood at midnight. Never want this to happen but especially when you're out of town. I've never felt as confident in my dogs care as I was with him staying here. Everyone cares. They take the time to truly explain everything to you and allows you understand exactly what is going to occur. Extremely fast compared to any emergency vet I've ever been too. My 17 1/2 year old cat is having some health issues and it's so hard to get into a vet right away unless it's an emergency vet. This place is SO busy! They treated us like we were the only one there. We have visited twice in the last two weeks and both times the staff and Vets took their time with us and made us as comfortable as possible. They gave us options and I never felt like they were about the money. They were upfront and they seemed to genuinely care about my Bella as well as how I was doing. I highly recommend this Emergency vet. No one wants to have to have to visit an Emergency vet, but I really felt like we were in good, caring hands, both visits. Animal Emergency Vet really exceeded our expectations. First there were four pets and their owners ahead of us..at five o'clock on a Saturday..! It was pouring cats and dogs and I was afraid to try this vet, but our 5 year old dog had a serious case of diarrhea that could not be cured with a cup of Libby's pure pumpkin. Our very well trained dog felt so bad he used our carpet as a potty! I know. Anyways, this place is a very unique emergency vet, open 24/7, they don't take appointments, but they work fairly fast. Our pup was seen in 30 minutes. We were taken into a huge patient room with 4 counters and about 20 small cages along one wall for pets that need to stay over night, this huge room, overlooking a big window of a vet operating on another pet! We were in this open room with like 10 other pets all getting treated at the same time; Controlled chaos! Thankfully our pup is very comfortable among other animals and humans. The staff was amazing, from the front desk, to the manager, the vet tech, the veterinarian, all were nice professional and speedy. We had to go back into the waiting area and wait another hour for a ghiardia test and meds and a final visit with the vet. They do offer a lot of care, all kinds of treatment options, although 75 of their emergencies are diarrhea related, I was told. It took almost two hours by the time we paid, but my husband and I left super impressed. It wasn't outrageously expensive either and you can choose what you want to have them do based on an estimate that comes out minutes after your initial consult. It is so nice to have the peace of mind, knowing a great emergency vet is closeby and super capable! A nice Emergency Vet! read more

I came home from work to find my dog having her tongue stuck inside a rubber ball. I had no idea how long she had been like this. I called VCA emergency vet and they seemed very unconcerned. I drove there anyway because I knew this could end very badly if not removed quickly. After checking in via text they refused to come out and speak to me or see my dog. After 15 minutes, I called Veterinary Emergency Group and they were exceptionally concerned. As soon as I arrived at VEG my dog and I were immediately going through the motions to get her sedated and the ball cut off. No wait at all. They understood the severity of the issue. Luckily, the ball had not been on long enough to cause the tongue to loose too much circulation. I can't say enough great things about the professionalism, concern, and care we were provided.
