Jeter in the private consultation room at VEG.
Maria B.

Professional, empathetic, diligent and quick from check in to check out. I took my furry son on New Year's day as he was experiencing rapid breathing. I was imagining the worst and so glad it was asthma related and his heart is healthy. He was examined, received a diagnosis, treatment and medication to take home. I was kept informed during the entire process and Jeter was provided a calm private, stress free environment. Afterwards my primary vet clinic received all the medical information so they'll have it for our follow up care visit. I appreciated the time the doctor took to explain the results of his exams, the radiology report and the recommended treatment. VEG is an open concept hospital - meaning the treatment tables are in an open floor and patients are in the open. We were offered a private room where Jeter would be more comfortable and we are so thankful for it as it reduced our stress level. I am thankful to have VEG as a resource during an emergency. Thank you to the entire staff!!

I miss her so much.

Good: people seemed to really care and got my pup in fast. Bad: the cost was so much more than CSU-vet hospital which maxed out my credit limits and her insurance. I didn't get to stay with her and was stuck in the waiting room. She was discharged with over $500 worth of meds that she had one dose of before she died after I rushed her up to CSU a day after discharge.

Chappy as a puppy

My brother took our family dog Chappy to VEG after he had suffered what appeared to be seizures. My brother was helped immediately when he got there at 6pm and they gave our dog anti seizure medications to no avail he wasn't getting better and so we had to make the difficult decision to put Chappy down. This was probably one of the most traumatic experiences I've faced in my life so far, but I think it's important to write this review because the staff were very compassionate and caring for Chappy and they did try their best. Chappy was a senior dog, 13 years old and ofcourse with elderly dogs there's a decline, but it doesn't hurt any less to lose him. The staff were kind and gentle, didn't kick us out and allowed us to spend as much time as we needed with Chappy before and after he was put down. They were reasonable with the pricing for cremation and also worked with us since our budget was tight and this was so unexpected. I'm going to miss Chappy dealer but appreciate VEG for their compassion and allowing him to pass peacefully.

Thank you for saving my cat's life when he had a urinary obstruction in the middle of the night. He made a full recovery and is back to being a very happy boy. He genuinely would not be here if it weren't for the veterinary emergency group services.

Waking up after a smooth operation!

Great experience, wonderful and kind staff and extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Would come here again if I ever need to visit the vet at 3am! Thank you so much for to the team working this morning.

All clear. Took Juni to Veterinary Emergency Group with an elevated temp. This is the baby that I worry about the most! She is so sensitive and emotional.. Again - NO WAIT!!! AND - it was my first time being allowed to be with my cat while they get blood drawn and their bladder poked for a urinalysis. We all survived. I played Lo-fi music on my iphone in the private room they put us in the whole time to help ease her anxiety. Poor juni baby. They did a series of tests and there was one poke she hated and I guess they said it could sting a little at the end and she hissed at them. Poor baby! She is feeling better now and back to her playful self! I had never been to an open space ER like this since I got my cats during the pandemic and was never allowed to accompany them. It can be really disturbing to hear other pets in pain so I recommend to try to request a private room if you have a sensitive pet and bring some calming music! They are also connected to VCA so Juni's main vet called us to follow up - they had received her test results and summary! The staff is friendly and understanding. I really appreciated that!

Such care and compassion for my cat who has been sick for several days. They were honest about what were higher priority tests to get done based on my schedule. They also helped me find a finance option that didn't completely destroy me

The open concept! (I had permission to take this photo)

I don't have a lot of money but my sons dog I think got injured by a larger dog . No puncture wounds . But he seems to be having trouble breathing. Do you have payment plans to work with?

According to their website, "VEG offers payment plans through Scratch Pay and Care Credit. We will always provide estimates prior to medical care so that you are fully informed and able to make financial arrangements if necessary." -- I can't…

I was ready to euthanize my 18 y/o cat, but they thought maybe he could bounce back from a debilitating stroke he had and convinced me to give him some time. And they were right, in a few weeks he is almost back to his old self. So thankful for you ladies!

Extremely Disappointing Experience…read more We arrived at VEG with our dog after he was bitten by another dog and had a significant wound on his leg. We stood at the entrance ringing the bell for five minutes before anyone even let us inside. Once inside, we waited approximately 40 minutes, watching other patients being attended to while no one checked on our dog. Eventually, someone examined him and then simply texted us an estimate for approximately $2,300. No one came over to explain the charges or discuss the recommended treatment with us. When I reviewed the estimate, I saw $400 listed as miscellaneous charges and another $350 for stitches--even though we were subsequently told that our dog didn't actually need stitches. At that point, we decided to leave. We immediately drove to VRCC Medical Hospital, where the difference was remarkable. They took care of our dog immediately. The doctor personally came out, examined the wound, and reached a very different conclusion from the medical technician at VEG regarding the treatment he needed. And here's the real kicker: even with stitches and all of the treatment our dog actually received, our bill at VRCC was roughly one-third of VEG's $2,300 estimate. Based on our experience, VEG gave us the impression that the focus was more on generating revenue than providing compassionate, appropriate care for our pet. Do yourself and your pet a favor: skip VEG and drive down the road to a real veterinary hospital. You'll likely get better care, a doctor's evaluation, and save yourself a considerable amount of money.

I brought my nine-year-old Pomeranian to Animal Urgent Care after a seizure because his regular…read moreveterinarian had not yet opened. I approved bloodwork to look for metabolic causes of the seizure. The bloodwork was useful and ultimately showed no obvious peripheral cause. What I found frustrating was discovering that an IV catheter had also been placed at a charge of $120. I do not recall consenting to catheter placement; I recall specifically consenting to the bloodwork. No fluids or medications were administered through the catheter during his visit. The medical record states that catheter placement was approved, which does not match my recollection of the conversation. After several hours, the treatment provided consisted of examination/observation, bloodwork and placement of the unused catheter. Hospitalization for continued neurologic observation was recommended, which I declined in favor of taking him home and following up with his regular veterinarian, who knows his neurologic history and current medications. I understand why an emergency clinic might want IV access available in case another seizure occurs. My concern is not that the clinicians considered it medically reasonable; my concern is that a $120 procedure was performed that I do not believe I authorized, and I did not understand until later that the catheter had not been used to administer any treatment. In an emergency, owners are frightened and making decisions quickly. Clear communication about what is being proposed, what it costs, whether it is diagnostic, therapeutic or precautionary, and obtaining explicit consent before proceeding are extremely important. My primary concern is the IV catheter and the lack of consent. The catheter had already been placed before the veterinarian came to speak with me. I was never asked whether I authorized placement of an IV catheter, and I was never told that it would cost $120. What I was specifically asked to authorize was the emergency/triage evaluation and the bloodwork, which I approved. The medical record subsequently states "IVC placement approved." That is not an accurate account of what occurred. I did not approve catheter placement. By the time the veterinarian discussed the diagnostic plan with me, the catheter was already in my dog. It was never used to administer medication or IV fluids. When I decided to take him home, I also had to specifically request that it be removed. Ultimately, I paid $610 and left without any treatment having been administered to my Pomeranian for the seizure--no seizure medication, no fluids, and no other therapeutic intervention. I understand that examination, bloodwork and observation have value, but for our particular situation this emergency visit was not worth the cost or the additional stress to my dog and me. In the future, I will make a seizure-management plan with his regular veterinarian so I know exactly when emergency care is warranted. His regular veterinary clinic opened approximately 40 minutes after I arrived here; in retrospect, I wish I had kept him safely confined and comfortable and waited for his own veterinarian. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this clinic.

He was obviously in a lot of pain so we took him to VEG and he stayed overnight. He had several very severe episodes over the last decade and sometimes I would even have to carry him up and down the stairs for weeks. He stayed so strong and so silly until the very end and, I swear, came back from the dead five different times. Unfortunately I had to put him down the next day but all of the nurses at VEG were very sympathetic and he died peacefully in my arms as I whispered in his ear how much I love him. They made me an ink stamp of his paw and even put his two different types of hair in glass vials. They were so thoughtful and even hand wrote me a sweet letter from everyone who got to know him. They even went as far as adding a little heart shaped piece of paper with seeds in it so I can plant them in his memory. I should be receiving his ashes this week and I am just so grateful for everyone who helped me through this difficult transition. He was my Denver dog who I got in college and we had so many amazing adventures. It felt like the ideal closing to a chapter. I found him on my father's birthday and everything went down on Father's Day. I will miss him until the end of time, thank you so much for your gracious help.

She graduated some PT training with them, gave me much anxiety when her legs would hurt her, and they were always the very best at sending her home with me happy and healthy. Sadly, the last time I brought her here, it was too late to save her. Nessie was a Bernese Mountain Dog and she had hemangiosarcoma which was undiagnosed. Her symptoms the morning of her passing was primarliy lethargy, not wanting food, and pale gums. Within moments of me realizing she wasn't doing well, I got her into the car and sped to the hospital. As we were driving her symptoms got worse and I called ahead to ask for immediate help. The team was out front when we arrived and we got her onto a gurnee. I wiped out one of her eye boogers and told her I'd be right there to take care of her. Nessie sadly didn't make it to surgery. Her heart gave out before we could help her. But I know she got the best way to leave this earth as she was barely in pain and she wouldn't have liked the cancer treatment we were planning for her. My cat was distressed after we brought a new kitten into the home (the kitten has been re-homed) She stopped eating, pottied on our bedroom pillows and was throwing up.Left Hand started her on IV fluids, found a sore on her tongue and then did blood work, no issues there. We went to Veg and they monitored her all night. They gave her meds for her barely existent fever (even they noted this in her notes). I believe they gave her an appetite stimulant as well. Next day she had an ultrasound showing nothing we didn't know about already know about, or that would have caused these issues. They treated her tongue and sent her home the next day. She didn't really improve a lot. They sent her home with some mouth wash for her tongue ulcer with instructions. The vile was empty when I went to give her her first treatment, and they are in Boulder while I am in Lyons so I couldn't pop over and get more, besides they told me if she was eating she didn't need it. She had eaten so I didn't worry. The next day she was vomiting again, acting strange and hiding. When I called about this they wanted me to bring her back. I asked about the meds they gave her and they said to keep giving them to her. Well, the med they prescribed for appetite, capromorelin, side effects are, ironically, vomiting and excessive salivation are the mose most commonly reported adverse effects in cats, and the FDA also lists decreased appetite, lethargy, and post-marketing reports of hiding. These were all the symptoms I was describing to the vet that answered the phone. They should know the side effects of the meds they prescibe. $3000.00 later I have a cat that could have healed better at home. The stress of the hospitalization at Veg contributed to two miserable days during and after my cat's visit there. I wouldn't recommend this Group to anyone. I will stand by that. I wish I could get my money back. They saw me coming.
