Extremely Disappointing Experience…read more We arrived at VEG with our dog after he was bitten by another dog and had a significant wound on his leg. We stood at the entrance ringing the bell for five minutes before anyone even let us inside. Once inside, we waited approximately 40 minutes, watching other patients being attended to while no one checked on our dog. Eventually, someone examined him and then simply texted us an estimate for approximately $2,300. No one came over to explain the charges or discuss the recommended treatment with us. When I reviewed the estimate, I saw $400 listed as miscellaneous charges and another $350 for stitches--even though we were subsequently told that our dog didn't actually need stitches. At that point, we decided to leave. We immediately drove to VRCC Medical Hospital, where the difference was remarkable. They took care of our dog immediately. The doctor personally came out, examined the wound, and reached a very different conclusion from the medical technician at VEG regarding the treatment he needed. And here's the real kicker: even with stitches and all of the treatment our dog actually received, our bill at VRCC was roughly one-third of VEG's $2,300 estimate. Based on our experience, VEG gave us the impression that the focus was more on generating revenue than providing compassionate, appropriate care for our pet. Do yourself and your pet a favor: skip VEG and drive down the road to a real veterinary hospital. You'll likely get better care, a doctor's evaluation, and save yourself a considerable amount of money.

When he jumped out of my truck, he broke his back leg. The bone was sticking out of his skin. Distraught and heartbroken for my dog, in incredible pain, I ran to this vet assuming that not only will they help a dog in overwhelming pain but would work with those of us dealing with an acute emergency. Not only did they refuse to even look at my dog, but it was my next door neighbor that shooed me away! I was dumbfound at the cold, callous and greedy attitude that this vet office had! I was gobsmacked to see that unless I paid for his X-ray, which was an obvious break, they told me that they could not help him. Of course, they did the financial shake down before coldly excusing themselves to tend to those with insurance. Not one of which were in more need than my dog. He was in so much pain that he literally wasted away within a week. I blame them! I was so disgusted with such ugly behavior. For good service, you tell a few people. For bad service YOU TELL EVERYONE!!

I really liked how they are open 8am-8pm 365 days per year and offer all types of care, including routine and ER medicine. I made an appointment for my cat, since she had a little bit of loose stool, and everything went really smoothly! Our appointment was with Dr. Amy Casali and scheduled for 11:45. I arrived at 11:40 and was immediately brought into the exam room. Jess, Dr. Casali's vet tech, came in right at 11:45 and started the initial exam, asking questions, going over medical history. Dr. Casali came in shortly after and was wonderful to work with. She has excellent bedside manner and is very knowledgeable and thorough! I am definitely interested in establishing care here for my dog, as well! P.S. They have great little goodies by way of free toys and treats for your animal. We brought home a cat toy, and my cat LOVES it!

Both times I took my Toby Bear in for emergency services I received the utmost care. They are so personable and loving, they allow you to watch what they are doing and let you know exactly what is going on through the process. The first time we went my Toby had been injured on his paw and it was broken; they set it and gave me instructions on how to take care of him and to contact my vet for follow up. The next and last time I took him in the middle of the night they found a mass in his lower spine, and we had to euthanize him so he wouldn't suffer. Toby was an amazing soul; I got him when he was 7 and I loved the years I spent with him and will never forget the love and care I received from them. Thank you VEG Group, I will never forget you!

I brought my nine-year-old Pomeranian to Animal Urgent Care after a seizure because his regular…read moreveterinarian had not yet opened. I approved bloodwork to look for metabolic causes of the seizure. The bloodwork was useful and ultimately showed no obvious peripheral cause. What I found frustrating was discovering that an IV catheter had also been placed at a charge of $120. I do not recall consenting to catheter placement; I recall specifically consenting to the bloodwork. No fluids or medications were administered through the catheter during his visit. The medical record states that catheter placement was approved, which does not match my recollection of the conversation. After several hours, the treatment provided consisted of examination/observation, bloodwork and placement of the unused catheter. Hospitalization for continued neurologic observation was recommended, which I declined in favor of taking him home and following up with his regular veterinarian, who knows his neurologic history and current medications. I understand why an emergency clinic might want IV access available in case another seizure occurs. My concern is not that the clinicians considered it medically reasonable; my concern is that a $120 procedure was performed that I do not believe I authorized, and I did not understand until later that the catheter had not been used to administer any treatment. In an emergency, owners are frightened and making decisions quickly. Clear communication about what is being proposed, what it costs, whether it is diagnostic, therapeutic or precautionary, and obtaining explicit consent before proceeding are extremely important. My primary concern is the IV catheter and the lack of consent. The catheter had already been placed before the veterinarian came to speak with me. I was never asked whether I authorized placement of an IV catheter, and I was never told that it would cost $120. What I was specifically asked to authorize was the emergency/triage evaluation and the bloodwork, which I approved. The medical record subsequently states "IVC placement approved." That is not an accurate account of what occurred. I did not approve catheter placement. By the time the veterinarian discussed the diagnostic plan with me, the catheter was already in my dog. It was never used to administer medication or IV fluids. When I decided to take him home, I also had to specifically request that it be removed. Ultimately, I paid $610 and left without any treatment having been administered to my Pomeranian for the seizure--no seizure medication, no fluids, and no other therapeutic intervention. I understand that examination, bloodwork and observation have value, but for our particular situation this emergency visit was not worth the cost or the additional stress to my dog and me. In the future, I will make a seizure-management plan with his regular veterinarian so I know exactly when emergency care is warranted. His regular veterinary clinic opened approximately 40 minutes after I arrived here; in retrospect, I wish I had kept him safely confined and comfortable and waited for his own veterinarian. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this clinic.

The staff is great, courteous and knowledgeable. Met me at the door and started getting stats. Dr. Watts was very kind and explained everything that was needed, gave me a treatment plan, which I accepted. He was obviously in a lot of pain so we took him to VEG and he stayed overnight. He had several very severe episodes over the last decade and sometimes I would even have to carry him up and down the stairs for weeks. He stayed so strong and so silly until the very end and, I swear, came back from the dead five different times. Unfortunately I had to put him down the next day but all of the nurses at VEG were very sympathetic and he died peacefully in my arms as I whispered in his ear how much I love him. They made me an ink stamp of his paw and even put his two different types of hair in glass vials. They were so thoughtful and even hand wrote me a sweet letter from everyone who got to know him. They even went as far as adding a little heart shaped piece of paper with seeds in it so I can plant them in his memory. I should be receiving his ashes this week and I am just so grateful for everyone who helped me through this difficult transition. He was my Denver dog who I got in college and we had so many amazing adventures. It felt like the ideal closing to a chapter. I found him on my father's birthday and everything went down on Father's Day. I will miss him until the end of time, thank you so much for your gracious help.

She graduated some PT training with them, gave me much anxiety when her legs would hurt her, and they were always the very best at sending her home with me happy and healthy. Sadly, the last time I brought her here, it was too late to save her. Nessie was a Bernese Mountain Dog and she had hemangiosarcoma which was undiagnosed. Her symptoms the morning of her passing was primarliy lethargy, not wanting food, and pale gums. Within moments of me realizing she wasn't doing well, I got her into the car and sped to the hospital. As we were driving her symptoms got worse and I called ahead to ask for immediate help. The team was out front when we arrived and we got her onto a gurnee. I wiped out one of her eye boogers and told her I'd be right there to take care of her. Nessie sadly didn't make it to surgery. Her heart gave out before we could help her. But I know she got the best way to leave this earth as she was barely in pain and she wouldn't have liked the cancer treatment we were planning for her. The team did a really good job helping me through the hardest thing I've ever been through. My one regret is I wish I had woken earlier that day and tried to get her help faster. But sometimes things don't go the way we want. I hope if you're in need of urgent care, you can get your pup here swiftly and allow the team to do their very best. It's a hard job these Vets and the team have, taking care of our sweet angels. I've put off on writing this review as even though it's been three months, still feels very fresh to not have my sweetheart by my side. Thank you team for all your help. She was the very best girl.

My cat was distressed after we brought a new kitten into the home (the kitten has been re-homed) She stopped eating, pottied on our bedroom pillows and was throwing up.Left Hand started her on IV fluids, found a sore on her tongue and then did blood work, no issues there. We went to Veg and they monitored her all night. They gave her meds for her barely existent fever (even they noted this in her notes). I believe they gave her an appetite stimulant as well. Next day she had an ultrasound showing nothing we didn't know about already know about, or that would have caused these issues. They treated her tongue and sent her home the next day. She didn't really improve a lot. They sent her home with some mouth wash for her tongue ulcer with instructions. The vile was empty when I went to give her her first treatment, and they are in Boulder while I am in Lyons so I couldn't pop over and get more, besides they told me if she was eating she didn't need it. She had eaten so I didn't worry. The next day she was vomiting again, acting strange and hiding. When I called about this they wanted me to bring her back. I asked about the meds they gave her and they said to keep giving them to her. Well, the med they prescribed for appetite, capromorelin, side effects are, ironically, vomiting and excessive salivation are the mose most commonly reported adverse effects in cats, and the FDA also lists decreased appetite, lethargy, and post-marketing reports of hiding. These were all the symptoms I was describing to the vet that answered the phone. They should know the side effects of the meds they prescibe. $3000.00 later I have a cat that could have healed better at home. The stress of the hospitalization at Veg contributed to two miserable days during and after my cat's visit there. I wouldn't recommend this Group to anyone. I will stand by that. I wish I could get my money back. They saw me coming.
