Veterans Park in Cypress turned out to be one of those places that surprised me in the best way, because the moment I walked in with someone, the whole atmosphere felt open, calm, and playful in a way that teenagers would really enjoy spending time in. There were so many teenagers around the park when I visited, and it made the whole space feel even more lively because you could see them hanging out on the grass, walking around the paths, and using the open areas to take pictures or just relax together. I didn't expect a park to have that kind of youthful energy, but the way the trees, the open fields, and the little activity spots all come together makes it feel like a place where teenagers can be themselves without feeling rushed or watched. I appreciated how easy it was to walk around and enjoy everything without any pressure, and it reminded me of how much I enjoy places that let me feel playful and relaxed at the same time. I only visited Veterans Park a lot of times in my life before making this review, but it left a strong impression on me because of how peaceful and fun it felt, especially with all the teenagers enjoying their time there. It's one of the most enjoyable and welcoming parks I've been to in a long time, and I would highly recommend that teenagers go there because it gives them a safe and open place to hang out, take pictures, and feel creative in their own way. read more

As grandparents we have become connoisseurs of parks to take our grandkids. This park is our favorite: easy parking, never too crowded on a week day, well-maintained, clean, safe, with good playground equipment (swings, slides, climber, spinners and spring riders, etc.) that are suitable for toddlers and benches for the elderly. We are partial to this park because we have taken our kids here when they were young. Early morning is the best time to come spend an hour or so for the young ones to enjoy fresh air, soothing sun (not hot yet), and opportunities to hone social skills. read more

Everyone is familiar with the adage, "It's like a walk in the park" to describe something smooth, easy and invigorating. Well, it better be a damn good park, my friends, because Los Angeles certainly has some that no one should be walking in! Big, small, lush, empty... we have quite a variety that calls southern California home. Add Veterans Park to this never-ending list. How does it compare? Veterans Park is a community-style park located smack in the middle of a Cypress neighborhood (bordering Los Alamitos) with easy-access residential streets and a medium-sized lot available (plus street parking). And I truly mean, "smack in the middle"; as the acreage sits rectangular to homes on all four sides. Despite this, the environment is calm, quiet and family-friendly. This park is the home to green grass and lots of it. Veterans Park is a vast green space that seems to go on forever. Although there are sporadic trees; these are sort of puny-little guys and not the majestic sort that provides ample shade. I truly have no idea what some of the reviews mean when they claim Veterans Park to be shady- I wouldn't really describe it as such. Shade it may not have; but Veterans Park DOES have plenty of amenities: a small skate park (very small and not that intricate but still great for beginner children), a sand volleyball court, basketball courts, a playground for the kiddos (or adults - I'm not judging!), benches, covered pavilions and bathrooms. Everything is in decent condition with the playground having recently transitioned from mulch to rubber flooring under the feeties and even the bathrooms being clean-enough that I didn't cry and have a complete panic attack having to use it. Note, that the ladies room had soap and a mirror but no paper towels and the dryer didn't work. My time at Veterans Park was spent working a party in a pavilion with my job/goats and I found the other park patrons outside of my clients to be kind and respectful rather than just figuratively attacking me and the goats. Again, Veterans Park has a lovely family and warm neighborhood feel. My biggest complaint is that it is not that 'pretty' in terms of little to no flowers or landscaping and ALL of the trashcans I walked past were overflowing to the point of trash being on the ground which is awful both for sanitary reasons and for animals. Eww! Veterans Park may not be perfect but it IS great for a "walk in the park", a playground visit or just some relaxation offering a soothing, solid community gathering spot for those living in the area. read more

Restrooms are gross. Flies and mosquitos flying out the toilets and sinks. The smell is horrendous when you walk in the restroom. They don't look to be cleaned often at all. read more

Biggest Park in Cypress with all the bells and whistles. Most notably, a large outdoor covered eating area with a sink with enough table that can seat at least 60 people. Bathroom is connected and the playground is next door. The playground, if you can see, has some ADA / special needs attributes when you see the swing here. Note, there are no rubber mats though. There is not enough seating benches though but I think it was done this way for a reason so you see a flow of green throughout. There is a large green area, a skateboard park, a basketball area, a dedicated parking lot. (Although you can just park along side the street also) Kid friendly, though after 2:30 you will see high school kids hang out here. Note if you are Cypress resident, you can rent part the gazebo part of the park out for $25 a day. This by far is my favorite park within the city. Lots of energy can be felt here and it's a large park so keep an eye out on your kids because....well, it's a large park. read more

This is a nice little community park. It has clean bathrooms and plenty of parking. There are a lot of trees to sit under when it is very sunny. The playground is very kid friendly. There is a little skate board area. The park has a basketball and volleyball court. There is plenty of open space for a football, soccer, or softball game. Every time I have been here, it has not been very busy. I am surprised considering all the houses in the area. read more

In my opinion, this is probably one of, if not the best public neighborhood park in the city of Cypress. The park is within a nice, quiet, and safe neighborhood. It is also heavily shaded around the playground which is a plus for supervising parents. The bathrooms are decent, not spectacular (but what bathrooms are in public parks?). In terms of amenities, there is a park specific private lot, but you can also park along the street for easier access. There is a small skatepark, benches for picnics scattered throughout and under a pergola, two half court basketball courts, BBQ grills, and a volleyball court. Rolling fields are also easy to find for those into field sports. However, there are no softball fields at this park. What sets apart this park is the nice play structure. Very modern, updated, and presents nice challenges for kids looking for something different. I love the swaying boat, which is even fun for adults. read more

This park has a great location because of it's area and it's very spacious as well. There's plenty of benches to have a picnic gathering at, basketball courts, volleyball court, mini skateboard park, and the parking is usually easy to find. If anything there's extra parking toward the residential area. The park is kept well maintain. Plenty of kids of many ages come around and there's a party here also every now and then. This is our family's favorite park in Cypress. There are multiple play areas and a variety of playground equipment, including what seems to be a see-saw for those with mobility issues. There are also lots of benches and trees surrounding the playground for relaxing under while the kids are playing. We've always found parking easily on the back road or in the lot. read more

I had taken my dog to obedience class here. Lots of grass to play in. Plenty of parking in the lot and on the street. After school this park can get pretty busy. There are two adult swings and two swings that look like chairs. This isn't the best park for kids that haven't started walking unless you would just like to watch the other kids play. And the ground cover is wood chips. I like coming here because it's one of the livelier parks. read more
