A compact park connected to local community center. Tennis courts, playground, picnic tables. 1 softball field. A walking trail also along the side passing through. Alot of people do not walk dogs on leashes here. Which is frustrating because I don't want to find out if your dog bites. The parking sucks here and they never have the additional restrooms open. Central Park has quickly became one of our favorite spots to come and walk. The park itself is plenty large to get some miles in walking by yourself or with your pets (dog bags are available in dispensers throughout the park) and everyone has always been polite. The park also features three lighted basketball courts, a lighted baseball field, a lighted soccer field and two lighted tennis courts for anyone into recreational sports as well as picnic and barbecue areas. The park has a couple of outdoor rental facilities such as the plaza and a bicentennial gazebo as well as numerous indoor rental facilities as well. There are two small playgrounds for the kiddies and even a tetherball (a rarity to find these days) so there is something for the whole family to enjoy. Parking is typically not too bad but can get quite full on the weekends but street parking in adjacent neighborhoods is also available if needed. The park is around a mile in half in total length if you factor in the other side across the street (although this area does not feature any of the amenities of the side near the parking lot. If you are looking for a great place to have a relaxing walk and take in some fresh air then this park is an excellent option. *For the non religious people please be on the lookout for the preachy lady who insist on stopping people to ask if you are Christian. We are not churchgoers and have nothing against anyone from any religion but we would like to be left alone to have our own beliefs and not get persuaded to to buy into yours. You know, the park itself really isn't much. I mean, you have basketball courts, a playground, lots of grass, some bbq areas and a outdoor theatre setting. However, if you factor in some of the activities with the parks and recs and the library across the street, it is great for people like me who lives close by. I can't find it on their website, but this summer thus far, we've had puppet shows, magic shows, science shows....all free for kids. What a great way to learn something educational and entertaining. We take our students to Central Park obviously because it is close, but we love the location. Aside from being a great place for sports (tennis, basketball, baseball), and having a cool cement path that winds past huge electrical towers through an open field that gives you plenty of space to run from an angry student The park has a huge gazebo and a wide amphitheater area (with cement steps for a seating area) which is perfect for our annual Spring Fair, graduation ceremony, and Christmas concert, with a huge Christmas tree, or "Holiday Shrub" if you hate God. read more

Solid park with a clean atmosphere and plenty of room for picnics, parties and playing with the kids. Central Park has a great club house which I've visited twice, the renting fee vary by the year and rented hourly. The park is spacious with tons of room to use for a day party or family gathering. The playground is close by and stays very well lit at night. It's got a series of basketball courts and tennis courts both free to use. They have several receptacles for trash and the bathrooms are kept relatively clean being open to public use. It's a great space in a very central location. I've been here a few times, some just to hang out and others to meet with friends and family. Being across from the police station, it is a very safe and comforting environment. Park employees are disrespectful. After checking to make sure the park was open and making sure simply hanging out with my family for my grandma's 77th birthday was ok, their employees turned the sprinklers on soaking my entire family, all of our belongings(including) electronics, and other families not far from us. It was 2pm on a Saturday and i know there is no way a park waters their grass at 2pm in the afternoon on a Saturday. This is a cute small park hidden in the La Palma neighborhood. It has the basic essentials that a park provides such as: basketball courts, baseball field, and gazebos for party rentals. Most of these areas gets filled quickly all throughout the day and especially on weekends so arrive early and reserve your spot. The gazebos are scattered - mostly in each entrance of the park. They are covered and each have about 4 to 5 long benches included inside the gazebo. They do have little lighting inside but those are not always working. There is also a playground for kids to play with, but it is smaller compared to bigger parks so it does get pack at all times. They also have a small stage area with seating available (bring a small pillow to sit on - you are literally sitting on cement). They have free summer concerts that includes cook outs and musical shows from local artists. These are usually on Saturday nights from June all the way to August. I highly suggest to bring lawn/beach chairs and blankets as seats as seatings are first come first serve. You can check on the city's website to see who the performers for each weekend will be. During Christmas time they do visits with Santa, arts & crafts, and tree lighting all are free to visit. It is dog friendly and they have poo bags scattered throughout the grass area. If you love to run this is the perfect place to go especially in the morning between 6-8AM as there are only a couple joggers and plenty of open spaces to run around. There is a nice long trial from one end of the park to the other end to jog or walk, this is the only trail that actually gives you a long length to run as they do not have a track and field area. The grass area and the grounds are clean and not many trash scattered around. The parking lots are small and you can always park on the neighborhoods across the street. As for professional picture taking you can cover the whole grounds quickly being a small park, but there are not many beautiful sceneries in the background if you are looking for cool structures. read more

This is probably one of my top favorite parks to do my morning strolls. Something about the ambient throughout the day feels like you're at home in the City of La Palma. It doesn't get too traffic-y here which is brownie points. On top of that, the staff I've interacted are super cordial and helpful with some questions I had when I first moved into the city. They've got different events going and you best be on the lookout for them, especially around Halloween and Christmas season. read more

Lots of amenities, grass area, 2 covered picnic areas, 3 full court basketball courts, two Tennis Courts, one softball field, a one mile+ walking path which extends from valley view to carmenita if you want a longer trek, good size parking lot , rec center main office is here, senior exercise activities daily. One thing to note is that the walking path is underneath high voltage power lines. I'm sure the power company says it's safe as there are homes on both sides for the full length of the path. read more

We've been walking our puppies here for years. They love it. Great long path and the park is pet friendly with doggy bags. :) Overall people walking are friendly, same with people walking their pets. It's a neighborhood affair and it's nice to see such a family oriented atmosphere. Since everyone lives around this park the pet owners take goof care of their pets (spade/neutered, clean, friendly, etc.) which is good to know if you decide to come for a stroll to Central Park. read more

"Jake" is right. This is not NYC Central Park. You won't get assaulted or robbed here. You won't smell the stench of urine on the walking paths either. Where's the graffiti like they have in NYC? Nope, they're just not the same. You will get a clean, well-maintained and safe park experience when you visit here. La Palma puts its best foot forward here. It's not huge but it is one of the best small parks in OC. You'll enjoy it if your into that sort of thing. If not, there is always the other Central Park in Manhattan where you can go to get your crime, graffiti and foul odor fix. I revised this review because the upkeep of the park has declined. The grounds are not well-maintained. Dead grass. Trees overgrown. Trash cans overflowing. Waste bag dispensers always empty. Trash lying around. read more

Nice park. Basketball courts, tennis courts and lots of tables. There is a nice gazebo for events which is pretty neat. Nice playground for the kids. There is a parking lot so you don't have to look for parking. We went around 6:30ish in the evening on a Sunday and there were still a lot of kids playing, families with their kids and a lot of people just going for a nice walk. A lot of space to run around or do sports. If you keep going West or East there are other parks. The only problem is that you will need to cross the streets. Worth visiting. read more

How can you not love this adorable, well maintained spot?!? La Palma does a great job of keeping this space nice. It is quaint with a lot of amenities! It has tennis courts, basketball courts, baseball diamond, two playgrounds (one for older kids and one for the toddlers! LOVE THAT!), tons of grass space to run around on, plenty of parking space, walking paths, picnic areas with cover and without, and ample parking for the space. It is located near residential homes and a main street. So even though you get some traffic noise from the street, it's still pretty quiet with the houses on the other side. My family and I love this spot for a quick picnic or a long Mother's day out in the fresh air! :) read more

Awesome park! Clean, fun playgrounds for the kids but more importantly very safe! The floors are made of rubber mulch type material so its safe for kids when they fall on the ground. Grass is always neatly cut and safe for running (no holes, mud, etc.) Process is easy for reserving a spot for a party. Refundable deposits are received within about a week after party! Ive never had any issues booking parties here. Staff is always friendly and helpful! This is my family's favorite place to visit just for a fun day at the park! read more

I really enjoyed this park it had a pretty big field, basket courts including tennis courts. Although I have it 3 stars because they have real huge rocks that are attached to the playground for kids to play and I don't think this is safe at all. Especially if it is wet you can slip and fall the rocks are really not sanded down so it has some sharp edges the rocks are easy to climb for big kids but not the little ones. Overall this park was pretty decent and quite for the most part. Very enjoyable and relaxing. read more

Here's a cool thing about Central Park! Since it spans a few blocks, you can park across from the library/police station on La Palma, and make your way west. By the time you run about 4 blocks and see a lamp post (right before the road makes a turn), you've run a mile! Woo! Turn around and run back to where you've parked, and it's two miles. Crazy! Compared to other parks it's pretty clean and nice. Can't say anything bad about it. Lots of people walking so you feel relatively safe. Oh yeah, there's also tennis courts, basketball courts, and a softball field. But most people just come to walk their dogs and/or run, and it's pretty nice for what it is. read more

My first impression was, "Central Park brings back so many memories!" -----Skip this section if you've never heard of La Palma.----- Background on the city of La Palma on all the La Palma reviews: The motto is "City of Vision," with the title of being the smallest city in Orange County in terms of area. Location wise, it's in the middle of Buena Park, Cypress, Cerritos, and La Mirada, so living here and going to school here was one of the most convenient. This small city though, has a lot to offer, great, friendly people, and known for all the beautiful palm trees! I love this city. You know you grew up in La Palma if: - You went to Walker Jr. High and then two years later went to Kennedy High School across the street. - You knew everyone and their dads, moms, brothers, sisters, and grew up with the same kids your whole life. - The biggest crime you witnessed was when the cops hit up that jaywalker. - Hung out at CENTRAL PARK after school playing basketball, playing tennis, or loitering with a bunch of other kids who went to Walker and Kennedy. - Knew someone who was in the Kennedy Band. - Took the test to try and get into Oxford or Whitney but then still ended up in La Palma. - Right before school and right after school there were a bunch of kids on La Palma Ave. - Everyone would loiter at Yen's Chinese Restaurant and the cops would hang out there after school in case "anything went down," because apparently there are no crimes and there is no one else to catch in La Palma besides rude teenagers. -----Back to the review.----- This park is usually poppin' for their basketball courts, tennis courts, and the annual carnivals and parades. Some things that happen here every year include the biggest event, La Palma Days Parade and Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast. They hold a lot of city events and recreational things here, and also have FREE concerts at the park where they play great music underneath the starry night. You'll be surprised, but here's another secret, they have a bonfire pit if you walk down the back walkway. A lot of people don't know about this, but it's quite the spot for a local campfire. One more gem, they also have a cute gazebo to use for parties, functions, any purpose. It's a great local park that's well kept, clean, and safe (it's in La Palma)! A close friend of mine also used the buildings and rented them out for a party. For a renting price depending on how much space you need, they'll provide the venue, the chairs and tables, and use of the kitchen. It's a great place to hold a party, set up a dance floor, and order some catered food. They were very lenient on the use of decorations in the room too. The staff here are very friendly and helpful! The lasting impression? "A place forever in my jr. high / high school memories!" (+) My Tip: You can also borrow a basketball, tether-ball, and other equipment they have available if you just go to to the recreation window and provide them a form of ID. read more

This is a nice little park that is host to several community events and sports leagues. The facilities and grounds are well kept and the people you run into are family friendly and more than likely your neighbors. This park is part of a larger green belt area that always makes for a great walk or run not to mention a great place to take your pet out. read more

Small park, but great. Reviewing only what I've done/seen in the one visit we had. Playground is awesome! It has rubber flooring/ground instead of the usual cat litter sandbox. Trees overhang it so on a hot day I don't have to worry about my kids burning their legs and hands on the playsets. There are no swings, but that's fine as its a very compact area.
