    Walking on the track
    Derek W.

While not my favorite park in the Lakewood/Cerritos area, it's a good solid park to go to, especially if you are an athlete, but since I am nowhere close to one, it's hard for me to make a case for driving there, especially with an abundance of other parks much closer to me. Cerritos Park East is located on the south side of 166th between Shoemaker and Carmenita on the east side of Cerritos. Since it's not too far from Buena Park, it could make for a nice getaway from Orange County if you ever want to cross the county border for a change in scenery. At this park, you'll find tennis, basketball, and racquetball courts as well as baseball fields and a track. I've also seen some pickup games of soccer and volleyball, usually on the outskirts of unused baseball fields. There are actually three parking lots for this park. The larger two are on the north side of the park, and there is a much smaller lot on Pires Ave. Each of the three baseball fields opens towards a lot, so whatever lot you're at, it's very possible, though highly unlikely, that a home run ball could strike your car. I usually like taking a walk around the tracks, either warning or the elliptical one adjacent to Whitney High School. And yes, I did intend to use multiple baseball terms in those last two sentences lol. I recall seeing a bench somewhere in the park that says one lap is a half mile, and so two laps would be a mile. However, it's not clear to me exactly what lap they are talking about. I'm guessing it's the loop around all three baseball fields, but I could be off. It's definitely not the elliptical track. There's nothing but grass inside the track, so there's really not much to see while you're walking or running on the track, hence why I find this part of the park kind of boring. If you run, stay on the inside of the flat track, but if you walk, stay on the outside. For whatever reason, the track feels rubbery to me, but is a great way to get your steps in if you find yourself getting bored of walking around the baseball fields. If you need to rest or just want to watch the walkers/runners on the track, there are bleachers by either straightaway. The track isn't that long. Even at a sluggish pace, it shouldn't take more than 5 minutes to complete a lap. While it may feel pretty open to some, the park doesn't feel as open as my new favorite: Rynerson in Lakewood. If I'm in the area, I would stop by and stretch my legs there, and you should too, especially if you live closer than I do. However, it's not a park I'd personally go out of my way for if I want to take a walk. The other closer parks are good enough for me.

Five stars to the City of Cerritos for having wonderful parks and free concerts for everyone. Tonight was a Beatles band called Let it Be. They sang flat and the harmonies weren't very good. The seniors group sold sodas for $1 and cookies and snacks for $1 and $2. We had Trader Joe's chocolate pretzels and cold cans of Diet Coke .

Great little park... really don't want to share it but oh well. Has something for everyone just a smaller version of a regional park. Cushioned track, baseball diamonds, tennis and handball courts, bbq areas and a nice walking path that runs throughout. Good day to relax with friends n family or even better..... me time!

Great place to host an event. The staff is always present to assist with anything. The prices are reasonable. It was a hot day and it was nice and cool in the town hall. The bathrooms are super clean and the kitchen was pretty big for catering. now for the people that like to drink alcohol, alcohol is not allowed on the premise. But it was not necessary if you have a good time with the family.

Located on 166th St. This park is a cozy little park with two baseball fields, two children's playgrounds and a wading pool that opens during summer. It's got four tennis courts, basketball courts and three high wall backstops for you to practice your tennis volleys or anything that you have that needs a high wall backstop. A lot of trees and picnic benches underneath the trees. There are three multi function facilities for you to gather in for parties. These need to be reserved of course. You have to be a Cerritos resident to be able to reserve these spots. There is also am Olympic swimming pool and a gym within the Park Building.

I have not been to CPE in years, and I forget how beautiful and clean this park truly is. They continue to rennovate the space, keeping it tidy and up-to-date. There is one main BBQ area (to the best of my knowledge) facing the street that we had to book months in advance. You also need to be a Cerritos resident. There are plenty of picnic table seating to accommodate large parties, and what makes it even better is that the entire area is sheltered. There are (2) BBQ grills and a water faucet conveniently next to it for easy washing of all your fruits, veggies, utensils, etc! The day we had our BBQ was perfect, it was a beaaaaautiful mid-August day with a nice breeze by the late afternoon. Everyone was pleased with both the space and the weather. We plan on continuing my dad's annual choir BBQ here. :)

They just recently re opened the play ground area during covid 19 times. I was lucky to bring my girls here for a quick trip on a Friday morning before anyone came with their kids. I really like the two soft padded play grounds and age appropriate swing sets. Their community park classes are also available at this location (May have changed with covid 19 this year). My girls greatly enjoy visiting this park.

Very nice park - has basketball courts, swimming facility, baseball, track, and tennis courts. Of course many amenities are closed due to covid. Parking is good here as well.

They took over a giant covered outdoor area with a ton of picnic tables, clean and open and perfect for a large party (I assume they had to rent this). I've been to a lot of parks over the years, and most of them don't have comparable event spaces. The one disadvantage was that we were far away from the playground, much to the chagrin of my three-year-old, who kept demanding to leave the party in favor of the play structure he saw in the distance. Liberty Park is just a huge place with several different zones. We even switched parking lots once we got there and figured out where the actual party was, on the Camp Liberty side of the park. The party was really nice, pleasant and relaxing. We had lunch, watched the dohl ceremonies (he grabbed the stethoscope, securing his future as a doctor), took pictures, and hung out with family. Then, because I'm not a monster, I took my boy to the playground. It was a great playground, well maintained and pretty quiet on a Saturday afternoon. Fewer kids, in fact, than teenagers working out and playing loud music nearby. I'm not complaining. In fact, my child was fascinated by their music and got as much entertainment from their speakers as he did from the play structure. I don't live anywhere near Cerritos, but if I did, I'd make good use of Liberty Park. What a lovely neighborhood resource, for both special events and everyday recreation.

Highly recommend these courts for pickleball too because there are a lot of courts, friendly players and it's not too advanced of play. Been coming for the last three months and I see the same players all the time. Only downside of playing pickleball here is that the courts close at like 8pm-8:30pm which is actually atrocious. I forget exactly. When I run to the restroom from the tennis/pickleball area, which looks exactly like your average park restroom. I see people on the playground and other pickleball courts (3 in the middle) (2 on side). The track is crowded too! The parking does get full in the evening so you may need to park on the street.

It's quite spacious and there are just such a variety of activities for kids, from playing in a ball pit, to stacking random foam blocks, to playing in an area filled with random electronic entertainment (like mario kart and coloring fish), to actual play area with slides and padded obstacles. Even after seeing some of the lower reviews, I still think it is relatively clean considering the amount of traffic the weekend or evening may bring. I didn't really see anything that was broken or not working, and even when the mario kart system bugged out and was on a default screen, a staff member quickly did a reset and got it back into working order within 10 minutes or so. A consideration to be made is the fact that not all the parents are attentive with their kids, so there were definitely some kids that are just disrupting other kids playing or being obnoxious/rude. It's inevitable but also makes it feel like some parents literally just let their kids do whatever with little supervision, knowing that they are within the indoor playground. For example, my 1 year old was sitting on the padded carousel, and an older kid (at least 6 y.o.) jumped into the middle of the carousel and started dancing around wildly, which would've been fine until he almost fell on top of my much smaller child. It should also be noted that the area was marked for 2 y.o. or younger, but there's pretty much no enforcement of the space. Otherwise, it's a really cool spot for kids to burn a few hours and I still think it's remarkable that they fit so many different things to do in the same area.
