I went to Liberty Park for my cousin's son's first birthday party, a big event with catering and decorations and about a hundred Koreans. They took over a giant covered outdoor area with a ton of picnic tables, clean and open and perfect for a large party (I assume they had to rent this). I've been to a lot of parks over the years, and most of them don't have comparable event spaces. The one disadvantage was that we were far away from the playground, much to the chagrin of my three-year-old, who kept demanding to leave the party in favor of the play structure he saw in the distance. Liberty Park is just a huge place with several different zones. We even switched parking lots once we got there and figured out where the actual party was, on the Camp Liberty side of the park. The party was really nice, pleasant and relaxing. We had lunch, watched the dohl ceremonies (he grabbed the stethoscope, securing his future as a doctor), took pictures, and hung out with family. Then, because I'm not a monster, I took my boy to the playground. It was a great playground, well maintained and pretty quiet on a Saturday afternoon. Fewer kids, in fact, than teenagers working out and playing loud music nearby. I'm not complaining. In fact, my child was fascinated by their music and got as much entertainment from their speakers as he did from the play structure. I don't live anywhere near Cerritos, but if I did, I'd make good use of Liberty Park. What a lovely neighborhood resource, for both special events and everyday recreation. read more

This is such a well rounded park with a community center, walking track, pickleball, tennis courts, playground and more! Highly recommend these courts for pickleball too because there are a lot of courts, friendly players and it's not too advanced of play. Been coming for the last three months and I see the same players all the time. Only downside of playing pickleball here is that the courts close at like 8pm-8:30pm which is actually atrocious. I forget exactly. When I run to the restroom from the tennis/pickleball area, which looks exactly like your average park restroom. I see people on the playground and other pickleball courts (3 in the middle) (2 on side). The track is crowded too! The parking does get full in the evening so you may need to park on the street. read more

Not a bad local park. It has a ton of pickleball courts, there is a short running/jogging track (where each lap is about .18 miles). If you're a Cerritos resident, then you can reserve their events space. The park was pretty busy when we went, so wait times for the pickleball courts were too long for us. We came here today for a friend's son's birthday party in the Washington room inside the community center. The room was spacious and there was space outside for food. Everyone had a great time. Afterwards a lot of the kids went to play at the playground. We're not from Cerritos and one of our favorite past times is exploring new playgrounds and this gets a two thumbs up. The smaller kids area is connected to the bigger kids side and there are plenty of slides, a monkey bar, and a balance beam bridge. I also saw a beach volleyball set up as well as pickleball. There were lots of families and birthday celebrations and it was a great place to hang out on a weekend The parking lot is small but plenty of free street parking off of Studebaker right by the park read more

It was a family gathering of sorts to celebrate member's journey to the other side. It's a different experience, I guess, because we usually go to a restaurant or someone's house after the ceremonies, but this was kinda nice, too. You rent the space out and use it as you see fit: rent tables and chairs, decorate as you see fit, have food catered - which is what fam had done. It was a solemn and sad gathering, but a great celebration of life nonetheless. Parking is abundant. Not an issue. Overall outdoor areas ware clean with no clutter, so that tells me it's well maintained. It's a good alternative for occasions such as the one we just had. read more

11/20/24 After getting some torture at the dentist, waiting for Hubby's turn, I decided to walk over to the park, which is about five minutes away, walking. Said Hi to Abe and I was on my merry way! This is Julie a beautiful park. I wish there was one exactly like it where I live. It is beautifully maintained. The grass is always green and people are pleasant around. There is a volleyball court pickle ball court at track, tennis courts, golf, and many covered eating areas/picnic tables It also serves as a community center and you could book your party and celebrations here. I think it is free for Cerritos residence and may be a fee for non-residence. There are two sets of playground, great for kiddies (and adults trying to recapture their childhood ). Did my 30 minutes of Vitamin D exposure & basked in the great outdoors. There is plenty of parking, but since the park gets really busy with everybody enjoying all the activities here it could get pretty packed, but it's FREE street parking available for free as well. Frisbee golf park - it was my first time, my husband's second. It was a fun time and I realized I suck at throwing a frisbee. I guess it's not like riding a bicycle, you actually need to practice to keep that muscle memory. The hole numbering was a little confusing as a first-timer. Sometimes we walked past a hole, but then saw the number placard and walked back. One hole was missing it's placard. Big muddy areas here and there (maybe those were the "hazards"?) We'd bought these 3 packs of official Frisbee Golf frisbees but I sucked so bad that there wasn't a difference in which one I threw. One was for distance, one for "putting". For me, all throws veered left, I couldn't throw distance, kept missing the basket even when I was 10 feet away. I noticed though that the longer we played, I started to get better. Maybe if I did it more often, I would become awesome! Still it was a fun way to hang out in the sunshine and get some steps. read more

I love this park. It is perfect for the whole family. You have covered picnic shelters for the elders to protect from the sunlight, jungle gym, volleyball courts and soccer fields for the kids, a walking track next to all the park activities and 3 Pickleball Courts in the middle of the walking track. I love the setup of these pickleball courts. They are side-to-side, so if a ball goes behind you, it lands on the grass and not on another court. It is best to bring a camping/foldable chair to sit as there is no chairs around the pickleball courts. People are generally nice, all age demographics. The good: This park had shaded areas a great playground for my toddler. They also have a sand volleyball area that looks well maintained and clean. Around the volleyball space is a track where you can run laps (I think 4 laps = 1 mile). The parking offered some shaded spots too. The entire park was flat. There were swings, climbing structures, balance beams, and a rock climbing wall. I liked that there were no wood chips nor dirt or sand for toddlers to make a mess in. The floor was cushiony. The bad: I'm unsure if there was a bathroom. There's no specific theme to the playground (like how some are pirate or woods themed). The interesting: There's a tennis court and some disc golf too. read more

First review of the year! This park has a bit of everything from grill stations, volleyball sand pits, pickleball courts, couple baseball fields, playgrounds and a "track." The only thing that would make this better is having basketball courts! Otherwise there's a lot of green space to do whatever outdoor activity you want. During peak times it does get a bit busy but that's expected with such a nice space. And because of that parking in the lots can a challenge. This park is pretty close to the Cerritos mall. It's a bit small but it has a track, tennis courts, baseball field, disc golf, volleyball, and lots of walking space for dogs. Just be careful because there are a lot of free dogs. There is also a running biking trail behind the park. Great picnic spot because there's not too many people around read more

This park is tricky for me. We have had a couple picnics with friends near the frisbee golf course, but the grass was mushy and too wet and the parking lot is small. But it's a great big grassy space, so it is nice for families. The big pavilions are totally closed off and I've never seen them open. There was a homeless man sleeping near our car parked near the baseball field. The park has great amenities, like a track, pickleball courts, two playgrounds, and access to the river trail. Bathrooms are closed on Sundays. We went today--a hot summer day--hoping to catch the splash pad open, but the water wasn't running. It didn't look like it had been working at all this summer. read more

This review is solely based on Liberty Park's tennis courts, so please keep that in mind while you read this review. The tennis courts at Liberty Park are actually really nice. The surface isn't is bad shape, the balls actually bounce at a good height, the fences aren't super rusted, and there are actually windbreakers, and windbreakers that don't have holes in them. I also really like how there isn't a lot of leaves, sticks, and other kinds of plant waste. These courts are free for the residents of the city of Cerritos, and non-residents usually have to pay. The reason I say "usually" is because you can play at these tennis courts for free before 10:00 AM. Otherwise, you have to make a reservation through the office staff or their app. Now for the downside of playing at these courts. I'm not sure why, but there doesn't seem to be any attempt at keeping these tennis courts free and clear of trash. As you'll see from my pictures, there is scattered throughout these courts. In fact, I even found 3 separate banana peels, each in a different state of decay. See the attached pictures for further study . An easy fix for the trash problem would just be to have a trash can inside each of the tennis courts. Since these are paid courts, at least for the most part, you could also have an employee walk around and pick up trash in the mornings as well. read more

This track is 330 around. 8 laps for a mile and a half. Lots of places for your kids to play. The bathroom closes before the park so beware of that. I've never had an issue parking. If you are getting your car worked on at the auto square it's within walking distance and could be a good use of time. read more

On 4th of July with all the picnic tables full of barbque food and the smell of meat on the coals, where are the people going to go when they need to use the bathroom? Walking past the bathroom this morning, I noticed the gates locked the entrance to the bathrooms. Hope a worker will come by later to unlock the bathrooms. This park is really clean and really big. It has a tennis court, pickleball court, area's to play basketball, a ultimate frisbee area, a children jungle gym area, a small track, a gym area, and plenty of benches for parties. There are two parking lots of which are pretty small, but there is a lot of parking on Studebaker Road. I wish there were more trees in the area to provide shade, so you may want to take that into consideration if you're throwing a party or just having a day out with friends or kids. There is a restroom which is right by their little park center. Right next door is the San Gabriel River trail which you can bike ride. It is right next to the San Gabriel River. I'm pretty sure you can walk or jog in the area, but most people were riding bikes. read more

Can be a great park for those who aren't residents! As a local resident who's been at this park for years, there used to be basketball courts, but they've been replaced with a children's playground due to conflict (court hogging even past curfew hours). What bugs me is that there are parents out there not disciplining their children, like who lets their kid ride or play ball near or on the track where people could trip and get hurt! Pet owners don't pick up their pets' waste and use the drinking fountain for their pets (gross!). So I recommend refraining from using the drinking fountain here as it is unsanitary! Some even walk their pets without a leash, so beware if you are bringing your pets here! There is a lot of littering when there are trash bins available around the park. Overall, it is a great park for walking, pickleball, volleyball, and tennis with friends and family. The people, however, just lack courtesy. read more

This park makes the best of every inch of it. Kudos to the people who planned this park and those who maintain it. I went there because I needed to find an easy course to teach my friend disc golf. This is the perfect course on which to play your first round of disc golf. The holes are short and there are very few obstacles. The tee pads for the next are very close to the baskets on a couple of holes so be conscious of that so you don't keep people waiting too long and be careful you don't get hit by an errant throw. It seems to work out pretty well, though. While I was there I saw there's a nice jogging track with a rubbery surface, two pickleball courts, at least six tennis courts, a playground, outdoor exercise equipment, a baseball field, and plenty of sidewalk for a stroll. Parking is plentiful. I use the library parking lot, but you can also easily find parking around other areas of the park if it's full. There are restrooms. The restroom by the library doesn't open until 10AM. I'm not sure when the other restroom is open. The restroom by the disc golf course is locked up and has been every time I've been there. What a gem of a park. It's the best public park I've ever found in LA county. read more

This beautiful well maintained park was located just south of the Cerritos Auto Square off of Studebaker Rd. There were 3 parking lots as well as street parking available. It looked like this park gets quite busy on weekends as there were many cyclists here to ride on the San Gabriel River Mid Trail. I was here to run a marathon where the course was run along that bike trail. It was definitely not an ideal location for a foot race as there were a ton of cyclists riding back and forth all day! On my way through the park, I saw that this park had a playground, disc golf, a track, softball field, sand volleyball courts, and tennis courts. While the park was nice, there were a lot of homeless encampments all along the San Gabriel River. read more

During the work week, anyone can make a reservation for the tennis courts after setting up an account in person with the park maintenance department. This is a large park operated by the city of Cerritos. It is located at Studebaker and South Street. There is a building with a workout center and classrooms inside it. There is a track for a walking and running. There's a playground with swings and climbing equipment for smaller children. Also a tennis court and beach volleyball area on sand. They recently started a Covid testing area. It is free. My dog and I did three laps on the track before my phone was ready to die. We came here to attend a birthday party. Because it occurred on a holiday weekend, the park was busier than normal. Finding parking was challenging and we ended up parking on Studebaker. It's a large, clean, and well-maintained park that offers a great variety of fun activities ranging from picnic areas, playgrounds for toddlers, tracks, Pickleball, besides tennis courts, baseball field, and bicycling paths nearby. The party was held at a a reserved gated shelter secluded in a quiet corner of the park. The fenced-in area, with restrooms conveniently located adjacent to it, felt private. This huge space with rows of tables can easily accommodate 100 people! A large lawn, big serving island, and ample prep space, makes it ideal for hosting celebrations. I heard that charge for renting this cavernous spot (Cerritos residents only) was quite reasonable. We had a great time. read more

An awesome place to get away from the busy world of technology & the hustle and bustle mindset to gain some peaceful time in the quaint world of nature. I appreciate how well kept this park is. Each time I visit, I see the employees working extra hard to keep the park in the beautiful state that it is in. It appears to me that they cut the grass 1-2 times per week -- which is more frequent than expected. This park has a variety of trees planted, a full track to walk/run, (2) children's play area, frisbee golf course (my first seeing such a sport!), bench w/BBQ, tennis courts, baseball field, bike trail, (2) full volleyball set up with beach sand to name a few of the amenities offered at this wonderful location. They even offer a private BBQ area for large parties you can reserve (for Cerritos residents) with a ton of picnic tables. Now that I'm older, I have grown to truly appreciate the beauty of disconnecting from the world to stroll in nature. People watching has also become a "thing" for me that puts a smile on my face. And, praying in my heart for those who I cross paths with that day. I also very much appreciate the folks who are working diligently to keep this park clean and inviting each day. This is my first Fall season here, and I love that I am able to actually experience a seasonal change in Southern California. :) The place can get quite busy during the evening hours and extremely packed on the weekends. Parking: Plenty of parking all around. Just from taking one look, you can't tell that there is a disc golf spot in the corner. The landscape is mostly flat, barely any trees. There are 9 baskets. It's a pretty short course. We brought our kids and it was easy enough for them to play. It was, however, a little busy. For those who wanna walk/run the park actually has a small track. Pretty cool. The park also offers sports equipments, indoor gym. The gym might require a fee. I have not tried it out. The park, overall, is well kept. read more
