The pool was great. The prices are a bit high compared to other pools in the Long Beach/Lakewood area. They charge more if you are not a Lakewood resident - and be ready to prove your residency if you are so you can get the cheaper rate with a Lakewood address on your ID or on a bill. The problem we found was when we arrived half an hour before the end of a swim session. We paid for about 20 min of pool time before everyone must leave the pool and pay AGAIN for the second session. We spoke with the manager and we were told their signs explained this. I've added photos of all the signs posted in the front and only found an "entry fee". Be aware the entry fee is actually a SESSION FEE. The staff does not explain this to you no matter what time you show up. So either plan your visit accordingly or bring extra cash. It is cash only.

9/16/17 baby's 1st birthday

I had my daughter's first birthday event in the sierra room here on 9/16/17. The booking process was easy. Went to lakewood city hall, parks and recreations and asked if the desired date was available. They informed me if a lakewood resident had also requested the same date, they would get priority. I ended up paying the non resident fee since the permit holder would have to be the one who stays on site at all times. If the lakewood resident left even for a minute, they would charge me the non resident fee. You pay a fee to secure the date and make the payment for remainder of balance prior to the event date. It was very convenient that they would take card payment over the phone so I didn't have to go in. A week before, I submitted the seating chart and table arrangement to the park and they had it all set up the day of. The facility is definitely older on the inside but I liked how bright and high ceiling's the sierra room was. Though it was smaller in size (accommodates 75 people), it was perfect for my party. The building and bathroom is definitely on the older side. The sierra room cloth wall panels were dirty and noticeable when we first visited. However, during party day, all our different stations and decor distracted our guests and did not take note of the older appearance of the building, dirty walls, tables and chairs. I was not aware that after the event, I had to even mop the floor until 15 mins prior to end time. They're pretty strict and I really wanted to get my security deposit back. The rental rates aren't bad but know the place is on the older side. I would however, come again for another event if need be.

I absolutely love this park. it Can get crowded, but shelter is a reserve first come basis, only if your a Lakewood resident. they have upgraded their playground, ample parking near the toddler area and on the street. Employees are very helpful, and they come around with black bags for your trash. We have had several Parties here (when its over 50ppl). no parties at the toddler shelter bummer , but that would be great. Kids love coming here. they have a few carnivals throughout the year.Just to name a few Pan-Am, Halloween, Candy lane crafts etc. Candy is cheap I have to say during the halloween carnivals, Paramount Park has better candy :) (just saying)

Sierra Hall Mayfair Park

We reserved the Sierra Hall for my son's 2nd birthday. Overall I am a fan of the hall itself, but my rating lost a star due to all the restrictions and complicated process you are required to follow to reserve. I'll start with the room details and will end with the complications. Details: We had the tables set out for 50 and there was plenty of room for play areas for the kids. You are required to send your floorplan to the park two weeks before the party. The room was exactly set-up as I had noted and the staff on site offered to help move anything if needed. Even with all the seating in the center, there was plenty of room for food tables on one end and games on the other. The Sierra room has access to a patio that is shared by another adjacent hall. You may also be able to reserve a kitchen if the other room hasn't already reserved it. We used the patio and it is a large cement area that leads up to a small lawn. The patio is adjacent to the pool, so the patio is surrounded by the building and pool fence, with just a far away an opening toward the park and parking lot. This made us feel safe to have the kids outside because it would be hard for them to run off unnoticed. Complications: You have to go to city hall to reserve. The person on the reservation must be present at the party the entire time - this isn't a big problem unless you need to run to the store to get something. You are not allowed to hang anything on the walls. You are not allowed balloons. There is a very strict timeline to turn in the floorplan, but the floorplan provided does not have any dimensions, so you feel a little in the dark.

Plenty of room so it didn't feel overcrowded either. Only thing watch out for duck poop on the walkways and grass, especially near the water. Overall, great spot for families. Definitely coming back

They took over a giant covered outdoor area with a ton of picnic tables, clean and open and perfect for a large party (I assume they had to rent this). I've been to a lot of parks over the years, and most of them don't have comparable event spaces. The one disadvantage was that we were far away from the playground, much to the chagrin of my three-year-old, who kept demanding to leave the party in favor of the play structure he saw in the distance. Liberty Park is just a huge place with several different zones. We even switched parking lots once we got there and figured out where the actual party was, on the Camp Liberty side of the park. The party was really nice, pleasant and relaxing. We had lunch, watched the dohl ceremonies (he grabbed the stethoscope, securing his future as a doctor), took pictures, and hung out with family. Then, because I'm not a monster, I took my boy to the playground. It was a great playground, well maintained and pretty quiet on a Saturday afternoon. Fewer kids, in fact, than teenagers working out and playing loud music nearby. I'm not complaining. In fact, my child was fascinated by their music and got as much entertainment from their speakers as he did from the play structure. I don't live anywhere near Cerritos, but if I did, I'd make good use of Liberty Park. What a lovely neighborhood resource, for both special events and everyday recreation.

Been coming for the last three months and I see the same players all the time. Only downside of playing pickleball here is that the courts close at like 8pm-8:30pm which is actually atrocious. I forget exactly. When I run to the restroom from the tennis/pickleball area, which looks exactly like your average park restroom. I see people on the playground and other pickleball courts (3 in the middle) (2 on side). The track is crowded too! The parking does get full in the evening so you may need to park on the street.

Happy Easter, YELPers!…read more Rynerson Park located in Lakewood, CA is a total hit with friends and family! From the spacious grounds, plentiful play areas, and even a dog run area, this park has it all. Today, Easter Sunday 2026, our group of 40 has been having a blast since this morning. The area is clean and well kept, with city workers on site doing light work in the background. Many families are enjoying picnics with one another, sharing dishes, and having a blast looking for Easter eggs. Just as we did last year, we engaged with a neighboring family for a fun game of volleyball. This has been great! There is plenty of parking available in the lot, with several spots being designated for handicap parking. No stairs or steps are needed to access the park and there is an abundance of street parking, as well. For being an outdoor enjoyment area the sound level has not gone above mid and the grounds are well kept and clean. I look forward to our annual picnic for next year, already! xx

There's even a path that leads to the river bank if you wanted to go for a run or bike ride there. Parking is plentiful. There's a back lot which you can access via the main street on Studebaker and there's also parking on the street as well, making it very convenient for your trip. The Nature Centre comprises of 105 acres in the East Regional portion, and has 2 miles of dirt trails and 1/4 mile paved trail with an indoor visitor center (located on an island near the entrance). My wife, her mom, and I visited on a beautiful Thursday afternoon and we really enjoyed it. The land prior to 1964 was used as flat farmland. In the late 60's, major excavation was done, creating two small ponds connected by a stream, all fed by a groundwater well. It now is the home to varied wildlife, with the most visible being turtles. They love to sun themselves on wooden floating platforms, and the water is clear enough to see them swimming underwater near the walking path bridges. There are three walking trails: 1. quarter mile paved loop, good for strollers 2. 1 mile dirt loop 3. a longer 2 mile loop, sharing some parts of the previous. Everything is well maintained. Three things I appreciated: not too many ducks and geese around, thus no visible droppings along the path; plenty of varied bench seating to rest or observe during the walk; lack of biting insects. The center is open 6 days a week (closed on Mondays). Admission to the center is free, but parking is $6 - $8 per vehicle, payable at entry (credit cards only, no cash accepted).
