Our family friend got married here. Beautiful area & set up. Park was clean, family & dog friendly. Bathrooms were clean, as well.

I've lived in Long Beach since 2002, and I am surprised that I have never heard of this park. After driving in a quiet residential neighborhood, I thought the GPS must be wrong. Suddenly, out of the blue, there's a park that seemed to have sprung from no where. There is even a decent size dedicated parking lot. This is a perfect location to host a large birthday party with an indoor banquet space and kitchen. The outdoor area is shaded by a grove of mature trees. I attended an outdoor fundraiser event, and they had a dance floor and stage set up on the lawn. Overall, it's a good location for special events that host around 200 people.

This a nice place for baby shower, bridal shower and kids parties. There is a large kitchen area. My nephew and his wife held their baby shower here. It was held at night so I was unable to walk the grounds. There is a beautiful massive fireplace. There is plenty of parking as well wheelchair accessible entry.

Bring bug spray! I got four mosquito bites while picnicking at this park! However, this park is a hidden gem in Lakewood! I was trying to find a place to picnic after picking up some food in Bellflower and this place popped up. After looking at some pictures, we decided to go. It's nestled between houses and a waterway (sorry, don't know what it's called). The grass was cut nicely and a nice green color, and we really loved how the area wasn't flat - they landscaped some hills to give it depth. There were a bunch of huge trees that lined a little dirt walk way through the park and near the end of the walkway is where we laid down and ate. There was also a little wooden bridge that would have water in it if we weren't in a drought. Anyways, because this place is near a waterway and houses, it's pretty quiet. I could hear the wind billowing through the trees. And with butterflies traveling from plant to plant and the occasional bird chirp, this place is great for mediations. I can see why someone would want a wedding here. There's ample parking, and there is a nice area set up where you could say "I do" with your friends and family. There are also a lot of benches outside of the venue area. I wanted to give it less than five because this is the first park I've been to where I was bitten, but it's too nice to not give it a five!

This is a park in Lakewood. There is a trail that is parallel to the San Gabriel river and a smaller trail around the park building. I walked both of them. The trail is level and easy to walk. We went as far as Carson and turned back. We passed a seabird, flowers, rocks, and trees. We walked 2 miles.

This park is such a great hidden gem within Lakewood! Discovered MVP after attending several kids' parties here. It's a smaller park tucked away with its own private recreation room that residents can rent out for a fee, nice green expanse for kiddos to run around and play on - complete with hills that I've been informed are great for rolling down, and an outdoor amphitheater with stone benches to sit on. In addition to the well maintained grass, there are trees to climb and a wooden bridge for exploring. The best part of this for me is that the park is totally enclosed with one entrance/exit which is nice for keeping the younger kiddos corralled. The rec room is very nice - there's a large fireplace and large are for tables/chairs in addition to a good sized kitchen area for food prep and bathrooms. There is also a covered outside patio where you can also set up tables/chairs. MVP even has its own parking lot. I'm a big fan of this park. Just know that if you want to reserve this space for an event, to do so wayyyy in advance as it is popular (it's so picturesque that I've heard weddings take place here) and gets booked quickly. Great little park!

One thing i would criticize is that there is No dressing room they used to have one but they changed it

I received so many compliments about this venue for my wedding! I love it!!! i was able to fit 11 tables and there was still space!! I also had my sweetheart table my dj my sweet table my cake table and i used my own chair!! The chairs that the park has are not my favorite so i decided to rent my own from somehwere else!

Ask the Community - Monte Verde Park

Can you put tables, chairs and jumpers on the grass areas?

Jumpers are not allowed. I don't know about putting tables and chairs on the grass area. If you rent the space they do provide tables and chairs at no additional charge and there are several picnic tables as well

    Do they allow alcohol?

Alcohol is not allowed at any Lakewood Park

Can you rent a jumper and have it on the patio? Can you have a taco guy?

They do not allow jumpers. I don't know about the taco guy

Does the indoor section have AC? Does the facility provide tables and chairs and what time does the park close at?? Thank you!

Yes AC & Yes they have all the tables and chairs. The party must be cleaned up by 10:30pm to receive your deposit back.

Is there any type of playground for young kids if you rent the community room for a party?

No, nothing for kids to play on, other than running up and down the hills

    Is the venue airconditioned?

    Yes

One review states that this is a private park, is it really not open to the public?

You must make a reservation to use the fenced in park with event building. Beautiful and they are remodeling right now. Anyone can walk the nature trail behind the rental facility. Trail goes from Del Amo to Carson. Favorite dog walk for me.

Plenty of room so it didn't feel overcrowded either. Only thing watch out for duck poop on the walkways and grass, especially near the water. Overall, great spot for families. Definitely coming back

They took over a giant covered outdoor area with a ton of picnic tables, clean and open and perfect for a large party (I assume they had to rent this). I've been to a lot of parks over the years, and most of them don't have comparable event spaces. The one disadvantage was that we were far away from the playground, much to the chagrin of my three-year-old, who kept demanding to leave the party in favor of the play structure he saw in the distance. Liberty Park is just a huge place with several different zones. We even switched parking lots once we got there and figured out where the actual party was, on the Camp Liberty side of the park. The party was really nice, pleasant and relaxing. We had lunch, watched the dohl ceremonies (he grabbed the stethoscope, securing his future as a doctor), took pictures, and hung out with family. Then, because I'm not a monster, I took my boy to the playground. It was a great playground, well maintained and pretty quiet on a Saturday afternoon. Fewer kids, in fact, than teenagers working out and playing loud music nearby. I'm not complaining. In fact, my child was fascinated by their music and got as much entertainment from their speakers as he did from the play structure. I don't live anywhere near Cerritos, but if I did, I'd make good use of Liberty Park. What a lovely neighborhood resource, for both special events and everyday recreation.

Been coming for the last three months and I see the same players all the time. Only downside of playing pickleball here is that the courts close at like 8pm-8:30pm which is actually atrocious. I forget exactly. When I run to the restroom from the tennis/pickleball area, which looks exactly like your average park restroom. I see people on the playground and other pickleball courts (3 in the middle) (2 on side). The track is crowded too! The parking does get full in the evening so you may need to park on the street.

From the spacious grounds, plentiful play areas, and even a dog run area, this park has it all. Today, Easter Sunday 2026, our group of 40 has been having a blast since this morning. The area is clean and well kept, with city workers on site doing light work in the background. Many families are enjoying picnics with one another, sharing dishes, and having a blast looking for Easter eggs. Just as we did last year, we engaged with a neighboring family for a fun game of volleyball. This has been great! There is plenty of parking available in the lot, with several spots being designated for handicap parking. No stairs or steps are needed to access the park and there is an abundance of street parking, as well. For being an outdoor enjoyment area the sound level has not gone above mid and the grounds are well kept and clean. I look forward to our annual picnic for next year, already! xx

My wife, her mom, and I visited on a beautiful Thursday afternoon and we really enjoyed it. The land prior to 1964 was used as flat farmland. In the late 60's, major excavation was done, creating two small ponds connected by a stream, all fed by a groundwater well. It now is the home to varied wildlife, with the most visible being turtles. They love to sun themselves on wooden floating platforms, and the water is clear enough to see them swimming underwater near the walking path bridges. There are three walking trails: 1. quarter mile paved loop, good for strollers 2. 1 mile dirt loop 3. a longer 2 mile loop, sharing some parts of the previous. Everything is well maintained. Three things I appreciated: not too many ducks and geese around, thus no visible droppings along the path; plenty of varied bench seating to rest or observe during the walk; lack of biting insects. The center is open 6 days a week (closed on Mondays). Admission to the center is free, but parking is $6 - $8 per vehicle, payable at entry (credit cards only, no cash accepted). To incentivize myself to come here more often, decided to buy one for $43 (senior discount), minus the $7 already paid for the one time fee.
