Amazing small park for our pirate pretenders. Very clean and features a slide and ship

Posted op hours said it was open today, 7/2 @ 4:45pm Was closer upon arrival, they have posted op hours on site that differ from those here on Yelp, ironically those times said they would be open until 6:45pm which is also not accurate. The park is compact and found within the parking lot behind the Subway and restaurants. There was another parent there with a small child when I arrived. There was also a couple inside the children's pirates themed enclosure acting suspicious and most likely using drugs. The couple wouldn't leave although the other parent asked them to. I was left feeling uneasy when the parks and recreation worker refused to check the enclosure for left over drug paraphernalia. I wouldn't go back. read more

Wish we could have experienced this park. Unfortunately, it's closed for repairs. It looks awesome from the outside and a dream for kids, especially those who love adventure. Hope the repairs are completed soon so it can be enjoyed by all. Also, I plan to update this review following repairs. This review is based on what I saw which looked amazing but repairs are needed. The good: Arrr, matey this be a fine and golden park! This is the treasure! There's a parking lot right by the park but also street parking. The park is small and gated off but it's so unique and awesome for little ones' imaginations. There's a giant ship, a little boat, a treasure chest, footprints, skull rock and a x on the ground marking the treasure. I like how there's a slide integrated into the rock and boat and how it's solid and smooth cement. The park is downtown so it's walking distance to restaurants for a good combo day of play and eat. The bad: There's an area with a vertical ladder that's meant for climbing up and not down but it seems a little dangerous. The interesting: There are so many cool trees and plants around the park including bamboo, pine tree and palm trees. The palm trees add to the island feel with the pirate theme. read more

Cute enough for kids but not particularly inviting. Small size. Not really worth a detour.

This was a very cute little park which we found through Yelp as we were in the neighborhood. There were no bathrooms available, which is always a bummer - and something that I don't understand when it comes to places that are *literally* made for small children. The park does not have slides, but my son had fun climbing on the pirate ship, the skull cave, and the fort. There was plenty of parking and the park was fenced in - which is a personal preference of mine. read more

This is such a cute little park based I I nice little community. Was with a group and all the other kids just gravitated towards all the other children. So great to see kids just being kids. Love this little spot a fun cave a slide and cool treee crossing. read more

What a cute park! My girls are 5 and 7 and we spend some time here early in the morning. They were done after about 20 mins but probably would have played longer if we had friends with them. It is unique and cute but definitely small. There are so cool looking businesses near by, including a bakery and Italian place. It is a cute place. read more

The park was very small, but cute. It's a nice park to play pretend. No actual games aside from on small slide. A good place to run a climb and play pretend. It's small enough where you can sit in a corner and see the whole place. read more

Great little park for ages 2 and up! My son had such a great time it's kinda simple but he was able to run around its gated which I love. He was so excited seeing the boats that he could climb. read more

This playground is small but it has big play equipment My 4 year old enjoyed her time here I would y recommend it unless you live close to it. Very cute little pirate themed park. Has limited equipment but is more for climbing and role play type of adventure but we'll work checking out for younger kids if you are close. It's free entrance and free parking, but had limited hours and is locked when closed. The playground is right beside the sheriff's station so feels secure, and is near restaurants and stores on the nearby street. read more

Not clean. Kids playground had lots of trash. To be specific it can look like bums have hung out inside cave area of sorts. I brought my toddlers here because in pics it looks clean. There were no restrooms available. Both my oldest both had to go and could not find anything near by. Will I go back probably not. Have not since then. read more

Ahoy! Avast me hearties! A pirate life near Downey does exist! On an early Sunday morning, Pirate Park is not that crowded. Our toddlers - ages 1 and 2 - enjoyed their most recent visit here (2/21/16). We couldn't let them climb all over the big rocks and potentially dangerous areas like all of the older kids, but they still expelled an enormous amount of energy playing on the large ship, the little boat, and some of the tower area. They liked the cushy ground, but if you have young kiddos like ours - their knees might get skinned up. Jeans would be best. The best part was... it's FREE. Mostly clean (although I did pick up some trash). Partly shaded. Enclosed, but I still watch my kids like a hawk. From Bellflower Blvd, just drive around the back to find ample parking in one of the nearby lots. Entry inside the park is through one side as I believe the back door is for emergency purposes only. Two trash cans are located at the front. I'm not sure about public restrooms nearby, but there are several restaurants in the area to get a snack at afterwards. This would be a cool place for a scavenger hunt as long as you could hide items away from other kiddos... because, you know, it's a public playground/park. The City maintains this facility. Great fun park to take the kids, however when the sun's out, everything is HOT to touch !! And there's a lot of cute stores around too. The only drawback is that the only restroom they have was close. read more

Fun cool place for kids to play ages from 5-10 years old when ever I've been in the area I always take my son there he loves it.

This is definitely a nice little place to bring the kids before breakfast. Its clean, soft flooring ,and has it's own water fountain. Its also situated next to what resembles a sheriff substation or hub which I would imagine makes it a little safer for the little ones to run around. A few warnings though, there are no attendants so like any other park although this one is gated and kids run rampant so be mindful of the ladder to the bridge, the slide on the pirate ship, (you can nail your head on it if not paying attention) and note that all stone objects are actually stone. read more

Went here with my one year old and it was a neat little play area tucked away in the downtown area of Bellflower. Kept cleaned and has some real cool stuff but definitely meant for older kids that can run, climb. read more

I wouldn't really call this a park, I'd call it "Pirates Playground" lol. It's literally just play structures shaped like a ship, skull, boat, & treasure chest all fenced in. It's cool for pictures & my 1 year had fun just running around, but it's like a 10 minutes entertainment place. Kind of boring after a minute. Its in a parking lot behind the shops, so when your GPS takes you to some shops just go behind them to find the blue fenced in area. read more

Bellflower's Pirate Park is a themed playground, somewhat on par with Cerritos' Heritage Park or San Gabriel's Vincent Lugo Park. Except instead of a wooden village the kids just sort of run around or concrete sea monsters they chip teeth on, everything's covered in a soft foam, including the ground. The playground, labeled Port Bellfleur, features a pirate ship with a row boat, a treasure chest, a skull-shaped cave, and a slide. Pretty whimsical, though the foam covering is starting to show a lot of wear these days. It's completely gated off, and locked up at night. Positioned just west of Friendship Square, the playground is only a few yards from Bellflower's Sheriff Station. Pirate Park is not in an actual park (though Simms is right down the street), rather it's built at the end of a street, surrounded by parking lots and a Subway sandwich shop. read more
