Amazing food, nice atmosphere. Has a little bar. Don't blink you might miss. Next time there will go again

In this day and age when people are being selective about where they spend their dollars it would seem that eating establishments would take more care and pride in their food offerings. Vesuvio's is a poor example of Italian cuisine. I went the past weekend getting the "braised beef ravioli " the ravioli was bland no flavor to be noted. The sauce tasted like straight canned tomato sauce. No garlic, basil oregano or any other notes of true Italian cooking. The salad was iceberg lettuce. 1 quarter slice of tomato and a few red onions. Very sad. The meat ball although large was also dry bland and without any flavor. My husband ordered the pizza. It did look to be made with fresh dough. But was nothing to write home about. People save your hard earned money and look else where if you want an Italian meal. This is not the place, read more

Food is ok, but tastes like it's from Sysco instead of homemade/cooked fresh. Meatballs were dry and hard as a rock, and the marinara was bland. The Pasta Marie did not taste like it was made with a hot pepper sauce, more like a canned tomato sauce. Adding Parmesan from home and using our dressings for the salads made it taste better than the dressings provided. Also, hands down worst garlic bread I've ever had. No crisp to it, just a soggy piece of bread that tasted like it was saturated in butter, salt, and another high sodium seasoning (maybe garlic powder). Wedding soup was almost entirely broth, barely any chicken. It seemed like they didn't bother to stir the soup before serving as all the ingredients naturally sank to the bottom of the pot where it remained. For the price paid (over $50) for this quality of food, it would have been a better choice to cook some pasta and simply add canned sauce at home. read more

We ordered a garden salad which had wilted, white lettuce and large chucks of the lettuce core center. Then, a large thick crust pizza which was rather bland tasting and the dough texture was very heavy, gummy. Next time, no salad and only a thin crust pizza! read more

The food was a mix. Italian with a tasteless sauce. My family had to asked multiple times for service just for drinks for the kid. The tables were all in back next to the waitress and we still had issues with getting service. read more

I love this place. The food is great, portions are generous, consistently friendly service. A longtime favorite of our Italian family.

This must have been an off night or Vesuvio's have become complacent in their quality and service. We've always enjoyed both previously; that has always brought us back. Tonight's meal and service totally missed the mark. I am not sure if the server completely ignored me when I spoke, but I got just about a wrong everything. Beverage was wrong , asked for tomato cucumber salad- came with no cucumbers- and yes it is on the menu that way. Half of my soup was on the plate below the cup, my meal when it finally did come- it was given to the wrong table so they had to make it over- was missing the meatballs I ordered. No apologies, in fact the waitress was very quick to respond and move on from our table. My husband said his food was very bland as well. Asked about the price of his meal when bill came and was told there was an up charge for soup as a side. Would have been courteous to tell us in advance. Again not typical of our previous experiences. Definitely not what is expected for $90 meal for 2. I hope they do better next time or they will no longer be one of our favorites. read more

Nice little home town spot, very family friendly. It seems to be family owned and has a wide variety of Italian specialties. I thought the pizza was good. I also had the pasta primavera-definitely unique. There seems to be a decent wine list. Staff are friendly and there a not long wait times. read more

We stumbled upon Vesuvio's Italian Restaurant when another restaurant was closed for the holiday weekend. What a delightful experience. Gabby was our server and she told us about her family. It's so nice to know they're from Aliquippa like my family. My Mom had the half serving of Gnocchi and I had Aglio E Olio with penne and chicken. Delicious!! We have found our italian restaurant! Came here with my boyfriend for dinner. The service did a great job because they were absolutely packed. We waited about 45 minutes from the time we ordered until we got our food, which we weren't happy about, but like I said, they were packed. The food itself was pretty good. I got the gnocchi with meatballs, and my boyfriend got Alfredo with chicken. I wasn't a fan of the meatballs, and he got dry grilled chicken, but the pasta was great! It was also very pricey. I am torn if I should leave a 2 or 3. We are a aprt of the PWS and have watched others post anout the food. Pros- good whiskey selection, pasta was good. Cons The meeatballs were cold and the server took them back and brought them bavk and said they were reheated- disgusting and they were still cold. Creme brulee- meh, was over runny and thr sugar on top was burnt. I am an Italian food fan, so when a family member suggested ordering dinner here, I was all for it. The menu is extensive, with everything from appetizers, to soup, to sandwiches, entrees and dessert. I am a pretty simple eater so I got a half order of penne pasta with marinara. The half order filled my whole plate and was plenty to eat. The price was right. It was just pasta with marinara, nothing special. We did have homemade rolls which were good. read more

The food is normally very good I have no complaints about that and I feel the pizza is the best around. However, I ordered a chicken hoagie today. It was a piece of fried chicken on a hoagie bun. THATS IT! No lettuce, tomato, cheese, condiments, nothing! The waitress said well that's the way it comes. I said take it back and take it off my bill! I hope you're not in a hurry if you eat here. Service was very slow. The restaurant was not crowded so there's really no excuse for slow service. Our waitress Liz was very nice. The food was mediocre. We had a pizza, angel hair pasta and ravioli. I did like the house salad but not the angel hair pasta. The ravioli was pretty good. It may not look like your average Italian restaurant, but Vesuvio's is anything but. Definition of a hole in the wall. I wondered in with two friends on a Friday night, and was immediately greeted by the friendly staff and incredible aroma of fettuccini l. The restaurant was filling up quickly (approximately 7:00) but we managed to snag a table. We ordered the calamari rings and deep fried ravioli as appetizers. The calamari was out of this world. Fried to perfection. The ravioli was God's gift to the world. Salivating thinking about it. I order a dry Riesling to pair with it, thanks to the recommendation of the server. Chef's kiss. We weren't finished yet. I followed up with ordering the Pasta Di Casa, a classic favorite that consisted of fresh chopped garlic, onion, hot peppers, mushrooms lightly sautéed in olive oil and simmered in a rich tomato sauce. If I had died on the way home in a horrific car crash, I would've died a happy man. I wasn't even able to take a picture of the entree because I had already began inhaling it before the server left the table. I ordered gluten free pasta with bolognese sauce $25. The pasta wasn't cooked. Also ordered a Sausage - it was raw. Waitress made excuses didn't bother to make it right. Last time I visited I ordered GF pasta with alfredo sauce...I got regular Alfredo sauce and was sick for a couple days. Don't bother having GF items if you don't know how to cook them or understand that if you give a celiacs person flour they become violently ill. (Get there early for this) And gnocchi, and pesto...and a dish called Mediterranean Pasta, with artichoke, sundries tomato, garlic, spinach & kalamata olives that deeply satisfying, for those who don't eat meat. This rating is based on two experiences. The first was a dine-in with family. Fabulous pizza, I do enjoyed the leftovers for lunch the next day. I give that experience a 5. The second experience earned a 1 because, when I called to place a delivery order,I was left hanging on the line listening to them serve other customers in the background for a few minutes. I took my business elsewhere that evening. If dining in (which I would do) you will enjoy very much, but I do not recommend calling for delivery. After a nerve-rattling experience at Lowe's, we figured a Pasta dish would calm the nerves. We walk in and see the sign "We're short staffed", blah, blah. We were seated quickly, one of two tables in the place. The Hostess takes our drink order and says the waitress will be right over. I get my water, my Buddy never did get his wine. We sat and waited...and waited. We didn't see any server. Pretty soon a lady walks in that had a reservation which they had a problem with...was it 15? 10? Oh, 8...ok. I ordered the homemade baked lasagna with wedding soup and garlic bread. The soup didn't have any acini de pepe that i saw and had a lut of stringy spinach. The garlic bread was good. The lasagna had a weird taste and didn't taste like authentic Italian foos that I am used to. I don't. recommend going there. I've stopped in here twice for lunch in the past two years. Service has been friendly & it wasn't very busy at lunch time. I had a small steak salad & opted to not get the fries on it. The salad was nothing special, just your average garden salad with iceberg, tomato, onion & cucumber. Steak was thin sliced, a bit more well done than I prefer (they didn't ask how I wanted it cooked) , but it tasted fine. It was only like $8.99 so it was plenty for lunch & they refilled my iced tea regularly. A decent place for lunch (the Italian dishes look like large portions) if you want to avoid fast food & not have a wait. It's located in the strip mall with Panera & across from Target. Small family owned Italian restaurant with a friendly atmosphere and great traditional Italian dishes. My go to is their cucumber salad followed by angel hair pasta with a meatball and their homemade marinara sauce, (with a nice glass of wine of course). You may have to wait for a table during peak times - optional is the seating in the bar area. Their pizza is also a good choice and they offer several varieties. Parking lot area is shared by multiple businesses but there is parking iavailable across the road. read more

Came here for the first time for dinner, on a recommendation. I ordered the eggplant parmesan and hubby ordered the panzerotti (a small fried calzone filled with cheese) and added pepperoni inside. What's Hot - Portions. HUGE. There's definitely enough for leftovers. The only reason why I finished my dish is because I shared it with my husband. I saw the wait staff regularly bring out take-away containers. Looks like the portions is a selling point and emphasis for this restaurant. - Menu variety. There's something for everyone- vegetarian dishes, meat dishes, pizza, calzones, salads, etc... There's also a gluten free page on their menu, which is helpful. After all, Italian food is very gluten heavy, so it's nice to see the accommodation. - Prices. Good size portions for the price of the dishes. However, it seems like the size of the portions is the only thing you're paying for. What's Not - They charge for bread! My meal came with 2 pieces of a buttery garlic bread. It was delicious and served warm. When we asked for some more bread, the waitress told us we would be charged extra. I've never been to a restaurant that charges for bread. Not cool. - Service. The wait staff are always walking quickly. Gives me the impression that they're short staff, because the wait staff are constantly on the move. In other words, its difficult to flag down any wait staff. For example, we never got water refills. Additionally, the restaurant was not full when we were there- only a handful of tables. - Quality. My eggplant parmesan wasn't that great. Only 3-4 slices of eggplant. It was pretty much pasta drenched in tomato sauce, which was very plain. The flavor was so-so. - Prices. The eggplant parmesan is $13. Given the quality of what I got in exchange for the price- not worth it. Hubby's panzerotti is around $7. A fried calzone shrinks in size, which means that this dish isn't large at all. Additionally, it's only filled with cheese. It definitely didn't fill my husband up. The only reason why my husband was able to fill up is because he ate off my plate. Observation - Their pizza looks impressive. The wait staff brought a pizza to another table nearby, so we got a look at the pizza. It looked freshly baked- high rise and thick crust. The toppings looked plentiful. Made me regret not ordering the pizza. Final Answer Willing to come back again, but it would only be to try the pizza. If I didn't see the pizza, I would give this place 2 stars. read more
