This is a great little italian spot. The food is delicious and so are the brunch cocktails. I went here for brunch with my roommate last weekend, and was not disappointed. We had just moved in down the block. My roommate had a bloody mary and a mimosa. I had a mimosa and the lemonade cocktail. All were delicious. We both got the same entree. I can't remember the name of it, but it was polenta based with different veggies and an egg. It was yummy. I would highly recommend it. Decent food here. My friend and I split the butternut squash soup and salad and then the margherita pizza and the shrimp pasta. The pasta was not as al dente as I like it. I love places like this. My wife, my 9 year old son and I dined here last Saturday evening after a recommendation from a friend and neighbor in LIC. Food and service were both terrific...the food truly spectacular. My son had the pizza, my wife a pasta, and I had the braised pork shoulder. The service we had was great. We were a large party of 7 people and they sat us with plenty of room and the server was very accommodating. I would recommend making a reservation as this place is really small. Had the meatball appetizer very good. The sauce that the meatballs were in was really good and flavorful. Shared the Potato & Pancetta caramelized onions, apple & goat cheese- this was delicious! I would eat this everyday if i could. And of course we had the Baby Jesus Cake which did not disappoint. I went to this place a few years ago....three times. It was excellent The theme was Italian. I don't know if the ownership changed or chefs??? I respect the menu without boundaries idea, but the food was a bit boring this time. Exciting concepts, bland execution. The wine is still great, and the service is impeccable. I recommend it still, with hesitation on the "exotic" sounding dishes. They are bland and boring. Someone near me ordered the lasagne and I could smell how wonderful it it was..... Service was very good also. Lets get to the good stuff...the food. First the wine list was very small & not that impressive. I am not at all a snob of wine but at least if you're an Italian restaurant please have a better selection. Second, the food. Now first, let me tell you I've been spoiled by real authentic Italian food almost on a daily basis by friends & family and this was just blah. That's all I can say. Came here for dinner during the past weekend. The service was very good. I must say the food was not as great as I thought it would be. The glazed pork ribs was not good. Came here for a birthday dinner with a party of 11. I wouldn't recommend coming here with a big party, it's not very big and feels awkward when your party takes up 1/3 of the place. It would be a great date night and brunch. Most of the party seemed to enjoy their food with the lasagna being the only dish that stood out. I'm so happy Vesta came to the neighborhood! It has a somewhat small menu but just about everything is good. I've had pasta, pizza and their burger. I wasn't a huge fan of their bechemel pizza and some other different pizzas, but they've now changed their menu to only include 3 pizzas. Came here for a romantic date with the husband... trying to get in as much time as possible before the babe is born:) In any case we did not know we had to make a reservation but were lucky there was plenty of space at the cozy bar and enjoyed having the bar tender/ server's full attention throughout our stay. We had a watermelon kale and ricotta salad that was on the menu for Fall, the red white and green pizza which includes bechamel, fennel sausage, pesto, blistered cherry tomatoes & grana , and the butternut squash pasta also on the menu for Fall. Everything was delicious and worth the long wait for the food. The only thing we were a bit unhappy about was the pizza which had some extra crispy (slightly burnt) edges which I know is hard to control since it is a very flatbread and thin pizza. In any case the true reason I had to make a stop to this fine establishment was for the BABY JESUS cake.. and yes folks it is as if Baby Jesus himself made this most moist, most sweet, most perfect slice of heaven that is worth every single bite. The Italian translation for it is "La Torta del Piccolo Bambino Gesu Cristo" I had it with the creme fraiche gelato you can add to it and the whole thing is worth the 9 dollars for the dessert. It tastes like caramel and oozes gooey sauce in every bite. I mean seriously I could have a love affair with the cake... almost wish they sold the thing as a whole cake to go! I love Vesta and it is definitely the perfect place for an intimate dinner with a significant other or friends. Vesta is well worth the trip! Their food is delicious (and mostly if not all local I think), great wine selections (some of them also local) too. My boyfriend and I fell head over heels for the Saltie pizza and went back several times for that alone. Their menu is always changing and filled with great choices. I've been to Vesta a handful of times, and our visit last Friday night was the most impressive. The food was extraordinary, just so tasty and fresh. The three of us ordered and shared the following: Appetizers- PEI Mussels: The mussels were tender, and the broth was a unique curried carrot broth. Interesting. Solid Chilled Roasted Tomato Soup with basil & cream: Refreshing cold soup on a warm summer evening. The basil cream was a nice touch. Visually, the colors of the Italian flag were enticing. Main- Pappardelle, pancetta, ramps, shaved grana cheese & egg yolk: This dish was a highlight of the evening. The wide, flat Pappardelle noodles were great, and obviously fresh. The noodle texture stood up well to the large chunks of delicious pancetta. The grana cheese was perfectly flaked. Orecchiette, housemade pork sausage, kale pesto: Another fine dish. The sausage was not too heavy nor oily. And the kale pesto was brilliant. Pizza with Spicy Clam, pickled Serrano, parsley: Another hit. The pizza had a light sauce, almost like a vodka sauce, which was a surprise. I would have preferred a traditional tomato sauce, but maybe that's only because it was what I expected. There were just the right amount of Serrano chilies on the pie, so as not to outdo the clams. And what better ingredient is there to complement those clams than fresh parsley. The crust was thin, crispy, slightly charred and perfect. Desert- I forget what we had for desert, because I don't really eat desert, but my wife and our friend loved it. The desert prompted a debate on the subtle differences between caramel and toffee. My argument prevailed. Maybe by this point, the ladies were a bit tipsy. Wine- Here's where Vesta lost a star. We decided to mix it up and order Prosecco. It turns out that we made the right choice, because it was delicious and light. Again, a nice option for a warm evening. When we ordered a second bottle, they had run out of what we had ordered. The second bottle of Prosecco wasn't quite as good, and it was too sweet. Also, the bottle was not chilled, so we were asked to wait for the bottle to cool down a bit. The bottle finally showed up, but it was not yet cold enough. So it was kept in an ice bucket on our table. For a wine-centric place like Vesta, it seemed like they should have been better prepared for Friday night wine service. I mean, I constantly have chilled wine ready to drink at my apartment. Any my apartment is not a wine bar. Service- Our waiter was pleasant and attentive. It was busy, but his timing was always spot on. He was friendly without being phony. We enjoyed speaking with him about the neighborhood. Space- It is small, noisy and crowded. But Vesta does a good job maximizing the minimal amount of space. The rustic decor is quirky and cool I don't mind being in a cramped, noisy space as long as there's great food and wine in front of me. It's not like I was suffering on the subway or something. Price- Affordable. Less than I expected. Vesta is a real asset to the neighborhood. We'll certainly return, and I will recommend it to anybody who has yet to try it. read more

Best dinner spot in town, hands down. I've been here numerous times for brunch and dinner and each time I leave beyond satisfied. The menu is simple but the dishes are unique and use flavors that complement each other so well. I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone... the atmosphere is warm and romantic and the staff is super friendly.
