If you are are looking to try a vesper because you like james bond, curious how the drink tastes, or are a cocktail snob like me, please don't let this be you're first experience with the drink. I came here with the intentions of the best vesper ever, and sadly, it was the worst. A proper vesper is 3 ingredients, vodka, London gin, and kinna lillet. All mixed together, stirred with ice and strained into a martini glass. This place serves it pre made in an "on tap" fashion, and the kinna lillet, which is a fortified wine, goes all sour when it sits mixed with the rest of the booze. It makes for a really harsh drink, and rather spicy for some unknown reason, and to make things worse, it's served in a rocks glass with a bunch of ice. Now, that is my one star review, I gave it three stars because the food is amazing, I had the best gyro I think I've ever had. I really recommend this place if you're into a dive bar atmosphere with a modern hipster touch, and enjoy Mediterranean / Moroccan food. Great place otherwise. read more

I love how this place has honored the old layout and divey-ness of Lancer Lounge. The bar is well tended with a few unique options on draft. I LOVE the fried chick pea dish and the lamb kebabs I devoured last night were delicious. I think the price of the lamb kebab was about $2 too high (10 small chunks of lamb for 13 bucks? HMPH!) This was a surprisingly good experience! Not that I expected a negative one. I wanted to find a nearby happy hour spot to kill time. Vesper Lounge was it. I ordered their hummus dip and gyro slider. Not bad for a late night place but the food, a shredded lamb pita and a gyros pita, both with French fries was SERIOUSLY salty. I needed a second beer to wash everything down because of the salt. Service was prompt and friendly and the waitstaff was helpful. When I kept asking for more water because of the salty food, our waitress agreed everything was over salted. Maybe some other menu items are less salty, so if we come back, I'll have to get something different. Other than all the salt, it was an ok place. read more

I got off work craving a good cheeseburger and nothing sounded good in our neighborhood. So I went to one of our favorite haunts and got "Frank's Breakfast burger". It did not disappoint. What a great burger; the cheese, bacon and egg were like a symphony together and the beef was on point. Mission accomplished. A few boulevardiers later and it was a great night watching the Broncos work some magic in the draft. I went to the Vesper Lounge for my first time the other night using the Denver Passport. The cocktails I ordered were both very good! I had the Hawaiian John Daily and an Old Fashioned. The Old Fashioned was a little sweeter than I preferred. I also ordered some food, and it was great! The friend artichokes were the best thing I've tasted from a restaurant in a while! I also had a hamburger, fries, and a beer for only $10 - that is their Sunday Special. The burger was cooked perfectly! I will definitely be back! read more

I love this bar. I go often and the service is great! The bartender Spencer is awesome. This is one of my favorite places to hang out in Cap Hill. Our server argued that we ordered hummus, when we ordered taziki, when we were asking her where it was and she never brought it or came back to our table. Rolled eyes and attitude for days and the worst demeanor because a she was too busy talking to a dude and looking at her phone. After my first visit, i have been back weekly and try to take someone new every time (I want to share this place with everyone). Good place to grab a beer and some grub late. Located on the site of the old lancers--one of the diviest most desperate alcoholic lairs you've seen this side of a Bukowski short--this Bonano "concept" is a nice counterbalance to his nearby fine dining. The basic idea is somewhat classed up dive bar with a limited menu, mostly burgers and gyros. Chances are you will find a lot of the service industry crowd coming in off work for some R&R. Who knows where to get a beer and a burger better than a bunch of bartenders and line cooks right? The food is cheap, the tap list, though limited, usually has a few good local beers on it. The cocktails "on tap" are pretty good. There are some blemishes. The food can be inconsistent (especially regarding cooking the burgers to temp), special orders may come through messed up, and sometimes the place is horribly understaffed, but despite these occasional hiccups this place is a solid late night spot to grab a few drinks with friends and pig out on a gyro or a burger. read more

I gave it a second try tonight and was once again disappointed in everything except for the staff (the same eager staff who is writing these 6 paragraph reviews ;) We tried the gyro and the lamb burger and several of their "dips". The gyro is pre-sliced deli meat and the lamb burger tasted like cheap hamburger. The hummus had a consistency of well blended baby food and the fries were fries. From an elite restaurateur, the food is a complete let down. Drinks were overpriced and in miniature low-ball glasses. The atmosphere is odd as well. If you are expecting a neighborhood bar you will be sorely disappointed. I won't be giving it a third try. read more

Meh. Heard a lot about this spot so I thought I'd check it out. Drinks are average strength in my experience but happy hour prices are fair. I tried the signature Vesper, which was... disappointing. I think a vodka tonic would have been better. I was disappointed by most of the food. For a Bonnano joint I guess I expected more but the shrimp lettuce wraps were literally just chopped up shrimp bits on a butter lettuce leaf. Rather basic and dry. And at $3/ leaf, not what I call worth it. Had the wings, too - small and dryish. I do think the lamb pita was really good - the pita was soft and fresh and the lamb and filling was delicious but the fries were awful - I think they put cumin or something on them. Ick. The patio was sort of scrabbled together with what seemed like a collection of yard sale tables and chairs, and I wasnt sure if there was wait service on the patio. It took a while for the (lone) server to get to us but she was the only one on that night so I cut her some slack. She was actually really good considering she had to cover all the tables. So I guess if you're in the mood for a tired Speer area dive bar with no real character and average deals and food, this works. read more

I've really come around to the Vesper in the past few months. Admittedly, I was crushed when the Lancer closed, as it was pretty much my perfect dive bar. When Vesper first opened, I had a rough couple of visits--namely because the music was so bad. Just inexplicably bad like '90s indie jock rock. No bueno. But I've now come back a few times and am getting steadily won over. The cocktails on tap are great. I usually stick to the Old-Fashioned, because yum. They also have a pretty good Mediterranean food menu; the dips were superb, the salad was good because of an amazing dressing, and the homemade Funions were awesome, but far too few! For the price, there should have been double (says the chick who wants unlimited Funions). Lately, we've been enjoying Tuesday Geeks Who Drink trivia. My verdict: Vesper is a perfectly nice little neighborhood bar. The music could still be a little better (face it: the music makes the bar), but I'm won over. read more

First and foremost, I must say that I come here for the drinks, not the food. I have tried most of the food, and the burger is REALLY good, but overall its not my thing. The drinks however very much are! Obviously the success of any bar depends on its bartenders, and that is what this place gets so well. They are all really friendly and pour a mean martini, while also always being up for a friendly chat. I cannot tell you how hard it is to find this combo in Denver, its usually one or the other: great drinks with terrible service, or great service with crap drinks. Their all day HH on Mondays is especially nice during the warmer months, when you can sit outside and enjoy a great cocktail. While I am a big fan of most of their on-tap cocktails, some friends have been not so thrilled with the mixer choices so be cautious with those, or just ask to try one first. The beer list is also really great (the HH offers several beer & a shot combo's). The ambience is also a standout. I love all the local art on the walls, and the lighting is exactly how a bar should be lit: soft but light enough to see the person across from me. The jukebox is great too! Grab some friends and head down here anytime, no matter what time of day or day of the week, this place delivers. read more

so yeah, this is our neighborhood bar. happy hour all day and night monday - yes please! you can't beat the prices and when you're unsure of what kind of shot you want with your beer the bartenders are ready to offer up options based on your prefs. staff is super friendly and each time we've been theres been lots of lively conversation around the bar, sometimes bringing others into the convo making it feel real neighborhood-y. tried the snacks and they are delicious, especially the fries. atmosphere is really laid back. we'll probably be here every monday! read more

This place still has an old dive bar feel but it's clean, has great drinks and even better food. The crispy garbanzos are salty and spicy, delicious. The lettuce cups were super fresh and so flavorful. The wings were a perfect size, not grossly large like most places have now. They were perfectly crisp and doused in a savory, sweet and spicy honey sauce. They were great. The mixed drinks are all on tap so they are consistently consistent. Overall a great place for great food and great drinks. The service was good too. read more
