I gotta say - I really am disappointed with the service here as of late. The last handful of visits to Vesper, I have been met with honestly *cold* food every single time. Dude, if I'm about to house burgers and fries, they better be worth the calories- and that means I want them to be hot! Shouldn't be too crazy of a request, right? I am a big believer in word of mouth, and have definitely sent friends your way before. Your menu is awesome - but I really wish you'd tackle this issue of delivering food thats hot and ready to eat. I think it partly comes from being under staffed- most times I go, there's one person manning the bar and the tables- that doesn't seem wise, especially on a Monday when you have your all day happy hour. In addition, when I asked about warming up my food I did not get the response I was hoping for. The staff is pretty apathetic / indifferent which is odd to me - that's your job. I know you guys know how to run a restaurant bc you have several others. Please please take this review into account and I'll gladly change my star rating. I am a regular customer who lives nearby, and would like to keep coming back but I can't justify paying for cold fried food. I hope to see improvements soon. I was pretty disappointed after being excited for this place. Came here for happy hour and some food since I am a local and this place is just a block away from me. I ordered a mexican mule which was very delicious at first, but then when i ordered a second one in a taller glass it tasted like dirty water and they couldn't even fix it, and charged me for it. On top of the nasty drinks, the service was terrible and we had 4 different people as a server, but at least the Juicy D burger I ordered was good (after 2 hours of waiting for it to come out). read more

The food here is good! They have a great Gyro and the fries are the bomb! So good! Happy hour is great and is 2-4-1 cocktails. The service is generally terrible. We have walked out a few times after not being helped after waiting a significant amount of time. I've also had decent service so I'm not sure what the deal is. I get it: a Bonanno Concepts dive bar. It's a good college try. Just doesn't work. The happy hour is creative but ultimately expensive. Food is decent. The real saving grace of this place is the help. They kill it every time we're there. It's weird. This part of town just sucks for bars if you're a commuter and don't want to drive anywhere. Was looking for a late night meal in downtown Denver on a Sunday night and this was one of the only highly rated places open at that time. It was awesome! Went with my hubby and his bro. They both ordered the shaved lamb pita and I had a gyro. The "side" of fries was the size of an entree and were amazing. They were in between thick cut and skinny so not too bready, and not annoying to pick up with your fingers. They had a crispness that was just right and a slight bit of seasoning that added a delightful finish. Oh right...we ordered pitas too. :-) those were great! There were pickles in them. Who would have thought to put pickles in a pita? Not me and now I will be haunted by years of pickleless pitas. :-( Also some of the tzatziki and feta from my gyro fell onto my fries and made them extra special. Mmmmm fries. The ambiance was cool, and there was outdoor seating. We sat inside though. Boys and their football. Oh and there is a pretty sweet deal on Sunday's. $10 for beer, cheeseburger and fries. Casual, comfortable spot to hang out and enjoy a beer or a cocktail and some small snacks if you're hungry. Vesper specializes in cocktails and even has cocktails "on tap", in addition, the menu has a Mediterranean flair which is nice if you're not in the mood for typical heavy, fried bar food. If you enjoy drinking wine, or you're a wine snob, you won't find your niche here. While there is wine - there were only two selections of red on my visit. On the other hand - if you like cocktails that pack a punch, look no further than the Vesper which is made with their own infused vodka. read more

We moved into the neighborhood in February, and I'm so glad this is our new neighborhood bar. The service is good - sometimes great, sometimes just OK. The drinks are good and not too expensive; I love their Paloma on tap. And the food is outstanding and unique. They almost always play music I like, and most of the time it's not too crowded. I often just stop by on my way home from work for a drink and a snack, and hang out a while. It's good place to chill and read the mail, do your taxes, read a book, watch the World Cup, whatever. Food recommendations: bar nuts (roasted chick peas) and funyuns - both homemade. The fries are also good. read more

Stopped in for a late drink on a Friday night with the girlfriend. Very neat atmosphere offering some outdoor seating with a great deal of indoor space. Seating was plentiful inside, but on a nice Friday night the outdoor space was all taken, we found a spot close to the open exterior garage door which was great. There was also a lot of local art up on the walls with a number of really neat works (including some cool stained glass). The bar was quiet enough that you could hold a conversation with a great variety of music playing in the background, something I can appreciate a great deal in a bar. There were some mixed drinks on tap which was a nice twist, the dark and stormy was great while not quite a traditional dark and stormy it was enjoyable. The paloma that my friend had was not as good, clearly made with cheap tequila that was not too tasty, but for $6 it was hard to go wrong. We ordered another drink regardless (some sort of fizz) that was much better, until my clumsy self went and dumped it all over her. Despite, we certainly would have stayed a while and continued to chat and drink if we hadn't bailed for clean dry clothes. (whoops!). An unexpected bonus of the location was the ease at which we got an uber home (0 minute wait!? with several cars in the area). Definitely will return in the near future may even become a regular spot. read more

I've been here a few times now and I love this neighborhood bar. My favorite place to sit is the bar but they also have plenty of restaurant and patio seating. The signature cocktail is the James Bond vesper - get ready for a wild ride as it's made with vodka and gin. They have about 6 house cocktails on tap which are very good. My favorites are: old fashioned, dark and stormy and the Paloma. The silver Bombay fizz is a little on the tart side just FYI. This place makes amazing martinis - manhattan or a dirty gin! I've tried a few food items here: polenta fries, chicken, home made funions, and their dip trio. All very good with great flavor. To keep you entertained they have a ton of board games and a juke box. They usually have art for sale in they dining room. read more

Legit spot for late drinks in Gov's Park neighborhood. I work in the service industry and stop by after work. All the bartenders take good care of me. Surprisingly delicious bar food; including burgers, hummus and fried shrimp. Place is crowded on weekends, but that's because majority of Denver socialites only go out on Friday & Saturday. You're better off stopping by during the middle of the week to eliminate some of the drunk crowd. read more

Lousy service and rude. I used to go to Vesper on a regular basis on Sunday evenings for something to eat and a couple of beers. On 8/12 I had two beers gave the waiter my credit card and the charge came back as $6. I added a generous tip and signed the credit slip. On 8/19 I went there again and when I tried to buy a beer was told, "you walked out on your check and we will not serve you again." When I explained that I had paid it the bartender said " you had two beers," (which of course would have been $12.) I left and went to another bar. Obviously it was the bars mistake but they ended up accusing me of being a thief. If they had admitted their mistake I would have willingly paid for the other beer they forgot to charge me for. read more

I loved the day I discovered the vesper lounge. It's got some of the best burgers, eclectic decor, great specials, and friendly staff. A very solid lounge in the center of Gov Park. A good amount of class to entertain a business happy hour and a good amount of cool to accomodate the casual urbanite. I enjoyed the grilled calamari and baba ganoush paired with a couple left hand milk stouts during a meeting with a new aquaintence. My counterpart was instantly impressed by the atmosphere. Their special cocktails are great and I prepped myself with their signature Vesper. The cocktail tastes mild for how hard it really is. I also liked the cocktails on draft. True customer service is owning up to your mistake and going above and beyond to to make it right. That is what the staff at vesper did last night. Our waitress was super attentive and friendly and the beer was great. When closing out my tab my debit card went missing. The staff looked frantically for my card and could not find it. They offered to write off the bill to make it right. I accepted the offer and while I was on my phone with my bank, my waitress came running saying she found my card. The staff was very apologetic and kind. Even offered me a celebratory shot to make up for the stress! Also the hummus and pita bread is amazing! We will be back for sure! read more

My first time at Vesper Lounge and it was a huge disappointment. Service was horrible. We ordered a burger and it was so over cooked it was black on both sides. Hands down the worst service I've had anywhere. Upon entering we were told to sit anywhere and it was full service everywhere. It wasn't an overly crowded night, seats available, but a decent pace of people. We had a table for 8. When the first 5 arrived we saw our waitress who took our order and then brought it to us. That was the last and only time we saw her. Anytime we wanted another drink we had to go to the bar. When it was time to leave I stood at the bar for 5 minutes before I was even acknowledged (by another waiter) while our waitress was flirting with a customer for additional 5 minutes. We sat at the bar to order happy hour drinks and food, and even with happy hour pricing food and drinks quickly added up. Even though price is little to no concern for me, the amount of food for what you get was a bit disappointing. Don't get me wrong, the food was great, as were the drinks. The atmosphere was also great, no -- like, actually really awesome! We went on an off night so there were less people, but the restaurant was still quite busy. Since I moved into the neighborhood, Vesper is slowly becoming my default bar when I need a late night beverage and would rather not venture out of the neighborhood. It is a great drinking alternative to Govs, Charlie Brown's, and Lala's. The place has a lot of character, good Mediterranean food, cocktails on draft (yes I said draft), and friendly service. Even though Gov's is just across the street and has a hard to beat happy hour, Vesper has its own clever and original take on happy hour specials including the Blood Hound (Utica Club $ Shot of Jim Beam) for $5, the Chupicabra (Corona $ Shot of Espolon) for $6, and my favorite, not just by name, Capitol Hillbilly (any draft & well shot) for $7. We came up here for Geeks Who Drink on a Tuesday night. I have to say I love what they have done with the place. The food menu is fairly decent, great happy hour prices and they have a lot of craft beer on tap. I haven't had anything here to eat except some fries but they were delicious and cooked to perfection. Oh, and did I mention they have Geeks Who Drink on Tuesdays? A great reason to come here. Also, the wait staff is pretty awesome too.. Very friendly and on top of the orders. If I didn't have my own Tuesday night gig starting up here shortly, I'd be here every single week. read more

When Vesper first opened, it was a great place to get a good burger, fries, and cocktail that wasn't too expensive or pretentious. It is was our neighbourhood favourite, so we've been there at least 15 times. It has gotten progressively worse and their quality control has gone way down in addition to the staff getting more and more surly. Whereas their burgers used to be juicy and cooked to temp, they are now cooked to a crisp. Several times they have forgotten part of my order and never seem very apologetic about it. Perhaps it was my expectations that made Vesper such a forgettable experience. The fountain cocktail concept sounded great, but we honestly couldn't tell the difference between the tequila or the gin based drinks once they came out. They weren't mixed properly and everything just tasted like either booze or sugar depending where the straw ended up. I love Mediterranean and this was just a divey representation of it. We were doing fine on pita:hummus ratio until homeboy waiter gave us extra which we didn't eat that he subsequently charged us for. People were smoking cigarettes at the table next to us. This place has probably become my 'go to' chill bar. Tasty and not too expensive cocktails, delicious and not too expensive Greek food and burgers, super rad bartenders... I'm not sure what more I could ask for, besides an all day happy hour (which I do think they do on Sundays), and for it to be on the first floor of my building. It also has a nice vibe, with a dark interior with lots of wood, and a decent sized patio. We also made some good friends here drinking $1 beers on thanksgiving eve. So kudos Bonanno. I wonder if his name means good year in a romance-y language kind of way. That would help me remember it better than Bonobo apes. read more
