When I stopped by on a weekday evening at 9pm it was packed. They had stations setup throughout the store to order different goods, which helped to alleviate the rush. Knafeh ($6) - They offered 2 types of knafeh, one with cheese and one with custard. I went with the one made with Nabulsi cheese and topped with shredded phyllo, and soaked in sugar syrup. It was warm, crispy and delicious! Karak tea ($5) - This milk tea drink was made with aromatic spices, primarily cardamom, cloves, ginger and cloves. I was happy to see they used whole milk instead of evaporated milk. The drink was incredibly rich and creamy and tasted great. Turkish delight ($18 / lb.) - This was extremely fresh, soft and chewy, made with cornstarch, sugar, nuts. Some of the varieties I tried had chocolate and/or fruits. The baklava here was fresh made with layers of phyllo dough, chopped nuts, and held together with some honey. The nut offerings here included, almonds, walnuts, peanuts and a few more. Overall I was impressed with everything they offered here with the exception of the nuts, which I thought were just ok. I'd definitely return if I was in the area.

The Dubai crepe was super rich and creamy and nice large portion size. The strawberry mousse cake was frozen solid, so I was not able to eat it right away but it was a lovely mousse with jelly fruit filling and a thick chocolate crust. Also got a bag of chocolates, which are weighed by the pound. The only qualm I have is that the chocolates are not labeled, so when you mix them all together, it truly is a bit of a Russian roulette on what you'll get. Everything was super yummy. Will definitely need to be back!

The espresso is on par with higher end Italian espresso - rich, thick creama and just a hint of smoke. bitter enough that o dropped 2 sugar packets in. i'm not a fan of this style but i respect it and Summer Moon has done a good jon Americanizing it. the American part i didn't like was no ceramic much at all - not even for my expresso, the extra work required by me to explain 'ristretto' and that their Lamarzocco DOES make ristretto shots. Customer service was excellent. If i liked sweet milk, i'd definitely enjoy a Summer Moon espresso in it. I was impressed with SMC as a business and doing an excellent job at actualizing an ideal of coffee they have. However, being from the rich coffee culture of Pittsburgh i've yet to find my people here in Houston where i'm visiting my parent for the holidays. I accidentally got an amazing pour over and espresso from Blue Door. I still haven't found. anyone who know who Lance Hendrick or James Hoffman. is.. still looking.

The space has decent seating and even a co-op working space if you're looking for somewhere to work. Otherwise there's a good amount of space to hang out. The menu itself has a good variety of options. I do like trying out their seasonal stuff and this was pretty good. I got the tiramisu coffee which comes with a whole lady finger as a topping and is quite aesthetically pleasing. The mouthfeel was smooth and creamy, and it wasn't as sweet as I thought it would be. It was my first visit--I ordered an almond milk cappuccino, an iced banana bread latte, and a chocolate croissant (note: the full kitchen opens an hour after the shop). Both drinks were fantastic--well balanced, and the banana bread latte really tasted like its namesake without being overly sweet. The croissant was average, though I appreciated the smaller size compared to the oversized ones you usually see. The barista was knowledgeable and genuinely engaged with customers, which made the experience stand out. One downside: the Wi-Fi was slow, even when it wasn't busy, so I ended up using my phone hotspot. I'd come back to try the matcha and explore more of the food menu.

It's incredible when you think how these beans are roasted and then shipped halfway across the world in order to make it to your cup. We contacted Alex to set up a time to sample some pourovers. It was great to hear his heart and how he came to be at District. We were grateful for the stories of him partnering to empower roasters from Costa Rica, Salvador, and other places. Every type of roast has a story behind it. Not to mention that he is able to supply us ground beans at a good price. Also impressed with his service and care for us as customers. Please support our local District Roasters! They are amazing.

Given that weve had to give up so much in the coffee drinking experience we try and get what we do consume to taste as fresh as possible so weve turned to getting our decaf beans roasted locally. Weve tried a couple of places in Houston and just recently came across District Coffee. Once we checked their website and made sure it was swiss water processed and not bathed in paint stripper chemicals we decided to give them a try... the head roaster Alex is a humble guy who has a family operated business near the 249/Cypress area. I drove out to the District headquarters to pick up a pound of decaf and Alex gave me a tour around the facility which was modest, but professional. Before i left, Alex asked about the reason for decaf and i explained that we mix it with regular to create a half caff blend and with that he walked over to a bin in the shop and pulled out an additional bag of whole bean half caff blend of their signature roast and said it was "on the house" since i had come all the way out from the Sugar Land area. Wow. Now that was unexpected and also very nice considering gas costs near four bucks these days. We just had a pour over cup of that this morning and it was very, very smooth. If the regular whole bean decaf is anywhere close to the smoothness of this signature half caff roast we will most likely add District coffee to our regular rotation of coffees for our morning routine. Thanks Alex. Good luck to you and your family and we'll spread the word about your brand. Take care.
