I got my hair done today with Veronica and I must say, SHE IS AMAZING! My hair is long and dark and I wanted a subtle ombre. I haven't dyed my hair for about 7 years and was very nervous. But I wanted a new hairstyle and color so I called Veronica to book an appointment with her about a week and a half ahead and she even called me a day before to remind me about the appointment. When I went in, Veronica was so friendly that all my nerves went away. I showed her pictures that I liked and she immediately knew what color I was talking about! The session took about 4 hours so I recommend that you make sure you are free for those hours. However, time does pass by super fast because of Veronica's personality. She is so sweet and energetic. I went in this morning to get my now growing out pixie whipped into shape (I had a baby mullet forming. lol) As always Veronica was awesome! She looked at a photo I brought and added a few suggestions that in the end helped my hair look like it has a fresh new do and not just a growing out mess! I noticed a 1 Star review due to price (she was charged 140$ for a long hair color/cut) I just wanted to say that to me that sounds extremly reasonable! When I had a very short just below my ears bob I went to The Fox & the Hair on Myrtle in Monrovia and for a cut/color I paid about $120 and that was with short hair. Veronica has always had very reasonable prices and she offers a free consultation to go over everything you want and she will quote you a price then based only on your hair, what you want, and the time it will take to acomplish a polished and professional outcome. I will continue to return because she is the best hair person I have ever been to in my entire life. She does my Keratin treatment every 3 months, my hair color monthly, and every Sat I'd come in for a wash n blow dry. All my services I just mentioned should give an idea of how well I take care of myself n of course all those trips are money which I don't mind spending. I will tell u I'm high maintenance, n I have certain people I've been loyal to such as my brows my nails my lashes etc,and up to this point it was Veronica for my hair. I will say she's great at hair, no doubt, but over the past couple yrs especially 2021, she has lacked on customer service n beyond. Since I've known her for all these yrs, she's been extremely open about her personal life and I've always been there for her no matter what time she has reached out to me. This past Sat was my usual hair color appointment. She texts me an hr before my 730am appointment telling me she's sick not feeling well etc...mind u this has been an ongoing thing. I called her, texted her, no response. Hrs later she finally picks up, gives me a story, n reschedules for Sun AM. Sun an hr before my appointment she texts me n yet again cancelled my appointment due to the same reason she feels ill. She yet again rescheduled me for today, Mon n promised me she will be there n won't flake out nor cancel. She said her client will be in at 830AM n can take me after. I asked r u sure this time, she said yes. I said ok, I have an early appointment in Burbank, n will reach out when I'm on my way. I finished my appointment In Burbank n texted Veronica I'm on my way. She never responded. I got to the salon, approached the back entrance n it was locked . I drove to the front entrance n it was locked as well. I called texted Veronica many times, no response. I saw an Asian lady by the name of Julie (does nails at the salon) n she was kind enough to let me in when I knocked. I told her I'm here for Veronica n have an appointment. She said she hadn't seen Veronica. Julie was sweet n even she herself reached out to Veronica n texted her letting her know a client is here waiting for her. Veronica never responded to her. I kept still calling n texting n no response. I had no choice n left with my shampoo n conditioner bottles she had left for me on her station. Very odd right??? So hrs later she finally reached out by text only, I'm sure she's quite embarrassed to actually talk to me. She says the same sob story how she was in, did her client but started getting sick n left. She has no respect whatsoever, I made the trip, wasted gas, had an appointment with her, n she couldn't call me prior to let me know that she had left?????!!!!!! But funny thing is she knew I'd be in n left me my bottles of shampoo n conditioner on the counter. She's a big liar, she's great in telling stories n feeding her clients with BS! We all go through difficult times in our lives, but need to keep work n personal life separate. She's been a hair dresser for yrs, n has a great excessive book of business. Times r tough, n I'm sure it's a lot of hard work to keep ur existing clients n to gain new ones, n her awful behavior of such, she's going to lose a lot of loyal clients. Honestly, ur time is too valuable to be putting up with her ways. I get things happen we have emergencies, but this has been her for quite sometime now. Always canceling always flaking always rescheduling. It's hard for me to honestly write all this. I've had a talk with her, she knows n admits she messed up, she's cried to me over the phone, n promised she was going to take me in today in the AM, n didn't happen. I hope she seeks help, she's quite talented when it comes to hair. I just hope she wakes up n realizes her life isn't going in the right direction. She responded to me at night but usually people don't really answer after a certain time. I gave her 5 stars before in 13 but decided to update this review as I read some of the newer negative comments and feel like they are completely valid now. Let me say that I do love how she does hair. She does good hair. I have been to Veronica about 3 times or so. I found it strange that on one occasion she wrote down on her client information index cards the amount she charges (along with the products she used, but that was obviously understandable. I think the price is weird and totally agree with a previous comment that she does indeed charge with what she feels she can get out of you and does this so she knows how much she can charge you next time.) I always tipped very well BTW and I am not cheap. I remember at my last appointment a couple years back she charged me MORE at that visit for less work. I actually had to go next door to pull out more money as I didn't have enough to cover the upcharge. I thought whatever, no big deal, she does good work so I'll pay it. I called a few months later after my last visit to try and get an ombre with lavender. First, she rudely (YES YOU ARE RUDE! Or perhaps you are tone-deaf to your own rudeness) said "oh I will not remember you so don't even bother trying to remind me. You'll have to come in and get a consult. It will take at minimum 4 visits to get what you want and it will be a lot of money." Or something to that effect. Emphasis on how many visits and how costly it will be. I was taken aback at that tone and decided forget this. I don't care how good she is. There are plenty of people out there just as good or better without that attitude. That was about a year ago and I haven't bothered with her since. read more

*This review is not a reflection of Veronica's work as a stylist as I did not get my hair done by her. I called Veronica to schedule a consultation and found her to be pretty rude. I was explaining my situation and she cut me off saying "Oh. So you want a consultation?" Well obviously, or I wouldn't be calling you. She hurriedly asked me a few questions and told me to come in but call beforehand. I told her I would and then gave her my name so that when I called back she would remember who I was and she SERIOUSLY responded "I'm probably not going to remember you" (and not in the "funny, haha" kind of way). Wait, what??? She just came off totally rude. Word of advice, Veronica--you could have a million great Yelp reviews but if your social skills and phone etiquette are totally inappropriate you're going to miss a lot of people that would gladly pay for your services. If you're going to be rude and snarky on the phone, it might be better for you to just allow it to go to voicemail and you can call back at a time that's more convenient for you. Minus one more star. ~~~ This is a very long overdue review but here goes. I first found Veronica through Weylie from YouTube and was thrilled that Veronica was literally walking distance for me back when she was still in Embellished Salon on First Avenue in Arcadia. At that time in 2013, ombrés were all the rage and so I decided to go for it. I arrived early with my virgin hair and let Veronica work her magic. She's definitely good with hair as you can tell from all the clients' photos but her attitude and personality is a little off-putting (from this first encounter). While she was doing my hair, she kept mentioning how she would do my hair "extra-well" so I could show off... What do you mean?! Shouldn't you always be doing your best for everyone? Anyways I didn't think too much about the comment but then at the end of the session, she kept *encouraging* me to share on social media to promote her and review her on Yelp, which I wasn't so fond of (I'd rather share because I want to and not because I'm told to) but shared on Instagram anyways because I was feeling nice. Well, here is your 3-year late review. The reason for less than perfect stars is because of my second booking experience with her almost a year later. I called her and although she didn't remember me and had to jog her memory a little, she quoted me the same price to touch up the ombré. She then asked how much I was charged last time and I told her $120. Veronica responded with, "$120?! Ohhh no I haven't charged anyone that price in a lonnggggg time. It's going to be $150." Really?! REALLY?! Why would you quote me on "the same price as last time" if you're not going to hold up to it? However, because I was pretty satisfied with her previous work, I went ahead to book it. I was feeling sick the morning of the appointment and had to go to the doctor's so I called Veronica and told her I don't think I could make it. She was friendly when she picked up but as soon as I broke the news, she retorted with, "you need to go to the doctors?!.. How am I supposed to fill your spot now with this little time?! I had to turn down SOOO many people." She then asked my age and proceeded to be little me and make me feel bad because she could have made more money with that time. I have never woken up so early on a Saturday for a hair appointment lol. 6:45 - 10:15 am.. wow.. haha anyway. It's actually pretty impressive that Veronica schedules these hours, it shows how much she loves her job. I'm a fairly typical no-nonsense, no-hassle, no-fuss, no-muss type of guy. I don't like to go to the mall to try on my clothes before I buy them. I buy my groceries based on gut, not price. I drink directly from the milk bottle, and unabashedly scratch myself, even in public with reckless abandon. Needless to say, I was never in the habit of having my own stylist, let alone paying more than $10-15 for a mens haircut. However, it was only in the last year or two that I realized how important it is to find a professional who actually knows what he/she is doing. In fact, many would even argue that styling a man's hair can be trickier than a woman's. But one person who is more than capable when it comes to tackling both is Veronica Miller. I stumbled upon her earlier this year, thanks to Yelp, and no one else has so much as touched my hair since then. I'll usually call to set up an appointment (which she has always been quick to accommodate for because a cutting a man's hair normally shouldn't take longer than 20 min, and she normally can squeeze an appointment in between her female clients), arrive at the salon and never wait more than 5 min, plop down in her chair, tell her what look I'm going for (usually a texturized, short, messy cut), and leave the rest to her. She's an artist armed with a pair of scissors--no need for clippers. Your head is her canvas. I kid you not, Veronica is normally booked to the gills, working sometimes up to 12 hours satisfying a herd of clients. Besides being an outstanding stylist, she is a proud, hardworking mother and does everything she can to provide for her family. Simply put, I've never been happier with how my hair's looked. My lovely girlfriend would also be the first to agree! All in all, whether you're a man or woman, girl or boy, beast or beauty, looking for a great cut/style, I wholeheartedly recommend Veronica. She has more or less pulled herself up by the bootstraps and made a living for her family based on exceptional work. She is one of the greats, and by far a leader in hair in Los Angeles County. I wear my hair in a pony tail or bun 80% of the time. I wanted advice on how to care for my hair and maintain a more professional feminine appearance. I was interested in a blowout or smoothing treatment after moving back to southern California obliterated my hair with dryness and frizziness. When I met Veronica at 7am, she was full of energy and excited for the appointment. I was pretty nervous because despite all my research I had no clue what the hair session would be like. She offered me coffee, and made me feel relaxed. We chatted about all kinds of stuff, and it flowed naturally. She was as real as they come. I avoided salons in the past, not for financial reasons, but because I abhor the snooty attitude and arrogant vibes that come with the ambiance. This was the complete opposite and I couldn't be happier with my experience. No foofy woofy BS here. This is a real person working with incredible diligence and integrity. She took her time to meticulously attend to each part of my appointment. She gave me flat answers to all of my questions. She didnt try to upsell me on a bunch of expensive products and styles. She didnt try to gry me to dye or highlight my virgin hair. She gave me a more than fair price for my services and provided excellent advice on how to care for my new 'do.
