Appreciate Annie for always giving the upmost professional service at her private salon! She has many years of experience and always gives me helpful suggestions to perfectly match my hair color to my complexion. Annie is my go to stylist! Asian hair is the most difficult to work with . It's hard to transition to blonde, takes up to 5-6 hours of dedication to work through each strand and layer of hair. Last time I was blonde with a lot of mixed colors, but Annie helped me color correct and fix my root touch up. She's never in a rush to take care of you and always makes sure you are taken good care of! Love to come back to you again next session! read more

My family and I have been going to Annie for quite some times and we loved the environment of her studio. Very cozy, clean and comfortable space. She's very professional at her job and was able to help fixed my bad hair cut from another stylist. She also uses non chemical on her color treatment products and we're very satisfied after after visits. Thank you Annie. read more

The best hair salon around town. After years of not trusting American hair salons and services being pricey - I have finally found someone who is knowledgeable about Asian hair and Asian hair procedures. Annie gave me a free consultation to talk about my hairs history and health; then recommended which product and system to go with after listening to what I wanted. She's the best! Also prices are all clearly listed and very reasonable for the amount of care and quality of her service and products! During my appointment she didn't mind I was running an hour late; blocked off the entire day to just focus on my hair and offered me coffee and snacks whilst chatting away with me! She's seriously worth every dollar you pay her! Highly recommended and will be returning! read more

I've been going to Annie for over 2 years now. I have never met anyone so patient with my hair. My hair is so fine and hard to work with and my hair has never been so healthy since going to her! Anytime I need anything done she always amazes me and gets it done every single time. Before my wedding this past June I needed a toner and to tone my extensions and she was there for me right away!! She told me to stop by her salon and pick up and told me the directions to do at home to save time and money cause I was in a bind for my wedding day closely approaching. I love Annie and will continue to be going to her for many more years. Highly recommended! read more

I made an appointment based on the recommendations online that Annie was a competent hairstylist able to complete a straightforward request to provide me with a simple haircut... but I was very, very clearly mislead by her supposed abilities. She never once listened to what I asked for and she had apparently already decided on the absolutely awful hair cut I would have to suffer with beforehand, despite me being very specific on what I wanted. A haircut on my freshly washed and air dried hair (so she could see how my natural hair is). I wanted it: 1. Slightly past shoulder length (about 4 inches cut off) - long enough to still tie back in a ponytail 2. Add some layers in the back 3. Leave the front tendrils shorter (chin length) I even showed her a picture of a haircut that was as stated above - a few inches past the shoulder and the hair in front (chin length at shortest, shaped around the face) slightly shorter than the back length. Her immediate reaction once I showed that picture was "Oh, you want a 'bob' haircut!" To which I said very emphatically said "NO." I proceeded to explain again how I didn't want my hair anywhere near that short and reiterated again to her what I wanted since the picture apparently didn't help. The fact that she said the haircut in the picture I showed her was a 'bob' made me extremely concerned that someone who supposedly knows hair (and that I am trusting with my hair) considered a longer than shoulder length haircut a 'bob'. I ended up with the ugliest most unflattering bob you could ever possibly imagine. She took off most of my hair and added 8 years on to my appearance. She initially cut off about an inch more than I expected, then asked if I wanted to donate the hair she just cut (this one is on me, I just assumed she meant donate as in to a charity like my previous hairstylists did) but she didn't mention until after I agreed that it would be a donation to her own personal collection because she "never gets virgin hair to play with". She just kept assuring me she was making it 'even'.. while cutting it shorter and shorter. She took almost 6 inches additionally off my hair off to make it 'even'. I realized after that she cut my hair to the root in multiple mismatched spots in the back, something that fills me with such anger when I think of how long it will take me to grow that back - and it doesn't even look good. She butchered the length - I can't even tie my hair back, it's way too short but long enough that I HAVE to style it immensely just to look semi-passable enough to go out - if I don't end up covering it. All the hair in the back is less than one inch and I have multiple bald spots when you lift up my hair. I asked for a look that gives me confidence - where my hair is shorter in the front to shape my face and long in the back yet I got the exact opposite for a reason still unknown to me. I just don't know why she kept choosing not to listen to me. I was very polite and not rude in asking her if she would be able to cut my hair as I had requested. If she didn't know how, she should have just said so instead of butchering my hair in a failed attempt. "I didn't realize how curly your hair was..." (once she cut it too short and was nearly done butchering it) Or "My clients say their hair looks better 2-3 months after I cut it." ??? - so she didn't look at my natural hair AT ALL when she was running her hands through and complimenting it AND I'm supposed to wait up to 90 days with this terrible haircut and hope that it's grown out enough to hide how terrible it looks??? I hope my hair doesn't look this bad still in 90 days, and if it does... I know who I WILL NOT be asking to fix it. This awful haircut has honestly ruined my self-confidence. My niece can no longer braid my hair. My husband hates the way it looks, my friends and family have all said multiple times how unflattering it looks, and I get comments at work constantly - none of them have been positive. I've been covering up my hair a lot as a result. It gets so itchy when sleeping at night from all the spiky spots on my scalp where she cut my hair very short randomly. I keep hoping it was all a nightmare and forget that it will take years for me to grow my hair out to where I originally asked for it cut to. I hesitated leaving this review... because I should have payed attention to the clear signs that she didn't know how to cut hair properly. I simply don't want anyone else to go through this kind of experience after how negatively it has effected me. I can't get my beautiful hair back... but I can warn others the way I wish I would have been warned. read more

I'm a long-time customer and fan of Annie's because when I go in for a cut and/or dye, I can trust that it will look good. I get bored with my hair every so often, but I'm also generally conservative with my changes because I get nervous about trying anything too different. Annie is great at handling my concerns though. She will take into account what you're comfortable with and then make suggestions about what she thinks will look good on you and what changes you could try. For example, when I told her I wanted to get bright colored streaks in my hair but needed to keep it subtle enough for work, Annie helped me work around that. She did highlights instead that were placed in such a way that I could have bright pink dye without it being too distracting. I was also worried about my hair getting damaged from the process, but Annie uses good products and always tells you what she is using and how you should take care of your hair. So even though I've been dying my hair for a while now, it still looks and feels healthy. Annie also knows I prefer to be as low maintenance about my hair as possible. So she gives me cuts that flatter me but are also easy to take care of. I leave every time with tips on how to take care of and style my new cut. But probably the best thing about going to Annie is that her cuts last - as in, they grow out nicely. I never feel like I'm in that "awkward hair" stage when my cut is growing out. Even my dye jobs have grown out okay. The color fades, but the color it fades out to still looks okay and I don't feel the need to immediately have it touched up or re-dyed. All in all, she gets a big recommendation from me. I've already recommended her to all of my friends! read more

Annie's Hair Studio - So nice. - Hair Stylists Near Me - Monrovia, California

I've been coming to see Annie for years now. When she switched salons, I knew I just had to go with her! It's hard to find someone you completely trust with your hair and being as picky as I am, I didn't think it was possible. However, Annie is someone I know will do an amazing job. Annie is a wonderful and skilled hair stylist. She always takes into consideration what you want and when you have absolutely no idea, she has great ideas as to what look would work for you. I'm the type of person who gets bored with my hair and Annie knows how to change it up every time I come in. She really cares about her customers and always takes time to get the cut just right. There are times I feel like I am done and she makes me wait just a little longer because certain strands are too long or something is just a little off. These are things I don't even notice but I'm glad Annie is such a perfectionist because I know she's looking out for me. Before I end my review cause it is getting a little on the long side, if any of you are ever thinking about getting your hair colored, Annie is definitely the go to person. I've wanted to get my portions of my hair colored for awhile (and I mean color as in bright reds, purples, magentas, etc.) and I knew Annie was the one to do it. Walking in and meeting her for the first time, you can see the beautiful colors she has in her own hair. The colors are always so vibrant and her hair always looks great. I've had friends who have had horrible color jobs before but I knew that if I just went straight to Annie, I'd have great color. Ever since I got my hair dyed, I haven't stopped and I always get compliments on the dye job. Seriously, go see Annie! She's great! read more

I've been coming here for some time and I continue to enjoy each time I've gotten my hair cut by Annie. She knows how to make your stay comfortable and listens to all your hair requests. Without a doubt, I've never been disappointed by her service. Every time I come to the hair salon, she's the only one I'll allow to cut my hair. I'm very particular with my hair and at times, picky. She fulfills all my requests and even suggests better options sometimes. Her cherry attitude adds to the experience. She cuts hair but also is skilled in hair styling and hair curling. That's another bonus. So, if you're ever in TC and need something done with your hair, she's the person to ask for! read more

I needed a quick shampoo and style today. Called her last minute and she was able to see me within 15 mins. She informed me over the phone she had a client before me. I arrived and her client was still there. I only waited for a few minutes. But she apologized for making me wait. Offered me something to drink/read. She started to wash my hair and we started chatting. We talked about this and that. She suggested I use a different shampoos but never pressured me to buy it. I am the worst and curling my hair. She gave me tips and suggestions. Before you know it, voila. Finished. I will definitely be going back. She's very friendly and sweet. Oh and her prices are reasonable too. read more

I found Annie from my friend's recommendation and I've been coming back since! I was nervous at first since most stylist tend to cut your hair shorter than what you want, or do a style they think is better without giving you a heads up. Not Annie, she comes up with a game plan with you! Every time I come see her, she's ready for the new hairstyle I'm interested in. Hair maintenance can be an absolute pain when you have long hair so I'm always looking for styles that look great but don't need much time to fix up. It's also terrifying when you have someone new cut your hair because you never know what you'll really get at the end. Luckily I found Annie. I've been here a couple times and I have to say each time I've been completely satisfied with her service. I honestly haven't had to go back for another cut for a good 6 months. Annie is honest and provides you suggestions that best fit your style. Today I went in for a new cut wanting something different yet still professional for the work place. The end result was getting light brown and blonde streaks under my natural dark brown hair; some layering; and side bangs. It looks awesome and can't wait to show it off! read more

Ok. This is my 1st yelp review ever. I have been going to Annie since 2009. Since I moved here in SGV in 2008 I have been in search of a great hair salon who can maintain the specific layer/cut of my hair. I wanted somewhere near my house so I don't need to drive to West Hollywood area anymore. Annie met all the specifications that I wanted for my hair. The hair treatment that she is doing keeps hair healthy, thick and with nice volume (which I loved the most). Not only that, the base color and highlight is fantastic! I highly recommend Annie Hair Design! read more

I love to go to Annie to cut and color my hair, she only uses quality products (Purology, alterna, Inoa, etc) and you get the best from them, it is totally worth it. Annie knows what she is doing and she is very up to date with latest techniques. I always have a great time when I go to have my hair done. She has always taken the time to explain to me what products she is using and what would be the best for my type of hair. My problem is the fizziness in my hair and she has helped me find the products that work for me. Of course I wish I can go more often. as I wrote it is worth it. read more

First time at salon. Talked to Annie and told her that I wanted a Carmel brown color. She showed me a picture of just the color I wanted and I felt excited that I would get the right color but after the color was done I was disappointed to see that it was much much much darker than promise. When I told her about it she said that with time the color would fade. Well, I think everyone that color their hair knows that. That statement did not help. She told to go home and give it a few days. Same promise as all the other hair stylist that don't know much about color. How very disappointed. Still searching for a good hair colonists. read more
