I live downtown and he's in Chili but the peace of mind I get by having my auto repairs done there is worth it. Not only is he honest with you and up front about everything- from keeping repairs timely and estimates accurate, but after my car has been up on the lift for a certain job, Vern can tell me what I'm going to need to fix two months, 6 months, etc. down the road. Someone who won't tell you you need a new canootin valve when you take your car in to get the oil changed. That's why I go to Vern. I used to go to another shop that Vern worked at, but now he's doing his own thing out in Chili, in the K-Mart plaza. I recently took my car to get it inspected and I was in and out in no time. The place has 5 or 6 lifts, so, most of the time, you can get an appointment that's convenient to your schedule. I think most mechanics charge around the same for labor ($75-ish/hour), so it's comparable to most other places. It's the trust that matters to me. I brought my vehicle to them from January up until about April or May this year and they claimed they couldn't find the problem. They just threw parts at it and never really addressed the real issues. For months I was without a working vehicle and spent my entire savings on it to fix it. The second to last time I brought it there they supposedly fixed the issue, but no. Two days later it broke down on me on the highway. I went to have it repaired AGAIN for like the 4th or 5th time in a row and still it was not fixed. I gave up and took it to another shop. The mechanic there was able to diagnose all my issues with the vehicle within just a day! Nothing had been done to fix my vehicle and none of that was brought to my attention. I had to take the vehicle off the road bc I can no longer afford to fix it. This garage is TRASH and they just throw parts at your vehicle. They never actually fix it. BEWAREthey just take advantage of you bc they think you don't know anything :( Will never ever use this garage again and I must advise that you don't either unless you know a lot about vehicles and have the money to throw away! read more

OMG! I brought my truck in and the owner Vern Palmer told me that I needed a new heater core. He charged me $750 but said that I could pay cash and he wouldn't have to claim it. The problem was that he gave me no receipt with my cash payment and when the antifreeze continued to smoke and make me and my 4 yr old sick, he then said I needed a radiator, another $600 (I believe that's the correct amount). Again he wanted cash. Can u believe it, the problem was now solved except he broke the A/C unit and wanted to charge me to replace it. UNBELIEVABLE. Also he said there was a short in my ignition. Another $200 and yes in cash. That wasn't the problem at all. I finally took the truck to another well respected mechanic who informed me that there was no need for a heater core or ignition switch. Because Vern didn't fix the problem the first time the antifreeze leaked into the wiring and it cost me $300 to get all new wiring. It should have been much much more but the man had pity on me after what he knew Vern had done to me already. GOOD LUCK with Vern's Auto Repair!!!!
