First time giving 5 stars to a restaurant and they deserve it. With excellent quality fresh and tasty dishes, excellent service they deserve it. I live in Columbus but make a point of stopping here when in town for work. Worth driving out of your way. Can't miss with soups and entrees. read more

Went to dinner Friday at Vernon's for first time, sat at the bar. Love Love Love this place! Food was amazing! Sonya at the bar was fabulous! Great recommendations, friendly! Great service! I think we have found our hang out place, after a long search after moving up from TEXAS!!! Highly recommend!!! read more

Stopped in Vernon's & 1 of their specials of the day was Two Lobster tails over Risotto. Was fabulous read more

Vernon's Cafe - reasonably priced lobster tails at Vernon's, that were cooked perfectly‼Were served over Rizzuto just as delicious. - Italian Near Me - Niles, Ohio

Delicious Italian food! Great seafood options also. We had mussels and octopus as an appetizer- highly recommend. Their marinara sauce is amazing. For dessert salted caramel gelato is some of the best read more

Food was good except for chicken parm, it was like a thin breast you would get at giant eagle. I should have asked if they bread it them selfs. Seemed a little bit pricey compared to other places. read more

Vernon's has an incredible steak and shrimp combo, good pasta, salads, etc I have never had anything there that has been bad

They've done some updating inside since we were in last, and it truly looks phenomenal. We had a couple of appetizers and a pair of pasta meals. All of the items were very good, and the bread is amazing. This is more of a 4.5 honestly. I wish I could remember our server's name to give her a shoutout because she was excellent. She was upbeat, attentive without being overbearing, engaged, she pre-bussed finished items to maintain space on the table. Just an all out star. We will happily return! read more

Very nice and fancy! Food was excellent and had great service! We came here for a birthday dinner and they had a huge sparkler in the cake I thought that was very nice and kind of them to do that. read more

This is the most over priced Italian food in the area. Portions are so small -half the menu lacks flavor- your better off going to Olive Garden or take the drive to Boardman and eat at Nicolinnis or Cafe Capri!! Don't waste your $$ read more

Being Italian and from the Youngstown/Warren area isn't very original, but let me tell you, Vernon's is. If you go a little earlier than dinner hour, you're able to be seated almost immediately. I love taking my friends there who aren't from the area, and we always go for family celebrations. They possibly have the best food in the area, and it is not badly priced at all. I recommend the Chicken Marsala for a meal and the Greens for an appetizer. Seriously, go, you won't regret a dish there! The only negative to this place is that the seating area is so small and quaint! But the food is definitely the number 1 there! read more

What to say, excellent atmosphere, great place. Super service. Food was the BEST filet mignon I have had. Shrimp was good, portion size was slightly above average. Overall, a great niight, a great time, and the place added to the experience. I highly recommend this place for the above casual yet not too stuffy dinner. Only negative I had was the relatively long wait despite reservations. There was obviously NO reason to believe a reservation did anything other than eventually get you seated. Still, excellent food and super supporting staff made the grade! read more

Great place - service was impeccable. We had seafood linguine that was out of this world good, and angel hair with shrimp that wad wonderful. Our server was top- notch. A wonderful dinner! read more

Vernon's cafa is hands down the best restaurant I have been to in Ohio hands down. They have a tuna steak and pistachio cake that will change your life. Everytime i go there i am in complete amazement. The staff is great, the wine guy really knows his stuff. If your in the area your a fool for not stopping in. I promise it will be one of your favorite places to eat by the end of the night guarantee. read more

We attended an event here on a recent Saturday evening for about 150 people. The food was amazingly good and served hot and fresh. The staff was friendly and worked very hard to make our special evening memorable. This appears to be a popular spot with local residents and a welcome relief from chain restaurants located around a large shopping mall just down the street. read more

Ordered linguini and clam sauce, got spaghetti and clam sauce. Cost was not comparable to spaghetti.

Hostess was extremely rude , decided to school me on how grub hub works .. I never asked . Steaks not seasoned , basically all the food was extremely underwhelming for the price tag . Your better off going to a commercial steakhouse . read more

I had an enjoyable dinner here. I had one of their daily specials, Chicken Relleno. This was a stuffed rolled chicken breast, cooked with a sauce, and covered with mushrooms and italian greens. The stuffing was prosciutto and provolone. Their portions are generous; my meal included two chicken breasts, and I took one home. Others in my party also took home parts of their dinner. We had the leftovers for another dinner. We also enjoyed the bruschetta appetizer. It had melted cheese on toasted bread topped with chopped tomato bruschetta, garlic, and olive oil. The restaurant was busy. There were several larger groups of 8 to 15 people. We had reservations and were seated immediately ahead of some others waiting for tables. The waiter was efficient but a little brash. I would gladly return to Vernon's. read more

Thank you to Vernon and his staff for hosting a mercy luncheon for my Mother. The food was fantastic, the service impeccable and we could never have asked for anything better. They took care of every detail. I can't thank you enough for all you did to honor my Mother and our family. read more

I can't say enough about what a positive experience this is, every time I go! So many good things on the menu for appetizers but I love the calamari and peppers in oil especially. The ambiance is old world Italian and I get such a great feeling when I go to relax. Try some wine, and relax and have a great dinner. Don't rush the dinner, enjoy your experience and you will want to go back again and again to try different food! read more

Excellent food, drinks and dessert! My only criticism would be that some parts of the restaurant seem too open and would be better suited with more sectioned off booths and dividers to create a more "intimate " atmosphere. read more

Ok we have been here twice in last 10 days. Flavors are great! Priced comparatively. Service very good! We will come again. read more

In my humble opinion this the best food in the area. My wife and I love it there. The crispy calamari is one of our favorites we get it every time. Their red sauce is great it's the closest I've ever tasted to my Italian grandmothers homemade sauce. I've been there several times and every time I am 100% satisfied with my experience. One thing is for sure when I go out to eat I hate feeling disappointed afterwards I never have to worry about that at Vernons. Five star all the way! read more

A great place for dinner, drinks, or happy hour. Italian food is excellent as are their steaks. Service staff is the best. The owners are usually in the house and are very approachable. read more

Overpriced for the size of the portions for lunch. Meatballs were mushy. I had a salad with 3 rubbery little scallops that weren't even hot. The white balsamic dressing was very good however, and the bread was very good too. read more

Highly overrated. The food is crazy expensive. I just can't justify spending that amount on food that you can get just about anywhere else. Service was just O.K. I asked for a straw and the waitress gave me an attitude saying that they don't usually give out straws, I looked around and every other guest in the restaurant had a straw... Probably won't be back. The best part was the house salad dressing! read more

The food is okay. Have been there on many occasions due to friends who like this place and it is convenient to their home. I find the atmosphere less than ideal. I sometimes get the impression the owner doesn't care about the average person who comes in and the wait staff reflects that. We have never had the owner or manager come by and ask how are meal is or is there anything they could do to make it better. It is an average restaurant. read more

I've had good meals at Vernon's. Last night was not one of them. But the wine steward was excellent and the wine cellar is killer. What's strange about a place like this is that they have cloth napkins, Caymus in the cellar but bring your dressing in a plastic container. And our waitress rushed us because we were "her last table". read more

Awesome Food. If you want real italian(pass on the Bravo's/Olive Garden chain junk). This is the real stuff. read more

I came here with my Mom and Grandma while I was in town for the weekend. I got shrimp scampi and it was perfect. They have gluten-free options and nice sized portions. I will be back soon. read more

AWFUL!!! I have never seen a restaurant that is so inept at handling Friday night reservations. I show up at the time of my reservation and I am told that irregardless of my reservation that I would still have to wait. However, I was understanding of not being seated immediately. As I stood at the entrance, I spoke to several different couples who were also waiting. One couple had arrived before me but had no reservations, two other couples mentioned that they had called while driving to the restaurant to get their names on the list. One other couple came in after me and had no reservations and didn't call in advance. My date and I stood there for over 35 minutes while they seated every person that was in the lobby. What made matters even more ridiculous was that instead of allowing people who were standing in front of the doors to sit at the bar and order drinks, they had about 10 seats that had cards saying those seats were reserved. When we were the last couple in the lobby they had the nerve to tell us that once a table came available we would be next. I asked why would I bother making reservations hours earlier if they are just going to randomly choose who they want to seat. The response was that they are busy on Friday nights. I had enough of the rude treatment and decided to take my business elsewhere. I will never return to this restaurant, I would rather go hungry. Don't make reservations at this restaurant, they are a joke. They are completely ignorant. read more

Went here last night. I normally love their food. I got the pappardelle pasta with lobster scallops n shrimp. ....sauce was watery n bland plus lobster was gummy n only got two scallops and two shrimp....not worth 25 bucks... Would have sent it back but with large group I didn't want to make a scene.... Not driving to niles again for a long time:( read more

Our work had a retirement party for a co-worker, which included around 25 people. We brought a cake in and was charged 1.50$ per person to serve. The manager was loud and unprofessional while dealing with us... We were told we would be in a separate room, which did not happen. This party was planned over several weeks and nothing was mentioned about the added charge,or how many we needed for the special room. Portions were small and overpriced. We will not be going there for any more events. read more

Last night my family and I had dinner here, in general, the food was good. I had walleye over a asparagus risotto, this was a good dish, but could be better, a little less cream wouldn't make it as sweet, and less salt. My wife ate chicken Parm. She always orders it here, she enjoyed it, but said the sauce had changed, and was better after adding graded cheese, and pepper flakes. Our kids had spaghetti, and grilled cheese. They both are as much as they could. Of course they had ice cream, I had a blood orange sorbet which was delicious! Good here is always really good, but not always a home run! read more

Great food a little tight for fine dining prices but quick service and plenty of familiar faces.....peppers are great and the sauce is unbeatable read more

I stopped in for lunch with some family. The service was sparse but our waitress hustled and didn't miss a beat. the food was very good. Italian bread was enormous! A great spot to duck in to eat. read more

Vernon's is always excellent. Their Chicken Parm is fantastic; the best. The only other place I've hard it as good as Vernon's is New York where there are a lot of Italians. This is real food not Corporate BS. I've been here about 75 times and will continue to eat here until they close, sell, or I die. Its really good food. read more

Wonderful Italian resturant. Many of the locals eat here and the food 99% of the time is fantastic. I rate this as one of the best places to eat in the Mahoning Valley. I would also like to recommend their cheese ravioli, it is home made and the best I have ever eaten. You won't be disappointed here. read more
