Nothing mind-blowing or out of the ordinary, but sometimes that's exactly what you want: a solid, reliable pizza that hits the spot without any fuss. Franky's isn't trying to reinvent pizza, and that's fine by me. The crust had a nice balance between chewy and crisp, the sauce had a decent flavor, and the toppings were generous enough. Verdict? For me, it's a comparison thingie. I'm an old Subway fan and though a "non toasted sub" would be a non-starter, but nope. The Club Sub was excellent (I'd say better meat than Subway, on a par with my other go-to, Jimmy John's). The Famous Philly? Killer. The roast beef/steak was a cut above Subway's, which admittedly has always had that weird, processed texture IMO. Where the toe got stubbed? The tuna sub was a thumbs down, the wife had to eat it like a "deconstructed sandwich" it was so wet and sloppy. Dunno. Just wet, sloppy, and fell apart. She wasn't thrilled. So if tuna's your game, be advised. I think mebbe its cuz they add dressing in addition to the mayo in the sub already? So, two out of the three items I ordered were "5 plusses" And as I always say, bottom line barometer is "would I/will I go back? You betchya, and soon.
