So cool that they are opening up TWO new locations in Boardman & Kinsman to spread the pizza goodness!! The Detroit Hot Honey Roni is my favorite. This was my first time having Detroit style pizza and it makes me feel like I don't have to travel to truly experience it. The baked cheesy goodness of a crust is phenomenal. Flavors? Out of this world. Cupping pepperoni is simply the best, their sauce doesn't give me heartburn and considering I try to stay away from red sauce that says a lot! OHHHH but their basil is always so fresh and flavorful. I think I could eat a bowl of it! The Detroit Chicken Bacon Ranch is also delicious. Best CBR pizza and I've had a lot of em. No words! The Detroit 8 Mile, same thing. Raving about it! I was thoroughly pleased that you literally get slices of garlic clove on top. The hot peppers ain't too hot & it's just GOOD! Period. I saw we are getting a Red Plum in Boardman , curiosity got the better of Me. I decided to go to the Warren location rather then wait til our location opens Nov 1st. Restaurant is Beautiful, staff very friendly and tons of parking. One of my dearest friends went with me. They have a great stocked bar and nice outdoor seating for those that prefer that. We started with the Oven Baked Meatballs, plentiful with a nice amount of fresh ricotta, it also came with a huge roll with fresh garlic and spices on it. The Meatballs were delicious. We tried the Plum Salad...the flavors were amazing the Feta was soft and creamy and the dressing was unlike any I have ever had. Best Salad. Small size enough to share. We tried a few Pizzas...took 90% home. First up New York White ...I added Ricotta to it. It was cooked to perfection and full of flavor. Second up was Detroit style The Butcher...My friend said it was really yummy, with a great amount of Sausage Meatballs and Bacon. This is the Ultimate choice when those ingredients are your Joy. We got smaller size with 4 huge square pieces. The under carriage of this pizza was pure perfection. Third up was New York Style Pesto, Vodka Sauce and Red Sauce with the perfect blend of Mozzarella, We chose to have them not add the pepperoni. This pizza delivers every flavor imaginable. I'm going to ask them if they can recreate on Detroit crust which is my new favorite. This pizza was tied for my favorite.... Fourth and final the tie for first place pizza.. Detroit Style Greektown ... Between the fresh spinach and the creamy Feta add olives hot peppers and light Mozzarella this pizza was Epic. The under carriage was perfect. The pizza delivered crunch after crunch bite after bite. It doesn't really get better than this. Our waitress was wonderful. We had her bring each pizza out in its box as we really only shared one square of each pizza. I am New York Born and live in Ohio. Truly here There are very few pizza establishments that truly bring it. Red Plum 100% delivers. Quality, Taste and price. Excited they will be in My neighborhood when the new location opens. Basic thing is this - the pizza is solid WHEN it's done right...last few times its been over cooked more and more, and tonight? Almost charbroiled and inedible. Well this one hurts! Be coming to Red Plum for a few months now and my wife and I thought this was the best pizza in the area... Well that changed today, we've been noticing that the quality and consistency have taken a dive for the worst. We always ask for well done and they haven't been able to provide us with our request. Disclaimer this was a door dash review. Honestly, this restaurant should be ashamed of the product they put out at the price they do. I've never had anything as disgusting as their motor city deep dish or flavorless as their New York white. The best part of this meal was the boy salads, which were nearly 11 dollars for two. The pizza sauce on the red (motorcity) tasted spoiled, and all the toppings were burnt to a disgusting taste or a crisp. A 4-piece pie which was less than 6 in x 6 in, cost me nearly 16.00. It didn't have the ricotta scoop advertised on th website on any of the four pieces of pizza. I ended up feeding this to my dogs The white New York was 18.94 for the medium (which at arrival was more of a personal pan size) with five extra charged dipping sauces on the side. It was covered in cheese with no sauce or even olive oil. The bottom was burnt, and the crust that met the cheese was nearly raw and doughy. The peppers had no kick or flavor and were a mushy consistency. They had no crispiness to the bite like a pickle would, which is what I am used to with hot pepper pizza. I rarely say this about restaurants as I think everyone has good and bad days, but this is an establishment I will not return to, as 80.00 for a meal I couldn't eat isn't worth a second chance. They got an extra star from 1 to 2 because they remembered to include all my extra sauces, which generally the restaurant always forgets when using door dash. read more

For weeks I've been seeing mentions of this restaurant all over social media and swore to myself that I need to get there ASAP and I finally did yesterday! I viewed the menu beforehand so I knew what I wanted when I called to place my togo order. The young gentleman that answered the phone was very well-spoken, knowledgeable and friendly. He quoted me my wait time and I headed to the location to wait and pick it up. I arrived a little earlier than my quoted wait time, so I sat in the car for a little before heading in. Once inside, I checked in at the front counter and paid for my purchase. My order still wasn't ready for another 15 minutes or so, which was past the quoted wait time, but this was no issue for me as they were obviously actively working to fill numerous orders for guests dining in, carrying out and via DoorDash. A young lady brought my order out and thanked me for stopping in. Once back to my car, I couldn't wait to open the pizza box and give my first slice from RP a taste. Before I could, I noticed that half of my pizza was missing a swirl of ricotta, and it wasn't as hot as I felt it should have been, so I headed back inside. I didn't mention the temperature to the staff but I did the missing ricotta that I had paid for and was listed on the kitchen ticket I was given. The same female employee that handed me my order originally said she'd fix it herself right away, and she did. Despite the temperature of the pizza, it still looked amazing and I finally tasted it and was not disappointed at all with the flavor! The Detroit crust was absolutely amazing. There is nothing better than caramelized cheese and boy was I in heaven! I live in Boardman and definitely have my favorites there but I would drive here to order this type of pizza again for sure. I also took advantage of the $9.99 pasta special and ordered the Sicilian Alla Vodka and was pleased with the generous portion size, temperature taste and appearance of it. My added side salad was missing the dressing, but I didn't notice this until I got back home. Even with the minor issues with my order, I would not hesitate to come back here. I have several friends and coworkers that were awaiting my review who say they will definitely give it a go now. I will see you guys again soon for sure! read more

Hidden Gem. The name says it all. Pizza and pasta is all they do, but they do it well ! We had the pasta tonight. Their attention to detail shown brightly. Each ingredient was cook perfectly. And when combined to the dish it was enjoyable to all our senses. Service was beyond acceptable. Staff was attentive, cheerful and knew when they were needed. I must say, I am pleasantly surprised. Who doesn't love a night out at a classic sit down? That's a whole nother thing. Pass the peppers and oil, please, Nana. Everyone else? Problem. Red Plum is a gem. I live in 224 Land so it seems the acme of foolishness to drive up to Howland for pizza. But I saw the unique menu and we headed northward. Red Plum is another of the ubiquitous hole in the wall shopping center Italian eateries. It has a few tables and a bar as well as a carry out counter. Humble but tastefully decked out like a Robert Irvine remodel not done by Lynn. Lynn can turn a bowling ally diner counter into Spago in 2 days. But I digress. Red Plum in nice but plain. It's not stuck in the 20th Century. Started with salads. They were of the quality of one of the sit downs listed above. Gourmet house made dressing. Mixed greens. Bougie tomatoes. Not iceberg, tomato wedge, packet. $25 dinner quality for $6. While the entrees look good, the pizza is the specialty. Instead of another family recipe from the boot, they offer US regional specialty pizzas in the style of Detroit, NY, and New Haven. We had the Detroit and they will make half & half for less carnivorous spouses. It was nothing short of spectacular. If you're never had DDD it's like eating a cheesy Sicilian style pillow. It just hits different. Cannot wait to go back & try the New Haven. Their "thing" is their ovens. They have a dedicated oven for each style perfectly calibrated. Not a conveyor belt in sight. Fresh ingredients as well. Not greasy. Quality ingredients, a vision for the fare paired with skillful preparation, and great service. Simple but not easy. The wait staff is refreshing. So excited to be part of something and so proud. They are anticipatory, help each other, and authentically friendly without being annoying. If you've grown apart from your favorite neighborhood Boomer Italian casual sit down and you're looking for something better and fresh, make the trip. Gas is cheap now. If you're a Boomer family casual Italian restaurant and you want to see 2022, you should probably secret shopper Red Plum yourselves and step your game up, capisce? In closing two thoughts.... why not add Ohio Valley style (Steubenville DiCarlo's) to the menu? And how about a second Red Plum on 224 to go compete in the epicenter?
