The customer service in store , was very inconsiderate. I talked to Verizon customer service on the phone and they said any payment method was available to use including check for activation . The person in store seemed to not want us there and said, we only take check for bill payments. Your national customer service saved you a customer of 20 plus years . If the customer service instore does not improve and being treated like we don't matter it will not help. When the employees don't care. Last I checked for any business the customer comes first. After quitting their lousy internet service, they decide to bill me for no reason a month after paying in full. They did this to me 6 years ago and now I'm in collections. Several months ago, unfortunately my flip phone fell out of my pocket and was hit by the lawn mower. This started the fall of my faith in Verizon and a personal nightmare. Before this series of events I thought Verizon and and this store was great. I went to the Wanamaker Topeka store and bought a flip phone that I was assured would link to my tablet, had a special deal with it I left going yeah that was easy. Then I was getting about half my messages between them. Spent hours with tech support, no answers why. Went back to the store. I was told nothing they could do to help me and would not take the phone back, company policy. They assured me If bought a new smart phone and tablet my problem would be solved and they have a great sale. A 700 phone for 400 and 150 off the tablet I thought great. I was told don't freak out about the 300 off it will show up for a couple months then we will take it off. A couple of days later same problem, back to the store. Again nothing we can do at this point you purchased the phone and tablet. Let's see if we can find the problem, so after an hour or so they determine the Message Plus app is having problems from the online reviews. Ok I spent roughly 1,000 to solve a problem with a Verizon app. I needed none of the equipment, but I liked the tablet and liked the phone. I am not liking what happened but the result luckily is ok. We decide to pay off the phones. Girlfriend pays off the phones, I get home and said this is not correct we paid 300 plus to much. Back to the store very frustrated. I was told that the savings was a store credit and when we paid it off we lost the credit. I asked did you tell her she would lose the credit. Response we assume you know what you are doing. I said reverse the payment, response can't it is already done. I can afford the loss but the events leave me very frustrated. Lesson, I am sure legally their responses are accurate. Lesson learned, Don't trust what is said. Read the papers closely including any fine print before signing. I use the store for convenience and knowledge. If I am responsible for understanding the contract and the equipment myself and truthfully I was short cutting my responsibility by trusting the store, then I don't need the store. Came in to switch from Sprint to Verizon. Amazing service at the 19th and Wanamaker location! Teresa was so patient and understanding while we switched over and started my new account. She deserves a raise. Her customer service was outstanding and helped me and my SO figure out everything we had to do to start our new phone service. read more

I've been a Verizon customer for a long time and have had to deal with these guys a number of times. This review is going to be based off of my last experience. I came in and got an iPhone 6 the day it came out. The guy was nice and sold me the phone and all that. He then recommended that I change from my grandfathered unlimited data plan to a new one because it would save money based off my data usage. So I did that. Next day, I watched like 15mins of a football game and received a notification that I used 15% of my monthly data. I watch videos all the time on my phone, so I didn't like this. I went back in and said I needed to change my plan back. To do this, a manager told me I needed to return the phone and they'd sell me a new one. Therefore, I had to go home again and get the box and everything for the phone. I got back to the store again and the person who helped me told me none of that was true and that they could change the plan back without returning the phone and selling me a new one. Also, they didn't have ANY iPhone 6s in stock any longer. So the manager lied to me about what was needed to return it, plus they didn't have any more phones in stock to sell me a new one like he said was needed. So, if you can, avoid this store!! The managers lie to try to keep you from fixing a mistake that their employee made with your data plan. For this entire situation, I spent about five hours in the store!! 2 hours to buy it, then 2 1/2-3 hours for going in and waiting to fix the issue, getting sent home to get my box, coming back and waiting in line again, then having them finally getting it fixed. Totally pitiful. This is the total opposite of how to run a good business. If Verizon reads any of these and cares about the terrible way this manager treated a long time customer, they should straight up fire him. Ok, I'm done with my rant. We went in for Black Friday sales. Chris S., Store Manager, waited on us. We asked for the Black Friday special on IPhone X. He was in such a hurry to get us out of there. He set my account with IPhone XS which had no specials for us. I inquired several times on the pricing and he just said it would be adjusted later after we activated our phone. Went home with instructions on how to transfer phones but no instructions on activating. I called later in day to speak with Chris on if we received correct phones and he would not take our calls. He did return my call but I was unavailable but he left no message. Went in following day and he would not even speak with us. He had us talk to Assistant Manager. They did give us the Black Friday deal on Xs. Chris never came out of back room to talk to us or apologize. Very, very rude for a manager of the store. I will not go back to store. My recommendation is go online because they are a lot more helpful. Chris is a very poor manager. read more

I become frustrated almost every time I walk through the door. For reasons I do not understand there is always a crowd of people waiting for service while there seem to be multiple employees not assisting said customers. In order to be put "in line" for assistance you must track down the mysterious guy with the iPad who can put you on the "List." More than once the iPad guy (for lack of a better term) has put someone on the list before me that arrived after I did. Once you're on the list, you often must wait 30-40 minutes to be assisted. Once I literally, needed to return an unused/still in box item and still had to queued the same way. (I'm waiting 40 minutes to return something you convinced me I needed and actually didn't!!?!?!) Additionally, (as I briefly mentioned above) they often up-sell accessories that are not relevant. My mother is relatively new to the iPhone and what additional items she needs with it. Someone at this store convinced her that an android fitness armband and a wireless Bluetooth headphone device would be a perfect substitute to an iPhone specific armband. I purposely did not ask how much they tried to take her for (because it would only further upset me), but in what logical situation would you knowingly sell accessories for the wrong device type?! As soon as I learned about this I made her return these items that were sold to her predatorily. We purchased an armband at Target that was meant for the iPhone and hope that we don not have to return to this store anytime soon. Save the frustration and go to the Apple store Kansas City!! read more

Would have been nice to know about the extra fees before I decided to buy the phone also. We have visited this store about a million times over the past 9 years of Verizon service and never had a problem, but that changed a few weeks ago. The contract was up on my daughters line and we went in so she could take that phone number and open up her own Verizon account. The customer service rep named Tyrone "helped" us and I use the term help loosely. He was totally uninterested. He was looking at his own cell phone the ENTIRE time we were there and was even texting or doing something on his personal phone. He quoted my daughter one price for a phone and when she tried to pay, it was double and he just shrugged his shoulders. He had no idea what her monthly cell phone bill would be. He was so distracted by his own phone and so uninterested in my daughters business that we left. We went across to the AT&T store where she was treated like the valueable customer she is. They gave her a fantastic deal on a new phone and treated her so well that she also bought an Otterbox and a Lifeproof case, and a phone charger. AT&T does not provide the signal coverage in our area that Verizon does, but after her experience with Tyrone---she doesn't care. She is very happy with AT&T. Sorry Tyrone, I thought you worked on commission, but you just missed out on the sale of a phone, a 2 yr contract, and 3 accessories. read more

Wish I could give zero stars. WORST Verizon store on planet earth. Unfortunately, I have been in here twice. The employees will be either 1) nice to you but then "forget" you're waiting to be served 2) thinly veil their disdain for your presence before them and say they can't help you with simple requests. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME. There is an hour to 90 minute wait time when you walk in, no matter what you need. Last time I was there, I wanted to trade in my iPhone 5s to get a store credit. Sounds easy? Wrong. After waiting over an hour, a guy came over and said "my name had disappeared off the waiting list" and that's why I hadn't been helped yet. He took my phone to the back to look up my iPhone's personal id number. Came back and asked me some weird questions. Went to the back again. Came back out and said, "I think this phone was reported lost or stolen so we can't accept it". I just stared at him and tried not to strangle him because it shouldn't have taken almost 2 hours for him to come to this verdict. Also, my phone had come to me in a sealed box from the Apple Store and had never left my hands, so clearly he was dumber than a pile of rocks. I went home, typed in my iPhone's id number into the Verizon trade in site, and received a confirmation email that they were sending a box to ship it out. It took me 5 minutes and I received my credit shortly after. LESSON LEARNED. I WILL NEVER WALK INTO THIS STORE AGAIN EVEN IF THE ZOMBIES ATTACK AND ITS THE ONLY SAFE PLACE. read more

This VERIZON store could be compared to a blind man driving a car. At first glance you would not assume there would be any issues, but take one step inside and you will clearly see the lack of staff, enthusiasm, effort. This store has to be one of the most poorly ran VERIZON store I have ever had the displeasure of doing business with. Upon arrival, myself and several other customers patiently waited near the entry way. What little staff they had on shift were either in the back room or making excuses as to why they couldn't help you at the moment. It took an astonishing 20 minutes before myself or the surrounding crowd was checked in. At which time two of the waiting customers made payments in person due to the in store automated payment machine "not accepting credit or debit cards". The overall moral, work ethic and experience of this store has reached an all time low. I can say with certainty that this store is the most ill managed VERIZON I have ever stepped into. After 50 minutes of standing around contemplating what could cause this store to run so poorly, I was told I could not upgrade my phone at the moment due to a shortage of the phone I was requesting. This is understanding and excusable, what is not excusable is the fact that I told the staff which phone I was coming to buy while checking in. This would have been the appropriate time to mention they were sold out rather than making someone wait for an additional 30 minutes. If I could, I would give this VERIZON store 0 stars. read more

Verizon "Customer Service" is a myth. I have been with Verizon for 20 years now, and now matter where you live, or how long you've been with them, their customer service rates from non-existent to absolutely sucks. Their phone service is excellent, but as I experience more and more problems with my plan, and trying to make changes to my plan, the less impressed I am with them.
