I had an awesome experience at the Verizon store in Reading, MA due to the exceptional way the manager of the store, Kevin, handled my situation(which was a big issue). He called the billing department for me, right there in the store! He handled the issue I was having with speed and clarity like you wouldn't believe. It took me 3 hours on the phone with Verizon customer service with what took Kevin only 25 minutes to solve! It was a BIG issue and he came through for me. Customer service like this isn't found in too many places these days, so if you are having an issue with anything, the sales reps and the manager at this store are amazing at solving problems and getting you an absolutely FANTASTIC deal. Terrible...I went to this store today trying to buy a new phone. They said they will only let me finance my phone for 36 months and not let me pay for it in full? If I wanted to pay for it in full I had to order it online, I was literally standing in their store trying to spend 1200 on a new phone and they wouldn't help me. After I called Verizon directly they told me that wasn't true I should be able to pay in full for a phone.in store. Do yourself a favor and avoid this location. read more

Horrible service. Brand new $1500 iPhone dead after 3 weeks, contracted the store and was rerouted to another phone number. They checked inventory and said they had what I needed in stock. Showed up at the store and was treated very rudely by sales person. After 15 minutes, finally got somebody to check inventory and they did not have it in stock. There's no communication between corporate and the stores and customer service here is abysmal. Avoid at all costs! read more

This place is terrible, mainly because they're never open when they say they are going to be. Three or four times now, I've gone there at a time when their website (and the signage on the door) said that they'd be open, only to find that they were closed. Yesterday, they were supposed to be open until 5:00PM, but when I got there at 3:30PM there was a hand written sign on the door saying "closed". Incidentally, my wife has had the same thing happen to her several times. Apparently they just close up whenever feel like it. Never again. From now on, we go to the store in Stoneham. read more

Let me begin to state that I have been a Verizon customer for many years & always in good standing. My recent experience here was absolutely OUTRAGEOUS! It's amazing how you are nearly tackled as not to get away when you are there making a purchase. However the moment you return needing any help, you are basically shoved aside and ignored. Initially I had damaged a phone that served me well for a good 2 year period. It was just paid off & somehow I managed to drop it in such a way that the screen cracked and deadened it. My contact was also nearly over. I came in with the hopes of purchasing a much cheaper one. Reasons being that things have changed & I don't need or want anything close to what I had before. The salesman who worked with me immediately steered me in the direction of the phone Id already had without " hearing" that I had just made it clear that I didn't need the same type of phone. Nor did I want to spend that kind of money.... I was actually told that what he was showing me was the cheapest they had. This went on for awhile... And being that I was basically stuck without anything - I'm one of " those people" who don't have a landline... I had to make a decision or go without anything. I don't know about others - only myself. But just the thought of driving home without one at this point in my life concerns me. Safety these days is big on my list.... So, at the tune of $500.00 ( oh, but this will be spread out over X amount of months, etc) I was pressed into the decision. I had absolutely NO idea there were several lower end models that would have worked just fine to meet my needs - even though I explicitly asked. Let me add that the sales tactic of making me wait in between this dude assisting others while I was hanging was employed. And so it was - Id had enough & ended up with a phone I didn't even want in the first place. I got home and immediately realized that I was pressured... By my need and also this salesperson. I vowed to return it... Even though I'd probably need to pay their idiotic restocking fee. And of course " thought' I'd put the famously touted insurance on it ... Several series of negative events happened in that I wasn't able to return the phone within the proposed time period. By the time I start work they are of course not open.... And at times when I'm through for the day - closed. Then the unthinkable happened... The new phone - which I really believe had a defect to start fell out & cracked... Oh yes! This happened in not even 1 mo from the date. So, now this one wasn't working.... After work I marched over to the store and after what ended up being a very long drawn out wait - because of course this time I'm there as fresh meat..... I now have an issue they'd prefer to avoid, eventually they got to me. Mind you there was only 1 customer in the store. I was of course told that what I'm facing is all MY fault. That the phone could probably be repaired, but not by then - etc, etc etc. Meanwhile AGAIN I don't have a working phone Nothing.... I'm going to spare all the continuing details along with how this is now going to play out because it's now a legal matter. Oh, & just so you know, there WERE & ARE cheaper, much less expensive phones in stock.... the salesperson just won't let you know they exist. If you have ANY thoughts of visiting this store, DON'T! I simply came here, to trade in my phone after buying my new phone from the wonderful apple, because of how shitty the customer service here is. The asian lady with dark black hair at shoulder length, was completely rude. she claims customer service is her #1 priority, but her personality is nothing but rude! i explained to her how simple my transaction will be, and she made me feel stupid... i felt like i was doing her job better than her!! Very unfriendly too.. no "hi how are you" no smile, no NOTHING! and i think shes the manager?? after this very unwell service, i then called apple to tell them how wonderful they were and how i appreciate them taking time to help me and take care of me. just saying .. i got a new phone, all working, set up properly, and all i needed for my questions answered in 1 hour at apple.. here ... 2.5 hours for a trade in ... im looking into new carriers now just from this one poor customer service experience ... such a same... plus verizon is too expensive for the poor service. Haven't wrote a yelp review in years but Verizon brings me back. I experienced the worst customer service I have experienced in my entire life, on 6/30/23. It took me 4 hours to purchase a phone (already knew what I wanted), three phone calls to Verizon corporate while in the store (each of which the telephone representative said that they should be able to help me in the store "they either do not know what they are doing or just don't want to do their job", and ultimately I had to make the purchase online for "express in store pick-up" to be able to purchase the phone and pick up in the store that day. Also, we signed in and waited for someone to help us - which ultimately no one really did. One associate was helping another woman for hours with her watch, and was trying to help us on the side, yet no other associate noticed or cared to call out our name to help us (but helped at least 6 other customers who signed in after us). When the phone was finally able to be handed to us after four hours, an associate locked the phone in the verizon locker and we had to go through 7 steps to unlock the locker. The associate roller her eyes at us when we needed help unlocking the locker, when she could have handed us the bag in the first place. I won't be back to this store again. I ordered an upgrade and foolishly selected "in store pick up" for the new phone. Advertised as a 1 hour process it's anything but and could take up to 4 days for the order to be processed to the store. After 6 hours I tried calling the store to see what was going on. Bingo, they don't answer the phone. When I went down to the store I was greeted warmly by the clerks hanging out (maybe you can answer a phone). When someone finally checked on my order I was told they had not received the order and it was still pending transmission from Verizon. There was nothing they could do at the store. He checked with his manager to see if she had an email releasing the order (really an email? is this 1990). He told me I should go home and wait for the email telling me it's ready. I was furious by their lack of effort and concern. Nothing they could do? I called customer support and they showed the order as ready to be filled. They tried to call the store and guess what. NO ONE ANSWERED THE PHONE. Ironic for a telecommunications giant. Although my credit card was charged and the order showed as processed something was not right. Finally on the 3rd support person I got a manager to place a new order and I'll have Fedex deliver it. The old order will go unclaimed if they ever acknowledge it. "Do you hear me now?" read more

Must I really write this? I can't stand Verizon at this point...and the only reason why they still have my business is because I don't want to pay for the cancellation! I get NO service at my house (and considering I've been a customer for almost 10 years, this is quite random) Verizon's response... "no one should of ever sold you a phone, you live in a dead spot." and that's my fault how? Verizon techs are pretty nice, customer service (1-800 #) are pretty down right rude. This corporate store I go to, better off just calling the 1-800#) because when I get there, they don't know what to do, and make me call while I'm in the store. Ever since Verizon added 4G to their network, I've experienced nothing but problems. My 3G network won't load (with full service, well at least that's what my phone is telling me) and my texts and phone calls won't go through. All Verizon would offer me is a 2 year up-grade (early) however I could not buy any 4G phone or the iPhone, and could upgrade to the most compatible phone to mine which was a Droid 3, that just came out about a week ago.. and in my eyes would be nothing but problems since it's so new on the market, oh and it would cost me $199 to upgrade. Not to mention, the deductible and ridiculous fees to get a new re-placement phone (even through warranty, they're trying to charge me..awful!) and they have already sent me 2... same problems. I mean you don't have too be a rocket scientist to figure out the service just sucks. So its been about a month now that my "ticket" with tech has been open. I was told the technicians have to simulate the problem and figure out if additional towers need to be added to my town. I was also told someone would call me with 5 days with some results. Surprise, surprise, I got no phone call and when I called back, they told me my ticket was closed. I told them, that's kinda funny, since I haven't heard back from anyone. Their response, oh no, its still open, they're still working on it, sorry. Well, I would like to say to them.. Five stars for April!!! I had my new Galaxy S20 FE activated here and had a screen protector ordered, and was told to call in for an appt to have it installed when it arrived. When I called in for an appt, I was ensnared into the never ending menu chain, unable to find a way to reach a real person to talk to, so I took a chance and went there a day after a blizzard when I was the only customer there. I was greeted by April, the best and most knowledgeable Tech I have ever dealt with!! I had a brand new Galaxy that was useless to me, because of the ever increasing complexity of the Galaxy line, I was unable to do anything with this $699 monster. When April offered to help. she actually listened to me, and spent a few minutes helping me to set it up so that I could finally talk, text, email and actually showed me how to deal with Google so that the phone was finally functional!! She deftly worked with several other folks with problems and was able to fix some problems, make a sale, and multi task so that we all felt like she was always paying attention to all of us at the same time. April should be running this operation and training others to work with customers. April should be doing YouTube videos for Verizon, or perhaps establish a side busines selling her service by the hour to folks like myself. Professional, intelligent, accessible. She should be a top manager in a service operation, and I should know because I managed a large CS operation for years. read more

Well its good to know I am not the only one here who was absolutely disgusted by the way that the VZW store in Reading was run: Background: My girlfriend and I were visiting my parents in Reading for the weekend, when one morning she started complaining that her phone no longer was charging. Now of course, this phone, the iphone 4s, has fallen just outside of its warranty period, so we had to take the first step of calling VZW to see what we could do. Her upgrade wasn't until June, so we had about 6 months out from her "possible" early upgrade date which they "typically dont do unless they are about 3 months out" from the upgrade date. So I ask what our choices are, when I was informed about the Edge program + trade in. The lady on the phone was VERY helpful. She asked everything about the phone, and stated that we should get close to $200 for the phone because it is in great condition, with the only issue being that the battery doesn't charge (apparently a common complaint among the 4s). All we would need to do is go to our local Corporate store, trade in the iphone, and purchase a new phone flat out. This means that our new phone would cost about 299, which was understandable, and just $100 more than what we would pay if we were due for an upgrade (because she wants the new iphone). This was on a Sunday night, so the story continues Monday morning when off to the store we went. The Store: When I first walked in with my girlfriend, all kidding aside, we were instantly surrounded by 3, yes THREE, associates. One was talking to us about why we came in, while another stood right behind me, and a third kept interrupting the conversation to ask for our account information as he typed it on his ipad.... wow. We explained the situation, and even told us that the rep on the phone has documented everything that we talked about the previous night. He pulled up the account and essentially rehashed the entire story. The young gentleman seemed to be having a rough day as he had a slight 'i wish i wasn't working right now' attitude and a swagger about him that made you feel like he didn't care to really help you unless you had zero complaints. We showed him the phone, and he immediately handed it back to us and told us that the phone was worthless. uh.... He told us that the phone doesn't turn on, and that they need to be able to turn on the phone and navigate through it. I told him about our situation and how the battery wouldn't charge which means that it had died overnight. He was adamant on his stance and as if his halitosis wasn't a barrage of bad news on its own, he wandered off to get the rather young female manager who worked at the store. Clearly she hadn't taken a class on customer service, as she didn't even bother to come over to talk to us even though I expressed my dissatisfaction with the situation. The associate walked back to us with an iphone cord in hand, plugged it in, and proceeded to remind us that the phone wouldn't charge .... no #$% sherlock .. that's the reason I am here. He then handed us an insurance claim card. I must say, I was surprised, heck I forgot that we had insurance on the line! Of course, handing me the card didn't give him enough satisfaction, he had to proceed to tell me that "it's murphy's law that the phone died on a Sunday" .... *knock knock* Verizon .... time to push out more of those customer interaction trainings that your associates need to complete. So now with card in hand, I ask what the damage would be to get the insurance claim. "180 dollars" .... Not good. Not good at all. So again, I express discomfort over the whole situation.... I see from the corner of my eye the dirty blonde haired manager looking our way .... part of me wanted to speak up and say "uh yes, this is when you are supposed to come over here and convince me that you are looking out for my best interest, etc etc".... nothing. "Ok well here is my dilemma. We just got ATT UVerse, and they told us that we get a big discount on phones and wireless plan. It would only cost 30 dollars a month on top of our uverse plan, plus we get a iphone 5. I feel like it would just make sense for me to drop this line and take up ATT on their offer" Now comes the attitude from the associate. He proceeds to tell me that ATT wont treat us "any better" .... (so wait, are you admitting that you are treating me like &*&?)... and that we would have to pay a disconnect fee "ok what is the ETF?"..."159" 1. Pay 159, switch to att, pay less on my plan, get a new phone 2. Pay 180, be without a phone for a few days, get a refurb iphone, pay more for service. Sorry VZW, you did nothing here to keep me as a customer. One line is now on ATT, and I am waiting for my upgrade date on the other line and adios. Instead of spending so much time pushing your 4GLTE coverage maps, retrain your employees .... teach them what customer service is. And how proper dental hygiene can help customer comfort. read more

Got absolutely sleezed me out of 90$ at this store. Went to pick up a new phone, without asking me the guy just threw on a screen protector, then charged me $40 for one. These cost $10 for multiple anywhere else. Then he asked if I wanted to set my phone up there, I said sure. He made it seem as if it was free, and started setting it up. He then charged me $50 at checkout after the phone was midway through set up. Go pick up your phone and tell this guy not to touch your phone, or you'll walk out with a huge bill. He's going to throw the bundle on the counter at checkout making it seem like you have to buy it. I would never come back to this store again. read more

Yesterday at 10AM upon opening, I walked in to this Verizon store with a phone I wanted to switch from "post paid" (my contract had just ended) to their pre-paid plan. I was told it would take just a few minutes and I waited patiently. During this time they ran my credit card 3 times trying to get it set up. By the 3rd hour I was getting impatient and my baby was getting hungry. We had to leave my phone at the store while several associates and a manager tried to figure out why they couldn't transfer it over. I had to go buy lunch (which I hadn't planned on doing) for myself and my toddler. Upon returning, my phone still wasn't activated and I was told that I could take the phone home and they would get it sorted out and call me on my landline when it was up and running. I did receive a call, however the associate told me that they were in contact with the regional operations manager and that person was looking in to it for me, and that it should be working sometime during the night. I called the store when they opened again this morning because it is still not connected to a network. I spoke with the manager and she said that the regional operations manager was still working on it and she would call me back soon. It is 2.5 hours since our conversation this morning and I still haven't heard back. If there was a way to speak with someone higher up on this, I would appreciate it. I am leaving tonight on a 12 hour drive with my 2 young children and I need my phone to be working. read more

Employees here are amazing!! I can't even count how many times I've been in the store for various reasons over the years (bought a new device; need accessories, activate a new line; port a line) and I LOVE it here! The employees are great I could name a few but if I do that then I might miss someone and offend them. I've been in there so often they recognize my face as a frequent customer. I've never felt the need to raise my voice nor do I ever think that will happen at this location. The employees are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. If they don't know something they go out of their way to find out and help you. I try not to go to any other location because I feel like the service just wouldn't be as good. I've seen other customers yell curse words at the employees and other various unkind sayings. I think some people forget they are human and have feelings. When something is broken, Verizon or Apple has certain rules to abide by and it's not the employees fault that they can only do so much to help. The employees have kept calm while taking the verbal abuse (which is not right since Verizon is not Comcast just saying). Cursing someone out while it helps you vent it's not behavior that should have to be tolerated by the employees at the store trying to help you. They really do everything within their power and go beyond what normal retail employees would do to help. I've seen it and I've been on the receiving end as well. These are good hardworking funny people who I think are worth the time going in to let help you. read more

Worst customer service ever. My past couple of visits, everyone i spoke to was rude. I am well over the age to buy my own phone. I am on my mothers account/ plan and have access to the account and pay my portion of my bill. I went in trying to purchase a new phone, I was not a "manager" of the account and the asian women working the back desk explained that to me, which i understand. So i asked her if she could show me where to go on the app and she immediately stepped away from me and THREW her hands up and said "I can't help you" i processed to find out how to make my self the manger then and there so i didn't need my mother to come in and do it for me which she told me was my only option. I called my mother at the store to read me the code that was sent to her email and out of nowhere at that time i loose wifi at VERIZON so i'm not able to access the app??!?! As i was on the phone with my mother i can hear her gossiping about me to another blonde co worker. As i approached her, she gave me a scowl and attitude and said " You are over 18 right...?" Yes i'm way over 18. In another snippy tone she responds "good just making sure" Lol okay, who pissed in your cereal this morning. If i was under 18 I wouldn't have my forearm tattooed up that she can obviously see.... Just plan rude and awful attitude. Her shift was finally over and got put on with another man who's one of the guys who hangs in the front. Very tall and super nice. I explained my situation and told me straight up i didn't not need to do any labor to get my phone that the Asian women was making it seem to be. He sent my mom a text with a code, i called her, and she read it off. long story short i walked out 5 minutes later with a new phone from this gentleman. The last time I checked the position of "greeter" is supposed to be filled by someone who is pleasant... The "greeter" was the most unpleasant, rude employee I have ever dealt with at this store. She was snippy, she spoke down to me and I watched her speak down to others. The only reason why I am giving this store 4 stars is because I had Nick in Sales/Service and he was AWESOME.. I would have no problem requesting him the next time I go in because he was the most pleasant person to work with. He was extremely educated and wanted to get me the best deal. I used to love Verizon and highly recommended it to others. Not any more. I actually chose to leave Verizon after being a customer since 2005. This past year has been a nightmare. Catching Verizon charging me "miscellaneous" fees and jumping through hoops to figure out what that fee was for was exhausting. I lost all trust and was constantly watching the bill. To top it off, when we tried to switch my mothers name into the account in place of my father's after he had passed, it was an awful experience. I could not access details of the bill, I could only pay. I could not make any changes, I could only pay, unless it was authorized by my father, who was gone. The woman at the Reading Verizon was super sympathetic and nice, we thought we could trust her. It made things a thousand times worse. She told us we were not in a contract and She talked us into changing our plan, "it will be cheaper". When the bill came, it wasn't. When I tried to access the account, I was no longer allowed to. The woman "helped us add my mother to the account", but I found out later she did not do that. she actually activated 2 new accounts instead, both in my mothers name. I found out we had "reactivation" fees on top of other "miscellaneous" fees. I called to cancel the account with Verizon, I had enough. I spoke with a very nice woman over the phone for a long time to make sure I paid off the account to be done with it all. This was back in February. About a week ago my mother got a collections notice from Verizon stating she owed $250. I just got off the phone with Verizon (which took over an hour and being transferred to several different people) to be told that they cannot help me and I owe that money for an early termination fee. I explained the story over and over again, but they kept stating I owed the money because I broke contract, even though I was told several times I did not have a contract and I was told several times I had a zero balance several months ago. I was threatened with " if you do not pay this now, this will effect your credit for 7 years.". This is not good customer service. I currently was not being heard by what VERIZON informed me way back when. Verizon was refusing to take responsibility. I asked them several times to please pull up the phone recording, since I am told every time I speak with a representative that "this conversation will be recorded". I was told I need to go to court and get a subpoena for my own conversation. I was told they did not have any information of who I spoke with that day I paid off my debts and closed out the account. How convenient. I have to give my SS#, pin#, and account# to even speak with anyone about anything other than simply paying them, but they can't pull the recording of the phone call? They can't find out who I spoke with that day? This is BAD customer service, Verizon, BAD. This is the exact reason why I left. It's exhausting, unethical, and irresponsible. I am now even pulling all my Verizon services because I simply trust nothing about them. read more

Had a great experience here after having just driven from the Burlington Mall location. As soon as we walked in, a worker took our name and added us to the list to be helped. We were third in line yet still walked out of there in under 25 min with my new Note 7. The lady helping us answered all of our questions, was very informative, and very helpful. Love my new phone! I have been a Verizon customer for many many years. My phone died and I needed to get a replacement pronto. I could not get through the voicemail system to make an appointment to buy a phone at the Reading Walkers Brook store. so I drove there to make one in person. The manager ( I think he was a manager) did make an appointment for me but was otherwise completely unhelpful even though there was only one person in the store and 3 or 4 staff on hand. He told me he couldn't guarantee the phone I would want would be in stock and it might have to be ordered. I asked him to tell me what phones were in stock and he told me to go online. I was pretty suprised he couldn't even given me this minimal service so that I could get a phone the same day as my appointment. I decided to go to the Apple Store in Lynnfield instead. They helped me immediately and I got my phone yesterday. I have just tried twice to cancel my appointment at Walkers Brook drive in Reading but I still can't get through the phone system. I'm pretty disappointed in the Verizon store and am not planning to visit again even though I've purchased most of my phones there. Bad service folks. read more

This is the worst Verizon store, do not go there for anything. Absolutely horrible service. The people that are giving it 4 stars must be relatives. Home to see my 80 year old mother who has an appointment with a Verizon person (April) at 3p to better learn her Iphone. Mother goes into store and is greeted by manager (Theresa) and is told April is gone but another person will help us. Unfortunately that person is with a customer. Now waiting 25 minutes and no help. Guess appointments dont matter Approach the desk and yet another person says can I help you and we tell her we have been waiting for the other saleperson to help. She says, "well I will get you someone else". Wait another 10 minutes and still no help. Approach desk and say this is unreasonable and last person says "well you know schedules change". On way out Theresa says where are we going and also says something about schedules. Really, well us customers have schedules also. If this is a corporate store, the Regional Manager should be fired for allowing this atrocious customer service and lack of professionalism to happen. If this is a an authorized retailer store then Verizon should close it down for hurting their brand. Dont go there. read more

I went to this store today to make a quick purchase, but apparently they discourage that. I just came in to buy a phone charger, and I already knew exactly what model I was looking for. I quickly found what I needed and wanted to pay. I saw several desks staffed by employees around the store so I asked the woman working the desk in the middle of the store where I should go to pay. She looked very put out, and told me (rudely) that I had to go back to the front and sign in with the girl there, and register at the computer kiosk, and after that they would call my name when it was my turn. Now, if I were shopping for a new plan or needed help making a purchase of a new phone, I would expect to take a number and wait among all the other people who were there shopping for new phones or had complicated service issues. However, I had my item in hand and I just wanted to pay. Really Verizon? There is no open register for customers who just want to make a quick purchase? I have to go through the whole business of signing in at the computer with my name and my account number and then wait for them to call my name just to buy a $20 item that I already have in my hand? That is just ridiculous. I understand that some people need more extensive customer service and the computer registration system may be a good way to manage those folks with more complex issues, but PLEASE let your quick & easy customers just get in and out of the store! Luckily one of the counter guys saw me looking frustrated and asked if he could help...I said "I just want to buy something!" and showed him the item, and he let me check out quickly at his register, behind the rude customer-service lady's back. It's like going to the bank...if you are looking to open a new account or ask about getting a mortgage, you fully expect to wait to talk to someone who can help you. If you just want to make a 30 second transaction, there's a different (and much faster) line for that! Going to the Verizon store to make a quick purchase of an accessory is like waiting behind 5 mortgage customers to withdraw 20 bucks at the bank. How annoying. Next time I will just order what I need online rather than deal with them. read more

I'd go with zero stars if I could. I went in the other night and learned that I had been given misinformation. The employee was rude and unhelpful and the manager was equally bad. I called corporate and dealt with them instead. CORPORATE was even disappointed in these people, and even made a few calls to the store. In the end, I was RIGHT. I got what I needed to get. Poor customer service here and at Verizon overall. I dropped them in my cable service and now will drop them in cell service. My contract ends in 8 days so I wanted a new phone and upgrade my service. Since I buy the phone out right I can't upgrade until Dec 8th Just 9 days away but I must wait. HOW STUPID ARE THEY!! I have had the pleasant experience to deal with this particular Verizon Wireless company store on a half-dozen occasions. On each occasion, I was helped promptly and left having had my issue resolved. On rare occasions, the store is busy (no wonder considering their great service) and the wait can be up to 1/2 hour. They've installed an electronic queue machine at the front door which has helped any long waits considerably. Of particular mention are two employees there that have gone over and above to help: Jess and Angie (congrats on the new baby Angie!). Those two women are truly what customer service should be about. When you combine great coverage (that Verizon is known for) with awesome customer service, you've got a winner. You won't go wrong stopping by Verizon Wireless in Reading. read more

Today i went into the Reading Verizon store. I was checked in by a guy who said they'd call me soon. When I asked him to show me where I could see the most inexpensive basic phones, he pointed me in the right direction. First 4 minutes were good. However, when my name was called, I asked about getting a free phone when I renew my contract and was told I have to go home and do it on line. Really, I asked, my husband was able to get help at the store. Well, she said, the whole point of giving you the free phone is that you do the work yourself. Oh so helpful - not! By minute 6, I was on my way out the door... I came home and spent nearly two hours on line trying to get a new free phone. Ended up getting help from the on line chat service and after getting booted off their web site twice, was successful in getting a free phone and renewing my contract, for $5 less a month. In Mass, you pay taxes on your free phone, so it's not really free. Store staff need more customer service training, web pages need some review to make them more user friendly and able to handle larger volume without kicking me out - at least make it easy enough for me to get what I need while being helped by the chat service, good thing chat help was available and understanding. If you want something from Verizon, be prepared to work hard for it with no guarantees for success. read more

I found the staff and the helpful solutions to my problem worth the trip to the store. I was surprised with the vitriolic reviews. 1) Arrived prior to store opening to find half a dozen customers before me; no problem people behaved just like me. 2) Signed in, explained my problem, shopped around the store, listened to others with their problems (people not ever shutting down their smart phone and curiously unprepared to do so, not having the credentials to make changes to their account/phone, novice users moving form a flip to a smart phone, customers expecting that things would be done in 2 minutes, etc.), and occupied myself. 3) It took about 1-1/2 hrs to resolve my issues that were complex and cost money that I don't want to waste. The staff did so very well. I was satisfied. These reviewers may have had poor experiences but I'd consider what expertise I bring to the table in understanding the 'mighty' and small computer you hold in your hand. Learn more about the limitations of your knowledge and device. Give the employees a chance without starting out with an attitude of superiority, remember they are the ones with the knowledge. If things do go wrong remember it can be fixed. Sticker shock with how ubiquitous the mobile phone has become is tough but it's your decision to have a phone. Okay, I'm off my soapbox ;-) Happy phone shopping! I left ATT 15 years ago because of their poor customer service. My standards are high and Verizon Wireless has been supportive. read more

I wasn't overly impressed with the customer service, when I walked into this particular store a couple months back. I almost felt as though I was an inconvenience to those working there by needing some assistance. I eventually left because of how uncomfortable I felt. I then went to the Verizon Wireless Zone store at the North Shore Mall and what a difference. The gentleman there made me feel like I was his top priority and didn't let me leave until he knew I was 100% satisfied and didn't have any other questions. It's official; they suck. I agree - if I could give less than 1 star I wd have. I went to a place in CA this weekend in a shopping area way more crowded than this store and they managed to get to me immediately - because it was properly staffed. Walked in one night to Reading a cpl of weeks ago - left after being told it wd take 20 mins. At 8:00 at night? RU kidding me? Store sucks; company sucks. With them for one reason only - most of the other stores and companies are equally as bad. They're selling phones, not giving away money. Don't get it. read more
