Vergara Construction - Driveway Extension (2nd floor view) - Masonry/Concrete Near Me - Sacramento, California

I had an amazing experience with Luis and Vergara Construction. First, i unknowingly got a somewhat lowball offer from another company and Luis still honored his 5% policy. He beats any competitor's price for the same project by 5%. He was very helpful and friendly throughout and the job (a massive 30x24 conceete slab) was done in record time. I would not hesitate in using vergara again. read more

Luis Vergara really takes pride in the work his company does and is extremely easy to work with. His price was significantly better than the other quotes I obtained. My project was quite large, removal and replacement of a three layer concrete patio and entry that runs the entire length of the house. In addition, a long driveway design that was a creative solution for the property. All around a stunning outcome! read more

On behalf of Sacramento Rendering Company, Luis Vergara and his crew did an amazing job. Luis is a very receptive and careful guy. Victoria was also very helpful. I highly recommend Vergara to anyone. One of the best companies I have ever dealt with. They did a small side yard patio for us and it turned out great. Really easy to work with and did what they promised to do. Even my father-in-law (a retired general contractor) was impressed, which is not easy to do. read more

Vargara Construction replaced our front stairs 10 years ago, still perfect condition but we had Luis do a color stain at the time and it was getting tired. I contacted Victoria at the office and she had Luis out in a few days for an estimate. His team did a great job and he supervised to make sure it was perfect. My Homeowners Association (HOA) engaged Vergara Construction to repair/replace several driveways and walkways to address trip hazards. We couldn't have been more pleased from start to finish with the work Luis Vergara and his crew did. Luis was the successful bidder because of the detail in his bid and his pricing. They arrived when they said, they provided us with the schedule so we could advise the impacted homeowners when work at their home would be done. Luis was very helpful in suggesting options to correct the trip hazards and was very thorough in explaining to us why he recommended a specific solution for each area. They clearly took pride in their work and all the final areas are beautiful, if that can be said of simple concrete. We will definitely use Vergara Construction for future concrete work. read more

I highly recommend Luis, Victoria, and their team. They were great to work with - professional, prompt, flexible with timing, competitive prices, and they did a great job! I called Luis about 9 months ago when I purchased a home to do some concrete demo in the yard. He came by, talked me through everything and gave me a quote, but time got the best of me and I had to put the project on hold. When I was finally ready to get the job done I knew I wanted to reach back out to Luis for it. I also appreciated that Luis was on site to give me updates throughout the job. Couldn't be happier, and will definitely be reaching back out in the future if there is anything else I need. Thanks Luis and Victoria! read more

Pay attention, and pay attention well! Luis and Victoria are truly exceptional! Their work is outstanding, communication is top-notch, collaboration is superb, and, of course, the cost is excellent! From the beginning to the end, the team was consistently on point, never missing a beat. We reached out to Luis over a year ago, and his personable nature made a lasting impression. Holding onto his business card proved to be a wise decision as, over time, we received multiple quotes, and Luis not only matched them but exceeded our expectations! We are overjoyed and immensely grateful. After waiting for over four years for our backyard makeover, Vergara Concrete turned our dreams into reality. This testimonial is genuine, and so are the incredible end results! read more

Short version: Luis is great -- straight shooter, knows what he's doing, has high standards for his work, and works with the city to get to a solution. Longer version: I couldn't be more pleased with Luis and his team. I contacted several contractors before talking with Luis, and heard lots of excuses from others ("we don't do that kind of work", "you can't do it", "it won't look right"... and so on). I had problems with my cars scraping as I pulled in. The downtown streets have a high crown, and the angles didn't work. Even our Honda Pilot scraped if you pulled straight in. With a planter strip between the street and sidewalk, the angles weren't easy. Luis worked with the city to lower the sidewalk, reduce the slope of the apron, and make it so I can get any car into my garage. We re-did the entire driveway, stamped and stained it, and now it looks fantastic. I wish I had "before" pictures showing the janky cobbles with weeds sprouting up each spring for comparison. Luis worked with the city inspectors, the city arborists, and did some free sidewalk repair to keep the neighbors happy. I honestly don't think this job would have happened without his expertise and patience. read more

From first contact to last, Luis is on top of matters, extremely professional and knowledgeable. He may not be the cheapest, but quality certainly shines. Timely, responsive, friendly, and flexible. Always get your 3 estimates, but with Luis Vergara's "beat by 5%" any licensed and insured contrator's bid, you will have a good deal with great quality to match. He had no problem with my design, what things I wanted to do myself, and anything that would help keep costs down. Thanks for the great experience and incredible work of expanding our driveway and adding a side walkway. Awesome! read more

We would like to thank Luis Vergara and his team, and give Vergara Construction a five-star review! Vergara Construction just completed a driveway expansion at one of our properties and we couldn't be more pleased. From our very first meeting when Luis personally came to discuss and estimate our project to the final completion and clean up, Luis and his team are professional, respectful and friendly. His workmanship is excellent and his pricing was the lowest among four estimates we received. Everything was completed on schedule and we are beyond thrilled with the high-quality final product. The cracks are getting larger, and I'm including photos of the one showing that the spacing of the joints is off and the crack is occurring where a joint should have been. My evidence is that one is on the left but ten inches off from the right side. Regardless of the joint, it seams outlandish that this concrete would be cracking at 2 months, its still not done curing. The city inspector for Sacramento came out and appraised the situation. He says it's more likely an accelerant was added to the concrete causing this odd discoloring and quick cracking. Luis told the quality control inspector at Livingston that he would acid wash the concrete to help alleviate the discoloring. That has not happened. Instead I got a threatening letter from a lawyer demanding more money. I don't believe Vergera construction will ever replace or reimburse me for this job I paid for and although I have made my feelings well aware to Luis before I posted this review that I am completely dissatisfied with his work. I do have the right to share my experience. read more

Great job by Luis and team replacing several sections of our cracked driveway. But to me the most valuable thing was when something DID go wrong he stood by his work and fixed it. We had no problem selecting Luis and his Vergera Construction company to redo our cracked driveway paving. He and his crew exceeded our expectations! The price was reasonable, the work was done in a timely manner, and the result was beautiful. He is a hands-on owner, who works alongside his crew. He is knowledgable, has a great sense of humor and is a delight to be around. He gave suggestions and managed to conjoin the driveway paving seamlessly with an existing pathway. It sounds strange to say this in these times, but Luis's work ethic is amazing and suggests an old school adherence to performing high quality work! read more

Mistake after mistake. Excuse after excuse. Sub-standard in every respect. Untruths, misrepresentation and fictitious statements. They are not BBB Accredited. They reply below states they could not reach me but be assured that when I wasn't there, my wife was home. Vergara Construction took our payment(s) and ran. If we hadn't paid him (as he claims below), he would have filed a lien on the home. Flat-out lie. Eventually we would find out that the firm had several small claims cases against him in both Placer and Sacramento Counties. We even had to pay the concrete truck driver separately as the firm that delivered the concrete would not take payment from Vergara Construction for the concrete. Be careful. The contract they use is designed to prevent you from going to court if your home is damaged or the work is not completed as promised. READ IT CAREFULLY as you'll want to avoid liens against your property and wasted court time. Failed to cleanup, correct enormous errors, show any remorse or concern once paid (and he was paid in full BEFORE the work by either myself or my wife). Avoid... They fabricate everything. read more

I am happy to give Vergara Construction a 5 star review. Excellent service and great work. Even though we were a small job, they treated us like a valuable customer and didn't just brush us off. We will be bringing Luis and his team back for more work in the spring since we have a whole yard to redo. First of all, the owner Luis actually returned phone calls, came out when he said he would, and gave us a written quote right when he was there. Those may sound like little things, but are rare in the construction trade and speak a lot about how he operates. Luis had great design help and was willing to make some suggestions (like filling the raised shed pad with road base instead of concrete) to save us money, but still get the job done. His price was very competitive, and his personality and willingness to work with us sealed the deal. He and his team were fast, kept the worksite neat, and did a great job. The concrete is still curing, but here's a picture of his beautiful work. It is a salt finish in the middle with a brushed finish edge if you're wondering. read more

Needed my driveway repaired and naturally looked for the best concrete people in the area. Vergara construction came at the top of the list, and were prompt to respond. Our driveway, sidewalk, and walkway were uplifted by some serious tree roots (city tree), which required us to get a tree permit and work with a city arborist. Luis and company were patient and accommodating when we had to push back our dates a couple times, and alter the scope of work. He was also graciously willing to coordinate with the arborist and us to make sure we were all on the same page and doing the right thing. We are very satisfied with the finished product (repoured driveway and sidwalk), and would highly recommend Vergara Construction to anyone. I appreciate Luis's honesty and transparency. It offered great peace-of-mind for our first project of this scale. read more

Started out as what I thought would be a good experience. Luis seemed to know his stuff and I had some pretty exact dimensions that I needed my shop pad to be in order to put a building on it. However that went down hill fast when they decided to pour the cement even though it was going to be freezing temps that night. I brought this up with Luis before pouring and he said it would be fine. Lo and behold the top layer of the cement froze and never set correctly. They initially tried to use some kind of "patch" he said on it, and scraped off the top layer and put this patch stuff on it. It seemed ok at first, but after a couple weeks the patch stuff started breaking up and the top layer would just flake off. You could tap on it and it sounded hollow. Then it started to just turn to dust. Now I have cement dust everywhere. It is very fine and gets all over everything in my shop and I'm sure it's great to breath too. Repeated phone calls and many missed appointments later, I've pretty much given up hope on Vergara construction standing behind their work and making it right. I would suggest looking elsewhere for any cement work you need done. Im giving them 2 stars since they did get the dimensions correct. The control joints didn't work correctly though either as I have quite a few large cracks in the pad as well. read more

Luis was doing concrete work in my neighborhood. I spoke to the homeowner and he said he got a few quotes and decided on this company. I am beyond thrilled at how great my replacement exposed aggregate driveway turned out. I continue to get compliments from my neighbors. I live in Gold River and drove by many homes, looking at replacement driveways. I was surprised at how much they differed in curb appeal. I saw three that I liked and inquired at who did the job. All three had used Luis Vergara and highly recommended him. Luis and his team were punctual, professional, polite and perfectionists both in workmanship and clean-up. Vergara will seal the driveway when it is done curing, which will enhance the appearance even further and provide protection against green slimy stuff growing on it. The team power washed and applied sealant to my back 30 year old patio and walkways, which made them look new. This was an improvement I hadn't thought of, but makes such a difference. I am one very happy customer!!! I highly recommend Vergara for your concrete needs. read more

All in one day! This amazed me as I have done allot of concrete work as an amateur and would never consider this a one day job. First, Luis comes out with a team of professionals that know different soils, rocks, landscaping, sprinklers, drainage, and of course concrete. Second, they work almost without breaks. I'm sure they did individually, but it seemed I saw someone working all day in my backyard. Thirdly the finished product was better than I expected. They set the patio up for drainage with a valley to rid the water, we washed it off two days later and no bird baths. They we're also the lowest bid, which since we were tight on cash, really helped. I would highly recommend Vergara Construction for concrete work, I was very impressed. Tony Hargett read more

Luis is generally rude and disrespectful. He is unwilling to compromise. He can't seem to respond to any kind of reasonable requests, and will even mock you if he disagrees with you. Truly terrible interaction throughout. I wasn't surprised at all when I read the other reviews, especially one about him messing up a driveway despite a freeze warning, then doing a poor patch job. Stubborn behavior again and again. I'm sure you could find a contractor with better behavior, for a better experience overall. Otherwise, consider yourself warned... read more

4/24/14 We were very pleased with the entire process of having our driveway and walkway redone by Vergara Construction aka Vergara Concrete (now at 4105 - 23rd St., Sacramento, CA 95822) using state-of-the-art equipment for a fair and reasonable price. We were able to communicate on a daily basis very well with Luis Vergara about every single little detail on our project. He always explained things as carefully and thoroughly as he could and listened very well to all our concerns and input. He never once made us feel like our questions and concerns were unnecessary. He did all the work that we asked him to do in a timely manner and did not leave a big mess at the end. All of his crew interacted with us well and worked hard on our project which looks great. Our old driveway had about 12-14 very big cracks (1" to 1 1/2" high) caused by root damage and was an extreme trip hazard. The old driveway only had 2 crack control joints and had no rebar or wire mesh in the foundation. Our new driveway has 8 crack control joints, wire mesh reinforcement, two 12" concrete trench root barriers, and we added a beautiful brick accent for aesthetics which we feel was well worth the extra dollars. We highly recommend Luis Vergara and give him 5 stars out of 5. Wish we could give him 20 stars because excellent, affordable, licensed, bonded, and insured contractors are hard to find!
