We hired nick Lambdin masonry to extend the height of all our existing columns using rocks at our property. We have an existing rock fence however the columns were short and we wanted to raise the height. Nick was very nice and friendly at first when we met in person, and he said that job was easy and it is something he can take care of. We met twice before we agreed to proceed. Once the job started we started seeing some issues. First of all Nick does not do any of the work. Unfortunately this translates to speaking to multiple people if we have concerns. On occasion it was difficult to get in contact with him to address any changes. The workers could not proceed at certain times w/o discussing with him. Our 2nd issue is really that the work doesn't match the initial work that was there. The new work has rocks that are stacked where the old work had rocks that were carefully chosen to mesh with each other leaving a flat vertical surface. I did bring this up and the response was that we didn't have "good" rocks to use. This baffled me as we paid for new rock (per the contract), however new rocks were never provided. This brings me to my 3rd issue. We paid for additional rock in the event we did not have enough on the property. Turns out we had plenty and therefore nick never brought new rocks over. I never received a refund on this since I paid for a product that was never used. I brought this up and nicks response was "rocks are cheap". 4th issue is that the final finished work is of poor quality. The tops are made of brick and some are raised in the middle from too much mortar while others are leaning. A handful of the tops are not level, bad enough to see with naked eye. See attached picture. Once again I brought up all these issues at the end with Nick, and Nick's response was "I think it looks good". When Nick came to collect payment, cleanup was still left to be completed. His team did come the following day to clean up any debris on the ground, however the tops of the columns have mortar all over the rocks that was never cleaned. See attached pictures. Unfortunately 1 week after, some of the tops are in worse condition, I assume from poor mortar/water mixture, from the work being rushed. Nick mentioned he had to rush the job because it was taking too long.... This brings me to my final concern, which is poor customer service: I paid Nick March 17th. One week later we noticed the tops sliding and one column beginning to lean. I contacted Nick multiple times via text and phone with out a response. I have done my part to work with Nick to resolve these issues. I have given Nick the courtesy to get back to me over close to 2 months without avail. I was hoping to take care of my concerns w/o 3rd party involvement. Once again I think Nick is a nice person and truly wanted to resolve the issues with him. I don't expect Nick to fix all the issues however I did expect to fix things like leveling the top. However avoiding phone calls and messages really speaks volumes of inability to stand behind his work. Unfortunately I don't have time or interest to play these games, and will now be taking legal action against Nick Lambdin masonry. Please avoid this contractor. There are many other masonry contractors out there that stand by their work.

Met Nick through Angi's list. His workers showed up on time, kept the job site cleaned. Nick and his crew did an excellent job on my two chimneys. They are both unused, so we tuck pointed and caped the chimneys I would absolutely hire Nick again

Finished wall. TV cables embedded in wall. Gives room entirely new look. First thing people see when they enter the home. Excellent job!!

We just want to shout out to the world how pleased we are with the job Nick L. did on our fireplace remodel! He was tasked to "do something" with our gaudy 1970s fireplace. He had an extraordinary vision and the skill level to back it up. He carefully explained a design that would complement our home that included photos of rock and hearth ideas, and a hidden cable hose to hide dangling TV cables from view. Nick is a perfectionist and has a keen eye for every detail. His work is exceptional, meticulous, along with being accessible to answer questions for us any time 24/7. You can trust your fireplace remodel will be done with the highest integrity with Nick L. We get endless compliments from family and friends who see our new fireplace and we will be enjoying it for years to come! Minnie & Steve Galt, CA.

    Updated fireplace!

Nick is definitely worthy of a 5 star rating. I'd give him 10 stars if that was possible. First, Nick knows his business well. He pays close attention to details. His rock work is exceptional. He was also careful with the mess and cleaned up every day. I would highly recommend Nick for any and all mason work that you might need.

Side steps. Brick layered over existing concrete step.

Nick did an excellent job and addressed the minor issues that came up so that we got exactly what we wanted!

    After

Wow! I am so happy with the results of Nick's work. I had a totally janky brick patio with a big hole in one corner and completely uneven (not to code) and too narrow steps leading up to a back door. Nick and his team not only took care of the hole and the steps, they were able to brick in an old fuse box opening, completely matching the old brick. They also acid washed and cleaned some previous, bad grout work in the front of my house. The price was reasonable and it looks great. See before and after pics.

This review is a bit late, but couldn't be happier with Nick & crew's work on replacing our front walkway! We've had it awhile now and it is SOLID! Everyone compliments us on it, and it adds first class curb appeal to our home. The original walkway was shoddily done and flaking off. The stones were very thin and improperly set into concrete. Nick completely tore it all out all the way to our slab foundation and laid a new concrete base. He met us at a local masonry business to select our stones and mortar colors. After the concrete set, he properly set our new thick stones in mortar on top of the concrete. He is a professional mason, and realized that thinner stones were needed near the front door to fit on top of the slab (yet under the front door frame) to create a smooth transition and slope to the driveway and down the walkway. Afterwards they acid washed the walkway to remove residue and show off the sparkle in the quartz. It still looks amazing and like new! Couldn't be happier and highly recommend Nick Lambdin to create a beautiful walkway like ours if you want that WOW factor!

This is a pic of our newly remodeled fireplace and we are so happy with Lambdin Masonry.

Nick did a beautiful job. It's really great to find someone who takes so much pride in their work, especially when they're working inside your home. I felt completely confident with Nick the entire time and when the job was completed, I was absolutely blown away at the grand unveiling. I highly recommend Nick for anyone looking to do stone work in their home. You won't regret the investment.

Nick and his team replaced our tile entryway and fireplace with used brick and we couldn't be happier with the results. Nick was prompt, very professional, met commitments, and made sure my wife and I understood what to expect throughout the process. His team was consistent, professional, and very clean (even with all of the dust that is generated with their trade). Thanks Nick!

It's so difficult today to find trustworthy, reliable, dependable, and professional businesses that provide superior customer service and, what my husband refers to as, "squared away" people. At the time I scheduled the appointment, the lady who booked it, gave me all the details, including the cost, and what would be inclusive in that cost. Although I scheduled the appointment, I had to work so my husband greeted Anthony when he got to our home. While I was at work, my husband was sending me text messages about Anthony, how much he liked him, how professional, articulate and smart he was. My husband is not a subject matter expert when it comes to fireplaces or chimneys, however he is a retired engineer, and has a strong family history of working with and for multiple companies and people directly involved in "the trades." Because of this, everything that Anthony went over with my husband, was on point. Anthony and the company he represents, has integrity. This is another quality we don't get from businesses or companies today. Everything went as promised by the person that scheduled my appointment. We had a full report by the time Anthony left with pictures and costs for each item that was suggested. Anthony also strongly encouraged us to not use our fireplace! We love fires, but continued use, in the current state of the fireplace, could pose a safety risk. Most people wouldn't want to pay the cost for the inspection, but it was worth every single penny to us! Our home was built in 1947, and has probably not had many if any repairs at all. Note to the owner: I am sure you treat your team wonderfully well, but please continue to do so. Staff members like Anthony are difficult to find. I've been managing healthcare operations for most of my career and people like Anthony, not necessarily fireplace technicians, but in the workforce as a whole, are few and far between when it comes to representatives of your company.

I appreciated Elite sending me a photo of Joseph with an arrival time. (Safety first!). We also got a very thorough inspection of the fireplace, chimney, and chimney cap, with photos. I'm not picky about what kind--I just need something to keep my cats out of the fireplace. Den Defenders responds right away, "We can definitely help with that!" They send a technician named Joseph to my home a week later, and he recommends that I go with custom glass doors. He says he'll send a quote within a few days. He doesn't. Now it's October, and a couple of weeks have gone by with no word from Den Defenders. I try giving them a call. The friendly woman on the phone seems shocked I haven't received a quote yet and promises to have Joseph give me a call later that afternoon. He doesn't. Over the next couple of weeks, I try calling a few times. Nobody answers. My voicemails go unreturned. Fast forward to the morning of November 6, 11:02 a.m., when I get a text from "Josh" at Den Defenders. ("Josh" is in quotes because, as I learned later, these texts are AI generated.) It says, "One of our inspectors met with you earlier this year about your chimney project. Just wanted to check if you're still considering it." 'Well, yes, Josh," I think to myself. 'I *am* still considering it.' That's why I've been calling. I text "Josh" back, explaining that I still haven't received my quote. He says he'll look into it. (Again, while I don't know this yet, "Josh" is a robot and will say anything to appease me.) A few days later, I get another text from Den Defenders. This time: "To qualify for these rebates, your chimney or fireplace project must be completed by December 31st." I think, 'Wow. I would *love* for my project to be done by December 31st. In fact, I would have loved for it to be done already! Alas, I still haven't received a QUOTE.' I call, and I call, and I call. It is now December. Sacramento is steeped in its 15th consecutive day of fog. Temperatures haven't left the 40s in days. It would be lovely to use my fireplace right about now. I am starting to wonder if Joseph is avoiding me on purpose. Beginning to think that I am an incompetent husband incapable of managing even a small project around the house, my wife picks up the phone. Of course, this time, somebody at Den Defenders *actually* answers. (She calls from her phone, which gives some credence to my avoiding-me-on-purpose theory.) Anyway, after talking to my wife, a wonderful gentleman named Steven actually--finally--sends the quote. It's going to be $2,795 dollars for custom glass doors. I'm elated. At this point, I'll pay anything. My credit card is in-hand. But, wait. There's no link to pay the deposit. I call to ask for further instructions. There's no answer. I call again, there's no answer. I leave voicemails. Nobody returns them. I wonder, to this day, if anybody ever listens to them at all. My wife calls again, and Steven picks up on the first ring. He says there's been a problem: apparently, he was "never supposed to send that quote." We ask why, and he's cryptic. He says he'll call us back when he finds out more. He doesn't. It is now December 15. It has been three months since Den Defenders told me they could "definitely" do this project. Our Christmas stockings hang on the mantle, but instead of the brilliant glow of flames flickering through a tempered glass door, all I see is a thick slab of cardboard duct taped across the opening of the fireplace. Desperate, I try calling one more time. It must be a Christmas miracle, because somebody actually answers. I beg. I plead. I am not religious, but I pray. I'll give anything if Den Defenders will just let me pay for these godforsaken doors. I'll do anything to end this months-long nightmare. Rosann, the woman on the phone, is pleasant and apologetic. She tells me that Steven is unavailable. That Joseph is out sick. That she's actually from a different location and isn't quite sure what's going on. That she'll get back to me when she has some answers. Within the hour, I get a text: "After speaking to my team, we are unable to get a glass set for your unit." So now, here I sit. My den? Undefended. My wife? Disappointed. My resolve? Stronger than ever. There *will* be doors on my fireplace, but it won't be Den Defenders who installs them. TLDR: Den Defenders strung me along for months just to tell me they couldn't do the project--even after sending me a quote for the work. Two stars because the people we interacted with were nice enough, but I can't recommend reaching out to this company for any kind of custom project.
