Is it possible to have one store that carries all the cool stuff I want? Yep - and Verde has it. I've been stopping in recently for small bunches of flowers and have been pleasantly surprised by the non-standard selection they have (they also have some standard options you normally see at floral shops). They have neat finds from the relatively lower end of the budget scale to pricey pieces, from soap and perfume to household knick knacks and purses/wallets. I'm disappointed to report that Katy, the floral designer, left Verde a couple of months before our wedding, and it seems pretty up in the air about whether she will be replaced, leaving us florist-less two months before our wedding. The owner was apologetic about it, and I understand her position, but it certainly leaves me a little less enamored of Verde. That said, I'm sure I'll be back for the Philadelphia t-shirts and greeting cards, their wonderful jewelry selection and eclectic gifts. read more

The employees at Verde will do anything to avoid helping you. The only reason I knew I wasn't invisible is because the manager sometimes hovered in back of me so that he could re-arrange anything I had picked up. I decided that I wanted to buy a piece of jewelry for a gift, but then I had to maneuver around the manager who stood leaning against various cases as he chatted with staff. I ended up buying a necklace and some accessories, b/c I was very short on time and needed a birthday gift. But I regret it now. Why did I give my money to a store where I practically had to beg to see the jewelry in the case? I guess the full effect didn't sink in until I was already making my purchase and the girl at the register made it clear that she was doing me a favor by ringing me up. I normally shop in N. Liberties and have encountered nothing but helpful, warm shop owners. For jewelry, I love Adorn where Sarah Lewis is both the creator and the shop-keeper. I also recommend Bambi for a variety of gifts curated by super-friendly and helpful Candy, and Art Star which has artist made jewelry and is run by two very friendly artists. read more

Well the "flowers" here are all dead and old so I wouldn't bother on that end. Not sure what anyone else is seeing. The artisan chocolates they have here, called Marcy Blain are terrible. They are all the same, just melted chocolate with different stuff put on top. I bought four and they were 10 dollars! Everyone tasted like the same melted chocolate that was poured into a mold and then different stuff put on top. It's the ladies that own Lolita so I don't know if it's the slobby big lady or the icy one who makes these but whoever it is needs to go learn how to actually make them. Verde is one of my most favorite boutiques in the city for jewelry. Ever since Black Cat closed down in U. City, I've been looking for a place with as great of a selection. Verde is also great for bags, scarves, hats, and other random (but fantastic) items. It's a great place to go to for gifts, and they carry wonderful letterpress cards. They also make their own gourmet chocolate in the back, are open till 8PM during the week, has an extremely friendly staff,...I could go on and on about how great this place is. read more

Super cool boutique! I've admired all the beautiful chotchkies in here for awhile, and often browse here when I'm looking for a gift for family members, but then this is a grand delusion because really I just want every thing for myyyseeeelllfff. The jewelry section is divine and the clothing can be hit or miss on the trendy stuff, but I did just get the cccuuuttest top there, in a "treat yo'self" kind of mood and I've gotten a lot of compliments on it. I'll be stopping by this week to get some chocolates to send to my mom for mother's day. read more

I've popped in the store a few times to browse, but more notably have received some great gifts from here. The first being a gorgeous white faux fur vest - I've been wanting a vest for a while and this one was much nicer than the ones I've seen at department stores. yesterday was my first time coming here and i have to admit i was quite surprised.. in a good way. Part of the 13th st craze I wandered in just to check things out while waiting for my HH date. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is b/c when I walked in no one acknowledged me. No hi no welcome NADA. Usually this turns me right out the door but I must say I was intrigued by all the different things they had available. Purses, scarves, jewelry, shoes, the list goes on and on. I had been on the hunt for a nude clutch for about 3 weeks now. I wanted something not to big, not too small that could hold the essentials' found a vegan leather clutch that suited my needs and at a steal I made the purchase. Could def do some damage in here and though I wasn't greeted check out was a breeze and the young lady was super friendly. Will prob come back to see what other cool finds there are. read more

They've really upped their inventory lately. I love love love the concept in this store. Some might think it is all over the place but I like how they are changing things up. I think the best word to describe Verde is DANGEROUS. I am almost happy it's a little pricey or I might accidentally buy everything in the store. The adorable, plentiful jewelry collection stands out the most. Verde is the perfect place to shop for a female friend/relative for a gift. read more

I stopped in this joint the other day..for some odd reason I thought they only sold chocolate so I never went in. My bad! They have a ton of bags, scarves, and jewelry..the jewelry is the shit. If you are looking for a statement piece/costume jewelry..then this is your jam. The prices are pretty decent..ranging from $30-$100 for a necklace that will prompt many "how you doin'! This store is awesome. It has unique jewelry, accessories, and body products. The only downside is that the clothes, while cute, all seem to be made out of a cheap polyester. It's a bummer. Besides that, it's a great store, and I love browsing during my break. Plus, it's a women-owned business. read more

One of my girlfriend's favorite places in the city, and a go-to spot for affordable items for holidays when I need something for her or my sister. They have a good selection of purses, jewelry, random clothing, etc... essentially a mix of many different things that girls like, all in one store. I also like that it has a local feel to it, sort of like what Urban Outfitters pretends to be if you can forget it's actually a large corporation. Now they just need to open up a comparable store for guys! read more

Cute boutique. Lots of cool and unusual gifts. I came in to buy a bracelet and didn't know how to leave.

The chocolates I bought look delicious, but the woman behind the counter was very snotty. Couldn't be bothered to wait to finish her conversation with another employee until after helping me. A young woman who was making chocolates was very helpful in describing the items I was asking about, but the woman behind the register had such an attitude - like , "What are you - an idiot?" Unfortunate, because the folks working in the other store owned by these retailers, Open House, were so friendly and helpful. Probably won't go here again, even if the chocolate tastes good. read more

I wish I could have my birthday party at this store. It's so awesome and they have Tillandsia which has to be about one of the coolest types of plants ever! Water is barely needed for these babies. What a wonderful concept! From jewelry, hats, and purses to nail polish and even chocolate, Verde's got it all. There's even a confectionery kitchen in the back of the store where you can watch the chocolates (as well as some desserts for a few of the neighboring restaurants owned by the same two owners) being made. The chocolate company that calls Verde its home is Marcie Blaine Artisanal Chocolates, and you can tell how incredibly innovative these chocolates are not only by the looks of them, but by tasting them. From hand-crafted chocolate truffles to creative varieties of chocolate bark (and so much more), whether you favor something more simple (like peanut butter and pretzel) or something more adventurous (like bacon or ancho chile), you are sure to find something to suit your sweet tooth. Selections change periodically so be sure to stop in as the seasons change to see if there's anything new. Visit Verde at your own peril! This unique little boutique is amazing! My friends and I discovered it while waiting for our table at El Vez- very dangerous! They have really pretty jewelry - it's on the more expensive side - if you're on a budget. But it's made by local artists, and I always love knowing that my jewelry is one of a kind. They have a great selection of cool scarves, hats and gloves - perfect for fall and winter! I was bummed that my favorite scarves were all around $50, but they look very warm and cozy. And they have cute socks with mustaches and other goofy things that I'm definitely getting as a Christmas present for friends. I was not too interested in their clothing - but if you're looking for something unique and a little bit pricey, it's worth looking at. For now, I'll be avoiding that block so that I don't spend any more at Verde. But I'll be back, I promise! read more

I am a big fan of verde! I can never go into this store and walk out empty handed, it is extremely dangerous. I often go here to pick out jewelry as gifts for my sisters. More often than not, I also end up buying something for myself as well. My ONLY beef with Verde is that I love the clothes, but theres nowhere to try them on. It stinks b/c I don't like dealing with buying something, trying it on, and then returning it. I never buy the clothes, b/c I can't be sure how they'll look. Thats a bummer. read more

Visited for the Budino Doughnut limited roll out this past weekend. What great marketing- many a passerby inquired to us in line what the crowd was for. I love events like this, it makes the city interesting and it re-piqued my interest in spending more time at the duo's many establishments. Doughnut was delicious also. read more

hailed from the great sisters who bring you barbuzzo, lolita, grocery., and the newest jamonera - verde is a quaint little store that combines every girl's weaknesses. artisanal chocolates and cute accessories. everything here from clutches, to scarves, jewelry, hats, and sunglasses, are so unique and beautiful! i walked around thinking "this is so cute, i think i want this!" to just about every article i picked up. so much that i walked out with a pair of gold/crystal dangly earrings, only to come back a few weeks later to buy the other pair of silver ones i couldn't stop thinking of. not everything is local, they have items from designers in other department stores for example. but the selection is somehow carefully curated so everything complemented each other in a quirky, fresh way. to top it off a display of marcie blaine's yummy chocolates sit next to the counter. an array of delicious, elegantly decorated chocolate squares make it hard for you to walk out without at least trying ONE (or four, like i did). another great gem to add to the 13th street row. read more
