Asia Crafts is a small trinket shop that mainly sells stationery, Sanrio merch, collectibles, and blind boxes. It's a great stop if you're looking for something cute or souvenir-worthy. We were hunting for Smiskis and found only two boxes, which the staff had kindly set aside behind the counter -- they were super nice and helpful about it. Just a heads-up, there's a small upcharge if you pay with a card (which is becoming more common in the area). They have a pretty large Sanrio selection and some snacks and candies too. The store is clean, well-organized, and check-out was fast and easy. It's a little on the pricey side though. While I've heard they sometimes follow customers around to prevent shoplifting, that didn't happen to me, but I can see how it might feel awkward if you're browsing slowly or being indecisive. Still, the overall experience was pleasant, and it's definitely worth a visit if you're into cute collectibles or gifts. read more

Asia Crafts has the best selection of Sanrio items in the city! The store is nicely organized by type of product so it's easy to see the different sections and find what you need or simply browse at everything! The owners are the best and I love that it's a family run shop. Occasionally they'll have special events. My favorite has been Meet and Greet with Hello Kitty and Kuromi and also being invited to their special friends and family anniversary event. read more

I was sold a bootleg figurine here in February. Now I'm not opposed to knock-offs necessarily, but selling a knock-off item at a name-brand price is insane. It's partially my fault for not looking harder--but as a store that bills themselves as an authentic carrier, it's definitely on them for trying to fool their customers, too. I will still visit this shop to look into the Sanrio goods as they occasionally have rare characters that don't often make it to America, but I add in a hefty "buyer beware" to my previous review. read more

I was looking up things to do in Philadelphia during my brief visit and....the reviews on this store crack me up. For anyone who doesn't know, merchandise like this (Sanrio, rilakkuma/korilakkuma, etc) is going to be pretty pricey anywhere besides Japan. Coming from the Bay Area, the prices here were pretty reasonable. The owner (I'm assuming) was kindly reminding all who came in to hand sanitize as all the guests were touching the items. I ended up picking a cute coin purse I've never seen before of my favorite character from this stop. Tips: * It's a little warm inside so be prepared for that. They where so ridiculously rude. The main woman there especially I understand that they want you to use hand sanitizer so I did, but they followed me around the whole store, accused me of stealing, and was rude the whole time. I was going to buy an overpriced Rillakuma plushie but after that that experience I settled for just a sanrio bag to use for room decorating. The woman at the counter didn't even hand the bag to me after I got it just walked away with it on the counter. The store isn't very clean and most of of it is marked up x10 or drop shipped from AliExpress. Overall not even worth it. read more

The whimsical Sanrio sign stopped me in my tracks on my way to see some history. (Heck, it's my own childhood history to be sure). Inside you'll find a magical treasure trove of whimsical offerings. Sadly the high prices and surly workers are less magical. You'll be treated like a nuisance the moment you walk in the door. The giant Hello Kitty head on the sign outside definitely caught my attention and lured me into this place. The shop is narrow and pretty small inside. I purchased BTS keychains here and got a complimentary pack of Pocky sticks in cassis flavor. These tasted great. I don't know if there's a minimum purchase necessary in order to receive the free gift. The keychains were around $6 for each. There were other BTS items I wanted to buy for my niece but they were on the pricier side. They were unique items that I hadn't seen at the LINE store. I was looking for Lunar New Year envelopes but didn't end up buying it because they were all around $5 for 4 letters. They had some cool pens and pencils but the prices weren't cheap enough for me to want to buy them. This place is located in Chinatown so parking is very difficult. They sell stationary, plushes, snacks and a lot fewer Hello Kitty items than previous reviewers posted from 2013. They had Philadelphia-specific souvenirs as well. This place always has the worst customer service and they accused me of lying after being in the store for 30 seconds. I walked in, put on their hand sanitizer without them having to ask me, and continued into the store. Next thing you know, one of the ladies that works there comes up to me and starts yelling at me in front of everyone to put on hand sanitizer saying she didn't see me do it. I told her I did and she insisted that I was lying. I was so frustrated but too shy to yell back at her for accusing me of lying and embarrassing me. They're too expensive and always stare at me whenever I'm in their shop even before the pandemic. Never going back again. read more

Not very welcoming to people of color, I can't believe I even spent money in this store. The 2 girls in charge were staring me and wife down the entire time in the store and were very condescending and rude to her. They were watching everything that we did, I couldn't pick up a box without one of the girls mentioning a price of anything we picked up. After posting the review of my experience below, the owner of the store, Eric, messaged me directly. He was extremely apologetic and embarrassed by his employee's behavior. After reading his message, I visited the store again with my husband. In person, Eric apologized AGAIN, and even gave me a gift bag of goodies (candies and stationery) to further show how much he appreciated me as a customer and how sorry he was for his employee's behavior. I have attached a picture of the goodies I was given. I will probably visit the store again- they have this awesome hello kitty X tokidoki piece. I used to love this store. From never seen before hello kitty and cinnamaroll washi tape to hard to find pocky flavors, this place was a haven for a Sanrio lover like myself. All of this changed when I was chased down in the street by one of the workers- and accused of stealing. I have bought so much stuff from this place that I walked in with an arm full of items I had already purchased from here- my keroppi clutch/purse, my hello kitty phone case, and a little twin stars notebook that I have been using to practice my brush pen calligraphy. I purchased a new folder set and lemon flavored pocky, and proceeded to ogle a new little twin stars phone case. I went to my favorite candy store, and after leaving the candy store, two workers chased after me in the street, one of them grabbed my arm, and proceeded to accuse me of stealing my notebook. How stupid they felt when I opened the notebook and showed them my handwriting. Smh. It's hard to process an experience like this- after all the money I have already spent there- I will never patronize this store again. And to add insult to injury, I had to demand an apology. THEY SCAM U!!! I am never going here again, I went with my sister and my friend and when we walked in something was just off in the store idk what it is but when we walked in we all used the hand sanitizer she puts at the door. We were looking around and she's just everywhere we turn, she's always looking at what you're doing and telling you the prices to try and get u to buy stuff. There were these people there and we heard her gasp at the counter which I thought was weird because she already knew the price before checkout but when I checked out I realized she's over charging people, I saw these small charms that I liked and she said they were $10 so I got them and my friend got a small can of pear flavored soda. When we went up to the counter and checked out she said the total was $25 and I'm not sure how that happened considering the can was only a couple dollars and the charms were $10. She also never gave us the receipt and overall it was not worth it at all. read more

I took my family to see the Friendship Gate and this was a few stores down from it. My daughter loved it because it had a lot of Hello kitty items and apparel. My son liked all of the other toys that he couldn't get in normal chain stores. Only issue was the owner kept following us around. read more

This is the place in Philly to find Hello Kitty, Funko Pop, and other assorted Japanese goodies. The prices are on the high side-a pack of Shopkins like figurines was $16 and a large Hello Kitty stuffed animal was $50 but well-worth it for unique, hard-to-find gifts. read more

This is probably one of my favorite stores in Chinatown, Philly. Every time I come in here with my boyfriend, I just want to buy everything! One step into the store and you're surrounded by a variety of Sanrio themed stationary, plushes, and unique items (and I forget to mention all the cute Asian candies!) Think Disney Store for Disney products, but instead this is Sanrio heaven. Even though I'm not a huge hello kitty fan, I do find other Sanrio characters to be cute. And this store just makes everything Sanrio even more admirable. It's the perfect place to find your hello kitty loving bff or girlfriend a gift! My favorite thing to buy from this store are the stationary items. The pens are so cute! Customer service here is always great during my visits. The workers are very helpful and friendly.
