Ali's Wagon is the perfect little gift spot in the heart of Fairmount. In the front, they have a great selection of gifts for adults- things like cute cards (way better than the drugstore ones), home items, cute socks, and so much more. I went there today to buy a gift for my friend's baby's first birthday, and they have such a cute selection of gifts for kids! So many toys, books, clothes, and accessories. This is such a great store filled with all sorts of items, gifts, and local goods. You should have no problems finding something for yourself or someone else (from baby to adult!). I love this little boutique! It's my go-to place for a fun housewarming or birthday gift. Plenty of arty but useful items (carving boards, soaps, kitchen supplies, posters, glassware, etc), but also clothing, children's gifts, T shirts, and hilarious socks. My favorite is an all purpose light blanket that makes the best house warming present. I've bought 4 of them! Staff very sweet and helpful. They are being super cautious during Covid. I have purchased gifts at this store a couple of times previously and always wanted to purchase the Ruth Bader Ginsburg action figure for kids, for myself. The day day after her passing, I chose the store pick-up option and was able to pick it up within 15 minutes of purchasing. The handwritten note reads "hoping these bring a smile even in these weird times. Notorious RBG forever, be well." Nestled between 20th and 21st on Fairmount Avenue, it might be easy to walk right past Ali's Wagon. In all honesty, in my 3 years in this neighborhood my first visit was this past Sunday for the Arts Crawl. It certainly won't be my last! The store is absolutely adorable and carries a wide range of products from pastas, to soap, to post it notes, to flasks. There is so much variety that I would suggest checking it out yourself. This is the perfect place to pick up a house warming, shower, birthday or any other sort of gift. I can't believe I've overlooked this little gem of a store in the past and look forward to future shopping. read more

I needed to buy a gift for a baby's first birthday party at the last minute and really didn't feel like driving to a chain store and meandering through aisle after aisle to find something, so I searched for stores that had children's items near Fairmount on Yelp and Ali's Wagon popped up. Even better: 15% off purchase deal when you check in! It was easy to locate a perfect gift within minutes (seconds?) of entering the store, and I couldn't help but pick up some other non-baby goods, too, while there. While this small boutique-y shop is lacking in some direction, I found this soit--which has been on Fairmount Avenue for thirteen years--to be charming and cute. I loved the friendly, charismatic staff and the sensitive owner. I went it simply because it was a UPS Access Point and then happened to buy a gift for my wife while I was there. Enter: Ali's Wagon Parenting Center. It's a cozy room in the back of Ali's Wagon where mostly new parents who live in the area gather like zombies to breastfeed, complain about breastfeeding, and desperately seek advice and support. Different professional members of the community come by to wield their sleep and medical advice-- check their website to see the schedule. The store itself is super cute as well. Fun baby and non-baby stuff are stacked in this semi-small space. I could spend forever just looking at all the different fun things. read more

The stuff here is absolutely adorable. I went in here to look for a lunch box, and I had heard they carried the one I wanted, they didn't actually have the one I wanted but , considering I went when it was practically october and they had been wiped out during the normal time people shop for lunch boxes I was ok with that. I did end up trying to get a lunchbox from here.. I went to pay with my card.. and midway through their machine froze.. I waited for her to reboot it, and then something else screwy happened. so I decided to leave sans lunchbox. She apologized and I was in a good mood and besides technology has the ability to get the best of us at times.. Anyway, I leave, and decide to look at my bank history.. It showed 3 identical charges .. I am somewhat annoyed but I know the store is small, so I know the girl who helped me would remember the incident, so there should be no problem calling them to figure out what was going on.. I call them... tell her what happened and she apologizes, and gets my info and tells me she will look into and will call me back... I thought to myself " hey I'm going to be pissed if she doesn't call me back blah blah" and to my surprise almost 15 minutes later she calls me back and tells me that the charges should never post and that if by chance they do to call them and they will straighten them out.. She then apologized AGAIN and told me she hoped that this did not leave a bad taste in my mouth for them..it did not. Basically the moral of the story is, the people here are super helpful, friendly and rad! read more

I discovered this little shop today after walking by it on many occasions. I am so happy that I wandered in, because Jessi had so many great gift ideas and cute practical items for kids (and adults). As really the only gift shop around, this store does not disappoint! The selection of candles, soaps, cards, and tshirts is unique and will surely please anyone on your list. The soaps are buy one give one to charity, so that made it worth $9! And the candles are all in beautiful containers with lovely scents. Truly a neighborhood staple! Ali's wagon is one of the few retail shops in Fairmount and have a very unique and creative inventory of clothes and accessories for moms and kids! I used to live in Philly and have since moved to LA but I still order from this store by phone and online because it has absolutely the best gifts ever. For every life cycle event--birthdays, weddings, new house, new baby, anniversaries, etc. The owner, Jessie, has the best taste. Mostly I just call and describe the family receiving the gift and tell her how much I want to spend and she puts together a beautiful, personalized gift for them. The baby clothes are the softest cotton I've ever felt and the personalized pottery wedding bowls are my favorite wedding gift to give (I've probably ordered 10+ over the years). This is not the cheapest store but it is the most individualized, high quality items. I'm sorry it's no longer around the corner from me, but SO GLAD I still get to use Jessie's good taste for all my gift giving! read more
