Bizarre experience. Do not recommend. I am visiting from DC and love a good children's boutique. I saw that this alleged boutique was close to our hotel, so my 4 year old daughter and I walked over to have a look. From the moment we walked in, a young woman seemed to be looking over us at every turn. It didn't dawn on me for a while that she was someone who works there, actually following me, presumably for loss prevention reasons, for the precise reason that this HAS NEVER HAPPENED TO ME EVER BEFORE IN MY LIFE! Usually sales associates flock to me because, based on the way I present myself, they know they are about to make a sizable commission. This might have made more sense if I was dressed casually or something, but I guess they see a lot of thieves wearing Hermes and diamonds? A word of advice to the staff: you sell onesies; get over yourself. Oh, and your selection is very pedestrian; get a new buyer because your sales floor looks like literal garbage. read more

Adorable little boutique, I love the name! I shopped for my beautiful god daughter, Princess Bella. She loves this cartoon with a black crow named Maggie and all things Halloween. Here in this cute little store I came across a perfect dress in a lilac color with little black birds and what looks like little witches! Another great find was a little mint long sleeved dress with a tutu featuring two little cats on it. Can't wait until I get home and give her these little gifts! My husband loved the little toy cars! read more

Born Yesterday - Children's Clothing Near Me - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

A great place in town that has lovely gifts for children and does great gift wrapping. There are so few storefronts these days it is a pleasure to be able to support local business. I go here for all of my baby shower gifts and have never been disappointed. read more

I stopped in today for gifts for a baby shower. They have adorable clothes and I found that they had items at a variety of price points. Some of the clothing is expensive but it is unique as is al of the items in this store. I loved that there were people available to help me shop as I am clueless as to baby items. They helped me pick out popular and loved items and were not pushy as all. It was I really a great experience and I'll be back! read more

Not good for buying clothing gifts. My brother bought my son some outfits for his first birthday, but the store clerk didn't recommend sizing up so my son already outgrew the clothes by the time the gift was delivered. When I tried to exchange the 12 month size for 18 month, the store refused to let us exchange sizes or even get a store credit. There are much better, more accommodating stores in the area, like The Children's Boutique, which we'll be shopping at instead in the future. read more

Highly recommend to grab a cute outfit for a special little one! I was in dire need to purchase a last minute birthday gift and felt super flustered and frustrated on the edge of giving up. But with a glimpse of hope, I came across this gem! Once I entered, I was aww'd with the adorable tiny outfits and the colorful layout of the shop. I've never purchased baby clothes but a friendly staff member recommended me several adorable styles and outfits. They also wrapped the outfits neatly in a box with ribbons as a finish. I'm fully satisfied with my experience there and highly recommend to visit this store for any last minute gifts! read more

It's pricey and i can no longer afford their adorable things. However, I bought some really awesome shirts for my nieces here. They lasted much longer than anything you could buy at gap or target as well! A great place to buy a beautiful shower gift! read more

The owner - Bruce - opened the store for my mom and I on a snowy day! When I called he happened to be stopping by the store and when he heard I was leaving town today, he offered to open the store for me!!!! Though a little pricey- you can still find good deals on sale and in the end- totally worth it for the unique items they offer! He was so nice and attentive! Helped me shop for all 3 of my kids and I left super happy and excited with all the new toys and clothes! Thank you Bruce!!!!!!!!!! Can't wait to see your spring line! read more

It was good. The staff did not acknowledge my presence- even at the register I had to ask for help to pay for my stuff, I mean COME ON-so that is why it is missing one star. The other reason it is missing another star is that the clothing is in no way affordable- but hey, if you are looking for high end items for a 1 month to seven year old this place is for you. I did buy my 6yo daughter an amazing skirt that none of her classmates better find anywhere else and a lovely sweater for my 4yo son. Then I went down the start street to Barnes and Noble to get them some affordable gifts. Good store for high end clothing for those "born yesterday." read more

I had almost forgotten about this place. When the first of my friends decided to have a baby, I came here to find something special. I probably should have been smart enough to go someplace else when I realized you have to be buzzed into the shop. Please, you're selling overpriced children's clothing, not weapons. I know, some bum from Rittenhouse Park might wander in, but you're in Philly and that is a risk most retailers are willing to take. So of course I was ignored, which is a shame for them because I had no idea what I was doing and probably could have been taken advantage of. Yes, the clothes are cute. But I know whatever I buy is going to have vomit/snot/food/dirt on it eventually and be outgrown in a month, sooooo why should I pay this much for an outfit again? (insert joke about not being BORN YESTERDAY here) They have cute toys, too, the kind that people pretend make their kids smarter. Okay, the classic wooden ones are adorable and I would probably buy one in the future if the customer service was better. read more

I was followed around the store and made to feel like I was not wanted in the store. I was looking for a particular musical instrument for my soon to be 2 year old but did not find what I was looking for. I was asked several times if there was anything else they could help me with (several times before I realized what was happening). I am a 40 year old, African American lawyer, working in Center City. Unfortunately, it took several visits to that store to realize the profiling was not just my imagination. I will make sure my friends and colleagues spend their disposable income elsewhere. read more

I had a hard time rating this store, because the contents were absolutely adorable, and speaks for itself. If you have ever been here, you obviously know that the mark up is pretty severe. That being said, you can find almost anything for that special little someone, ranging from glittery baby onesies to toddler sized Phillies' gear, it's wonderfully laid out and easy to navigate! Unfortunately, the staff is as pretentious as it gets! I walked through the door without either one of the sales girls, as much as look in my direction, much less give me the 'retail smile' and an insincere "How are you today, please let us know if you need any help" Hello, I'm pregnant! There is a strong chance that I might need help bending down to get to some of the cubby holes or reach something on a high self! But don't inconvenience yourself from your facebook apps, I'll figure it out on my own! Not really the atmosphere for a children's boutique one would expect! None of that warm and fuzzy stuff happening in here. I would shop here, but the customer service alone is simply horrendous and I would not on principal, spend any money at this place. It's a shame because a little friendliness in this day and age, truly goes a long way! On the flip side, they are not pressuring you into a sale...just a cool icy chill ripple through the store. Brrrr....Interestingly enough, it seems that I wasn't the only one ignored or had a distasteful experience, so at least they have been consistent over the years... read more

This place is a joke. I'm not even talking about the ridiculous pricing - and don't get me wrong, we shop at boutiques for our son all the time. The things at this store are crap quality and the owner is absolutely insane and follows you around the store, takes your drinks away and apparently buzzes people in sometimes so he can lock the door. This is the opposite feel of what a baby store should have. Earlier in the day we went to an art gallery - drink in hand - and found several wonderful pieces. Hailing from Manhattan I can say the level of pretentiousness is unmatched - and that's a tall order for a NYer. Ironically we come to Philly for the opposite experience of what we had here. Never again, and I hope I save you some time by not having to go there. If you do wander out or have already been - I hope you don't give on baby boutiques - they can be a wonderful experience - just not this joke of a shop. I'm glad we didn't have our baby with us - children are probably banned from this dump. read more

Super super cute. But to expensive for newborns and infants. Everyone knows that clothes at that age do not last long so if it was priced a little better I would give 5 stars. But if you're in need of a cute outfit then I would definitely try this place out. Staff is super helpful and friendly. read more

It's just too darned expensive. Yes, they have nice clothes for babies and kids. Yes, they have cute gift ideas and upscale toys. No I will not spend $256 on a wooden rocking horse nor will I spend $54 reduced from $180 on a bikini for a 2 year old. Sorry. read more

This is a store for the new breed of pretentious and guilt-ridden urban parents who leave their children for 10 hours a day in the care of a Mexican nanny. If you're lucky enough to be granted admission to this "boutique" (you have to be buzzed in) then you can spend upwards of $50 on a Motley Crue t-shirt for a 6-month old. If you're a workaholic parent that owns a $900 stroller than this store is for you!!! read more

Super cute but WAY expensive. That adorable diaper bag in the window? $168. Of course, they explain that it's "Petunia Pickle Bottoms" so apparently it's worth the money? I have no idea. Fortunately, they were having a pretty great sale and my shopping companion had a gift certificate. 75% off the clothing prices brought a cute French-made skirt/shirt combo down to a reasonable $35. Yes, you read that right. Originally $138. Granted, the skirt is so cute if it came in a 6 adult instead of a 6T I would probably buy one for myself. But $138 for a skirt/shirt combo that a five year old will probably wear for a single season? Oy. They also have the typical high end stuff -- Joe's Jeans for kids, cashmere socks, etc. The clothes are pricey but the potentially useful/handy toys and supersoft stuffed animals, including stuff from the Jellycat collection (so so so soft and possibly the cutest things ever) are priced at normal retail, so even if you can't get in on a sale day, you might still find something worth purchasing... read more

I'm a regular customer of Born Yesterday. The staff knows my children's names and always greet us with a smile. I don't know what previous yelpers are saying when they say that you have to buzz in because we have never experienced this. Maybe that's how it was a long time ago but it's not that way now. The staff has always been super helpful when we needed them, but they certainly have never been annoying and they never followed us around insistently. The store is pricey, and the mark-up is big, but it's right across from Rittenhouse Park so I guess that's to be expected. I have 2 small girls and their clothes are beautiful so we'll be back again and again. read more

This store has lots of beautiful gifts for newborns. Their selection of hand knit sweaters and booties is perfect for any "first baby gift." They have a great selection of diaper bags and baby tutus. The staff is very helpful and nice. I am not sure if I could ever afford to outfit a child here for every-day clothing, but for special occasion clothing this store is great! read more

I've seen some reviews complain about customer service and price. I just want to say I came in here one morning and was greeted by three different women, all very nice and welcoming. I actually had to get the OK from my girlfriend to spend $50 on a stuffed animal and she didn't answer the phone so I said I'd be back later. I mean if they're so terrible wouldn't that be a prime opportunity to scoff at me for leaving after standing next to this damn rainbow bird for 5 minutes on my phone like a weirdo? No they were nice and said goodbye and we're all smiles. Then guess what I came back and bought that bird. Yeah $50 is a lot but this is rittenhouse square and they have some really unique stuff. They were very nice and bagged it up with a bow, gift receipt and blacked out the price. We shared a laugh and they all wished me a great day. Couldn't ask for more! read more

Staff was very helpful and pleasant. Items are unique and beautiful. Shopping here was fun!

I love the clothes here- a great European collection. I also love their sales. So, why one star? The customer service is just obnoxious. Apparently unless you spend $200 in one sale you are barely tolerated. In addition- the last 70% sale ? If an item is $110 originally and it is 70% off that does not equal $68 and when I point that out please do not look at me like I am crazy! read more

I received a pair of pants for my son from this store. Knowing how inundated I was with newborn things, my friend bought them in a size 6 months. When my son was the right length (a whooping two months later), the waist was too snug. Unfortunately, this store has an inflexible return policy. So now I am just stuck with a pair of pants that never fit, tags in place! Baby clothes need to have a flexible return policy-you just never know when your baby is going to hit one size or when. Its absolutely a rip off not to allow for exchanges or store credit. Such a disappointment! read more

I'm no expert in the baby/children area, so I didn't know what to buy a friend who had a baby girl recently....nor do I ever know what to get for friends' babies/kids on their birthdays. (Hey I'm the fun "Aunt" Mickey...or so I'd like to think !) I stumbled upon this place while out on a stroll near Rittenhouse Square park. It's filled with children clothes, accessories, and toys. Wow. Overwhelming...lots of cute stuff, but overwhelming...at least for me. The majority of the stuff is pricy, and I kept thinking "I'm sure they (my friends) have this and that covered." The clothes racks and tables are situated to allow for 1 person to look through items hanging, etc. I was trying to be careful walking around in fear of knocking something over. I found an adorable baby towel/robe with rubber ducky set, which I thought was reasonable in price. The woman at the register asked if it was a gift, and I said yes. She immediately went to work on getting the present wrapped in tissue, placed in a box, and then tied a nice purple bow around it. It was a very nice gesture, and I didn't have the heart to say I didn't need it wrapped since I have to pack it all in a suitcase when I leave Philadelphia. Thanks anyway! read more

A decent selection for a small store. Clean store and friendly staff. You get what you pay for. The clothes are good quality so stop complaining about the prices. Don't like the prices shop and Target and compare the quality. However, I must admit this store is perfect for those making $150,000 a year or more. If you are making less than that don't shop here. Fortunately, I'm making twice that amount so shopping here and at similar stores in the area isn't a problem. In short it's not that the prices are too high it's just that your income is too low. read more

I was taken by a nice window display and decided to check out what was available for my new Goddaughter. The salesperson was attentive and polite, but once the sale was made, i got the cold shoulder as they rung me up and wrapped the gift. The 2nd sales person who was completing the purchase paid such little attention to me, she repeatedly asked me the same questions (gift receipt, etc). I was very excited to buy something for my trip to visit my family and new G*ddaughter or else I would have said forget it. It was as if once the sale was a sure thing, the charm stopped at the flick of a switch. THey didn't want to interact or even pay attention to me once they had my credit card! Actual items in the shop were pretty cool, a bit pricy, but I'd still advise a visit, but if they are not attentive or even slightly rude, WALK! read more

I come to Philadelphia to see a few friends every year who live in the area and have small children. As an "auntie" I can't come in empty handed! For the 5 and under group, there is always something cute, fun, educational, whimsical, and/or charming for any of their kiddos. The staff are incredibly friendly, and the gifts are high quality. It's pricey, hence the 4 stars, but that is likely the nature of the area and the fact that it's easy to mark up things like children's items because folks will still buy them even if they're likely to get used twice haha! read more

This is my go to place when I need a present for new baby, or anyone under the age of 10. The staff is super helpful and beyond friendly. They are the best. read more

I like this place, they have cute items but are extremely pricy. The one thing that is extremely annoying to me is the pushy attitude of the staff. I'm not sure if they're all this way though because I was only there once. The one girl with long black hair and tons of makeup kept bringing baby outfits over to me when I was looking for something specific and suggesting I buy them. After the fourth of fifth time I let her know I was looking for something specific and I wanted to search on my own and would let her know if I needed her help. She would not back off!! She kept coming over and I started simply ignoring her so she kept getting closer to me until I stepped back and literally stepped ON her. I turned around and again told her to leave me alone and if i needed something, she would be the first to know. PUSHY PUSHY PUSHY!! read more

Way too pricey but it is a cute store. $36 for a cotton one piece. I bought it years ago for my newborn niece before I had my own children. Now I know that for $36 you can get 3 to 4 cotton one-pieces. read more

I like this store for a few different reasons. I don't have kids and know nothing about them. I do have a lot of baby showers that I refuse to attend but always send a few gifts and this store because my Mom friends always give me such positive feedback. The sales associates always take me around the store and show me age appropriate gifts (like stuff a baby would like, 1 year old, 2 year old etc). I would recommend Sheila. She knows her stuff and is very helpful. I usually give her a price point and she can usually find a lot of unique items that are within budget. I've gotten everything from a Bruce Springsteen t shirt for a 1 year old to a chewy thing for teethers in the shape of a piece of bacon. I even got a bib with bacon and eggs in it (it's for a 1 year old) and another one with jewels in it for my friend's princess baby. If you want something unique and different, I would highly recommend this store. Products most loved Luvie by Jelly Cat Bruce Springstein/Bestie Boys shirts and one pieces All 3D, wipeable bibs All things bacon read more

Whenever I'm on the lookout for children's clothes/toys, this is where I go. I'm surprised there are any low reivews on here because I always have a stellar experience here and I don't fork out a million dollars. I love their decorative window displays and when you walk in, the store is much bigger than expected. They have an amazing selection of quality clothes and toys. They also have a lot of unique items that you may not find anywhere else and this makes for some great gift-giving.They're always changing and updating their stuff so I always find new things to buy. The sales staff is very welcoming and friendly. I never know what to buy because there too many cute items and I don't have any children yet. The staff are always quick to ask the right questions and help me find the perfect item(s) that fit my budget without any pressure. Definitely a cute place to check out if you need baby/children stuff. read more

this place is for the rich or for a special gift when you need one asap. since all i'm doing is the occasional gift-shopping, it serves all my needs w/ a variety of toys, clothes, accessories, etc. Last time I was there, I found a grey onesie for a boy w a nice tie attached to the collar, it was adorable! read more

Great place to buy high quality children's clothing. Employees are very friendly and helpful.

Fantastic place to find higher end clothes as gifts for babies and young kids! I was able to find unique and special clothes for infants. I also picked out special occasion clothes for my one and three year olds. Not necessarily getting their everyday play clothes here but for certain holidays & gifts, I'll be a repeat customer! Wonderful store with top quality children's clothing. Although the store may be a bit pricey the quality is definitely worth the price! The staff are super friendly, helpful, attentive, and very knowledgeable. Born Yesterday has a wide range of merchandise from newborns, toddlers, and children. I would recommend this store to all my friends because of the great quality and wide range of clothing for your little ones! read more

Went into the Walnut street store on Friday August 7, 2015, and had the worse customer experience! First the sales representative walked in front of me to look into my bag to make sure I wasn't stealing! Seriously, there are three sales people at the counter, and it took two people to wait on one customer! Bad enough the customer was ignorant the sales people are just as bad. Terrible customer service. The owner was friendly , however the other workers were not. Definitely will never be back again. One cashier said "I need to step in the back I can't listen to these babies crying" which is just RUDE. The younger coworker was also very condescending. All around an awful experience! read more

I have to say, after just leaving this store- that I've always had the complete opposite experience of those who give it poor ratings. Born Yesterday is a complete gem- you know you're not going in there for the deal of a lifetime, you're there because it's special. If anyone has ever had poor customer service, it must've been an if-y circumstance or an off day. When you have the right person helping you ( my girlfriends and I always ask for Kim when she's there- she's the gorgeous girl who knows the merchandise better than most moms and will go out of her way to make sure any problems are accommodated) it makes shopping there incredibly easy and fun for parents.
