This place really cares about you as the customer and the baby in your life. A one stop shop for all your baby needs and you know that staff is knowledgeable and committed to ethical products. Their cloth diapering workshop is great (and free) and they try to provide an unbiased look at what's available on the market (trying to look things up yourself online can be overwhelming and confusing). At this workshop you have a chance to get all your questions answered from how to wash them to pros/cons of the different materials...they really are a wealth of knowledge and have an intimate relationship with companies they carry- constantly providing consumer feedback. they have a promotion where you can try out 10 different products for 30 days to get a feel for what you/baby like. (those who attend the workshop can also get 10% off purchases done online and in person). Other services: They also help you find a carrier - bring your own baby or use their weighted baby (heavier than you think). There is a new baby/parent in person support group nearby. A thrifty mom's paradise. I believe this is hands-down the best kids consignment shop in the city limits and surrounding area, and only after one visit. The variety of second-hand clothing was great, and their staff was so helpful. I found a Merlin's sleep sack in great condition for less than $10. I found a Zippadee Zip sleep sack for $6. For comparison, those both retail brand new for around $40. Such great value! And a very well-lit, colorful store too. read more

This place had some really nice new and gently used baby gear. They carried many of the baby brands that I look for online and enjoyed getting to see them in person. They also had lots of great kids toys! My only gripe was that the sales lady was a bit rude about having our small well behaved leashed dog inside the shop. We like to walk our dog and browse the shops in the area, so that is definitely inconvenient if we can't stop in with our pup to shop around. read more

This place is amazing, friendly, helpful, and a true wallet saver. All the beautiful clothes kids grow out of so quickly and Nesting House lets you sell them back and get money towards the next size. I went in search of an inexpensive yet sturdy pack n' play and stroller. That is exactly what I found at The Nesting House: Both Graco, pretty clean, good condition, $50 total. I know nothing about kids stuff (I am buying these for out of towners to use at my house). The sales woman was very helpful. She folded and unfolded the pack n' play and made sure I knew how to do it. She showed me a few, one of which had many crazy parts to it and she hunted around the store for all the parts so I could see how the whole thing worked. She could have easily just convinced me to buy the more simple one so she didn't have to go through all the trouble, but instead she gave me great customer service. They have a combo of new and used items. The next time I need a baby gift, I am coming to this place. It feels good to support an indie store with such a good vibe. read more

This place is so quaint, and it carries great items new and used! I love having a store that is actually in philadelphia that sells cloth diapers that you can usually only find online. They even have a decent selection of used cloth diapers that are in good condition. The owner is very sweet and helpful. I called before I went and she actually browsed through the store for me while I was on the phone with her. It was excellent because when I went in I was no disappointed at all. This place is right across from the co-op meaning I'll be sucked into this little world tucked away in mt airy every time I come. SCORE! read more

Ok, so I've waited a while to update my preview review because, honestly, I wanted to make sure that the service was consistent (and I'm a major procrastinator). The store has been wonderful since my last review. I spoke to Chris, the owner, and he told me that he took my words to heart. He vowed that things had changed. They have. I've been here no less than 8 times since and I've had nothing but great customer service. It now feels like a West Mt. Airy store. I've even called on a busy Saturday looking for something specific and they took the time to look for it and hold it for me (without knowing that I'm the chick that gave the shitty review). We just had another great experience consigning at The Nesting House in Mt Airy. This is a great place to do so for a couple of reasons...They are an "environmentally minded boutique that buys & sells baby clothing, toys, accessories & furniture." It's easy! Just drop by any day of the week (20 items max) and stop/call back 4 days later or visit Tuesday morning and get paid on the spot. You can choose 50/50 of the selling price towards store credit or 60/40 cash. They take gently used seasonal items only. So now anything long sleeve, coats and jackets, hats, gloves, boots etc. I love it because you can get really great NEW gifts for your children or others in exchange for what you bring in! PLUS whatever they don't keep you can choose to take back or let them make bundles with it for those in need. It's not a ton of money, but it adds up and you can walk out with a truly great trade! Give, get or earn! They have tons of handmade, organic gems. Natural Mommy and baby bath and body products, wraps, cloth diapers, teething necklaces and rings, fantastic wooden toys all made locally and in the states. Each product states where it was handmade. They have Usborne books and Eboo games for the older kiddos which are some of our favorites! Colored pencils sets, used DVDs for $1 too. A lovely little shop. I'm writing this review for the West Philadelphia location. Let me first say....this is what West Philly needed!! I've been cloth diapering since 2009 and it was irritating to not be able to actually "touch" the products since I had to order online from other retailers since I couldn't get to a physical location. The store: Beautiful. Organized. Well put together. From cloth diapering to clothing for infants to 6T..you can get great high quality merchandise for awesome prices. I picked up baby bloomers for a $1.00! Shoes starting at $4 bucks...and we're talking great quality...(See Kai Run, PediPed, Nike) and very fashionable. The owner/manager/associate was such a joy! He was warm, inviting and very knowledgeable. I've never experienced the original location but I'm glad this one made its way over West Philly! read more

Too bad I don't live closer, otherwise I think I would be here every few days. I'm a first time mommy. I love cloth diapering and kids consignment, and this place has both!! I've heard about bringing outgrown items to trade for store credit, but I haven't utilized that service yet. I just recently found a used Quinny stroller for a great price (approximately marked down 60% off the retail price of a NEW one) and it was visibly used with a small (barely noticeable tear) at the foot area (I posted a picture of it). I am very happy with that purchase - it made my day!!! :) Otherwise, I have bought mostly cloth diaper items here, but I look forward to shopping here more and more if I can. Since we've been in the area, this has been our go-to place for baby gear. They carry a very nice range of all you can think of, especially cloth diapering. They are also community oriented - they held a national cloth diapering day this past year, which was awesome to be a part of! The only con that both my husband and I, plus a few friends have noted is on staff. The owner is so sweet! However, there have been a few times I've noticed another sales associate being a bit rude, rolling her eyes, and out right ignoring other customers. I may only be one person, but that could very well mean 20 other people feel the same way. Wish the attitude was a bit better, especially being a children's store! read more

This was my first trip to the Mount Airy store - clean, seriously clean! Amazingly organized, crisply stacked and hung clothing of all sizes. Everything a baby/child needs from head to toe with new and gently used clothing & toys. They have children's books and books for the parent to be. They offer free classes for the parent to select a baby carrier; my healthy options have changed over the years. They have strollers, a lovely highchair that can grow with your grandchild/baby, I did share that attaches to the table - what an invention! I was overwhelmed with the quality and selection. The staff was friendly and helpful, close enough to answer questions but not hovering why I made my selection. I will be back again. read more

The Nesting House is one of the best shops I've ever been to. And I don't mean just baby stores. They are so knowledgeable about their products, kind, and willing to help in whatever way they can. I have been in the store 3 or 4 times and needed a lot of guidance for cloth diapering. I'm a first time mom (expecting June 2014) and didn't know a thing and now I feel fully prepared for diapering when our little one comes. They also have the BEST prices. Their consignment goods are fantastic. I've bought a number of onesies and clothes for the baby at great prices and just bought a Fisher Price baby swing that's normally $160, for only $50! And, I couldn't find a better deal on cloth diapers than at The Nesting House. They give you discounts for bulk purchases and not even Amazon, Target, or Babies R Us could compare. I used to live in Mt. Airy and have since moved about 30 minutes away, but this store is worth the drive in every way. read more

I've been to the Collingswood location as well and i seem to favor this original location. It's so out of the way but I always leave with so much stuff for a bargain! I have been able to score a handful of clothing for my girl by Janie and Jack, Ralph Lauren, and Gap to name a few. Everything that i have taken home are in near new condition and for a fraction of the retail price. I would highly suggest coming here especially since babies outgrow their clothes with the blink of an eye. You can definitely stretch your dollars here. My new fav place! As an environmentally conscious first time mom it's great to be able to visit the nesting house to drop off gently used items as well as to stock up on cloth diapers & accessories. (reduce reuse recycle!) My first visit, I bought some Flip diaper stay dry inserts at a reduced, bulk price & a cutesy baby boy hat for 2 bucks. Very pleased with my purchases. Second visit, I bought in several pieces of newborn clothing, they accepted onesies, pants, and a couple unused winter outfits I bought in. One of the owners, Jen I believe was very friendly and advised they are always happy to accept boys' clothing (hint hint) With my store credit, which was a generous amount ($29) for what I'd bought in, I purchased a Chicco infant carseat for $35!! Great way to get rid of things we didnt need and to find something we did. I was all smiles that day. Lastly, I'm also looking forward to joining the working moms' group. I also came here for a cloth diaper workshop, and I really appreciated the moderate, evidence-based attitude regarding childcare. The Nesting House has been an awesome resource for us. As a first time mother of a six month old, we have been able to purchase all sorts of adorable outfits and useful baby gear at reasonable prices. We have also been able to bring in our daughter's outgrown clothes etc and receive store credit/cash in exchange. It is great to feel that the things we have outgrown will be reused rather than just disposed. We have also met all sorts of friends at the new moms' group and the baby play group. Love having this place in the neighborhood! It's been very convenient for dropping in for sudden needs without having to drive all over the world. If you're into cloth diapering, it also has a pretty solid selection which is hard to find in this town. And See Kai Run shoes! We ran in the other day when my toddler wore a hole in his old softer shoes and found lots in stock, plus a sale on sandals. Couldn't get any easier than that! I think prices for new stuff are moderate (same as anywhere else), then there's a solid selection of consignment stuff that I'm guessing is inexpensive, although I haven't browsed. read more

This place is wonderful. I get pretty much all of my sons clothes here and their prices are so reasonable - much better than any of the other consign/resale places I go and they give you a great rate for store credit which you can use on anything in the store. I also love that they have cloth diapering supplies - even Charlies' soap for laundering the diapers. I tell all my friends with kids to go here - and new moms can even do a registry so you can support local while getting great gifts like cloth diapers, organic cotton baby clothes, and locally made mobiles and adorable clothes. read more

Awesome, just awesome! If you are a new mom, get to the Nesting House ASAP! I took an informative (free) cloth diaper workshop here, which really took away my fears about cloth diapering. I love the fact that you can bring in clothing and gear and get store credit. As such, I haven't had to pay for any of my son's clothes since he's been born. When he outgrows stuff, I take a bag to TNH and then buy him gently used clothes with the credit I receive. Plus, any items the store doesn't take are donated to charity. The new items in the store are great, too! Don't know what I would do without TNH! read more
