Stump is definitely my go to plant store in NoLibs/Fishtown! They have so many different varieties of houseplants, succulents as well as air plants. The workers are so kind, always greet you with a warm smile and very knowledgeable in plant care, whether you're a beginner or expert! I know they do various workshops with other small businesses, I have yet to go but want to desperately! I also love looking at their other merch, often 3D printed pots from small artists. The majority of my plants are from Stump as well as air plants (with seashell covers to make it look like an octopus) & I love getting my soil from them. Will be back many times again in the future, thank you Stump! read more

Excellent plant shop that is also a chain in Philadelphia. Although not a big place and not a ton of selection of plants, they do offer unique plants as well as other little small gifts like stickers. On Sundays they often invite local small businesses to share their space and promote their products. I've gotten delicious cookies from here on one of those days. I love the tarot reader that stops by from time to time, excellent cooperation idea. I do suggest you all to visit the south Philly location as well. Not sure why they don't have a yelp page of their own despite ppl trying to add it time and time again. read more

Quaint plant shop and plant accessory boutique with a great selection. I came here during the Northern Liberties pop-up event and had such a good experience. I asked for advice on how to save my struggling fiddle leaf fig and got genuinely helpful, thoughtful guidance. I followed the advice the very next day and honestly think they were spot on. The service was wonderful, and they even offered to help me repot the plant to figure out what might be going wrong. This really feels like the kind of place you want to support. Knowledgeable, kind, and clearly passionate about plants. read more

I visited recently after a hiatus from owning plants after previously investing quite a lot of money into plants that died very quickly, bought from another establishment that refused to answer my emails or help me after-the-fact (and which has since gone out of business.) I came in and was very upfront about wanting to spend a small amount for a nearly indestructable plant. The owner Jess was incredibly kind and patient despite making a minimal monetary transaction, and based on this interaction alone I will be returning for more plants down the line. The shop itself is quite twee and delightful, with a great selection of succulents and gifts that don't scream "you could get this stuff anywhere", which I appreciate. read more

It's a nice shop with quality plants. They also support other small businesses with weekend pop-ups. I've gotten plants for me, gifts for others, some nice pots, and even cute. magnetic little vases for propagating from clippings. Staff are happy to talk about plants and plant care and seem knowledgeable. Love that they are conveniently located for me. read more

Service is amazing. They are willing to ask any questions. The selection of plants are very good. And the prices aren't too high and completely worth it. They even give information cards on how to take care of your plant as far as sun and watering. read more

Stump is everything that I thought it would be and more. I'm a newbie to the plant world and I wanted to try my hand with nurturing one (hopefully graduate to a few). Ava, at Stump was helpful from the start! I explained that I am interested in getting my first (serious) plant for my place. She asked questions about sunlight in my home and such. I appreciated her advice about starting off with a plant that I can learn from. I purchased the Philodendron Brasil. Very beautiful plant. Looks healthy and great in my apartment! Stump: will answer questions in the store and/or on their Instagram's DMs, received a handwritten care instruction for my plant, they repot your plant(s) for free (even in your own pot), etc. Their services will come in handy for someone like myself; starting out. Plants add such great value to a home. Stump is a great place for your plant needs. read more

This is such a cute place to buy plants. It has been a while since I came to Northern Liberties, but the amount of new apartments being built are kind of scary. This also means there are lots of constructions, detours, traffics, etc. Parking is not easy. Fortunately, I walked here as a form of my pandemic exercise so I did not have to worry about parking. Anyway, during this Covid time they only allow 6 customers in the store, which is a good thing because it is not a large store. They have different plants I have not even seen or heard before. The prices seem a bit higher than big boxed stores like Lowe's or Home Depot, but all the plants looked so healthy and well taken care of. I specifically wanted a low light plant, and the one employee in the store seemed very knowledgeable about which plants are good for low lights. With each plants purchase it comes with an information card telling you how often to water, and the lightings. I would definitely come back to get some more plants here! read more

I am a newbie to the plant mom world but stump made me feel more confident. I decided that I wanted a large plant for my living room (like a little tree) and I needed someone to walk me through a sensible choice (despite my googles I just wasn't sure and large plants can get pricey). The staff here spent half an hour answering my questions (I had quite a list and made up a bunch on the fly), made lots of recommendations and eventually I went home with a lovely little plant family. They gave me some explicit care cards (what needs to be watered with filtered water, how often, what kind of light, etc). I also think their plants are very reasonably priced and the quality is lovely. You can tell they really care about the plants, cleaning the leaves carefully of my plant-kids-to-be while I searched for my wallet. They helped me carry my bulky and heavy finds to my car and strap it into the seat (lol, I'm not kidding) and told me I could slide into their instagram dms if I ever needed advice...I definitely will be needing advice. You can also get some lovely minimalist ceramic planters to complete your aesthetic. I will say though, this isn't the place to get advice about flowering plants, or even outdoor plants. They were pretty upfront with me about this. read more

Loved my experience at Stump! I stumbled upon this store after brunch one day. Ava is amazing! She is very knowledgeable. I ended up purchasing 3 plants and a pot, everything was of great quality. Passed by this store many times and thought it was cute. One day I stumbled in and they have an amazing plant selection and vessels for the plants. The staff was very helpful, provided written care instructions and even repotted my plant! They also supposedly sell the same planters as Anthropologie at a much less expensive price. I will definitely return! read more

Absolutely love! I had a great time in this store and would highly recommend. Loved seeing variations of what I would normally run into, but in a BIG and healthy size. No plant looked sun burned, over/under watered, and humidity in store was light fresh and airy. 10/10 would highly recommend read more

Such a great little plant shop, with a wonderful, healthy assortment, fair prices, a constant rotation, and a really friendly and knowledgeable staff! Granted, if you're like us and have more questions than answers in regards to plants, it might feel like it's hard to get time with the staff during busy times. They'll get to you, but it could take a while when there's only 1 person working. Regardless, I still can't hold that against the place. The staff is super patient with customers, and it's nice to see them taking the time to educate and help customers instead of rushing everyone along. Just plan on your trip taking a little longer than you might expect. The only thing I wish they offered was delivery, so we could purchase some of their larger trees/plants. I know a few other shops will offer delivery for $10 or so to help those of us without cars who want something large/heavy. Otherwise, it's perfect! read more

I wish that STUMP was in my neighborhood, although being a member of PHS, I got to check them out at The PHS Winter Bazaar. I had been wanting a Ficus Tree for quite some time, not having the greatest luck with cuttings from friends, so when I saw this beautiful, well gorgeous Ficus Tineke on the table for $22, including ceramic pot, I was in love but I didn't want to shell that out. Anyways, I got about as far as PHS's door when I almost RAN back to the STUMP table eagerly anticipating whether or not they had sold the beautiful Ficus in my 10-15 minutes of my careful consideration. I was so glad that it was still there and realizing then what a great deal this was for such a beautiful and amazing plant, I happily paid for my Ficus Tineke and felt like I just won the lottery, the plant lottery that is! This Ficus is clearly the most beautiful plant in my home! None of my other 15 plus plants just stack up, this one has such a special place in my heart. The leaves look almost hand-painted, they are huge, healthy leaves like a bear's paw! Everyone who I have spoken with on the phone has been incredibly helpful, kind and knowledgeable. They'll even let you text them concerns or questions and you can email them. They even provide you with an instruction sheet! My only suggestion would be that I like the cute pot, but I wish that it had a drainage hole. I recently repotted it because I prefer pots with drainage holes. All in all, it was a great experience, in person and over the phone. I wish that they had a Center City location because I would be all in! read more

In a word - we are addicted. Until late this summer, we had nothing besides a few herbs growing in pots by the window and my Aerogarden (which I load up with basil pods since I use so much basil here). We now have like 30 plants - many of which have come from this shop. Not only do they have an amazing selection of plants - they also have fabulous planters and pots - I just love the style of everything they bring in. The staff - usually the one guy - is awesome. Couldn't be nicer and more helpful. They are patient with questions - even when they are getting busier. When you buy a plant and pot, they also plant it for you and will even discuss the plant care with you. This makes becoming a new plant parent much easier. This week alone, I think we were there two or three times. Even though they are only open Wednesday thru Sunday, the 7p hours most days they are open (Sundays they close a bit earlier) can work for even someone working more traditional hours, too. If you are in the market for some great plants to brighten up your home, I would highly recommend STUMP. There's a strong change you'll see us in there if you become as addicted as we are, too. There are worse habits to have, I suppose! read more

I happened across STUMP by chance while taking a stroll from my hair appointment up the block (DNA Salon - also highly recommend!). I was raised with home vegetable gardens and fruit orchards, my love for gardening goes back way before Pinterest. I was so impressed with the selection and quality of plants! Despite the space being on the smaller side the ambience was calming and the whole experience relaxing (there were 3 other patrons during my trip and there was no crowding, bumping, feeling cornered etc). The staff were attentive and knowledgeable. I loved selection of pots--standard clay in every size imaginable and ceramics sourced from local Philadelphia pottery artists. I bought a small plant and one of the aforementioned handcrafted pots. I was shocked at how affordable it was (small/medium + handmade pot all under $25). Without even asking an associated repotted my purchase with quality soil and appropriate water. Because it was a gift for my fiancé, they made sure to write the plant instructions that a novice gardener could follow. We love the addition to our dining room table--my fiancé said it's one of the best gifts I've ever given him! Will definitely be back and back and back again! read more

STUMP is my absolute favorite plant spot in Philly. Aside from stocking a wide variety of the most beautiful plants in many different ages/stages in growth, the manager and staff are very kind. Half of the joy of shopping at both west philly and northern liberties locations is the high level of customer service and genuine, friendly conversation. STUMP will repot any plant for you, hand-write personalized care cards, and answer just about every question under the sun. The plants in stock are healthy and well taken-care of, I've purchased about 15 over the last year and they've grown beautifully. I can't resist stopping by while on walks just to see their newest arrivals and say hello, I highly recommend paying them a visit next time you're in the neighborhood. read more

I visited Stump in September. The store attendant was very helpful with picking out houseplants for my apartment. I liked the atmosphere and the selection of plants. Stump - Little plant baby from Stump. - Home Decor Near Me - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Plant people are the new cat ladies and I am making the transition. STUMP is on the small side but their selection and variety is great. Plants of all shapes and sizes are available and I enjoyed the light and airy feel of the space while I browsed. The vibe in there is one I would like to create in my home and buying some greenery from there has certainly helped. Being new to the plant game, I need guidance when expanding my plant family. The folks at STUMP were more than happy to do that. I picked a few potential purchases and then walked up to one of the friendly sales folks and told them what my house, lighting and habits were like. They helped me narrow my options to those that I was least likely to kill based on the info that I provided. They were also nice enough to write some instructions on a card for me to take home. 3 weeks later and I am happy to say my new additions are flourishing. I can't wait to go back to get some more. read more

This store isn't huge but they have a pretty nice selection of house plants. You can buy smaller plants for average prices or you can buy very mature beauties for a larger price tag. The staff are nice but I wouldn't call them chatty and this store always seems to have popular plants in stock.
