I didn't think this type of store existed outside of Center City, so I'm glad to see it annexed on Penn's bookstore! It's a little in the cut on Sansom, but there's a lot packed in here. Unlike a lot of gift shops with similar knick-knacks, I didn't feel completely overwhelmed by the sheer amount of products. Sure, you can buy a bunch of Philly regalia or just a new pair of earrings, but you can tell a lot of thought went into the displays and making use of the wider space (certainly a trait of West Philly establishments). I can't say it's exactly -unique- since this concept of store is pretty popular and most shops in this vein end up at the same wholesale shows, but I was pleased with the price of a lot of the things here. Even if you're not in the mood to buy anything, even window shopping is a treat if you're in the neighborhood!

Hello world is a small knick knack shop that had affordable and less affordable items haha. The good: they have so many different little things too choose from so you are almost assured to find something that will catch your eye The bad: Cost varies with some things being affordable and others not. They have some really nice posters near the door that are only $6 but they are an awkward 20 x 28 which makes it difficult to find a good frame =/. Also the hours are pretty restricted being open only 10-5.

So in love with this store! I walked by last Saturday night and saw this diagram of the skull hanging on the wall and was obsessed! The store was already closed so I returned the next day to purchase. The woman working told me exactly what frame they used and wrote it down for me and I went immediately to Ikea and purchased it. I recently bought my first home and there are so many cute home goods in this store I will most certainly be back for many more purchases!

    Cutie onesies!

Great shop for picking out cute and affordable gifts. The salesman was friendly and helpful, and knew exactly what I was looming for.

We shopped their 20th street store and the Center City store which closed - they are still worth the trip now that they have consolidated.

This same woman has been rude/ unfriendly to me on multiple occasions. I usually never leave the store without spending at least $100. When I told her the crackers I bought yesterday for a dinner party were expired she just looked at me with a fake smile and said she had them recently and that is how they are supposed to taste. I spent three months in Italy and never have I tasted something so stale. I was explaining to her how awful they were and no I would not like another bag. She just kept saying I'm sorry and smiling. No refund, and unwilling to say the customer is right. Will not be returning there.

Another cool experience in Philadelphia. I am loving this city!…read more My husband and I received a gift certificate to Cook as a wedding gift and we didn't realize how quickly the events book up. Holy snikees! You have to literally log on to their website the minute the classes are posted and reserve a spot immediately. We got married in May and have been trying to use our gift certificate ever since. It was worth the wait! Our event was hosted by The Royal Chef (Darren McGrady). He cooked for 5 US Presidents in addition to the Queen of England and her family. Needless to say, he didn't disappoint. Not only was the food he created fantastic, but he was personable and super funny. There were 16 people total (which is the max for the space) and we enjoyed observing Darren and learning new techniques. The wrap-around counter ensures that eveyone has a bird's eye view. We loved every minute of it. Our menu included: - Blueberry, Feta and Kale Salad - Chili and Garlic Crusted Shrimp with Double Cheese Grits - Minute Steaks with Blue Cheese, Caramelized Onions, and Cannellini Bruschetta - Sticky Toffee Pudding with Clotted Cream The staff at Cook is top-notch. Never an empty wine nor water glass, and plates were delivered and cleared with the quickness. It was a casual, social, and fun setting. This is not a hands-on culinary event, rather, this is an event where you sit back, relax, and watch your chef work their magic. You don't have to lift a finger and that's the way I like it! You can purchase kitchen gadgets and goodies at this location at a 15% discount on the day of your event. Cook offers something for everyone. Some of the events are pricey, but there are some that are more budget-friendly. Check it out and be sure to work those quick-typing fingers to reserve a fun class fast!

I called Jason just after looking up well-reviewed DC contractors on Yelp. In short, another contractor has been in default of my contract with him and has not delivered on a very large and expensive project. After getting fed up I looked into my legal options and also other contractors to finish the work I've started. Despite my calling him totally unsolicited on a Friday evening, Jason talked with me for nearly a half hour about the multitude of options available to me to protect myself against this contractor, how to press him into action, how to ensure he gets the work done, and much more. I cannot express how much he put my mind at ease compared to the way I'd been feeling just a few minutes before our call. I hope to update this review someday with info on work we've done together, but for now that's what I'm able to share.

Installation was efficiently done, as explained to us ahead of time, and the site was cleaned up, to include patching up the wall. Jason is very knowledgeable about setting up the proper operation of the Nest on both our smartphones, as well as the rebates we can apply for, which is also very helpful. We have more projects we're asking Jason to help us with, we are enthusiastically satisfied!
