Loved this place so much I felt like I had to write a review! If you are a little trinket girlie, this place will be your heaven. There are so many incredible gifts (for yourself or others)- everything from pop culture keychains, jewelry, fun candles, claw clips, little coin purses. The store is organized really well- there's a baby section, a Philly gift section, a jewelry section, and others. I was really surprised at how reasonably priced most things were, too! What a pleasant surprise this was. I stumbled upon this by happenstance as I was heading back from my future place of employment in Philly. It looked like a charming little bookshop from the outside but on the inside it wasn't that at all. It was like a wonderland of Knick knacks and cute finds and accessories and home goods. I liken it to being very similar to a Francesca's store. As I walked further into the store, I happened on some more unique and interesting finds, even an area that had spiritually related items. They had a ton of candles, really cute and pretty candles and I'm such a sucker for candles it's horrible. I had to refrain from buying one. I did settle on getting a keychain, a rose quartz stone, and a ceramic stone that had an inspirational quote engraved on it. I love stores that have things with motivational items that evoke positivity and encouragement. On my way out, I saw a wall with all of these one-of-kind greeting cards and that and made heart smile (which is what it says on the stone that I bought ^_^) Me happening upon a wall of greeting cards is like a kid in an ice cream shop. It means pure joy to me as I love greeting cards. Letter writing is a dying art that needs to be brought back and it's nice to know boutique stores like this one carry them. I'm sure if I had more time to peruse through them, I would have found some pretty great ones. Will I be back?...yes...1000%. Where some people fancy Dolce & Gabbana and Prada, I like hole-in-the-wall knick knack stores with glitter pens and carefully curated candles. They give off good energy, not that D&G doesn't, but home goods like these are a fraction of a cost and were mot made in a factory but with tender loving care by passionate artisan individuals. This is such a cute shop nestled in the heart of Center City! You can find some great PHL goodies that you wouldn't be able to at more generic locations or at the airport. I randomly stumbled into this shop when I was in the area waiting for happy hour to start. The store is very cute and great for both locals and tourists alike. There are a lot of cute and unique Philadelphia memorabilia along with other trendy gadgets that make for a great souvenir or thoughtful gift. They have a lot of amazing trinkets, tumblers, and bags. Loved the selection. I got a huge Cardi B candle that's going to look great in my room. They also have masks, stickers, pins, and shirts. They have almost anything you can think of that'll look nice decoration wise and for a gift. This is definitely a place I'll visit again if I'm in Philly. The only downside is that the employees seemed like zombies, besides the hello when walking in, it was very quiet and the atmosphere seemed off. Didn't have as many touristy things despite being advertised as such. A lot of the negative reviews were about the staff. Though we were greeted, I didn't stay long enough to comment or experience any rudeness. The one person I did ask a question to just answered and that's it. The thing that I don't understand here is the pricing. Not sure how they came up with gold colored plastic keychains to be $18, thick stone like magnets to be $8, and a pride umbrella to be over $26! None of these looked good enough for me to want to buy so I wasn't too bummed when I saw the prices. But it was enough for me to leave. I'm a tourist and only looking for cheap touristy things like a keychain that costs $0.50 to make but priced at $4. read more

I've been a fan of this store ever since I moved to Philadelphia a couple years ago. I always pop in when I'm looking for a unique gift for a loved one or myself. The employees always act cold towards me and and I often get followed around the (cozy or cramped) store. They have a great variety of things and it's not too expensive. read more

About 20-30% of my Christmas gifts for family and friends this year came from Open House. I really could have found something for anyone in that store. Fun, unique and quirky gifts were purchased for my brother, and I found the most perfect travel book for my boyfriend's parents, who are always jetting off to another exotic locale. The prices are definitely high, though I still felt they were fair for most items. I saw some things that could be found cheaper at a Homegoods type of store, but I wasn't really there for those types of things anyway. We were in the city and had to kill time so we stopped by here. This store is adorable. It has so many cute little things like succulent plant, candles, novelty books, backpacks and so much more. While checking out, my purse zipper got caught on a ziplock bag I had inside of it. Well, the 2 girls behind the register were kind enough to use their several tools to fix my jammed zipper. It took them a good 20 minutes and my purse was finally fixed! I know this has nothing to do with what this store sells but kindness really goes a long way and these 2 woman had that and so much more. Thank you. I think one of them was named Francis. read more

OMG, This is one of my favorite boutiques in Philly. You can find a gift for anyone on your list and get something unique for yourself as well. They got everything from home accessories, untraditional silverwares, pretty accessories, funny gifts to Philadelphia themed gifts and prices are reasonable. I love supporting local businesses. Open House is a great local business offering great gifts of good quality for family, friends, and yourself. It is owned by the same women who own neighborhood gems including Jamonera and Little Nonna's. Open House has everything from home decor to cards to jewelry to ironic art to drink flasks. This is the souvenir shop to take your out of town friends to! The shop is filled with lots of Philly and PA memorabilia with a more modern twist. Instead of boring shirts with the live sign, you can get a eco friendly water bottle printed with symbols of each of Phillys neighborhoods. The stuff here looks so good, I wouldn't even mind getting some for myself. If, for whatever reason, you don't want to proudly represent the best city in America, there are plenty of other great items to get. This store was too much fun. The first thing that caught my eye were these 80s office name plates with funny stuff on it. But as I walked through the store, I found so many interesting things especially for babies. I loved the onesies of Philly and one that said "silently judging you". I bought these cute socks with giraffe heads that made noise. There were so many decorative things for parties or for at home. I also liked this body cream that they carry there. Open House is a cute boutique located right on 13th Street, surrounded by some of the best restaurants in the city. It's the best place to shop for gifts, with a variety of cute trinkets, many of which are local! The prices are very reasonable, and the staff is really friendly. I could honestly spend forever browsing their goods - they have everything from jewelry to baby clothes to stationary to tote bags. There's something for everyone! They also carry one of my most favorite, highly indulgent gift I give myself whenever I need a pick me up: Votivo candles. The Red Currant and Rain fragrances are amazing...and buying a pricy candle at this shop just makes me feel a little better (until I get my credit card bill and I feel like an idiot for paying $26 for a freakin' candle...but I digress). I never write reviews, but feel compelled to for Open House. I live in the area so I'm in this little shop a few times a week to check out the new cool stuff. I purchased a necklace, that has since become one of my favorites, a few months back, but it recently broke. Not sure what happened, I didn't pop it or snag it, but nevertheless it broke. So I called and spoke to one of the managers who told me to swing by so she could take a look. Well she offered to replace it with no charge. I probably could have gotten it fixed, but the fact that the business stood behind their product really impressed me. Aside from all the cool stuff, this is yet another reason to love this spot. Gorgeous little store, filled to the gills, full of treasures, big and small for all your gifting needs (and for gifting yourself too! I'm of the retail philosophy of : One for you, one for me or rather, more for me?) Either way, the little store is chock-full of handmade jewelry, non-touristy Philly stuff (check out their cute tee-shirts, homewares, art, coffee mugs, baby onesies, and canvas bags), kitchen accoutrements (lovely dinnerware, bowls, appetizer plates, etc) and homewares (coasters, candles, pendant lamps, table lamps, rugs, bath accessories). Perfect place for hostess/host gifts. They also manage to carry a large amount of stationery and cards (some letterpress), furniture, cute bags of all sizes (most importantly, they feature sell Orla Kiely bags and Orla Kiely luggage!) and they have a baby section that is so cute it makes my uterus hurt. They always carry a great selection of holiday items too, decor, cards and adorable wrapping paper - it's really a one-stop shop. I could do all my holiday shopping here if left to my own devices (and no budget -ha!). Prices are average to a bit expensive, but there aren't many a stores in the city that carry such a varied and unique inventory as this place. read more

This store stands out from other boutiques of its kind because of how well curated its stock is. Yes, I said curated. As though outfitting a small gem of a museum, the buyers have crafted a selection of meticulously selected jewelry and home decor pieces that make the store feel like a spread from Elle Decor - the gold standard in decorating magazines. I noticed neoprene lunch totes by BuiltNY, double-walled glassware by Bodum, and a variety of candles I wanted to buy just to keep the pretty botanical screen-printed glasses they came in. On a previous trip to Philly I had picked up beautiful earrings here that were spun from a golden wheat. My last trip had me admiring a silver jewelry tree set with small sparrows perched on its boughs. I wish I knew an infant so I could've bought the toddler's onesie that said 'Nobody Puts Baby in a Corner'. The store loses a star because it is pricey and I didn't see much on sale, but otherwise I commend the owners for putting together a shop with a veritable cornucopia of gift possibilities. read more

What a nifty little shop for little nifty gifts. Say that 5 times fast. You can't. Don't worry though because you only need to come here to see the nifty gifts, not say rhymes about them. I love this store because they have things for all events from new babies to new houses and new loves. The prices are a bit higher, but the products they have are not often found in other stores. I especially love their Philly stuff throughout from onesies to coasters to glasses and tees. I dream of a day when I can afford their Jonathan Adler salt and pepper shakers - it is a small dream I know but they would look so cute anywhere. This is another great place to shop for gifts. You could really find something for anyone here, although it does heavily favor the young urbanite population. There are a lot of nature-themed items, I noticed a lot of owls throughout the shop because I'm very into owls this year. This is a great place to shop for a house-warming gift, they stock cute decorative items. They also have nice, modern furniture and pretty art pieces. Very nice baby items as well, including onesies, dishes, Ugly Dolls, blankets, and the cutest bunny hair brush set ever. I don't actually like babies, I came here for a baby shower gift, but I totally wanted the bunny brushes. And although they have cool and trendy stuff, if you're gonna want a large selection and not have to go to two stores. I love this store. My house is a testament to this store. Any friend I drag into Open House becomes a fan. From gifts to decor to baby clothes to furniture (Roost recycled wood tables!) to glassware to jewery (check out Brookadelphia), Open House has an amazingly well curated selection. It's quirky, it's earthy, it's tongue-in-cheek, but above all, it's beautiful. Also, it doesn't hurt that the staff are so goshdarn friendly and helpful! I had a mirror crack (not due to a manufacturing glitch or anything like that) and they had an extra piece lying around that they weren't going to ever use and gave it to me free of charge! Indeed, I stopped in yesterday and purchased a "banner bag" (recycled bags made from banners that used to hang from cener city light poles) for a birthday gift. If you are looking for unique items, this store should be in your rotation. But be prepared to spend at least 20 minutes just meandering and checking out the wares. Let's be honest, though -- I usually end up buying gifts for myself at Open House. It is THE place to go for stuff you don't need. I've purchased jewelry, furniture, candles, handbags, kitchen items.
