And they get calls all the time from people trying to place their lunch order but mixing up the shop and the restaurant so we finally had to check out the food one day craving some nachos and on the hopes to find some 5 star worthy creation from verde after reading many reviews. We were not disappointed to arrive to a tucked in joint up 28th street serving some Mexican specialities. We ordered some nachos and fundido dip with shredded beef the first time and lucked out on some chorizo the next when they had it in. Not sure which was our favorite. The nachos are queso dip are always a winner and our first time trying the tacos was not disappointing. We smacked on the ahi tuna tacos and Assada fundido, each had a nice uniqueness of their own and finished off the meal with a churro waffle and amazing icecream on top that might be the next best thing. So, what can I say. VERY Bad food. I have been eating tacos around boulder for the past three weeks visiting and... ordered chips and queso which was in need of something thick and flavorless... preceded to order 3 tacos all of which came out cold, the Shrimp with cabbage was tasteless and hard... the pork belly was so covered in BBQ sauce and hot peppers it want overpowered by the condiments... then that steak taco was almost flavorless cooked on the grill with no seasoning... my friend I was with took one bite, picked through another taco with a fork and set the plate on the table next to us... paid 40 dollars for 6 tacos with queso and felt like I was totally taken for a ride... also, gave them the "yelp" coupon of a free order of Churros with meal and they never delivered... left feeling sad... Been in Colorado for a 10 day vacation. This has been my favorite meal by far. I originally got a drink I didn't like, and the server was happy to switch it out with a margarita I very much enjoyed (the Selena). The tacos are filling and very flavorful. This place is over priced garbage. I got a California burrito with chicken and queso. In percentage terms, about 80 percent of the burrito was potatos. In summary, I paid 15 dollars for a potato burrito. The chicken constituted about 5 percent of the total. The rest was cheese. About 2 percent was guacamole and Salsa. This is not Mexican food. This is food that fools you into thinking its Mexican food. My wife got a cheese enchilada. It was a plate of undercooked cheese. About 5 percent sauce and 2 small corn tortias. The other people who liked this place do not know Mexican food, or any sort of quality food, or don't care what they eat for the price. It would be one thing if the food was 6 dollars a plate, but one will pay 12$ min for something that is worth in quality for 6$. I hope you go to a better "Mexican" food place than this. If your looking for a young college atmosphere with lower than mediocre food this is your place. I won't be going here again. read more

Don't go here if you have heartburn. We were not warned about certain items such as the salsa being extremely spicy. The other items we ordered (fajitas, nachos, & tacos) were good, however I'd be careful with asking what exactly is on everything. (The tacos came with the spicy salsa.) I'm very good with spicy foods but these were a little over the top. My wife and I had horrible experience here. Unfortunately, it seemed to be due to their head chef quitting two days before we came in. It started with the chips... Looked and tasted like low grade taco seasoning was on them. The chili relleno was so thick with batter it was like eating sand. The menu also described it as being "stuffed with cheese"... I didn't see any cheese until the very middle. My wife had the cheese enchilada. You would think that would be hard to mess up. It was the worst I have ever tasted. My wife sent it back. Just did a second trip to this restaurant and I liked it way more the second time around. The chips were so much better this time! I think someone had forgotten to salt them last time or something crazy like that. The drinks here are really tasty. I had a coin Margarita and it was just right. The waiter even offered my friend a little extra lime juice to add to her ice to soak up those last bits of tequila. Nice service! I had the carnitas taco, crispy, and a chicken taco, not crispy, and I really enjoyed my meal. The black bean salad was also a hit at my table as well as the fresh salsas and guac. So... a meal for two people here cost $30+ for mid-range quality Mexican. Most Mexican restaurants serve free chips and salsa, cheese ect, this place charges extra for everything. Worse, the server did nothing to inform me of additional costs. I would not have ordered what I did had I realized how much extra money they where going to charge. I definitely enjoyed my experience at Verde! I love the vibe of this place. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. I had the California burrito and it was fantastic. I highly recommend it. It's not too spicy and has a lot of flavor...not to mention it's huge! I took at least half of it home. My husband ordered the Carne Asada burrito. It was equal in size, but definitely spicier- so beware if you order it! Although we didn't, you can get your burrito deep fried with guac and sour cream on top! We shared the Mexican street corn and rice as sides. The rice was okay, but the corn was phenomenal. The jalapeño cream is quite spicy, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I would definitely order it again. We also shared the chicken nachos during happy hour. The plate is huge. The shredded chicken is delicious! While I loved the ambience and decor at Verde, the food and service was seriously lacking. My friend and I sat at the bar during lunch and ate tacos and a black bean salad with shrimp. The shrimp was undercooked and the tacos were burnt. The bartender was nice but running around so busy and stressed it was hard to be relaxed during our meal. When it came time leave, it took us so long to even get her attention for the check even though we were literally right in front of her and there were only a handful of tables still seated. We came here on a Monday night for dinner and had a fantastic meal! The space is not huge but there is was no wait and the staff were all friendly and fast. We had some chips and salsa, which is house made and scrumptious, followed by burritos. We both opted to have them smothered in their green salsa and WOW, what a kick this stuff has! It was so delicious, but a little spicy - next time I may keep it on the side. I had the carne asada burrito while my hubs had the carnitas. Both were super-tasty, but I definitely made the best choice since the steak was mouthwatering! We were too full to try their chocolate strawberries for dessert, but next time I'll save room. In fact we want to get back soon to try the Mexican corn, and the cheese crisp. You have to love a place that has so many great sounding items on the menu that you're planning your 2nd trip before you've even finished your first meal - am I right? I used to love this place, but apparently you can ONLY go to their restaurant or to businesses of their immediate neighbors when you park there, and not go ANYWHERE else outside of your car. So, my 'nails and lunch' errand-hour turned into a nails-lunch-pay a $100 boot fee because I saw NO signage before parking (posting signs as you enter the shared lot off 28th street is great, because clearly you read those when you're concerned about a truck bearing down on your tailgate), and no one at either business warned me about this. Pretty cool, since I've been going to the Verde Truck for ages, and that $100 would have been food and gas for my commute. Thanks for helping out a working mom, guys. You will never get my business again and I'll be sure to let all my other friends in town know how 'nice' you like to be to people who try to park in one spot to run two errands. The service here was good. Very nice and helpful. However, the food was very disappointing. We ordered the California Burrito, and it was 95% potato. Despite the excess in the filler, the potatoes were awful. They were all dried out and tasted like they had been left out all day. They messed up my husband's order TWICE the first time he went, but he said the wrong thing was still tasty so whatever. Our waiter today had to double-check our order a few minutes after taking it because he'd forgotten a couple details, so it seems like they may have some issues with getting everything right. I stumbled upon Verde in early 2016 and was incredibly impressed with the service, kindness of staff, and bomb ass coin margartia. Most people don't actually use cointreau in their coins, which is what makes it a coin, but Verde has got it. Go for the ahi taco or the fish, both are delicioso. Moving to Boulder has been interesting. I read reviews of places and see that everyone loves Mexican food but I have yet to find good Mexican food anywhere. All these trendy Mexican or more so taco places are everywhere and the prices for the food is laughable. Go to San Diego or AZ and you can buy a delicious burrito for $6, sure you won't have the trendy setting that Verde offers but its not worth the price of their food. We ordered food to go because they are one of the only places who offers a California burrito, but it's $12.50. We got home and one of the burritos was mostly just sour cream and fries, it was disgusting and made us mad we paid so much. We decided to come in and see if maybe there was a difference. And yes, I will admit the service was nice but again the price of the food is just not worth it. The burrito still lacked a bit of meat and there was almost no avocado, we had to order extra and of course was charged. I want to say it's not just Verdes who is like this, but it's the same problem with all the Mexican places here. Trendy place in an expensive area they think they can charge outrageous prices for literally the easiest food to cook!! Tacos aren't hard people! You get a tortilla and throw meat, cheese, and a few other things on there but let them charge $5-8 for it, oh and they are street tacos which are tiny. Where are the good restaurants that actually serve good food? Not in Boulder they only like shitty tacos. read more

Anyone that gives this restaurant less than 5 stars is seriously confused. Verde has fantastic tacos, burritos and enchiladas. I love their draft list and LIVE for their margaritas. The service has always been fantastic and the servers are on top of it. The only recommendation I can make is to install sound panels, as it can be super noisy on a busy night. North Boulder doesn't have a ton of outstanding options for dinner, but Verde takes the cake for having some of the best Mexican food. Keep doin' what you're doing! Love you guys :) read more
