I booked Veranda Restaurant to celebrate a birthday and paid $120 per person, but the experience was extremely disappointing. The cake was first brought out with a candle, then taken to the back, sliced, and returned piled on top of each other, placed on the table with tongs for us to serve ourselves. For a paid birthday event, this felt careless and unprofessional. There was a clear lack of food and service. The salads and meat were cleared by 10:30 PM, leaving our table bare, and the beef BBQ was so dry I could barely bite into it. We were told to expect a DJ and live music, but there was no DJ. The live music did not even start until 8:30 PM. Between the few live songs, elevator-style background music was played, which you couldn't dance to. Most of the time you were just sitting and waiting for the next song. In total, there were only a handful of songs the entire night, from about 8:30 PM until 11:30 PM. Then all music was completely shut down by 12:00 AM while there were still guests in attendance. This felt extremely unprofessional and cut our celebration short. The alcohol service was handled very poorly as well. I personally supplied the alcohol to the restaurant, yet only two bottles were placed on our table initially. The rest was kept to the side, and throughout the night the men at our table were asking for alcohol and felt they were expected to tip servers just to have their shots refilled. (Over $250 in tips server collected from my guests) This was uncomfortable and completely inappropriate. For the price I paid, the lack of food, lack of service, and especially the poor handling of music and alcohol made this a very poor experience. I even asked the venue employee would music be back on and they said oh yes long as there are guests music doesn't stop! But it clearly did. I would not recommend this venue for an important celebration. Party ended at 12am on a Friday night. read more

I had my birthday three years ago. I was very happy until yesterday. We had our best friends birthday there that me enjoyed with the singing dancing. It was very good. Very good and fresh food. Just had lunch with my cousins at Veranda to celebrate my sisters birthday. The atmosphere here is amazing. Beautifully designed patio with a nice bar in the corner. The food was delicious and tastefully plated. I loved the appetizer shrimp. It was so fresh and flavorful. The flatbreads were also amazing so was the beet salad. Let's just say the food was great but I can't say the same for the drinks or the service. But overall I enjoyed the ambiance and the food very much. It's also a great place to host parties. I threw my husband's 35th surprise birthday party here on a Friday night. It was so much fun, and everyone really enjoyed the food, ambiance and entertainment! We will gladly go back for another event or a night out. Restaurant takes care of everything, and I didn't have to worry about a thing (cake was delivered to them and preset menu). I am NOT happy. I did my bridal shower here , the service toward me specifically by one server was very good but may i say i put desserts on the table and gave them a box of eclairs that were extra for later to put into the fridge about 20 of them in there we asked for them later to add more since people ate it and they returned the box from the kitchen with 7 eclairs in there! I had also received a gift from my maid of honor with 5 chocolates wrapped up and glued to the box and apparently one of the servers told my relative i need to take this chocolate from here and he took one! HOW DO YOU NOT ASK ME, How do you take something, what if it wasn't chocolate and it was a tiny sentimental gift wrapped for me.... thought workers are there to work not eat our food. On top of that - one of my aunts asked the server for something and he said "im not a server here dont ask me" then we see him cleaning up with the rest of the servers - so disappointing , they also charged 7 extra seats for the men coming later to clean the table fully before the men even came we asked them 4 times to warm up a couple of food for the men to eat and they didnt even do anything , men didnt even touch nor sit down to eat. Let me kindly not agree with your respectful disagreement with me. First, nobody informed us about the $40 entertainment fee. Otherwise, it would be very illogical for us to go to the place knowing about the fee and then complain about it here. Secondly, and more importantly, if your bottle of water is only $7 and we were charged $21 instead (for 3 bottles 63$), that suggests someone on your team may be manipulating the prices without your knowledge. Unfortunately, I don't keep receipts from restaurants; otherwise, I would be happy to share it with you. However, I trust you have all the bills and charges recorded in your system, and you can verify this information--unless, of course, it was altered after we were charged $63 for 3 bottles of water. Such a joyous occasion was hosted at this cozy, newly remodeled and trendy restaurant/banquet hall. Hooray!!! My cousin and his wife had their "baby boy shower" at this location. It was a good choice and we had a blast. Newly remodeled and reopened under new ownership, this place has two banquet halls for all occasions. If you planned on having private parties, huge wedding or just a table for two they would accommodate. According to Russian and Armenian traditions: good & tasty food (tons of it)and drinks for everyone always a must. Honestly, food was very delicious, fresh and of course, tons of it. We had 3 types of salads. Arugula with beef tongue, shredded beets and carrots mixed with avocado oil, spinach and kale with nuts and cranberries. Than appetizers: shrimp cocktails, seafood delight, blinchik (crapes rolled with ground beef and fried) black & red caviar. For the main course: beef, chicken and pork bbq, rice pilaf, steak cut fries and salmon fillet. Waiters were excellent: polite, very professional and delightful. The dessert table, which was tastefully decorated (had to give credits to my cousins friend, who actually threw the baby shower for them) had the yummiest cake, cupcakes, Jell-O shots and chocolate "favors" Also you had an option of either live music, DJ or your iPod music (your own music idea works with smaller groups) Great place for great occasions, great food and great ambiance. read more

This is not your average restaurant or banquet hall. It has a really cute patio if you chose to shit there instead. I've always come here for a bridal shower. (3 different times. And once for a baby welcome). What's different about this place, is they have a huge selection of appetizers, not your typical Mediterranean appetizers only. You get more, and the taste is top notch. I attended a bridal shower here earlier today. It was in the terrace,very airy and nice. We were greeted by staff. Table set up were very pretty and elegant however food was so so. Serving mostly to mediterranean diet consuming community, they really have to up their menu because they have serious competition in the area. Servers were around in the beginning when we first sat. Offered us drinks and of course brought the hot food and appetizers but disappeared after! Some of us needed glasses, napkins and silverware but could not find anyone to ask for for a long time so gave up. It was a very hot day. Wine and champagne were warm but there was no ice on tables.Empty dishes piled up on table. Our plates did not change at all while they serve the cake so we ate the cake and desserts in greasy china. The rudest servers. God forbid you get up from your seat to go dance or say hello to friends . They skip you in serving . When you ask to serve you and other guests on the table. The rude server comes stands and loudly asks, who didn't get served? Then turns around to that one guest says because you were late, you came late. Today is Sunday and we had a celebration there reserved (unfortunately) and let me tell you it was straight from a horror movie! They sat us down a party of 70 OUTSIDE 2nd floor patio at 110° we asked for fans at least and they replied we don't have them when asked what do you mean should we bring our own? Without hesitation reply was yes! To top it all off the catering was horrible and downright dangerously old and spoiled. I have no doubt in my mind that they were serving us leftovers from their Fri-Sat reservation tables. Shrimp looked dark purplish, bacon jalapeños looked all spoiled and rotten. They keep doing this thievery and eventually gonna end up food poison killing someone! BTW: They actually stole more than half of the 70 party size cake back there at their kitchen after handing it over to be served.. All 70 people went back home sweating, disgusted and hungry from a bridal shower. Unreal! A ruined bridal shower and 5K down the drain! A HUGE DISASTER! STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE ITS A DUMP! If I could give -10 I would! Shame on them for running such a lousy dangerous business! BBB will hear from me as well as the FDA and the CDC! Edit response: So you're claiming you trash the old food and always prep fresh. Well, luckily I was able to salvage a couple of pics to show people and call you out on your false claim. Take a look at it yourself (in case you forgot with the convenience of selective memory) what was served in what condition! As far as I know they haven't invented BLACK AVOCADOS yet, I'm sure you'll relate to this arrogant comment as it's your style of response to me and a lot of others in your past comments. (Not very professional to say the least).. You claim you don't steal a cake you can afford your own but funny enough, rolling through past comments I actually saw another person stating the same problem. So maybe sometimes it's affordable and sometimes it isn't based on the look and the taste of it? Instead of running a circus you'd be better off to stop and take a good long look at what the issues are and find a solutuin to improve. If you can afford your cake perhaps your staff can't because half of a 70 party size cake just can't vanish in the thin air.. Lastly, the couple of fans you're stating you have are on a high probably 14ft high ceiling that do nothing for anyone and if you can't afford to take care of your clients by providing a couple of portable fans we can, but don't you think it's only proper to let the reserving party know that ahead of time before putting them in a sauna? read more

During the summer heat being in the outer patio banquet hall is insufferable. They do not have an AC installed for that specific area. The windows are not enough. The banquet hall beside has AC and guests are not allowed to open doors between the conjoining spaces, when opened they're immediately closed by the servers. It would be nice if they came up with a way to keep the area cool instead of using small fans that do not get the job done. The serves are rude and not understanding whatsoever. Do better. read more

Veranda has been a favorite place to go to with friends and family for a while now. First of all, the service is unmatched - the waiters, the bartenders. The kitchen is most likely the best I've had in LA. With food ranging fron light appetizers to dinner plates, everything is always delicious and the chef never fails to impress.
