The finished project looks beautiful, professional, and completely transformed the curb appeal of my home. One thing that really stood out was how easy Edgar was to work with. He is responsive, communicates clearly, and is accessible by phone, text, and email, which made the entire process smooth from start to finish. We had a sprinkler bust next to our house and we called around to a few businesses and Jonakee was…read moreone of the only responsive ones and quick to come out. They quoted us $450 for the repair, which entailed cutting off our sprinkler where it was rusted galvanized steel and replacing it with PVC pipe. This in turn ended up re routing our system, rending a large chunk of our sprinkler system useless, due to the steel not being able to be connected to the original system unless we wanted to pay for more repairs. We were quoted around the same (around $500) to connect our sprinkler system again so it would work, on top of the original repair, in which we did not move forward. At first, I was fine with a quote of $450 assuming it was going to be a complicated repair with fancy parts but when I saw the work that was done, it changed my mind. Total labor time was maybe 30 minutes and it was simply digging up where the sprinkler was broken and rerouting the pipe with about $15 worth of PVC and that was it. The gentlemen who came out were kind and helpful so I don't like to leave bad reviews however I feel like we were totally ripped off and charged way more than appropriate to the point where I feel extremely silly I didn't call around to other places and feel like we got played. And now we have a system that does not work. I would highly suggest you call around before going with these guys.

We had a particular vision for the re-landscaping of our front yard, but it posed some engineering…read morechallenges. We had a designer develop a conceptual plan, but it did not fully address the engineering issues. When we met John Arney at Helix Landscape Construction, we knew we'd found the right person and the right company for the job. Sloping below street level, our front yard posed an interesting challenge to keep rain runoff out of our sump system as much as possible. The design incorporated the concept of a rocky swale to collect runoff, but John engineered all the details to including french drains to direct runoff into the landscape to re-charge the local water table for the signature bonsai tree and other plants envisioned in the plan. Throughout the project, John took the time to understand our aesthetic for the yard, and provided advice on so many details as it took shape. He traveled with us to rock yards and specialty nurseries to help find the perfect elements. John brought both great design ideas and the technical know-how we needed to make our vision a reality. Over the course of the two weeks he spent with us, I felt he truly became our partner in the project, which made it a pleasure to work with him and his team. As for execution, John's team was efficient, conscientious and respectful of us and our neighbors. The project was completed on time, despite discovery of a massive root system left behind from a previous tree removal, and many other tweaks to the effort made along the way. We are thrilled with the results and would recommend John for any landscape project you might have.
