My daughter took me out for a Mother's Day Brunch at Vera's on Rt.. 70. I have never gone to an event where you have to pay for tickets and you get NOTHING, not even a slice of cake or even a flower for $40/pp. they had blow up microphones laying on the tables. Went here for a day party on Saturday. The party was held in their outdoor area. Which is a very nice size. Two full bars, koi pond, a little bridge separating patio areas, and lots of seating. Party food selection wasn't great and it was cold. It was clear that once it was placed at the start time of the party that was it. So, if you want hot food be on time for your event. Yoooo last night was my first time here and it was definitely worth going. It was recommended to me by a few individuals. The food is ok nothing to brag about the drinks are almost double the price at a regular bar, but they have good music and there's always a nice crowd with no drama at the end. Another place I visit often. I usually try to make happy hour for the hookah! Although they have a nice selection of food and drinks I do wish they would switch up the happy hour menu. Service can be a 10 or a 7.5 depending on the day, but I've never had a terrible experience. If you come early enough it's a nice chill vibe, but the later you come it turns into a party but never too overwhelming. The waitress are really easy to talk to and they really help you through both the drink menu and food menu. This establishment offers outdoor dining. This establishment is a huge commodity during the summer season. While here I ordered the honey buffalo wings which were absolutely amazing. I was at vera for a drag show. Everything was run extremely organized and Covid friendly. One thing that was not Covid friendly was the fact that a lot of servers did not wear their masks appropriately which was concerning. The food was decent, I would say upscale bar food. We started off on the right track until they tried to charge us $45 pp for finger foods!!! Vera's contract states you can have an outside caterer that the caterer wld need to supply their own cooking devices and items like plates, utensils etc NO WHERE ON THEIR CONTRACT did it say that THE ROOM RENTAL FEE would change from $700 to $2000 if you go with your own caterer. I had already paid Anne the $700 room fee the day I decided to use their place for the party. Less than a week and half from my brother's bday party, Anne and the manager changed my contract to include an additional $1300 to the room fee to make it $2000. They also tried to add two of their servers @$150 a piece. Why wld we use their servers if the catering company already has servers?!?! They also removed items from the contract that I had already paid them for. It was THE WORST EXPERIENCE TO HAVE EVER GONE THROUGH!!! If GREED UNPROFESSIONAL AND IGNORANT WERE ALL PICTURES BOTH ANNE -event coordinator and the Manager faces wld appear. I'm not sure of the manager's name but I think it was Raj or Vaj. I never talked to him while planning he wld let Anne do all his DIRTY AND CROOKED WORK of changing numbers, charging outrageous prices for finger foods. The only time I actually spoke to him was the day he decided to cancel our contract! He was RUDE, DISRESPECTFUL and IGNORANT towards me and what he did knowingly the party was only a week and half away! HE HAD THE NERVE TO SAY he didnt want to deal with the stress we were causing him. NO, HOW ABOUT you realized you weren't going to get over on us by increasing the room fee and by making up prices and adding things on to add up for the money lost due to us going with our own catering. See, what he thought was we were going to be left without a venue but little did he know that GOD WATCHES OUT FOR AND OVER HIS CHILDREN!!! I had already found a space prior to him last minute cancelling our contract. I just wanted my money back that I had already paid Vera's. He agreed to give me a refund at that point because once my husband got involved and we threatened to contact a lawyer on his breach of contract, he realized he had a losing battle!!!! We end up going with VENUE 4037 in Delran. We were able to contact all our party guests in a timely manner to update them with the new venue location of Venue 4037. MY BROTHER'S PARTY TURNED OUT AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING!!!! The FOOD WAS FREAKIN DELICIOUS and the venue was decorated BEAUTIFULLY and MET OUR EXPECTATIONS MY BROTHER was VERY PLEASED and actually glad that his party wasn't at Vera's, he loved Venue 4037's personal and beautiful space. The food was good, the waitress was attentive, the band was entertaining! First time here, coming to celebrate a birthday. The first part, dining part of the evening went fine it was when it was time to party when there were some issues. There are several areas inside the building, the dining/ bar where there's a live band , and outside deck and an upstairs (possibly more but this is what I saw) the outside was free the bar was free but the upstairs was a charge. What the charge is, is a mystery. If you're already inside the charge for upstairs is $5, if u come after a certain hour it's $15 or it's $10 to get in the building after a certain hour and $5 to go up. Idk things were unclear. Part of the group was told one thing the other 1/2 another. So about 30-40 minutes spent down in the band area because we were told $15 to go up until we talked to the bouncer who knew we had been inside a while and then we were let up for $5. I have 3 words for this place: FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE. I'm going to start with the worst thing first. My friends and I got profiled for this nightclub (age profiled)--we are all in our 50s.We left after my friend, who is an experienced negotiator in the Philadelphia Area, as well as the youngest in our group (40s), even failed to get a change of consideration with the gatekeeper. Initially told $10 for entrance 1 week prior when I made the reservation, and when we walked over after having birthday party there and spending over $350 on food and drinks, Mr. Gatekeeper says $30.00 for entrance and proceeded to try everything he could to make sure we wouldn't go upstairs. 2nd --The DJ Music was so loud during the course of our birthday party that we had to really talk loudly to communicate and hear each other. Up until 8pm why can't you decide whether you are a club or a restaurant? You seem like your club is in an identity crisis. 3rd---Despite all this, our server was respectful and attentive and that is why I give the place 3 stars. It was a few guys standing the area. And her reaction was signs of something being placed in a drink. She actually fractured her ankle in the process. Came here for the Sunday brunch Drag show with a group of friends. The drag show was fantastic. The Queens doing the stage show were very entertaining. The performers were playing throughout the venue and walked every area where customers were. there were very few men considering it was a gay drag show.... maybe a dozen. I'm surprised it took me so long to find this place! Vera is a lot of fun on the weekends! It's a night club, so expect loud music, crowds, etc. The drinks were a good price and the food served as ideal for a clubbing situation (good regular and sweet potato fries, burgers, tenders, etc.) I loved that there were multiple places to dance (indoors downstairs, outdoors downstairs and indoors upstairs). I personally enjoy clubs with a lot of places to move about, so this had lots of options and none of them were overcrowded and difficult to move through. Security was cordial and vigilant, and with four different bars (maybe there's a fifth I didn't come across) it's never a very long wait to get a drink. I'll be coming back soon read more
