Guided Rides - Our guide Josh managed to make it all work perfect; for a mom who is truly a mountain biking beginner, the dad who seems to be able to handle anything and the son who really enjoys a challenge. My point is, they happily accommodate all skills levels. Rental Bike options - it's only first class here with beautifully equipped new Yeti bikes, you will leave wanting one of these babies for sure! Plenty of choices for all rider types/sizes/etc... Location - The Bike Farm is easy to find just outside Asheville proper then a short trip to unbelievable trail options. Your guide will discuss what you want to do, then plan the route accordingly. We originally chose one day then added a second because we just couldn't get enough. If we could have stayed longer, we definitely would have. We took this trip to have an escape and enjoy the outdoors and couldn't be happier that we chose The Bike Farm. When we return to NC, without a doubt we will book again.

We especially loved the bike park portion for our kid. At $160 a month for a family of 3 (since our 4th was free because she's under 4), we just couldn't afford it anymore. We asked if we could do a bike only membership, and they said they no longer offer them. I was also interested in the different groups they hosted (examples: homeschool groups, etc), but the group membership if I remember correctly was $160 per person just to be apart of groups. I really do wish they had something more all-inclusive at a better price, as well as just better prices all around. We were only able to go about once a week which just didn't make the high price tag worth it. We've been to similar climbing gyms for $100 a month for a family, so this was just too steep for our budget. I've heard from several other local families that have had the same experience. Hoping they make things more cost effective for future families to join!

Nice forest preserve not far from downtown Brevard, NC with a little over 9 miles of trails for…read morehiking & mountain biking. There is NO restroom here, so plan accordingly. The parking lot has room for about a dozen vehicles and there are a couple of picnic tables on the side of the parking lot. The steep little road leading up to the park had some pretty big potholes so be careful and go slow. Their website indicates they have 1 campsite there as well so go to the website for more info on that. We spent a couple hours hiking around here and enjoyed the Autumn foliage. The trail is very uneven in many parts with lots of roots and rocks, and a moderate incline in places giving you a little bit more of a workout.

There used to be a hydroelectric dam upstream that could control releases, but it was destroyed in Hurricane Helene. The future of the dam is uncertain. I appreciated the warm welcome we received when we arrived. We had booked online and signed all of our waivers before we got there. We reserved(rented) water shoes for several folks, as they did not have appropriate footwear. Check in, shoe selection, and safety briefing went quickly , and we were in our tubes in no time. The river was mainly calm stretches punctuated by intermittent small rapid areas. Nothing felt daunting or too dangerous. It had the right level of excitement for the kids to handle themselves. The take out was well marked. It was easy to get our tubes up to the van for the short ride back. We took the first time slot of the day, and were amazed by the crowded parking lot when we returned around noon. We look forward to returning.

I love that it was only a little over an hour away and very accessible. There was parking was helpful. A little hard to find the trail, but I plugged in the name into my GPS and then just used context clues around me. Seemed to be a real lack of facilities and upkeep here. There were no bathrooms, and I really needed that. Eventually there were some parks he passed so maybe those were open? I went on a weekend, but it was winter so I will keep that in mind. The trail itself was not pretty. A lot of concrete, and tons of sketchy looking buildings. The very few people I passed were friendly. I felt a little nervous being on this trail solo just because if something were to happen to me or my bike, it would be a while before I saw another person. A lot of the bike stations were also not in good condition/functioning. If I were you, I would make the drive to the swamp rabbit in Greenville. They have restaurants and more green spaces along the trail. Overall, not upset I tried it because I'm always a fan of more bike trails and outdoor spots, I hope that they make some great changes to this, so that it becomes a beauty for all.
