Today me and a friend took our girls on a trail ride. We had the best time in the National Park. The instructor was very friendly, and patient with the girls. Saddle Up did not disappoint. Pawpaw and Rebel were amazing horses. Michael, owner/trail leader, was amazing as well, supper nice guy. This was the only place I found that offered a 2 hour ride. We had a great time and will be back. Scenery was beautiful, and loved crossing the river. Found Saddle up to be more affordable than other places we checked out. Highly recommend. Michael, bring your wife to "The Pretty Place Chapel"!!! You both will love it. read more

Michael was our tour guide and Juanita made sure there was #noriderleftbehind. Michael gave explicit #instructions not to leave any valuable items in your back pocket as you will lose them, and sure enough, someone thought they could handle #horseback riding through rocky terrain and manage their #cellphone at the same time while going through the creek = bad move bears. Put your phone and other valuables away and watch for the branches, spiders, and unleashed doggies. The 2 got ride is definitely long enough. The long furry road up to the park is very rocky also, and only trim for one car to go by at once, so go very slow, and don't look down. It was a great experience and we had fun. read more

Fun ride through the pisgah forest... Mike was great, Juanita not so much didn't even tell us her name she seems miserable! On another note we loved our horses although mine (Macy) was def not sure footed we were the last 2 of 8 riders.. it would have been nice to have someone in the back sharing all of Mikes "stories" and info . I suppose you cannot clone him lol but he also could have rallied us around and shared info to all of us a few times.. which left us riders in the back feeling left out! Mikes a nice guy seems to know his business but hopefully can improve on professionalism! read more

I wanted to go horseback riding for my birthday, so I looked this place up online and it was absolutely fabulous very intriguing exciting and mesmerizing. I was amazed of how well the horses are trained. I really enjoyed myself and I will be back for my next trip this is a must go place you must visit this place you will not regret it, very safe the instructors will inform you on what to do. They will take care of you and they pay close attention to you as well. read more

Fantastic experience. There were 2 kids in our family, neither had ever ridden a horse. We went on an amazing 2-hour trail ride that felt like 2 minutes. So much fun. My wife and I booked a trail ride for one of our 20th wedding anniversary year "outings." It was a bit out of her comfort zone but with reassurance from our amazing guides, she pushed through the initial panic and came out on the other side to the enjoyment and exhilaration of a 2-hour horseback ride through national forest trails. The incredible ride included rocky uphill terrain and multiple river crossings. Her horse "Moonshine" was a dream and they quickly bonded. By the end, she felt like she'd tapped into her inner cowgirl and told me she'd go again in a HEARTBEAT!!! Absolutely FANTASTIC experience!! read more

I loved this experience so much! I went with my mom on the 2 hour trail as a way to relax and enjoy nature and the horses. We got good directions that led us right where we needed to go. There were absolutely no problems. I got Papa (I believe that's how you spell it, it's said as "paw paw"), and he was wonderful. For anyone who gets him, he did like taking water breaks at the river crossing, and occasionally tried to munch on some leaves. Michael, one of our guides (we interacted with him the most), was very nice and entertaining. We found things to chat about the whole ride, from past events to horses and which ones are best for what (trail riding, cutting, racing, etc.). By the end, I was sad to be leaving the group and my horse. This was a really entertaining way to spend 2 hours of my short vacation. If you want to experience horseback riding or just want to see nature in a different way, or even if you just love horses, I completely recommend you try Saddle Up Trail Rides! read more

We had a great time. It has been years since either of us have been horseback riding but this trail ride did not disappoint. The water crossings and steep hills made our 3 hour ride both diverse and kept things interesting. I did this as a surprise for he but ended up having a great time myself. I would recommend you try to show up a little early if its your first time (the same recommendation they gave us) as depending on where your riding the dirt road to get there is a little long and bumpy. They told us they offer rides in several locations. The ride we went on was in the Pisgah National Forest and it couldn't have been prettier. The guide was informative and an absolute pleasure to spend the afternoon with even though it was just the three of us. I would really like to try this as part of a bigger group as well. This was not meeting at some stables and taking a walk through the woods with a group of twenty people but an actual trail ride and an experience tailored towards our enjoyment. read more

I received a 2 hour guided trail ride as a gift shortly after my mom passed away. This trail ride has been paid for since April. The first availability we had to drive 3 hours to Mills River for the horseback riding excersion was 9/23/17. We arrived in Mills River an hour prior to our reservation time. As soon as we got into town we called the number listed for Saddle Up Trail Rides. The website is very clear that a GPS will not bring you to the site of the trail ride because the location changes regularly. There is not a location of their facility listed online. We called the number provided for an hour leaving voice mails explaining we were having trouble following the directions provided. We stopped and asked for directions several times, no one has heard of Saddle Up Trail Rides. An hour after we began calling the number provided, Juanita called back saying we were late for our reservation. We explained we have been calling for an hour to get directions. She was incredibly rude saying she does not have service on the trails and we needed to file a complaint with our wireless provider due to lack of her having service in Pisgah National Forest. She argued saying, it wasn't her fault she did not have service, there would be no refund and hung up. We called back and numerous times to civilly speak with someone only to have our calls ignored. We finally spoke to Michael who explained he took the phone from his wife while she was speaking to us, and hung up for her. The level of customer service and respect displayed by Saddle Up Trail Rides is sub par to say the least. read more

Horrible customer service. We tried driving down the road to get to the meeting area, but the road is far too craggy. Potholes, rocks and dropoffs made it unreachable for our vehicle. I called to try and cancel, but was told, "too bad, we're charging your card anyways". So we got charged $129 for no ride, and a terrible experience for my wife and I trying to celebrate our anniversary. I DO NOT recommend this company. Take your time and money to another more accessible trail. read more
