Did the 3 hour tubing trip with my family (3 adults and 3 kids ) and we had a wonderful relaxing time. The water was low. There used to be a hydroelectric dam upstream that could control releases, but it was destroyed in Hurricane Helene. The future of the dam is uncertain. I appreciated the warm welcome we received when we arrived. We had booked online and signed all of our waivers before we got there. We reserved(rented) water shoes for several folks, as they did not have appropriate footwear. Check in, shoe selection, and safety briefing went quickly , and we were in our tubes in no time. The river was mainly calm stretches punctuated by intermittent small rapid areas. Nothing felt daunting or too dangerous. It had the right level of excitement for the kids to handle themselves. The take out was well marked. It was easy to get our tubes up to the van for the short ride back. We took the first time slot of the day, and were amazed by the crowded parking lot when we returned around noon. We look forward to returning. read more

Tubing was great! Relaxing with some rapids! Getting to actually go tubing was incredibly frustrating! Once we got to the right place, It took us an hour to pay and get a tube! 1. Outpost is not the address on the website- read the fine print! 2. Fill out all your paperwork online before you arrive! They don't have any signal to do it there and they don't have paper copies. Plus their iPad died for us to do it there. It was a headache! 3. They didn't have enough people working which added to the time we had to wait. The staff were overwhelmed and not able to keep up with everything. There were atleast 20 people behind us in line and I hate to know how long they waited! read more

My boyfriend and I signed up for the waterfall trek experience on our birthday road trip, and stopped here after leaving Asheville, NC (early May). We were looking for a fun activity to include in our trip, and Green River Adventures did not disappoint! The booking process was easy, and a good amount of information was provided on the website. Note that this trek was not available until May, and the rates are more expensive on the weekends. I believe my guide's name was Dan, and he was great! He catered the experience to our group, which was thankfully made up of relatively young and fit individuals. It was more intense of an experience than I expected, which was a good thing, because I definitely felt like we got our money's worth. He was very friendly, sociable, knowledgeable, and offered assistance. I definitely trusted him as our guide and felt that we were in good hands. They offer rentals of shoes and also wet suits in case it's cold or you don't have proper attire, which is great. They have a small parking lot, and there is also public parking in our lot that's about 200 feet down the road, so you can leave your items in your vehicle nearby. You won't want to bring anything that you can't fit comfortably in your pocket and you don't want to get wet (or damaged if you happen to slip on a rock). The guide takes multiple pictures while on the trek that you can purchase afterward. The pictures are not fantastic, as it is not really a photo shoot experience, so keep that in mind. If you have one, I would recommended a body-mounted GoPro. A shuttle takes you about 10-15 min to where you will start the trek. The trek itself takes you through a variety of terrain - you start walking through the forest, downhill. Shortly into the trek, you will repel down a 30 ft mountain side (this is the only repel). You'll see a beautiful waterfall, there are 2-3 opportunities to trek through thigh/waist-deep water, and then several where you'll walk through shallow water. The trek is not particularly easy, and I wouldn't recommend for anyone who is not decently fit or have issues with strenuous walks, as the pace of movement is steady/pretty moderate too. Depending on the level and interest of your group, you may get to jump from a short cliff into water as well. At the end, you'll have about a 15 minute flat walk to where the van is located to drive us back to the "base". The entire experience was about 4 hours. Our guide carried water and cups for us, though a camelback wouldn't be a terrible idea either if you want to drink water whenever you want. Your shoes will be a little sandy and maybe a lil muddy, so don't wear anything you don't feel comfortable getting dirty. After the trek, you'll get the opportunity to rinse your shoes, view and purchase pics, and tip your guide if you wish. Overall, I would definitely recommend! read more

I highly recommend Green River Adventures. The facilities are nice, and the guides were all super helpful, knowledgeable, and fun! In the morning we did the Upper Green River Adventure, which was a white water kayaking trip. It's a thrilling and adventurous trip! You paddle through rapids and over waterfalls. The guides give you plenty of information to stay safe and to be successful. Our guides were Josh and Nick. Peter, our driver, was also helpful with loading and unload all of the gear. In the afternoon we did The Gorge zip line canopy tour. This zip line was fast and had amazing views! The course also had 3 repels, which was very fun. Our guides were Josh and Melynn. They were personable and made sure we were having fun! I would suggest these adventures to anyone seeking some fun and thrills! read more

A fantastic organization! We did the lower Green River (class I&II rapids) with our three boys (10, 12, and 14) and everyone had a blast. Perfect for beginners and those with kids. Each person had their own "ducky", or canoe-like raft for the trip. We received excellent instruction and encouragement from our guide. As two of our children are on the Autism spectrum our guide took the time to provide us with a specific schedule for the trip and allowed our youngest to follow him through each section of rapids. Extra precaution and attention was taken during the Covid-19 crisis to ensure that we all practiced social distancing and wore masks. This is a great experience for all ages. read more

Decided to get out in nature and do a Level 1/2 kayak tour. Sara was our driver, Connor was our kayak guide. Both were awesome. You start with a heck of a drive. They advised my wife who can get car sick to sit up front......I can see why. To me it was a cool drive and she survived. Only 15 minutes for those curious. Quick instruction by Connor and we were out on the water. Air temps were in the high 80's, water temp probably in the 70's. While it felt cold it was awesome when you got in (by choice, not by rapids making you go in). We stopped at two points for some cooling off and swimming, the latter was by the rope swing. Scary at first, but do it. Ton of fun. Here is my only gripe. When asked if I should take my camera, they said we could but don't worry as they would take pictures, which they did.......only to be sold. When you get back they put the pics up on the TV and you have the opportunity to buy. Wish they would have disclaimed this and we could have made the choice......or perhaps include a photo or two with the purchase price. Otherwise a really fun time. read more

This place is GREAT. I made the 3-hour drive from Dawsonville, GA for the sole purpose of doing the Big Bradley waterfall rappel. The experience was about 4 hours long; including a hike, a practice 30-foot rappel down a rock face, and the 200-foot Big Bradley Waterfall Rappel. I had the time of my life. The waterfall rappel was full of adrenaline; walking down the face of slippery rock and looking down 200 feet below, all while getting showered by the massive waterfall. Our guides (shoutout Amy and Shay) were very friendly and reassuring the whole time. I recommend Green River Adventures and the Big Bradley Waterfall Rappel to anyone looking for a unique thrill! read more

This review is a bit personal for me as I have been working long and stressful hours for some time and my day-long experience with Green River Adventures, on my birthday no less, provided a needed theuropuetic escape for both myself and my girlfriend that immersed us in some of the prettiest wilderness I've ever seen. In the morning we attended the upper Green River inflatable kayak raft. Even though we showed up late for our trip, the guides still greeted us with beaming smiles and were very accommodating. Which brings me to my first point: I was extremely impressed by all the guides. You can tell they love what they do and despite having to deal with a group of 9+ people, they always maintained a positive attitude and high energy the entire trip. I can't say enough good things about our river guide Sprinkle, who is incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and friendly. But "Smurf" and Ruth also went with us as secondary guides and brought equally great positivity and conversation as well. The Green River is just so incredibly beautiful and there are at least 3 points that get your heart rate up. But we always felt safe thanks to our guides. After we got back from kayaking we had lunch provided for us at a small charge. I expected some soggy deli sandwhiches from a big box grocery store with some conventional chips, but Green River gave us some amazing wraps from a local deli (The Purple Onion) that were delicious. They even accommodated my g/fs Gluten Free request. If you do a day long trip, do the included lunch! I noticed GRA really prides itself on the little things like that. They keep an eclectic combination of quality micro brews on hand for after trip sessions and don't skimp on their equipment or swag. I usually don't buy swag, but I had to get a hat because they are tastefully designed and incredibly well made. I could say the same about all their stuff in the gift shop though. After lunch we went on our afternoon waterfall trek with Samantha (Sam). She was the only guide on our hike and yet still had the same energy, patience, and expertise as the other guides. We had great conversations and she was very mindful of safety and the group's needs. We trekked by and in the river and jumped into a few swimming holes during our trek. It was the perfect transition from our morning Kayaking. My gf even overcame her fear of heights and took a 15 foot plunge into one of the swimming holes. On our hike out I reflected on the day and realized I felt happy for the first time in awhile. Running my hand through the crystal clear water, soaking up the sunshine, and crashing through some waves just felt... Great! It truly was an amazing experience. And one I will remember forever. I can't recommend Green River Adventures enough. I would give it 6 stars if I could. The company is top notch. The facilities and equipment seem new and are well maintained. They have excellent staff and they pay attention to the small things. Finally, the Green River itself is absolutely gorgeous. Beautiful waterfalls, deep gorges, lucious understory, and a just-challenging-enough river for novice tourists like myself to get a rush when kayaking. At the end of the day I felt like I just had an exceptional massage. I was relaxed, calm, and re-charged. What an amazing adventure. read more

Nice place, with nice employees, and they have clean gear, but they are very expensive, and they don't offer any type of gear for weather. When you have small children, this is actually a big deal. I prefer their equipment to anything else in the green river gorge, because I don't think there's another actual whitewater gear rental place there, but I would expect more for the price. read more

What a great way to go down a river!! I loved the little kayaks! I have rafted many times and kayaked down a Florida river and lakes, but never a swift moving river. The kayaks were easy to maneuver with a llitle great training by the leader. The staff were friendly and helpful. One guide came down the river with 13 people. My only gripe was the number of people on the river in general mostly in tubes which is obviously out of the control of this company, but also the number of people on the trip itself. With 13 people we were constantly running into each other and unable to follow the path of the leader because he was too far in front of us, or another boat got in the way and then you had to take another path that might or might not get you stuck on a rock. Getting stuck was no big deal, most people were able to hop their way off the rock. If the river had lower water level this would have been really troublesome. Only other gripe was really stinky life vests. They are used and wet most of the day, so maybe spraying them down with a mild bleach solution every now and then would be a good idea. All in all I would absolutely do this trip again. read more

Have had the great luck to join this company for a day of both the zip lining and rafting. What an awesome experience! The zip line guides were informative, kind and supportive of those in our group who were a little nervous jumping off a platform of several hundred feet. The zip lines themselves were beautifully placed, and one gets lost feeling like a bird flying through the trees. We elected to do the lower Green trip in the afternoon. Our guide, Keely, was competent, funny, and very experienced. We were all able to relax fully under her tutelage, and enjoy what is one of the most beautiful and pristine rivers in western North Carolina. The trip took about two hours and included seeing much wildlife! Highly, highly recommend. read more

I am still thinking about this trip months later. This was an heart bounding, life changing trip. We did the upper river with the class III, maybe class IV rapids. I would have not made it through that without the amazing guides. I hate to admit that I was the participant that did all the things they didn't want you to do the first rapid down and the guides stuck with me. The only reason I didn't give them a 5 star was because I really wanted pictures of the adventure. however the camera was not working and they were not able to do this. While the staff at this place was nice, I was still lied to and disrespected. I contacted them to inquire about a demo kayak, and was told it was in great condition and had not even been used much. Awesome! I let them know I'll be up on Saturday to pick it up, and they said great we'll be here all day. After driving over 3 hours to get there, I contacted them and was told they rented that kayak out and it wouldn't be available until 6 pm. After sitting around for hours, the kayak finally gets back and we inspect it. The kayak had scratches all over it, and while it is still functional, it was far from great condition. The owner walks up and says sorry for renting the kayak, but he just couldn't turn down the customer that wanted to rent it. So much for keeping to the agreement that had already been made me with me I guess. Bottom line, if you are going to lie about the condition of a boat, or disrespect customers time, at least do something to compensate for it. They didn't. Wouldn't recommend this place and we definitely won't be back. read more

Oh, man, did we have a great time. My daughter and I did the Little Bradley Falls rappelling adventure, and I felt like we were in great hands. The experience was a ton of fun, but I would add to it that the guides we had made us feel very safe throughout the experience, we enjoyed getting to know them and our fellow rappellers, the spot was beautiful, and on and on. Two amazing experiences doing both their beginner and intermediate-advanced whitewater kayaking tours in the same weekend. Weather was mild (great) in early August. Both guides on both tours were knowledgeable, chill, and responsive. Other people in the beginner/family-friendly tour ranged from a 12yo girl to a 50yo man. After sharing a 10 minute van ride, you are dropped off by the river with inflatable kayaks (singles; doubles are not recommended as they're harder to maneuver), helmets, life jackets. Good hand-eye coordination is all a beginner needs to not flip. Over the course of the 2 hour trip, about 4 out of 12 people in the group flipped, but that's because they failed to avoid tree branches, or other trivial, non-strenuous situations. As for the int/adv trip, you need some courage on top of coordination. I am a petite 20-something, I'm moderately fit, but have questionable arm/upper body strength. I was a little fearful going in to this one, but I would say a strong willingness-not-to-fall-out trumps strength, and hence I did not flip! I even went down a class 4 rapid/waterfall backwards (on accident) but I just held on. We were the only 2 people on this 8am tour because the other people were no-shows (hung over?) and forfeited their deposit. Definitely wear synthetic fabric shorts or bikini bottoms (girls). You will get splashed & very wet even if you don't flip, so you don't want to be sitting in cold soggy capris/pants the whole time. The company has neoprene long-sleves to borrow, but instead, I wore my water-repellant jacket (no lining, so hypothetically would dry quickly IF I flipped) over a bikini top which kept me dry on top from splashes. Water shoes are more pleasant than cold, heavy, soaked sneakers. No sunglasses needed as the river is 90% shaded on both sides. SPF 15 optional. The guide will take pictures which can be purchased for $25 on a flash drive. read more

Worth the 90 minute drive to get there from Charlotte!! So much fun. We went in the middle of August and I mention that because of the size of the rapids that others have mentioned. Our youngest on the trip was 7 and she was totally fine on her own tube although she stayed close or connected to someone most of the time. We had 4 girls, ranging from 7 - 11. We did the 2-2.5 hour, 3 mile float and all of us were wishing we did the 6 mile float after it was done, it was that much fun. Will do it every summer I'm there. Water temp was perfect. Day weather was about 80 and that was perfect. I would have liked bigger rapids but with the girls it was just right. Having a backpack or cooler would have been fine. I would recommend tying it to the tube. We did stop at a bend in the river and some swam for a while. Snakes? We saw one and it swam toward our youngest and her uncle, but we weren't sure if it was swimming towards them or trying to get away. After we got back to the cars and were changing and rinsing feet in a small stream that fed the river, I saw a small snake, probably 3 feet long and 1/2 inch thick, swimming away from me, so...there are snakes like others have mentioned but all of us would go again. Water shoes are better than slip on sandals, but even bare feet would have been okay. read more

The guides at GRA are top class. We had a great time with Neil and Keith on the upper river run. This was my first time on whitewater and I will definitely be back. If you have your own kayaks you are welcome to bring them and I would definitely suggest that if you have the option. For beginners the inflatables are more forgiving but will stick to rocks. The Green River is an absolutely beautiful area and offers a great opportunity to unplug and soak in the adventure. Next time I am in NC this will definitely be a stop! read more

We did the lower green. It was great for beginner kayakers or those wanting a relaxing time with a few rushes. Jehu was our guide and he was great at making sure no one was left behind or if someone got stuck, giving them direction on how to get back. The water is cool in July even. The rapids were just enough for older children to maneuver on their own. We saw a snake and many turtles. We'll definitely go back again. read more

Awesome! Our family had a fantastic time on our 3 mile, Level 1-2 Kayaking trip. We had 9 people, with 4 adults and 5 kids ranging in age from 5-12. All of the kids LOVED the white water kayaking. The 12 year old had his own boat, the other 4 kids rode with an adult. It was the perfect mix of easy "white water" which let the kids get bumped around and a little wet, without being scary. I have done multiple events with this company. (Rappelling, whitewater, the gorge zip lines) I have never been disappointed. The experience has always been well worth the money and the customer service is beyond exceptional. Conner was our guide for whitewater, and he Made a great day even better. The Green River is a hidden gem of paddling: American Whitewater calls the Upper Green a Nantahala with one more big rapid. Green River Adventures has their act together! The shop is immaculate and has a great aesthetic. The staff is sooo friendly, and they have an activity for everyone. We did the Big Bradley Falls Waterfall Rappel and had an absolute blast. The entire staff is very professional, organized, safe and fun. Our scheduled time was 8-1 and they have it down to a science. They made the trip a breeze with equipped guides who took in all the gear, snacks, water, etc. You start with a brief hike, then some training, a short dry rappel, hike to the head of the falls- then you are off! It took about 5-10 mins per person to go down. The base of the waterfall is a good place to hang out, wade in the water or just sit and relax. Once everyone is down, you take the short hike back out. We've been all over the world and have done some crazy fun things, but this tops them all! Highly recommend. read more

My husband and I had a fantastic time on the upper green river adventure. Our guide was Meg, and she was incredible. She was super patient, helpful, and skilled. During our trip, we went down several rapids as well as 2 or 3 waterfalls. I didn't think I could do the waterfalls, but with Meg's careful instruction I did it successfully. My husband and I debated whether we should do the upper adventure or the lower adventure. We have some kayaking experience, but if I had to do it again, we would have done the lower river adventure first to build our confidence and then advance to the upper river adventure.
