    Menu from July 2024

Dinner for three people on a week night. There were many tables open, so we opted to sit outside. At first we were looking for Alhambra, but the server said they're the same. The "Alhambra" store sign was next door and boarded up. Maybe the owners went on vacation. The servers spoke Spanish and not much English. When I tried to pull up Google Translate on my phone, they didn't seem to care for it. We put in orders for a salad, the meat plate (menu says it's for 2 people), and the garlic shrimp. Another server came back to tell us it's way too much food. He suggested to remove the salad since the meat plate comes with fries and salad. We agreed. The garlic shrimp was delicious. They served it on a clay plate, and it was still sizzling when it arrived on our table. meat plate was indeed a lot of food. Some meats were ok, like the chicken and sausages. The beef was on the tough side and we had to add ground black pepper. We asked for steak sauce ("salsa di bistecca") but they only brought out Tabasco. The fries also needed to be salted, and they brought ketchup when we asked. The tinto de verano was really good. It was better than the sangria because it's carbonated. I thought this restaurant was pretty good for Spanish food. During our meal we saw people trying to sell roses and other trinkets. There was a pair of males beatboxing/rapping in Spanish trying to get tips.

Entraña de Ternera - Grilled Skirt Steak - €18

Friendly service, open later, positive vibes, good value for the area. The skirt steak was just a bit tough (I was cutting against the grain) and unevenly seasoned. Saw the meat platter and would definitely order it for a group.

It was very busy on a Friday night. The food was very good. We ordered churrasco de ternara de zaroma and it was delicious. This is the place if you want Spanish food.

Had a massive skirt steak with fries for 20 euros. Service was friendly and attentive. The place had a fun, welcoming vibe. Highly recommend this spot if you like lots of delicious food and cheap wine!

    Parrillada

Our absolute favorite restaurant in Madrid! In fact, it was so good we went back two more times! Highly recommend the Parrillada. Best we could find in Madrid (and trust me we tried a lot haha) The staff were so friendly and made us feel welcome. Shout out to the owner Mary for being so amazing all week!

This place is really good! It's a lot of fun too! We've been here two nights in a row. The staff is great and the place is open real late. The first night we shut the place down and they welcomed us back with open arms again the following. Beer is really cold. Sangria hits the spot as well. However the real deal is the Meat Platter. It's insane. For about €22 you get enough food for three to four people. We ordered some other things as well, but the platter is nuts. You get ribs, steak, pork, chicken, and sausage. It's enough to put you into a Meat-Coma. They have a seafood one as well that I'd love to try. It's really reasonable too. We literally ate and drank way more than we should have and it was €86 for 5 of us. Highly recommend coming here!! Enjoy!!

My hubby found this place online, after we viewed couple pictures, we decided to come to this place and give it a try. I was a bit worried about it would be full of people and we had to wait again, since its location was quite close to the hot spot in the city centre. But well, it wasn't many people around, we were able to just come and get a table. The staff here was a bit strange to me. I started to realized it after couple days in Madrid. The waiter seen like will only communicate with you in Spanish mostly. Some few try to speak with me back in english. In this case, the waitor of this restaurant spoke only Spanish to us, which we told him, we don't speak Spanish. It was alright for me, if the person doesn't know english. But it seems like he did understand what we say, but reply us only in Spanish. I just found the situation was a bit funny. The waiter was quite helpful actually. We ordered a grill plate for 2 person. Wow, that was a big plate and all the meat looked good. So we just started our meal. I found the tasted of it was quite good, it was better than I expected. And the general cost of this place was also not that expensive as I thought it would be. I kinda like this place, glad that I visited here.

We came to this restaurant because Alhambra (right next door) ran out of paella and lied to us about it when they brought out two plates for another table right in front of us. So we brought our pitcher of sangria over and ordered some yummy paella. They were the same owners, same menu & prices, and great service. This place is underrated!

I came here last night with a friend and had a great time! We arrived just before 9pm and the place was full (which is generally a good sign), so we got a seat at the bar and had a beer with a free tapa to pass the time. The place is very lively and all the people working here are super friendly! After 15 to 20 minutes or so, we were seated. We ordered their paella and a platter of Iberican meats. It was delicious, and probably best to share for more than two. The paella is quite salty so make use of that lemon! The meats are sliced very thinly and there are about 5 different varieties which are nicely arranged around the plate. It comes with a basket of toasted and buttered bread and 4 pieces of cheese. One of the favorite dishes that were ordered by multiple groups in the restaurant was the steak, which comes steaming in a hot dish. It smells heavenly! I'd love to try it some time. After finishing, we were given two free shots -- hence the 5-star rating. Note, service here is wonderful and quite attentive but you may end up in the restaurant for 2 hours. Eating over that period of time is a cultural thing. When I'm in Madrid again, I'll definitely be back here!

Stop number 2 in our Madrid bar hopping night. Another great bar with great food and friendly staff. Same concept; buy a drink and your tapa is free, and tapas get higher quality as you keep ordering drinks. The night is young, and this could go on for a while...

    Rabo de toro
    Michelle Y.

Stumbled across this restaurant whilst on a desperate search for meat, after having suffered from 5 days of bread, fruit, and water (half from the deplorable food scene in Granada and half from a bout of food poisoning the one meal I dared to eat meat in Granada) I'll admit part of what lured me in was the rabo de toro - Spanish oxtail stew - and partially also the attractive waiters.. in any case, the food was delicious, the waitstaff friendly (which, believe me, is hard to come by in a country where restaurant etiquette is rather lazy to put it euphemistically), and the prices reasonable. My stew was flavorful and generous at €10, accompanied with a glass of delicious sangria to wash it down. The party next to me had divine looking plates of mussels, clams, and salmon, as well as gazpacho for their post-meal. Don't know if this is standard practice or the fact that I was a chick dining alone, but the waiters gave me a free chupito of something (yerva? Who cares) at the end. I'm still buzzing in a delightful way and it's only mid-afternoon. This is located right off the plaza between Tirso de Molina and Puerta del Sol, and is worth a stop by while you wait for a v.o.s. playing of a movie at the nearby Yelmo Cines or on your way back from the overwhelming eye candy at one of Madrid's great art museums.

I lost my friends one night and walked into here looking for them and never left. I spent a wonderful evening drinking red wine and evouring the food that the barman kept bringing. Lovely smoked chorizo slices in a crusty bread, pimento de Padrone done to perfection. This place is next to a load of otehr Irish type tourist bars and I recommend this for a break from the mayhem. Came in here a couple of days later for an afternoon and it was packed with a diverse mix of locals and the more mature tourist. recommend the pimento de Padrone over anything else, House red is a good and service very attentive. Very cheap as well

When I found out I was coming to Madrid I had to book a table. First things first, my suggestion is book way in advance. This place fills up fast. My friend and I waited too long and the only seating we could get was at 11:15 PM. No big deal though there's plenty of places you can get a light snack in the surrounding area while exploring the city. Walking in, the architecture immediately hits you. Low ceilings, gorgeous old brick, tight dining rooms, it really feels like you stepped back in time. The whole atmosphere is elevated without being stiff. Staff was super friendly and made the experience feel smooth from start to finish. There's also apprently a really nice wine cellar at the bottom I overheard other patrons bragging about. Food wise, I will keep it real, it was good, just not my favorite meal in Madrid. The sangria was solid, definitely one of my highlights. The croquettes were fire. Crispy, creamy, exactly what you want. My friend's seafood casserole was actually really good too, I lowkey wish I went that route. Now the misses. The sautéed vegetables with Iberian ham didn't do it for me. The veggies needed seasoning bad, and the ham leaned a little too salty, so together it just felt off. The suckling pig, the signature dish, was good, but I was not blown away. If I find myself returning here, I would explore other options. After dinner, there was a little show and they let you keep a souvenir menu, which was a nice touch and made the night feel more memorable. Overall I had a solid 3.5 star experience rounded up to 4. Sobrino de Botín is history, it is iconic, and it is worth saying you have been. Just do not expect it to be the best meal of your trip. Hit Botín, soak it in, then go explore the rest of Madrid's food scene, because that is where things really start to shine.

We hadn't planned on eating there but decided to drop in. The interior is cozy and inviting, while outdoor seating is available if you prefer to dine al fresco (though it can get a bit windy outside). The menu features a wide variety of traditional Spanish dishes, and everything we tried was delicious. Our T-bone steak arrived perfectly cooked, served with grilled peppers and sliced golden potatoes, it was simple, flavorful, and satisfying. The squid was also very good, but the standout dish was the asparagus in tempura with almond mayonnaise. Perfectly fried and incredibly light, it was absolutely outstanding. Another highlight was the homemade Iberian ham croquettes served with candied pepper sauce which were creamy and rich on the inside with a delicate crisp on the outside and a wonderful balance of flavor. To accompany the meal, we enjoyed a few glasses of Rioja Azpilicueta Crianza (Tempranillo, Graciano, and Mazuelo, 12 months aging, 2021). It was a bit on the dry side, but helped take the edge off the chilly wind while we sat outside enjoying a late lunch. The staff were friendly and accommodating, even indulging my enthusiasm for photographing the slicing of the Iberian ham. All in all, La Mi Venta delivered a fantastic, authentic Spanish dining experience with great food, good wine, and welcoming service in a charming setting.
