I called to see if they were accepting new patients, and I was able to get an appointment that same day! Reception staff was very friendly with paperwork and helping me pick out new glasses. They have a good, varied selection of frames - only thing that's annoying is every pair is locked so you have to ask for each pair you want to try on. Jane was very helpful though and never made me feel like I was being a bother for trying on so many different frames. I never felt rushed, even after trying on nearly every pair of glasses they had. My glasses came in quickly and when I stopped by to pick them up, they were able to fit them immediately!!! read more

I sat on my glasses and destroyed them pretty well -- twisted the front and the connection between the frame and the stems, and one of the stems came off after the very tiny screw fell out. I then tried to repair them myself and made things worse so that the stem no longer fit in the slot to connect it to the frame. I went to Venice Optical because of its great reviews on Yelp, two of which said it did eyeglass repair. The owner, Jane, was warm and sympathetic and said that, although they didn't really do any major repairs, she thought they could fix them. A few minutes later they were as good as new. I certainly thought that a fair charge would be $20 or more. [A fair price does not depend on how much time it took, but on knowing how to do it and what it was worth to me.] When I asked her how much I owed, she said $5. I was embarrassed that she asked for so little when she had been so helpful, and said that I wanted to give her more. She would not hear of it and insisted that I pay only $5. For $5 I basically got a new pair of glasses. And then she gave me a free case for them. I had never met Jane before or been to her place. Jane, you deserve your wonderful Yelp reputation. I found this place after JC penny opticals told me they could not put an anti glare coating on a pair of of glasses I had ordered them. JC penny opticals told me I should have ordered that with my initial order. I called Jane at Venice opticals and she told me they can add the anti glare coating as long as there were no scratches on my glasses. Jane was very polite and helpful. This is one of the best places to get sunglasses, prescription glasses and contact lenses. They have a huge selection and you will find what you are looking for. Jane (the owner) is great at helping you find what fits you the best. I am very picky and hard to please but somehow she always manage to find at least two pairs for me! Also, she goes above and beyond to take care of her customers. I'm a dental hygienist and I wear a pair of loupe for work. Parts of it broke so I had to order some replacements. The manufacturer told me to take it to an optical so they could help me put the parts on. Apparently, it required some work to put them on. Jane did it for me and didn't even charge me! Zero stars. If I could. This was my eye doctor but now I changed. I'm traveling to another country today. I had ONE last pair of contact lenses that I had saved up for this occasion and my left one tore in my eye. I called them to see if they could SELL ME (not give me) just ONE pair of contact lenses. I did not have time to walk in there and wait until they took my eye exam and such, anyways they already had me on record and knew my prescription. The man on the phone even laughed when I asked him for one pair. I spoke to him in a polite way asking him if he could please SELL ME one pair since it was an emergency. And he refused. He said he can only sell me the pair after I take my eye exam but my eye exam isn't even due yet! And then he tells me that he doesn't have an extra pair to sell me. What a lying fuck. That's the worst customer service I have received. I will not be coming back nor I will recommend any friends or family to come here. I am so disappointed. read more

I remembered my boyfriend needing to find a place to fill his new eyeglasses with prescribed lenses so we decided to check it out. We have always gotten our eye exams & prescriptions done at Costco down the street, but if I had known any sooner, I would've just came here to Venice Optical instead! Jane (owner) is so NICE; the whole staff is extremely helpful & friendly! We brought in his glasses & asked how long it would take & how much it cost us: within 15-20 minutes, they were all finished & we only paid $80!!! From what we learned, they just barely opened about 3 months ago & they're even offering eye exam services at only $29! I was so shocked at the amazing service, and I kept reminding them how I wish we had found them sooner. A couple days later, my boyfriend needed to tighten his glasses a bit so he stopped by really quick before heading to work & they had them done for him within 5 minutes at absolutely no charge. AMAZING. I really can't give Jane and her staff enough praise. We were widely impressed & will definitely be back once I need my glasses done :) They carry high-end brands for eyeglasses/sunglesses such as Ray-Ban, Versace, BVLGARI, Dior, Marc Jacobs--but they also have cheaper alternative brands (huge selection) & they look pretty awesome & trendy. This review is loooooong overdue but let me tell you about my awesome experience here. I have only been going here for 2 years now. That's because I used to have an insurance but since I dont have an insurance anymore I looked for a cheap, good quality glasses and contact lenses. How lucky can I get when I found out that this place is a mile away from my house? I took that as a sign. I went in and was confused of which frames looked best on me coz they have a whole lot that I liked! :) They also helped me pick the best looking frames for me which I agree, the frames that I got was beautiful. I got a great deal on BOTH contact lenses and glasses. I thought I would just get a cheap and good quality glasses but no, It also came with a super good, welcoming costumer service. Not just that, my glasses were ready for pick up after 3hrs! Please guys dont change! You guys are 100% sure loved by all of us! (: Best place to go to! I super recommend! I had loose screws in my glasses. I tried fixing it myself by buying those eyeglass repair kits from cvs but it just wasn't working. I called around at different optometry locations to see if they could fix it since the spot my glasses came from is far away (no longer live near it). All these places had an issue with fixing glasses that weren't from them. Understandable I guess but eh... it was like a major deal to them. Venice Optical had no issue at all with fixing mine. Took only a few minutes. The lady that helped me was super friendly and awesome. I may need new contact lense soon... and maybe a new pair of glasses one of these days (or just a new frame for something fresh), so I now know where to stop by here in the South Bay. You've come to the right place. Don't go searching for other places!!! I've been coming to Jane since she was at the store in front of El Camino College, and she's just great. Other reviews say the same thing, but I thought I would take a part in it too! Price: eye exam is $30 at the optometry next door. She gives amazing discounts when you purchase the frame and lens together. Whenever I bring friends over, she gives them for a price better than all the other places. We tried calling and asking all optometrists in Torrance. All my friends (and even my mom) are huge fans of this place and they all love it! Service: You can just feel the welcoming vibe the moment you enter the door. Being the most indecisive person in the city of Torrance, I used to take hours (literally 2 hrs) choosing a pair of glasses. Jane patiently took out every pair of glasses and gave me feedbacks on each one of them. Not only that, when I got my first pair of contact lenses I did NOT know how to put them in my eyes. Like it did not go in. But Jane again helped me step by step in how to put it in. Quality: one of the frameless glasses that I got many years ago was like rock-proof. I would hold it by the side and bang it on the table, and it would not break haha I had to upgrade to a prettier frame so I don't use that glasses anymore, but it's still unbreakable.
