This may seem an unfair review since it was a very expensive delivery order and not eat in, although the delivery service food used to be good. And still should be if the restaurant is good. Today I ordered the pesto penne pasta with a side of sautéed spinach. The spinach had a strong flavor like it was sautéed in old grease and took several squeezes of fresh lemon juice to make it edible. The pasta itself was cooked nicely. The sauce was just barely edible only after I added store bought basil paste to it. The pesto had zero garlic flavor and there was very little sauce at all. No discernible parm flavor either. This will likely be my last order from there since my past few orders have been less than great, altho not as bad as this. I'll add that I have undergone several surgeries over the past couple of years and have been unable to cook for myself. But no more pasta for me until I'm back in the kitchen. read more

Met up with the gals for lunch/brunch. I started off with a cup of java since I needed a shot of energy. Good cup of coffee. It was hot and strong but quite flavorful. I arrived early and enjoyed my cup of joe. I was looking over the menu while awaiting my friends to arrive. I did take note that the parking lot can be hard to maneuver. The majority of the parking is in the rear of the restaurant and it is definitely a potential traffic jam waiting to happen. Made a note to perhaps arrive earlier for lunch next time. I ordered the Thai chicken salad. The salad itself was made up of a variety of salad greens, carrots, chow mein noodles and a dressing that had a nice spicy bite to it. My chicken was the highlight. It was seasoned well and had a wonderful flavor. My friends ordered pizza and pasta dishes. A couple of the ladies had adult beverages that were a little on the pricey side but had a good taste. Each of them enjoyed their entrees. Our experience would have been a five star rating but our server was having a bad day or something. I asked for my salad dressing to be placed on the side but it was placed all over my salad. That could have been a kitchen mistake but not if the server wrote it down incorrectly. I am not sure. He was forgetful and did not bring much needed items when we asked for a straw, water, cokes, etc. He was on his way to bring us an item we had waited for and then he stopped at the table next to us knowing we were waiting. My friend had to go get her own straw. He was cordial but not as attentive as we would have liked. We did not call for the manager but maybe we should have. My husband said the meat was tough and he didn't like the barbecue sauce on it. He asked to exchange it for something different on the menu but was told by the manager that unfortunately they don't exchange menu items and aren't allowed to take it off the ticket which is absurd. Really bad for business!! Also it's not posted on the menu that you're not allowed to exchange food that is not to your liking. Ended up paying $14 for a pizza that was thrown away. The visit date was Saturday, April 20th, 2024, around 5 pm First off, Venice Kitchen will text your mobile when the party is ready to be seated, which is very efficient. I was seated at a table and enjoyed an espresso martini while I waited on missing members of my party. The coffee flavor was smooth, and the vodka kind of snuck up on me. I would order it again! My server, Sydney, offered water for the table while I waited. I ordered the "ultimate cheese fries," and they came out fairly quickly. I was suspect at first, but they were hot and cheesy with bits of green onion. The GM greeted me and made light conversation. Later, she brought a dessert version of an espresso martini. It was served in a metal martini style glass (to keep it ice cold). It had a caramel and white chocolate addition that really made it dessert forward. I don't know if it was chocolate liqueur or plain chocolate syrup, but it was tasty. She explained that she was a sommelier as well as the GM and was testing out new cocktails. Cool with me because I like cocktails. I must admit I was impressed that she was an expert because it is not easy to be certified as a sommelier. Especially a black female sommelier! Bonus points for that! When my family arrived, we were not rushed to order, and Sydney was attentive and patient. I like giving servers their props when they are on top of the game because I will also rip them to shreds when they are lazy! Sydney was cool. We finally decided to do a family style dinner, and we shared the chicken Alfredo fettuccine, Pasta Maria, and a Deluxe pizza. The four of us could not finish the large portions, so we had plenty for leftovers. The chicken Alfredo was decent, but the pasta Maria was our favorite. The pizza was full of meat and veggies, but the green peppers were chopped too big. Overall, I think the food was a 4, service -5 and atmosphere-5. It's interesting that I finally got around to trying this place out and as a result, I'm kicking myself for waiting for so long! I arrived prior to the start of Happy Hour and sat at the bar. The bartender was friendly and served up excellent Lemon Drops (not an happy hour special). I loved the fact that this restaurant offered a great variety of options to choose from. I was told that you couldn't go wrong with anything on the menu and that statement was correct! My friend and I tried the crawfish rolls as an appetizer and they were delicious! We decided to go with the bacon cheeseburger pizza afterwards. Although we ordered an individual-sized pizza, we were able to easily split it because the portion size was perfect!
