Yang's has been my absolute favorite place in Memphis for over twenty six years. I love nearly everything on the menu and introduce everyone I can to Yang's. The service is fast and friendly. Don't expect fancy if you dine in. That's just not what Yang's is about. I have watched one very sweet young lady grow up through the drive through window since before she was legally permitted to work. I can remember vividly pulling up to the drive through menu the very first time. I asked my then girlfriend if I needed to pull up to the window because the speaker looked completely busted. It wasn't and in fact that "busted" speaker became part of Yang's charm. For twenty ish years I would wonder if that speaker would still be there and it broke my heart a little when they finally replaced it. This was my first time trying this Chinese restaurant, and overall I would come back. I ordered a new dish that I hadn't tried before, and I actually enjoyed it. It wasn't as spicy as I expected at first, but the heat slowly kicked in later in a good way -- which I personally liked. The egg rolls were pretty typical, nothing that really stood out for me. I also tried the garlic shrimp with rice, but the rice was a little too oily for my taste. The vegetables are only sautéed, and I personally prefer mine cooked a little softer because I have braces. I really do want to give Yang's four stars ... I really do but I just can't. It is a funny combination of offerings ... The first time I went I actually laughed ... I suppose I was expecting fast food chinese food. They have all of that of course ... But every imaginable sandwich as well. I really do mean EVERY imaginable sandwich. Ok so maybe that's an exaggeration .... But only a small one. Over the past two years I've been to Yang's on many occasions with a variety of eating companions in tow. My fist trip into the 'dive' surroundings of Yang's took a wee bit of determination not to turn tail and run. It does not look or feel exactly 100% clean. Upon closer inspection you see that it's not unclean .... It just doesn't feel clean. I had read so many raving reviews about Yang's that I bit the bullet and ordered. I'm kinda glad I did. Despite the strange run-down decor and stained ceiling tile... Yang's won me over. The folks at Yang's are always so nice and helpful. Food is always cooked quickly and all special requests are taken without a bat of an eyelash and carried out perfectly. The Chinese food itself is 'ok' sometimes a little greasy ... But they give you massive amounts of food for a below fair price. In fact it's the only Chinese like food I have found even palatable in Memphis. 100 times better than Wang's and considerably cheaper! Strangely enough its the sandwiches that are the stand outs here. They are pretty terrific. I have had a few but I love their Veggie sandwich. I've never eaten inside the restaurant ... I think that the surroundings would just succeed in killing my appetite. I get my food pretend like I don't see anything and go. There is a drive-thru ... Call your order in and pick it up. If they would just put some effort into improving the utter shabby decay of the entire establishment I would be debating a four or five star rating ... As it is ... It's a three. Don't go here looking for High quality ingredients ... It's not really that kinda place. I used to come here for my Fried Food Fridays as it was close to home. Now between the weird parking and lazy cooking...I cannot in good conscious recommend the place. Laziness or frugality comes to mind between the old oil and repurposed breaded wings. Service is rushed and dry which, for meis a mute point as long as rudeness isn't at play. An uncommon mix of Chinese restaurant and sandwiches, I knew that I had to try here. I opted for the muffaletta, a sandwich with its origins in New Orleans. The building has definitely seen better days and with the COVID-19 Concern, the drive through was the only option. Service was relatively quick. The sandwich was surprisingly good with a decent amount of meat and out the door it was about seven dollars. All in all a positive experience. read more

I've been coming to Yang's Deli for years and I've always loved their menu selection from their offerings of their Chinese food, sides and sandwich items. I've had about everything on their menu. My two favorites would be the general tso's chicken with fried rice or a muffaletta with fries. They offer a beverage selection from your Coke products to their iced tea. Ice-T is definitely the way to go. Their iced tea is brewed with the right amount of flavor & tastes excellent. The staff there is quite friendly. As soon as I walked into the door I felt welcomed by the cashier as she was eager to take my order. she took it down with accuracy, precision & great timing. The cook was quick in proceeding to preparing and cooking my order to the accuracy and tempture I desired. I was very pleased with my muffaletta and general tso's chicken that day. Inside the restaurant is very cleanly & pleasurable to enjoy your order. But if you prefer they also offer carry out. Either way I guarantee you will enjoy your dining experience at Yang's Deli. From the outside, it doesn't look great and is kind of in a remote part of the city. But don't be fooled by outside appearances, this place is amazing. It's quick, cheap, good fast Chinese food. I've been going to Yang's for almost a decade, and it's always been consistently good with no frills or gimmicks. Most recently, I got three combo meals (lo mein, general tso's, and veggies) and they all came with rice and egg rolls. It totaled to less than $30. And we had plenty of left overs. They do have their own parking space and room to eat inside. read more

I would not recommend Yangs Deli. They do not heat the customer area so you freexe even picking up an order much less eating in. Yangs used to be fantastic. But no longer example. Chicken fried rice is awful and tasteless. not cooked and seasoned properly. I loved the steak and cheese steak on wheat extra spicy. No more wheat bread. Last order does not even taste like a steak and cheese of a few years ago. ordered extra meat that costs extra and barely had meat on it. The vegetables were not cooked properly like the sandwich of old with mushrooms very under cooked. Had a lot of lettuce and onions and I don't remember lettuce. Very worthless and tasteless sandwich compared the original a few years ago. They no longer have the original owner influence and with the poor quality and poor heating I no longer intend to go aback after 20+ years of eating there as a real treat, Now it just sucks. read more

I've eaten at Yang's Deli over the years, and one thing that has always been the same is that the food never tastes bad! Especially the Fried Rice dishes and Lo Mein. My favorite being the Shrimp Fried Rice and Pork Lo Mein. There's so much meat included in the Lo Mein that I've even taken some out and cut it into the Fried Rice!! Tender, fluffy, cooked to order while you wait is how the Rice is prepared, and it's an art to watch how they prepare your Lo Mein... ingredient by ingredient cooked to order as they rotate the noodles in their traditional way! The Eggrolls are also cooked to order and always served hot! Both husband and wife are two of the most friendliest people to talk with while your food is being prepared. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is comfortable, clean, and not close seating. I like that you never have to worry about needing more sauces for your food, as it's already placed on the table for each customer to help themselves. This has to be my number one spot to get a great Chinese meal in a dash, as the drive-thru moves very quickly and one can eat and be completely full for about $15.00, which would include a small container of Fried Rice, a small container of Lo Mein,, and a Egg-roll! Trust me, a "small container", can actually feed 2 for lunch! Did I mention they also serve Large Fried Shrimp, Gyros, FF, Subs, and yes, the list goes on and on!! I really like this place for quick and easy food and they have a pretty eclectic menu so finding something you like for whatever mood you're in isn't hard and if you're in a hurry then you're in luck. Wow that was a long sentence:-) Anyway whether you want a muffeletta or General Tso's chicken or you want some fairly decent fish and chips or shrimp basket they've got you covered and course just a cheeseburger or hot dog then it's all good You can dine in or drive through and while it's not fancy at all it is pretty good eats at an affordable price and it's always pretty quick plus the folks are nice. That's pretty much all there is but one last tip, the parking out in front is okay but if you happen to pull around their lot then be aware that I think I saw a Volvo in one of the potholes. read more

My hubby and I have gone here for a few years now. The outside looks like the typical'hole in the wall' kind of place but don't let that fool you. They updated the inside a couple of years ago and it is nice and clean. My husband gets the Chinese food fairly often but I usually get sandwiches. The meat is so fresh and of excellent quality. I love their rye bread. My favorite sandwich is the Reuben and his favorite is the egg drop soup. They are both excellent. They have good egg rolls, too. Their fries are crunchy and good. They have very fresh salads and the Muffuletta is so good. I can't brag on it enough. read more

This is an old school deli that is not fancy and sells Asian food in addition to subs. Great service, friendly staff, and good sandwiches. Best fries in Memphis, plus some prices better than going to subway. Employees are masked and wear gloves, and they're managed in a way to focus on customer safety, in addition to good prices and good food. I highly recommend their sandwiches. At this place, you should only order two things to go, the Philly Cheesesteak and the Muffaletta. You order anything else and eat there at your own peril! Like seriously, if I rate this place with regard to their other selection of food, or whatever you call their "Chinese food," and the store decor itself, I might not even give this place 2 stars. Their Philly Cheese has a secret ingredient that I was respectfully asked to never tell anyone; but I suspect that many persons of Taiwan, Fujian, or Teochew descent would probably be able to taste it. Let's just say that if you're allergic to shrimp or fish, you might want to avoid this Philly Cheese. And their Muffaletta is pretty darn excellent, pack with meat, seasoned well, and just the right amount of mess! The history of this place is that it's just a deli. The original owners, the Yangs from Taiwan, added pizza and marinated hot wings later on. They just wanted to be a good cheap deli like Super Subs. Then new ownership came and added in "Chinese food," because they simply got tired of people wondering why a place named "Yang's Deli" doesn't served Chinese food. I tried a few of the Chinese dishes. Big mistake! I haven't tasted the wings from the new ownership, but it doesn't look as good in the pictures like I had them in the past with the original owners. Pizza is definitely no longer on the menu. So basically avoid the half-assed dishes they added on the menu for the sake of adding it on the menu. Final Warning! Yang's is the sort of odd little family restaurant that makes you happy to be an explorer of roadside dives. Occupying a rundown but clean little building, the place seems to be crammed practically up to the curb on Summer Ave. Once inside, you will find attentive service at the order counter. Though the family is of Chinese descent, the Chinese food is barely average, but the sandwiches are very good and a great value. They are prepared to order, they use real cheeses, respectably good quality meats, and freshly baked bread. The French fries which accompany are served crisp and fresh from the oil. The grilled sandwiches are memorably good. I have eaten there many times when I need a quick, inexpensive meal. First time at this joint IN MY LIFE. Friend said he's been eating here for 25 years. It was good and inexpensive. I had the Philly cheesesteak sandwich with fries. Sandwich was flavorful, hot, and came wrapped in foil. Solid. Fries were standard crinkle fries and decent. Recent renovation reflected a step in the right direction - floor and wall tiles. Yes its a whole-in-the-wall place, but that little Chinese man makes one hell of a sandwich! If ever there was an example of "dont judge a book by its cover" this would be #1. Yang's Deli has been around for a long time. Growing up in this town, I've been a patron and fan for many years. It's nothing fancy to look at, and the location could be better, but the food is first rate. it's a deli, so you can expect the usual selection of sandwiches such as Reuben's, clubs and the like.
