A drink to share between us!
Chetan S.

2 visits in 2 days! Yes we liked this place that much ! This time we had their bowls - I stuck with my Seasonal Veggie bowl with cabbage slaw , while the better half got the Mexi-Cali Shrimp bowl . Both were prepared fresh with greatest of ingredients and we savored each forkful! This what a lunch should be!

Nashville Hot Tofu

Always fantastic! I crave the Nashville Hot Tofu mmm drool-worthy! A must stop for when passing through Texas. Super friendly cashier as well. Thank you so much.

I think I have to break up with Velvet Taco. It has been in my husband's and my regular rotation since it opened. Our favorite items on the menu are now gone. My husband used to get the sangria on the rocks, and I enjoyed the ranch water in the Topo Chico bottle. Now they only serve prepackaged ranch water in a can, and it is gross. We would come here after work to enjoy a few cocktails with their delicious tacos, and now that is just no longer an option. Let us know if you bring them back. We would happily return, but for us, that was a dealbreaker.

Outside patio

Amir provided excellent customer service. He provided me with options to upgrade my order and things to consider for my return trip. Inside the restaurant was clean, plenty of places to sit. The Velvet Sauce that I dipped my chicken tenders in was good but not as good as Canes. Women's restroom was clean. They have a changing table in the restroom. Bonus points for bag hook on the back of the restroom door, no purse or diaper on the floor is a WIN!!!

Buffalo Chicken

This place was top notch. the chips and queso really hit the spot, the chicken tenders were surprisingly good in a taco place. My son fell in love with the tacos with steak and queso only. The service was standard. Buffalo chicken taco still is the winner out of all the tacos!

Tikka Masala...best taco on the menu

2nd times a charm. My favorite taco, Tikka Masala, was loaded and flavorful. Definitely a fan favorite to try it out!

Nargiz K.

Great location, good service and vibes. Their patio is nice. Happy to have this new Velvet Taco close to home. I was looking forward to this location's opening.

Mexi, shrimp, taco, buffalo chicken, taco and guac!

Got the Chicken Tikka Bowl, it was very flavorful. I wish they had a little more hot sauces though.

Don't waste your time. No prices on the menu, watch out. Food was mediocre, greasy.

I visited Mexican Cactus Taco Bar expecting your typical strip mall taco joint with decent tacos…read moreand some TVs to watch a World Cup match, but WOW did I underestimate what I was in for. I knew from the second we walked in, based on the list of made-in-house horchatas and agua frescas, that we were going to be in for a good meal. The menu was refreshingly unique compared to your basic street taco style setup or the usual Tex-Mex mashup of inauthentic tacos topped with shredded cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes. Our group of 3 adults, plus my 7 year old niece, shared a bowl of guacamole, which was phenomenal and came mixed with sunflower seeds and topped with crumbled cotija, alongside house-made corn tortilla chips. We also split an elote cup, which was great. My wife got a classic horchata, which was deliciously sweet (but not overly so) with a nice slight punch of cinnamon. I went with water but will definitely try an agua fresca next time. I ordered two tacos, both on house-made flour tortillas (I like corn tortillas but prefer flour when made fresh). The Pollo Azteca, with marinated grilled chicken tenderloin, mango pico, and a drizzle of crema, was phenomenal, and had more flavor than most chicken tacos I've had before. The star of my meal, however, was the Al Pastor, with adobo marinated pork tenderloin, diced pineapple, onions, and cilantro, with a slice of lime to squeeze on top. This was hands down one of the best tacos I've ever had in my life. I was floored. I also tried my wife's Carne Asada tacos, which came topped with cilantro and onions, and a slice of lime, on their house made corn tortillas. The steak was incredibly flavorful, and the corn tortillas were tender without being chewy. We shared a side of rice and beans, which was good, but not the star of the show. The rice was your typical Mexican yellow rice, and the beans were more of a soupy whole-beans style, which reminded me of my Colombian mother-in-law's recipe. The staff makes four homemade salsas, ranging from mild to pretty spicy, and I loved all of them with the exception of the mild. My niece got the kids' cheese quesadilla, which was a simple melted Oaxaca cheese between a flour tortilla, served with rice, beans, and a little side of crema. The last thing I will rave about is the service. The staff was incredibly nice from the minute we walked in, pleasant to talk to when delivering our order and asking how everything was tasting, to the moment we bussed our tables and headed for the door. I cannot wait to come back again, and I hope they stay very busy until I'm able to do so, because I want this place to be around for a very long time!

Tons of space for our group of 16. We ordered Sopes, Pozole, Tostadas, Tacos, Gorditas, Carne Asada. EVERY SINGLE THING THAT SAT ON OUT TABLE WAS DELICIOUS! The Agua de Pepino AMAZING! Is it bad that we can't wait for our next soccer game near by, just so that we can go back?! The service was also great! Side note: the bill is slightly cheaper if you pay with cash. 10/10 would recommend

From a chef, thats been eating and preparing authentic Mexican food on the border from Baja Norte &…read moreBaja Sur, to San Diego, to AZ, to TX: Just plain awful and beyond bland al pastor burritos: - No salt in anything so no flavor pops at all - Meat has next to no flavor - Salsa is literally flavorless, tastes like water mixed with capsaicin - Burritos are tiny for $9 even though menu says $8 - No cheese in burritos even though it's listed - Beans are pinto as if they're out of a can, not cooked down and refried with spices and fat as they're supposed to be - Guacamole is literally, I kid you not, significantly less than 10% avocado. Its just tomato, onion and cilantro with no more than a wisp like wipe of avocado. You literally cannot get any avocado on a spoon out of it if you tried- I tried- it was impossible - Spanish Rice is sorely lacking enough tomato - Scant amounts of each mediocre ingredient per burrito An absolute crime against Mexican food. How on earth this place sells anything, let alone to the Mexican community is utterly beyond me in a way I will never understand. I want you to know, this review is not written with any measure of anger- this is purely emotional unfathomable disappointment. In fact, I tried not to write any of this, because the staff are truly some of the absolute kindest and most endearing people I've ever met. But it had to be said. The food is nothing short of a tragedy. If staff reads this, please know I mean this all with no animosity towards any of you or your business. And to be frank, I would come in and provide recipes, demonstrations and training to the chefs completely free of charge, for no other reason than one, it honestly needs to happen even if Im not the one doing it, and two, I must restate that the people working here are some of the friendliest people on earth, and I would truly love to see all who work here succeed greatly, because people that wonderful deserve all the success in the world. Good luck guys.
